It's time for a math thing! Let's talk about really large numbers.

So you know these things:
1,000 = 1 thousand (1k)
1,000,000 = 1 million (1M)
1,000,000,000 = 1 billion (1B)
1,000,000,000,000 = 1 trillion (1T)
but what about
1,000,000,000,000,000 ...? or
1,000,000,000,000,000,000 or
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or .... ?
what happens is that we run out of words, I'm not sure those things have names.
So we've switched to scientific notation
12 can be represented as 1.2 E 1
123 can be represented as 1.23 E 2 where the number after the E says how many places the decimal moved
0.000123 can be represented as 1.23 E -4 because the decimal point moved right 4 times
So scientific notation helps us to represent really big/small numbers without breaking our brain
