Stone Benches, Soft Words
Rose arrived first at the edge of the lake almost slipping on it as she slowed down a bit too close from it. When Wes arrived he shared his surprise about her being faster than thought.
"Well I have an older brother." she only said with a small mischief in her eyes before laughing.
She felt a hand around his wrist and looked to see Wes' hand around her wrist as he told the reason. Rose smiled mischievously at him as he was being scared she ran again and he wanted to prevent her from cheating. She had no intention to run anymore. At least for now.
"Don't worry I won't run yet. And it wasn't cheating was it?" she asked innocently.
"Running this fast needs some rest." she added smiling as Wes realised his hand was still on her wrist before he quickly let go.
Rose laughed slightly as she looked at Wes who was now admiring the view in front of him. He seemed to be amazed as his words confirmed Rose's thoughts. She turned to the view as well closing her eyes as she felt the wind brushing her cheeks reddened by the coolness. It was so refreshing. She opened her eyes again looking now at the view.
"That's my fifth reason. You now understand it." she paused admiring the great lake a smile on her lips "It's really peaceful isn't it?" she asked smiling quickly glancing at Wes.
Rose hoped he enjoyed here as much as she was. As she looked down at the frozen lake Wes was also mesmerised by the view and the atmosphere. Rose was thinking at Wes' comment about how he would get his skates because she hasn't thought about it but both his parents were indeed muggles so they couldn't send them by owl could they? Rose lost in her thoughts turned toward him a questioning look on her face.
"Do your parents know how to send an owl?" she asked him feeling a bit weird and awkward to ask such a question.
"I mean they could send your skates with an owl you know..." she extended her arms imitating the wings of an owl.
Then Wes turned around asking her which tree was her favourite. Rose too turned around looking at all the trees surrounding them. Actually the one she climbed was a bit further to where they were standing as not many people were going to the place the special tree was. She mischievously smiled sighting the trees in front of her.
"Try to find it. If you do let's climb it." she said as a challenge to Wes while turning to him her light green eyes sparkling.

"Maybe they do," Wes said with a shrug of his shoulders, "I know my Omi does. She sent me a letter and some socks. I guess she didn't want me to get cold." He paused for a moment and looked toward the Castle, near the Owlery. His grandmother has talked about getting him one just before the school year has started, but she ended up not being able to just then."Actually, she mentioned getting an owl for me. Not sure how she will do it though, no magic and all."
"It is peaceful though. Even better when no one else is really out here." The boy slid his foot across the ground, making an arch in the snow as he looked down into it. Much of the ground looked untouched except for the walking paths and a few places where the wildlife would roam with less people around.
When Wes looked around for the tree he shrugged and then turned back to Rose, arching a brow at her. “So… how am I supposed to know which tree is your special one? Am I supposed to just walk around until I find it?” His eyes searched and a bit and Wes saw a group of trees a little off the beaten path.
“Well look, you at least have to give me a hint or something. Is it one of those?” Wes look at Rose and smirked. “It’d be easier if you just told me.”

"Omi?" Rose asked curiously wondering who Wes was referring to.
"Is it your grand mother? I guess so according to what she sent you!" she turned to him smiling.
Maybe his grand mother could send an owl with his skates or explain to his parents how to do. However there was probably going to be a way for him to receive his skates! At Wes' mention about his grandmother getting him an owl Rose turned to him as it was a really nice gift.
"Oh really? Maybe it will be a surprise! You don't know when you will get it!" she enthusiastically told him. Not knowing if it were true but it was better to think this way.
Actually if Wes were going back home for vacations he could have brought his skates back. Nevertheless Rose was not going to tell him to make him feel guilty about it. That was unnecessary.
"I'm sure we will figure it out! Otherwise we have 7 years to skate here!" she widely smiled.
Then Rose admired the view in front of her. It was indeed breathtaking and peaceful as if this place were out of another world. It was definitely her favourite area around the castle. She saw Wes sliding his foot on the snow-covered ground forming an arch. Rose looked down at it too before bending down. She turned her head to better look at it as she held her hand out of her pocket. Her finger then drew like two ears on the top of the arch two eyes under the arch where some snow remained along a smiling mouth. She got up again looking at Wes.
"Tada! It's cute isn't it?" she asked looking back at her small drawing.
When Wes turned around to look at the trees Rose smirked as her eyes sparkled of mystery at his questions.
"Well maybe yes." she smiled mischievously.
There were so many trees and the one she climbed was not even here so it would be hard for him to find it. Wes asked for a hint before even asking her to tell him which tree it was.
"If I were to tell you that would be too easy and not funny." she frowned thinking of the hint request.
Perhaps she could indeed give him a hint for him to find it more easily. After some thoughtful time she finally turned to him.
"Okay I will give you an hint. It is not here!" she said mischievously. She tried to remain serious as Wes may probably not like this hint.

Wes nodded to Rose's assumption that 'Omi' was his grandmother. "Yeah, sorry. It's what my mum called her grandmother. She was German. But we call her Omi now too, for the most part."
The boy shrugged his shoulders at Rose. He did not know when or if he would actually get an Owl or not. "Honestly... I'm not sure when, or if it'll happen. How much does an owl even cost, and... I'm not sure how'd she get it." He then laughed at her. "And I don't know what types of owls there are. Brown, grey, white, black? Just not a small one that squawks loudly, I guess."
Wes then looked down at Rose's new artwork. He rolled his eyes at her goofiness. "You're so talented!" He said sarcastically, "better than Michelangelo."
His eyes then narrowed, and he breathed out air with a huff. "Rose... ypu brought me all the way down here to have me hunt for trees? There are so many... How do you expect me to find it."
Wes then put his hand on his hips, attempting to do an impression of her. He looked like he was really focusing and eventually his mouth changed to look just like Rose's. "Okay. I'll give you a hint. It's not here." He tried to mimic her voice too, but it did not work too well. However, the pitch was decent enough. He then smiled at the girl before laughing and exclaiming. "C'mon Rose. Just show me!"

Rose smiled at the name"Omi" for Wes' grandmother it was a sweet one and quite original as it was different from the traditional way of calling their grandmother. Nevertheless she didn't comment anything about it as her smile was speaking enough.
While listening to Wes talking about getting an owl and the different kind there were she chuckled as how dramatic he sounded. It seemed it was the hardest thing a wizard could do and overthink about.
"You know getting an owl is not like getting an house." she teased him.
She knew since he was a Muggle-born he might not know this kind of things so Rose was obviously not mocking him but the way he talked was rather funny.
"You have a lot of time to be getting an owl. And by time will go you would have figured out how to I suppose and everything related to them as well! Like where to get it how much the different kind and all." she told him smiling. This time it was not on a teasing nor joking tone rather serious one but in a jovial way. She was reassuring him for him to know it was not going to be that hard for him to get an owl.
After Rose showed off proudly her small drawing to Wes she rolled her eyes at his sarcastic tone.
"You don't know how to appreciate a nice pretty art that's all." she said on a judging tone.
Rose laughed at Wes' comment of her taking him here only for him to look for a tree.
What an idea he got. she thought. However she smirked as she was getting into his complains.
"Well if I had told you that you would have never accepted to come here would you have?" she asked on an innocent tone as if him searching for a tree was the main purpose to have come here.
Her laugh was heard again before she went silent when she saw Wes mimicking her gestures and voice. She frowned at the view. It was absolutely not like her.
"I don't know who you are trying to imitate." she scoffed. Rose perfectly knew Wes was goofing around and teasing her but she couldn't help to behave as she was annoyed. It was her way to joke around as well. Then she laughed at Wes' sight which was really funny to her. One day he may be able to really do an almost perfect impression of her with his Metamorphagus ability.
Rose too wouldn't want to have to find a tree among so many like here. It was ridiculous but she was just goofing around with him. Of course at some point she would have shown him which one it was. Seeing him kind of desperate to know which tree it was and hearing him asking her to show it Rose chuckled at his attitude.
"Alright! I would have showed you anyways." she told him chuckling.
"At some point." she smirked.
Then she started to walk toward a more remote part of the lake's bank where the famous tree was.
"This way." she mentioned to Wes for him to follow her.
Wes was right. Trying to find a specific tree here was like finding a needle into a haystack. In other words almost impossible. Except when the tree was well remembered. Indeed Rose could find and recognise the tree they were going to anywhere. Maybe because she was associating it to a memory. A smile appeared on her lips at the reminiscence of that nice day when the tree was soon in sight. She stopped and turned around to wait a bit for Wes.

The boy gave her an incredulous look, though it was not serious at all. Wes rolled his eyes and followed on til he was beside her. He had no reason to not believe her, but the lanky boy did feel as if she was just playing a friendly prank. Regardless, he walked on next to her.
“So… why show me this special tree?” His tone did not have a joking nature, though kind, and his question was straightforward. Special places tended to be pretty guarded, at least for himself. Wes thought about a few places he had found around Hogwarts, places that meant something to him. He would not have minded showing Rose those places, he thought, and the boy smiled as he looked at his friend.
“And let’s hope I don’t get clumsy and fall and hurt myself again, hmm? One of us might be needing to learn some healing charms.” Though he was joking, it was true that it would be a good idea. That seemed like something they would learn in the future though, or at least he hoped they would. “Anyway, following your lead, Rosie! Hopefully it’s not too far, I’d hate to get lost and miss dinner.”

Rose raised an eyebrow and turned towards Wes unbelieving his question.
"Why would I show you the tree?" she repeated his question in disbelief as if to make sure she did understand and hear the question he was asking well. He was the one who asked her to show him the tree though.
"Well maybe because you're the one who asked for it?" she put on a skeptical look while looking at him still raising her eyebrow.
Then Rose laughed. It was only having fun at this point. She wanted to show him the tree because he was her friend and she wanted to share things with him. Although she was not sure she would really tell him everything. It was not a secret but more a personal thing she might want to keep to herself as well. Perhaps Wes too had favourite places and she would be also glad to know it. Rose was thinking that someone's favourite place could tell a lot about someone's personality or how they can value quality time spent there. Maybe she will ask him later about these places if he would want to show her.
Rose let out another laugh at Wes' next comment. She remembered when she had to help him to get to the hospital wing and actually it was the first time they met. At the time she was far to know their relationship would grow into such a good friendship and she was actually thankful for it.
"Yes please because the way to the hospital wing will be much longer than last time." she teasingly said remembering how she struggled a bit. Then she smiled at his suggestion about them learning healing charms.
"We probably should." she smiled before adding "But we will surely learn them anyways!" she said with a bigger smile.
Then she started to walk again towards the tree when Wes voice rose again stating he will follow her hoping not to get lost. Nevertheless he called her Rosie another nickname he was using and definitely knew Rose didn't like.
She smirked before turning to him and titled her head.
"Rosie?" she innocently asked. "Who is that person?" She then put on a thinking look.
"If you're really going to follow this Rosie you might never ever be able to get any dinners again." Rose said on an innocent tone thinking before a small smirk appeared on her face. She turned around again and started walking towards the tree.
She was enjoying her little teasing time although she was not sure how Wes would take it.
