Bootleg Quidditch
Zephyr was holding his broom's handle tighter as he flew above the pitch, his knuckles turning white already from gripping it too tight. It was mostly due to nervousness and possibility of doing something stupid in front of everyone but he reminded himself to focus on the game itself. He was just circling around the pitch, keeping his eyes open for any incidents and trying to take everything in. It was his first time playing, and truth be told, he was worried and nervous about everything that could happen. His stomach was doing weird flips from the time he left the bench up until he was up there now, not wanting to mess anything up.
From his vantage point, he checked the players, be they his teammates or the opposing team. He saw Cecilia dodging a rogue Bludger, Charlotte and Graci were both trying to coordinate, and from the corner of his eye, he saw Avery trying to target them. The pitch was an area of information, while in here you will have a good view of who was where and what was happening around you, it's better than just sitting on the bench. He was also in a position to help his teammates if anything will go wrong at any given time.
He was on the lookout for the quaffle and was thankful that the bludgers were not coming his way (just yet), but even with that knowledge, he stayed alert. Even the more experienced players were struggling from what he observed. He took a deep breath again to calm himself and paid more attention. Every so often, he would adjust his speed, to check behind him for any bludgers and his fellow chasers ready to help with the quaffle.

The rain was still dropping, like a leaking faucet that would never be fixed again. Some of the droplets dripped along her hair and then fell onto her face. Rosaline tried to blink to keep her sight clear. Both her hands were on the handle of her Comet 180; she was also very nervous that if Althea got any bludger, that would be devastating for their team. So, she needed to do her mission right and couldn’t risk wiping her face for this tiniest inconvenience at this point.
She saw Vera moved in front of Althea and was unhappy about it. Although Vera got caught by Livia and would need to perform a penalty lap later, they were still facing trouble. Pursing her lips a little, Rosaline observed the pitch. Apparently, they might lose the clue of the snitch, and they needed to chase it all again. It wasn’t a really great fact, yet who knew what would happen next. Luckily, she and Althea hadn’t been any Beater’s aim. The young lioness turned her head to Althea, who flew beside her. She checked on Althea and tried to cheer her, “Hey, it’s okay. We can still get that little golden ball!” Then Rosaline shouted to the air, “Let’s go, Pegasi! We can win this!”

The faint whizzing of the snitch shooting about the pitch made her shoulders twitch. The penalty round had left her out of momentum. Jade-green eyes flitted around her surroundings trying to trace and follow the glimpses of gold flickering about. She flew a little closer to the snitch, having found it hovering and bobbing for a second in the air. Her mind narrowed on it. An attempt has to be made to catch that snitch. That was the only way her team could win, after seeing how stagnant the quaffle movement seemed to be even with her team's hardworking chasers. Althea shifted, ready to make a dive when suddenly a figure hurtled into her line of sight. She flinched and backed up, only to find Verity Engels, a junior student who she had competed against before in the informal broom race earlier on. She mentally cursed as she realised the snitch was no longer there in that spot, taking little pleasure in hearing the declaration of Verity's penalty after having her goal scrubbed out of sight.
The encouraging voice of Rosaline perked up from beside her, and despite her frustration at herself, the Hufflepuff found herself smiling slightly. "Thanks for your help, Rosaline. Be careful," she nodded appreciatively.
Althea turned and flew away from the scene of the foul, trying to catch sight of the snitch once more. The gold orb and its obnoxious wings were flickering in and out of sight, and her frazzled mind from Verity's blocking slowed her tracking of its movement. She tried to change her angle, looking around for an opening– There!
The image of gold stilled in the air, and she immediately bolted forward to grab at it. Althea's broom darted forward, and her hand reached out at it. The brush of cold metal was all she felt before her fist clasped shut around nothing. She gritted her teeth and slapped her empty hand back onto her broom, head lifted to track that darned thing. Surely no bird, rare or not, behaved like THAT. She held back a frustrated roll of her eyes. She had to try again.

Charlotte, by now was tired and exhausted. She really wished she practiced more before this game. Flying around in mindless directions, Charlotte searched the field for something she could do that would be helpful for the team. She watched for incoming bludgers. She watched for the quaffle. She wondered when this game would end. Or rather, how. She hoped that they'd be able to turn the game around. The wind was blowing her hair, so she pulled her hair to the front, so in case something happened, it wouldn't hit Graci in the face. That'd be really embarrassing.
"Yeah. It's nice to meet you too," Charlotte said with a smile before realizing Graci couldn't see her, so what was the point. She wasn't sure how she felt with someone behind her, but there was simply nothing else she could do about it, so she might as well make it work. Still just flying around, she finally paused a bit to catch her breath and watched her teammates. She felt useless, and watched as the more skilled players did more useful things, like searching for the snitch, or fighting for the quaffle. Well, she was sure she wasn't completely useless. It was a team sport after all. And at least she was still on her broom.

Avery let out a huff of frustration when her bludger hit was evaded. Of course she hadn't been quick enough to catch the two girls riding the Moontrimmer. There was also the disadvantage of how high the broom could fly. That alone just posed as another problem she would have to face later.
Now all she had to do was survive and hope that nothing was going to happen. She watched carefully as people flew around her. Cheers and boos from the sidelines could be heard across the pitch, but Avery paid little mind to them. She watched as her team worked their hardest and did their best to fly hard.
She smiled. She was proud that she finally had a team that wasn't falling apart before her eyes. She was glad to see that they were just as passionate as she was to push through the game and become victorious. She just hoped that their good streak wouldn't end before the match ended.
She knew from experience that things good go from good to bad to worse in only a matter of moments. She just hoped the match of the day wasn't going to follow that pattern. She wanted her team to get the chance to win. Especially since the majority of them had never competed in Quidditch before.

── To Cecilia, nothing seemed worse than being saddled with a penalty lap whilst the rest of her team toiled on the pitch. Gritting her teeth, she begrudgingly circled the pitch as her gaze swept over the Wonderbolts. Rouged lips curled into an amused smile when Verity abandoned her post to block Althea’s path. The sight of someone so refined employing such tricks seemed rather unusual, but incredibly entertaining.
Then, their grey-eyed beater flung the moon-eyed seeker into the air in an attempt to snatch the snitch. An impressive feat on both their parts despite not grabbing it “Keep up the good work!” Cecilia called out to the Wonderbolts, cupping one hand around her mouth as she continued the rest of her penalty lap.
At that very moment, a rogue bludger rapidly spun towards her. It was only by Merlin’s grace that she managed to swerve her broom out of the way in time. “I think you ought to collect that bludger of yours, Rosaline. It seems awfully fond of me,” she called out playfully to Pegasi beater. Cecilia knew that she was not responsible for the attempt on her life this time, but she would jump at any chance to lighten the mood of her penalty lap.
A cheeky grin stretched across Cecilia's face as she flew towards Verity. One hand stretched out towards the golden-haired keeper, offering her a high five. “Impressive block,” she said with a short laugh.

Other than unconciously tapping a finger against it, Sabrina let her bat hang, her grip on it loose as she began to focus on the action around her - her attention finally diverted from the bludgers and on the students zooming around her. Like a ray of lightning bolts, they ripped through the weeping sky, quick, nimble, a flash chasing after one thing or the other. Surprsingly, bar the Pegasus - a name she heared the other team cheer - keeper, noone seemed to be interested in the golden hoops. Brows drawn, Sabrina rested her gaze on the station for one more moment. Why wasn't anyone there? She had seen people circling the posts minutes ago - albeit not sharply enough to catch the results of their volture-like moves - and supposed they'd be the center of everyone's attention. Not only was she wrong, she was appearently wrong enough for their own keeper to decide the hoops held no importance at all, abandoning them completaly. Where has she gone? What was it that Sabrina was missing? Wiping the rain drops from her brows, her eyes narrowed, darting from player to player until she caught sight of their runaway keeper, right in the moment they abruptly stopped in front of their opposing seeker. Oh. Sabrina silently mouthed the word, eyes widening, almost as is seeing the strange behaviour spelled out before them. The snitch. She was blocking the snitch so their seeker had a clear path and could catch it, thus winning the match.
Her racing thoughts turned into an urgent buzz as she looked behind her, eyes immediately meeting the ones of their seeker. She was too far away. Without hesitation, the small wicth reached out her hand and, almost as if sensing her intend, the other raven did the same. In no time, Sabrina spun, launching the other girl in the direction of the golden orb. With her blonde hair trailing behind, she looked like a shooting star and Sabrina dared to make a wish. Catch it, please catch it. Unfortunately, it wasn't granted.

The Hufflepuff’s exterior exhibited the look of someone who was determined for success, with her eyes narrowed, lips pursed in focus and a model poise on the broom. Inside, along with the wicked trails of guilt at her failure stood the need for her success. Success wasn’t going to be optional. She was going to chase it.
They say there are things you can’t teach by book, but Amelia was a firm believer of the opposite. A large majority of what she knew had been learnt by the knowledge of a hard copy and her Quidditch knowledge was no different. She knew enough about tactics of a quidditch game, or at least what was used in general games. There was something else to try. Not her style or what she was comfortable with, but if it got a victory, she would do it.
With a firm, steady poise on her stead, she swooped down towards the opposing seeker. A block was simple, right? There was a pause. Then the attempt. And then came the answer. No. There was a different between saying it, and managing to not be… avoided. No success. Again
A deep inhale, shaky with the pent up frustration of failure. It was becoming harder to stay positive. By a lot. Seriously, a penalty lap? She had done nothing but let her team down. And now, they had one player less, and were doing no better. One thing was begging to become clear. She was far, far better at dueling.

Morning
Time: 10pm
Lily stood up and shook her legs. Her legs had frozen up as she was not used to sit this long at a time and anyways was not at all patient. She had already given up hopes of standing up, mounting her broom and flying in the air. All her efforts of being a little good at flying were going to go to waste. She sighed in despair and looked up to observe her teammates.
She looked up to see Zephyr, who significantly improved a lot since the last time they had practiced together. She cheered for him, giving several thumbs up and cheer ons.
Then her eyes reached Elena. She did not look that confident to Lily, maybe her eyes were deceiving her or maybe she really was..... She decided to cheer for her anyways. Maybe that would help.
"Come on Elena!!! You can do this. Do not let the other team crush you!!", she cheered. "You are doing great.", she screamed.
She was a little glad anyways. Even if she was not going to be in the air, and show off her talents, even if all her practice would go to waste, at least she was helping someone gain their confidence by cheering her on.
