Azrael is NOT a dhampir or a vampire, he's just weird, his skin is sensitive to the sun because he and his family are loners and prefer going out sometimes at night only because it usually means that not a lot of people are around, which has caused his skin to not get used to the sun properly and thus now it gets red and irritated when he's out during the day if he doesn't have any protection from the sun- yes, he's considered unsettling and eerie but it's not his aura, it's his eyes, they're big and owl like and he has a bad habit of accidentally spacing out and staring at people intently when they talk, so people consider him eerie, this was placed here to prevent misunderstandings.

The boathouse is quiet and calm, there's barely anyone around at this hour...but like always, Azrael is up and about- his big, round eyes lurking in the dark as he lingers in any dark place he can find.

And yes, he DID bring his umbrella...not because the sun is out, mostly because it's not the coldest night tonight, and his umbrella is enchanted to release cold air to keep him as cold as he likes 24/7...and it's not any type of cold either, it's like walking through a blizzard with summer clothes anyone- one can only wonder how he enjoys it.

Still, he doesn't seem bothered as he watches the empty, still boats inside the boathouse...it's hard to tell what he's thinking, or if he's thinking about anything at all- after all, his expression never really seems to change at all.

Still, his eyes narrowed slowly as he started hearing something outside... instead of going to check it out like a normal person, he simply walked in further inside the boathouse and behind a small wooden wall, hiding in the few deep shadows the boathouse provided.

He's never been one to enjoy approaching others randomly- so he'll probably just stay there and wait for them to either pass by...or enter the boathouse, hopefully it's the first one.

He already has had enough people starting rumours about him, and he doesn't mind...if anything, he finds them amusing from time to time...but they always bring more attention to him than he'd like, so...he prefers to avoid them if possible.

Hopefully, whoever is near the boathouse passes by quickly.

...or not.

Azrael will doesn't care regardless, and as always, he'll wait patiently for whatever happens.

The key was to walk calmly. Sure, she was walking a little faster than a normal person, but as long as she didn't seem suspicious, it would be fine (more suspicious than the fact that she was walking towards the boathouse, anyway).

Prefects didn't often patrol the grounds for wandering second years, but Paris wouldn't put it past them. She's been caught sneaking out three times already this semester; she would likely get a detention if it happened again.

Paris had taken to skulking the grounds, but picked up her pace when she heard footsteps on the steps outside the main door. Was she imagining things? Had she been seen? She ducked into a nearby copse of trees and circled the edge to get nearer to the lake. Guess there was no way to avoid the shady route. If she was caught along the way, Paris had no idea how she would explain what in the name of donkey leather she would ever be doing so close to the great lake. At night. When second years were meant to be in bed.

The boathouse had served Paris well several instances before in times of trouble; the sound of the water lapping up against the sides, the plethora of nooks to hide in, and the fact that no one ever thought of it made it the best hiding spot on the grounds.

Muffling her steps the best she could on the rocky path, Paris eased the door of the boathouse open. As usual, the place was empty. Ducking behind the first boat, she patted around in the dark for a second until the familiar tickling legs of Rosetón climbed onto her arm. She had deposited the spider here yesterday and was pleased to know that he had stuck around.

Whispering softly to him, she stepped further into the boathouse. As she neared the end of the small building, she sensed an oddity in her peripheral vision. The boathouse didn't have any red in it...

Placing Rosetón on her head, Paris turned sharply 90 degrees. She tilted her head slightly. On the other side of the water behind a low wall, Paris saw the red of Gryffindor robes and a pair of luminous eyes that seemed to glow with the moon's reflection on the water.

Paris stared, unblinking, at the equally stoic eyes. "Wanna meet my spider?" she finally asked after about ten seconds of silence. Still, she waited for the lambent eyes to blink.
it might be confusingly explained but basically in reference to the picture you put, paris is on the other side of the water from where azrael is

Azrael quietly stepped out from whatever shadow he had been hiding in.

His big, unblinking eyes narrowed slowly as he stared at at the spider...his pupils immediately became HUGE, like a cat seeing something they liked...but it's more noticeable because his eyes are bigger and rounder than normal.

Instead of asking why she was there, he simply nodded and spoke up...
____________________••_____________________§- "...yes, please."
____________________••_____________________Azrael said, staring intently at the spider as he placed his umbrella on the floor beside him- closing it as he stood back up staring blankly as he took in the small creature.

He's always liked spiders, he would've gotten one as a pet if his pet owl Ravenna hadn't appeared in his life first...still, he likes any and every creature so he doesn't mind at all.

In fact- back home, he used to feed any creature that would pass by his home...after all, his family lives in the middle of nowhere- so magical creatures of any kind flying or walking by isn't strange or new, he's never tried to take any...as he respects their freedom, but most of them stick around because he feeds them, gives them clean water- and sometimes (if they let him) he pets them.

Although petting them requires trust to have been built first of course.
____________________••_____________________§- "... what's its name?"
____________________••_____________________he suddenly asked, shifting his gaze to look up at Paris- making strong eye contact as he did.

Has he blinked at all? Not really, does he seemed bothered by it? Nope, is he gonna blink any time soon? Probably not, he's just weird like that.

Paris smiled at the boy's reaction. She had never received such a welcome response to meeting her arachnid friend. She walked quickly around to be on the same side as him and gently lifted Rosetón from her braids.

"This is Rosetón," Paris said at a normal volume before cocking her ear slightly towards the door, tensed in case someone came in. Her voice dropped in volume as she spoke again. "I found him molting last September and he seemed to tolerate me well enough, so I kept him."

Indeed, no matter what Paris seemed to do, Rosetón never left. At the start, she kept trying to scare him off, but the spider either didn't notice or did not care. Several times Paris had left him in random places, only to wake the next morning and find him by her head.

She was amazed with Rosetón's persistence, shocked that anyone, let alone a spider, was so determined to stay with her. It was a unique feeling to not be left behind or forgotten.

Paris looked down at her cherished spider, wondering what she had ever done to deserve his devotion. "He likes to hide behind the boats. Are you hiding here too? Have you seen any prefects? I thought I heard one, but I wasn't sure. Smart idea to bring an umbrella, it's pretty leaky in here. Are you a first year you look too young to be a third year and I may be incompetent but I'm positive you're not a second year like me. Your eyes are really cool--has anyone ever told you that?"

Stupid. Stop asking questions, stop talking. You finally found someone who's actually interested in something that you like and you're scaring him! Probably. Just shut up.

The boy still hadn't blinked. Well, Paris wasn't going to give in. Was this involuntary for him? Or had she unknowingly entered into an intense staring contest? Either way, Paris held his gaze, just as unblinking as he.
