She could feel the damp air and her hair gradually getting wetter. The race was more and more intense. With all the Quaffle grabbing and attempts to score, the scene was almost mesmerizing to her.
She steady her breath, observing the pitch again. Noticing the other team kept getting the Quaffle, she was a bit worried. But after that, Maisie, again, blocked all the attempts. A giant smile appeared on her face. She couldn’t help but exclaimed out loud, “Let’s go, Pegasi!”
Rosaline heard a gust of wind coming at her. She turned around real quick and saw a Bludger. Swiftly, she flew to a safe place. The ball went past her. Just by a second, if she was any slower than that, she would get hit. Composing herself, she tried to catch her breath and saw an opportunity. Rosaline approached the available bludger, swung the bat and hit the it toward Cecilia’s direction. She felt sorry for doing this but it was for their team. She succeeded. Cecilia got hit by it but she wasn’t knocked out of her broom. Rosaline hoped she was alright. Beater wasn’t an easy position at all, though she never thought of it that way, yet she had a realization now.

round 3
•—————————————•
Somehow the game wasn’t going as badly as Avery had first expected. From her experience in Quidditch, nothing went according to plan. Ever. It always somehow ended in an inevitable disaster that she had to try and fix herself as the rest of her team fell around her.
She had missed her bludgering. Her body was already tired from the strain of constantly batting at the ball. She didn’t know how much longer she could keep up without falling apart, but she wouldn’t let her exhaustion win. She was strong. Determined. Not afraid to force herself to be stronger.
“Come on guys! Keep up the good work! We’ve got this!” Avery shouted out to her team.
Her shout was more for herself. Her team was amazing. They were fighting for their lives and doing a beautiful job at it. She just hoped that as their captain she could stay on her broom and help lead them to victory. That was what mattered to her and her team.
So she would fight to her death if it meant they had a better chance at survival. A better chance to make it through and finally get her first victory under her belt.

Slight warning: this post contains a bit of ic negative self talk
With yet another swing and bang her bat hit the bludger, it's trajectory greatly missing her target. Yet. Again. Despite the words of encouragement clearly meant for her ears sounding from below her, Sabrina felt utterly useless, her own harsh opinions of her performance drowning out some of the chants. As if her failure wasn't bad enough, her intended victim (@Rosaline Everhart), a beater herself, seemed to be better suited for the position - or just the favorite child of fortuna, either way - the beaten ball she had send nestling into a side of one of her teammates, a fox haired girl who she's fleetingly seen flying around their opposition's hoops. (@Cecilia Merrick)
Sabrina, a mere observer, winced at the sight, both sympathy and a blooming sense of guilt visible in her reaction. If she had not missed, if she had at least startled the other beater, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Her pale eyes lingeres on the injured chaser for a few more seconds - did the fox realise that, too? Would she hate her now? The broom riding raven had only seen this action because her eyes naturally followed a bludger track. Could she have avoided other casualties if only she paid attention to them?
Her thinking process until now proved to be self-centered to a point where she failed to notice her surroundings. If not under the onslaughter of self doubt and anger, the girl might've realised how said issue fitted perfectly with predicament - so wrapped in her own, rather negative idea of the reality and it's perception of her that it became obscured to her view. Of course, the young witch didn't come to said realisation just yet, not fully, that is, this thought only a spark in what needed to become a fire. But it still lead to her looking around, even if from rather negative feelings, assessing the current situation of the game she was playing. Stupid, why didn't she do that before?

"Thank you... Charlotte, right?" Graci said from behind her. It was kinda weird having someone behind her on the broom, but everything was kinda weird today. No, not weird. New. Everything was just so new and different. Sure, she watched quidditch, but playing it was a lot different. It was more tiring too. "Yeah, that's me. And you're Graci! I've seen you around." It was kinda weird talking to the air right in front of her, but she didn't want a bludger knocking her and Graci off the broom if she was looking behind her. The first bludger had been hard enough to dodge, she wasn't sure if she could do it again.
She was also exhausted. The cold wasn't bothering her anymore, but she had never reallly played sports for as long as she was. There were always breaks, or at least bench time. Still, she was confident she could end the game without suffering from exhaustion. She'd been watching her teammates, trying to help out if she could, especially since the other team was in the lead. Any moment now, the other team would find the snitch, and that would be it. She didn't realize how much she wanted to win this game, even though it wasn't an offical match. She hoped she would make herself useful.

The teams maintained their disdain for an easy job for the Seekers. Both Verity and Amelia would fly towards the seekers of the opposing team, although only one would be successful in her endeavour. By some absolute miracle, a strange sense of calm came over Verity, and she managed to block Althea's path to the Snitch. Elena was luckier and would fly out of the awy of Amelia.

Even the bench remained rather quiet – only the loud cheers of Aodhan and Lily could be heard, with the other three bench-warmers not quite managing to do much of anything. For their part, though, Aodhan and Lily were well able to ensure that Elena would be able to hear their confident shouts.

...was ignored, it seemed, in lieu of more lucrative pursuits. Maisie's marvellous and magnificent blocking skills would go to waste this round.
The Snitch
All eyes – well, of the Seekers, at any rate – were on the glorious golden Snitch in all its glittering grandeur. Although Althea had been snitch-blocked by one less-than-stealthy Verity Engels, she still endeavoured to catch the golden orb, so although she flew with her fingers outstretched towards it, it fluttered away.
Elena did not fare much better. Perhaps if she had been closer to the Snitch, she might have had a proper chance, as her aim was not terrible. However, as Sabrina slung her about in a fine alley-oop, she reached out, and... 'Clark reaches, and... not this time, I fear.'

Beaters.
Charlotte and Graci did not seem to be able to properly coordinate their move. This would cost them – and it nearly cost Cecilia, too, who had already withstood one bludger attempt and likely would not be able to handle much more. One of the bludgers, tired of a lack of indirection, zeroed in on the foxlike redhead, but she nimbly dodged. 'It appears that Merrick's streak of luck is back,' Livia commented drily, pleasant mirth hidden behind the humour in her words.
Avery seized the opportunity to hurl a bludger at Graci and Charlotte. This, however, would be a fruitless attempt, as they evaded the attempted blow with ease. 'Wonderbolts, deft and ready to heft! Mr Shaw, perhaps you can utilise that in one of your cheers.'

Not a single quaffle came her way. Only the gentle, easy droplets of rain came to bother Maisie as she sat on her broom hovering in front of the golden hoops. Shrugging her shoulders, she just watched out across the field, trying to get a better sense of what was happening.
But it was quiet out there—slow. Only a snitch block against Althea seemed to stand out, and not in a good way of course. But Althea had shown nothing but skill, so it seemed only natural she, especially in the coveted role of seeker, would be targeted. The timing was not great, however, as it seemed for a moment like she was well on the snitch's trail. Meanwhile, bludgers went wide and penalties seemed to abound. It was not looking good.
And all she could do was hover here. In contrast to the rest of the game, this felt inadequate—she didn't want to be useless, especially as she was just beginning to feel useful. And yet, there was still the feeling that this was better than her normal attempts on the piste because had missed or had a spell blow up in her face. And perhaps best of all, she wasn't alone.
With a breath, she called out, "Come on, Pegasi! We've got time!" Not 'we got this,' or 'we can do it,' or something inspiring. It landed like the same lead—'don't give up!'—that had put Aislin in the hospital. Just time enough to breathe. Because up here by the hoops, with the gentle hum of rain in her ears, she seemed to have all the time in the world.

It seemed that the bad weather was distracting not only Frederick, who found himself scowling up at the sky, reconsidering his decision to leave the castle in conditions like these, but also the students playing the match. Some of them flew about looking a bit lost, taking no real action, and the Quaffle appeared to have been forgotten altogether, causing the score to stall.
The boy pulled up the hood of his waterproof cloak, covering his rain-damp hair, and crossed his arms as he refocused on the game. At least his team wasn’t losing, he thought while scanning the pitch, squinting to see better. Even in the rain and stuck on the reserves bench, Fred still took advantage of the moment to study Quidditch strategy, watching the plays of both teams closely.
He let out a breath through his nose when he realized Althea wouldn’t catch the Snitch this time, hoping the Hufflepuff player would succeed soon. Ever since they’d taken part in the escape room at the Autumn Ball, the older girl had earned Frederick’s respect, without her, he and his friends would probably still be trapped in that maze. Since he didn’t know anyone else on the bench, he stayed quiet, a rare occurrence for him, keeping his full attention on the match.

The chasers on the other team did not want anything to do with the quaffles. So, yet again, Vera left the goal posts altogether and headed elsewhere on the pitch.
Looking around, there was too much to do and not enough time or speed to catch up. The other Keeper was an absolute wall, blocking just about every single attempt and not allowing their team to earn points other than catch the snitch. Elena was battling all sorts of attempts against her catch, from a snitch block from the opposing seeker, to bludgers to the side, and other fouls aimed in her direction. But she was still standing, still flying, and on her way to the snitch.
Althea's action a while back gave Vera an idea.
So, Vera turned her broom in Althea's direction, watching her trajectory and then making a break for it. In just a few moments, Vera was right in Althea's flight path. The girl squeaked out a small, "Sorry!" then moved out of the way after a few moments.
Yet again, Livia called her out on the snitch block. But compared to the blatch attempt a few rounds back, this was worth it. Vera puffed her chest out. "At least that did something."
She started towards the edge of the pitch yet again, a bit bummed she'd been seen a second time, but grinning as she walked away with a successful snitch blocking attempt.
(Maybe after this, it would be a good to fully read up on the rules and figure out what was allowed and not allowed so as to avoid so many penalty laps again.)

Graci sincerely hoped with all that be in her being that the pair might not be hit right off the broom. Alas. It was rather inevitable, considering the brutal and often bruising nature of the game, but hope she had in spades regardless. And one might suppose that was the majority subject in regards to her thoughts during this portion of the game, and be decidedly correct.
The thought that the girl in front of Graci might have percieved her previously was an... odd thing. Nothing wrong with it, merely unsettling that one would know of you without your previous knowledge of them. "Well then, it's lovely to be formally introduced to you, I suppose." It was more a half-thought out acknowledgement than anything, mere formality, for which Graci hoped she might seem less rude by.
Her mind was now more engaged with the actual happenings around her. It seemed the spike of adrenaline from almost falling was helpful to clear her mind. Even if it was fading, leaving only the slight memory of elation that often felt the same as fear. While the whole concept of quidditch was rather familiar, playing in it was something else entirely. Well, what's more bruises? Broom racing already made my pain tolerance sky rocket.-> word count: 212 {I've been reading pride and prejudice if the first paragraph sounds weird.}
