[quote]Zephyr never really thought much about flying before Hogwarts. Back on their farm, brooms were just tools for cleaning, not something you ride. It was not until his first flying lesson that something changed his perspective about brooms in general. The moment he lifted off the ground, he realized he liked it, it was quiet up there and the view was magnificent.

Since then, he had been practicing whenever he could every morning. Sometimes just hovering and turning slowly, getting used to how the air feels around him. So when he was accepted as second string chaser for the unofficial match, he was pleased that all his training and practice paid off.

Saturday morning came quickly, he didn’t eat much at breakfast and just settled with a bit of toast. His stomach felt weird from nervousness as well as excitement. It was because today, he would be practicing with a Comet 180 instead of a school broom, together with his housemate and teammate Lily.

He reached the Quidditch pitch early like he always did. The grass was damp, and the stands were empty that time. He liked it that way as it gave him time to focus. He stood there holding the broom and immediately noticed how light it felt in his hands compared to the ones he was used to. He cannot wait to practice flying using a better and faster broom. Better to take advantage of it while it’s still with him.

Lily was laying down on her bed, reading a book. She didn't remember that she had a practice later. She didn't even know what it was for.

After some time, she looked over at the clock. It read:
7:10
She sighed and thought, "It has been a long time since I have been reading."

She got up and went over to her trunk, ready to organize it. There she saw the broom she had borrowed from Elena laying down. The Comet 180 was Lily's first broom ever. She had always seen her sister zooming in and out on her broom, and since then, she had wanted one too. And even though this wasn't technically her broom, she loved it as much as she would have if it were hers.

And then she remembered. She had to meet with Zephyr on the pitch to practice on brooms at 7pm and it was already 7:10. Oh shit, she was already 10 minutes late.

She hurried up, took out a cloak and snatched up her broom, and literally raced out of the common room. She couldn't afford to be more late now.

She hurried down the castle, nearly bumping into several people while doing so.

At last, she finally reached Zephyr. He was her teammate as well as her housemate, so they had met quite a few times before. This was why she had actually agreed, because otherwise, she wouldn't have been even a tiny bit comfortable.

Then she spotted him across the ground. "Hey.", she said, jogging up to him. The cold wind blew against her ears. "Sorry for making you wait. It just slipped out from my mind, was busy doing some things...", she told. "Hope you haven't been waiting for too long?", she asked.

[quote]Zephyr had been waiting for Lily on the pitch when he noticed someone running toward him. He had gone over a few things in his head—proper mounting, how careful he needed to be, how different this one would feel compared to the school brooms. While thinking all that, he kept checking the entrance, but he was not really worried yet. Lily being a little late doesn’t bother him much. People have their own lives, and he knew how easy it was to lose track of time at Hogwarts. He knew that so well having been sidetracked himself a lot of times already.

When he saw her jogging across the grass, with her broom in hand, he waved in greeting. She apologized as soon as she reached him but he shook his head quickly. “No, it’s okay. You’re fine, I just got here a little early.” He always arrive to the meeting place earlier than agreed, it’s just how he was brought up, and it’s how living on a farm does to people. “I’m not waiting long or anything, really.”

He didn’t want her to feel worse about it. Seeing her broom, he smiled once again, feeling a combination of excitement and nerves all over again at the prospect of their activity that day. “Is this your first time using this broom?” He raised his comet 180. “I thought we could start slow, just to get used to how they feel.” He gestured toward the open pitch. “Maybe we can do some basic things first? Like hovering, taking off and landing a few times.”

School brooms are heavier and slower, so this one’s probably going to respond quicker. “I just don’t want to lose control early in our practice.” He laughed un embarrassment. “I’ve never flown anything like this before. We could do a few laps around the pitch, then maybe try turning drills?” He wanted to see how fast it goes without pushing it too hard. All he wanted was for this to be fun, and not stressful. “What do you think? Feel free to tell me any ideas you may have?”
