Library struggle PV Anna Blackberry

Iris sat in the library, in a silent corner with her face buried in a Charms book. She was silently practicing spells by herself, muttering words and incantations so that she could try to learn some tougher things. She hated spells and much more enjoyed learning histories and researching, she wished that would help her with the actual casting of spells. It didn't.

She sighed loudly and loudly, maybe a little too loudly put down her spell book and her wand.

"Why do the spells have to be so hard!?!" She growled to herself. It was mostly meant for herself and unless someone was close by they probably couldn't hear.

She took a deep breath and adjusted her hair. She took out her twin buns and redid them as she stared blankly down at her book.

She felt lost and overwhelmed with the need to prove herself to her family. Her family was full of many pure blood, expert wizards and witches, yet, so far, she couldn't seem to live up to those expectations. She didn't know what to do.

She rubbed her eyes annoyed and frustrated.

'Why me? Why does this have to be so hard?' She thought to herself as she finished putting up her hair.

Hogwarts... It's a strange name for a school. Then again, most magical schools do tend to have weird names, like Ilvermorny. But despite its weird name, Hogwarts had a long legacy of prestige, and some of the most outstandingly successful (and stupid...) people have attended to it, giving the school the fame it has. Within the walls of the great castle are young witches and wizards with hopefully a meaningful future ahead of them, and such a thought would make some invest carefully in their abilities and rigid routines, while others chose to treat the present as a gift and forget what may happen later. Each one of those students and teachers has their way of seeing and experiencing their story. In the ground floor of Hogwarts, many people could mayhaps happen to meet a future friend or enemy by accident today, and that way intertwine their own particular stories.
A blue dress slid by the wooden tables of the library, although only one boy raised his eyes to see its owner (but he was only bothered that the cloth touched him), the girl of dark hair and skin that visited the library so very often. This time, she was supposed to return a book she had just finished reading. This one was about... history. It was quite a simple and summarized read regarding Herpo the Foul. It was different from the books of fiction and herbology Anna was used to reading, one she had picked to study something other than her favorite subjects for once. It was also something in the syllabus of history of magic, so it'd be useful to her. She walked through shelves and students, and her mind wandered to ponder: What book should she read next? Poetry? She had a newfound taste in it after she read "The Raven", and didn't have the opportunity to read a lot of poems so far. Fantasy, or maybe something else that'll help her in school. But she hasn't read poetry in a while...
Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud noise of something being harshly put down somewhere in the library, making Anna flinch away with her book still in hands, and scanned the room for the source of the noise. But she needn't search for long to find the most probable candidate, irritated and unhappy. There was a girl, with a similar height and hair color to the Blackberry herself. However, that girl's hair was also remarkably thick, and framed her face well. Anna thought she was so pretty... But she also looked so stressed. What may have happened...? Did her favorite character die in whatever book she was reading, or did the writer mess up a brilliant arc? It... didn't seem to be quite that, though, and it was hard to tell exactly what was happening. Was she having a difficult moment?
...Any of those reasons would have been enough for the curly-haired girl to approach her. To know which book to read or avoid, to meet someone new, to offer company to someone who may need. So she walked to the right side of this new person, with a type of sensitive curiosity in her wide eyes, strong yet delicate enough due to the hufflepuff's desire of not being invasive or impolite to approach someone else, and a desire to conversate.
"Excuse me? What's going on?"
Only then Anna looked down to what her peer seemingly had in hand before having gotten irritated. "Oh", she thought and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, "it's not a book of fiction... It's... Charms? Is she having trouble with spells?"

Is she having trouble with spells?

Library struggle PV Anna Blackberry
Iris looked up suddenly seeing the girl. She was shocked for a second to see this girl she hadn't expected anyone else to hear or see her struggling.

When the girl asked her if she was struggling with a spell she sighed and nodded. She felt ashamed. She had spent so much time carefully on each spell that she had learned so far but why was this one different? She didn't know but it troubled her.

Iris didn't answer for a long moment. She sat there and blinked. Does she tell this girl she doesn't even know that she's struggling with something she's usually good at?

She took a deep breath then finally spoke.

"Yeah... I'm struggling with a spell. Which is frustrating because I'm usually great at spell casting in general." She admitted hoping the girl would show some sympathy.

She paused for another long moment before speaking again. Right before she spoke she put down her charms textbook to reveal the "Green sparks charm" page open on her book.

"I'm frustrated because I can cast the red sparks charm just fine but for some reason I'm struggling with Green sparks." She said with a loud huff and ran a hand through her bangs.

𝕻⃦̳̿atiently, the hufflepuff waited for the other girl to respond to Anna's question and react to her general presence. She didn't quite notice the surprise in the blue-ish eyes of her peer, nor did it cross her mind her sudden greeting could scare her schoolmate. Even though the other student didn't study immediately, Anna didn't rush for an answer, either. After all, Anna herself tended to be slow at answering other people, since fully comprehending what they meant and forming a coherent reply was a longer process to her than most people, so she just subcounsciously assumed this stressed girl in the library was the same way. For this reason, without looking away from her grayish blue eyes, the young Blackberry silently waited, leaning her torso towards the girl, her hands supported on her own thighs while she stared attentively.
And indeed, she did receive the explanation to the girl's stressed behavior. So that mysterious girl was having issues with a spell. And one specific spell that resisted all her attempts of learning, despite her (claimed) usually high magical ability. "Isn't that a spell I learnt last year?" Anna thought quietly, "This must be her first year in Hogwarts, then. Green sparks is pretty easy, though..."
Despite this thought, she sympathized with the situation of the first-grader. Spells were generally easy for her, and she even learnt some charms in advance as a favor from her mother. So if she found a spell nigh impossible to learn, then she too would be upset. Especially since a perfectionist like Anna would probably spend well over a few nights trying to find a solution to her struggles, upset and angry she even had struggles in anything adjacent to spells. How distressing is it to fail at something you're normally good at. Furthermore, her frustating experiences in Potions, having failed time and time again to understand the exact measures necessary to form anything safe for consumption, repeteadly humbled this perfectionist, and it was no longer difficult for her to understand this type of challenge.
Because of this, determined to assist this nameless stranger, she walked around her and sitted on the empty chair next to the pale girl, looking as comfortable and friendly as one would be with a close friend. Since Anna was a second-grader, she had already learnt verdimillious, and thus believed she could be of help; she still distinctly remembered the movements and pronunciation of Green Sparks.
"It's a pretty easy spell, I'm sure you'll get it in no time... Especially since you didn't struggle with Periculum. What's your main issue? The pronunciation, the wand movement? I'm sure we can fix it."

I can help!

Library struggle PV Anna Blackberry
Iris let out a long sigh. She listened to the girl speak about the spell. She was glad that she was speaking to a second-year who already knew the spell. But her use of the word 'Easy' made Iris cringe slightly. Was the spell really easy? Then why was she struggling.

She sighed again and put her head in her hands while she was still holding her wand in her hand.

"Well I don't know." She started to say with a bit defeat in her voice. "If the spell is easy maybe that's why I'm struggling? I've also been practicing spells for quite some time so maybe I'm just tired and unfocused." She confessed almost hesitantly. Then she looked at the second-year.

Was this girl going to make fun of her? Would she think it was funny that the girl was struggling with such a simple spell? Iris didn't know. She didn't meet this girl until now. Her thoughts then lingered to her parents, the expectations of her family, and all of the stress that came with that. If this spell was really an easy spell then she NEEDED to learn it. She couldn't go home and tell her parents that she didn't even know how to cast an EASY spell.

"Can you... Uh... Help me...?" She asked hesitantly. She hoped that the girl would say yes.

She hoped that the girl wouldn't think she was stupid or lame for not knowing the spell. She wasn't normally one to do for help but it was better than going home and telling her parents she didn't know this simple spell.
