Nice Talking To You
Sen was walking slowly around the edge of the Great Lake. It was currently cool enough that you didn't have to look too closely to see each puff of breath. With each step, his shoes crunched the leftover snow, gras s and leaves.@Kayden Mae Killian
He hugged his jacket around him tighter, wondering why he was out here taking a walk instead of his common room by the fireplace. He wasn't exactly alone however, there were students here and there scattered around - some in groups, and some on their own despite the somewhat early morning.
He plopped onto the grass at the edge of the lake, wondering if the Giant Squid was awake or not with all the chatter and occasional shouts between conversations.
He didn't notice however, a group make their way around his area until they were a few feet away, they hadn't noticed him either, and he wasn't about to change that.
However, the group of students were close enough he could vaguely hear what they were saying. Sometimes, it was a nice thing to be hard to notice, he supposed. But then it wasn't like they would go and talk to him.
He started noticing the group of students get a bit aggressive, more so than "friendly banter" as it was before, towards a certain member of their group.
Sen felt a bit bad for the boy, he had seen similar things happen in the past after all, but shrugged it off despite the nagging feeling in the back of his mind.
But he ignored that feeling. It never led to anything good if he did interfere - he was often viewed as weak after all, and they would try and start something with him if he did interfere.
No, these things was best left alone. Untouched.
But they were getting annoying.
He slowly stood up.
It seemed he would do something about it after all.
But he didn't notice someone else quickly gaining on the group.
'Damn,' he thought, 'all I wanted was to go back to sleep but no, of course not.'
"You know, the human race may be the smartest animals but they're also the dumbest," he said blandly with a deadpan.

Nice Talking To You
With her hair falling loose around her shoulders and down halfway her back, Kayden Mae was enjoying the breeze wandering through the courtyard, cooled from having just come off the Great Lake. Every step was accompanied with a crunch of grass and snow as her boots met the ground. She was headed towards the Great Lake, planning to sit and maybe sketch an imaginary dragon rising from the water. The sketchbook tucked under her arm was full of half-done drawings of creatures against backdrops of scenes from Hogwarts and the train and the backyard of her home back in Ireland. None of them were particularly good - her proportions were always off - but most were done in vivid color with her beloved gel pens.
She has halfway through planning a brilliant color scheme for her dragon - a Swedish Short-Snout, maybe, the silvery-blue color could be striking against the dark blue-green water - when a she caught a snippet of the conversation from the group in front of her. While she could tell the tone was playful, the conversation didn’t sound particularly kind. She frowned, color scheme forgotten, and sped up a little to hear more. She recognized the group as third years Gryffindors, having seen them in the common room a few nights ago. They had been laughing and pointing to a piece of parchment, Kayden Mae believed, and one had scowled at her when she, curiously, had glanced at it.
By taking a few quick steps, she was able to hear better what they said, and she didn’t like it. She was not a fan of people who teased others for no reason - sure, it was fun and fine with your friends, but when someone, like the boy who seemed to be subject, for example, seemed uncomfortable with every word ... well, she just couldn’t stand it. She advanced again, setting herself just behind the group, and reached forward to tap on the shoulder of the girl laughing the hardest, who was a little over half a head taller than her. Given that Kayden Mae wasn’t short, this meant the third year was about five feet tall, maybe a little more.
“Uh, hey! That wasn’t really nice.”

Nice Talking To You
Sen was a tad surprised when someone else cut in, athough in hindsight it was obvious if another person was close by, there was a chance they would help out.
Although, he supposed, there was also the chance they would be a bystander and not want to get themselves involved.
And also the slim chance they were going to join in the teasing.
Snickering and laughter cut his thoughts off. He frowned at their reaction. Balling his fists in anger as memories started to resurface.
But on one hand, he didn't want this type of commotion. But on the other, what would his past self think of him now if he just stood and turned away from someone obviously in need of help?
He couldn't let himself down, not like this. And so he made his way over to the group, quietly, a silent storm raging beneath his calm demeanor.
None noticed him, even when he was right near them. He could see the girl was somewhat fuming.
If it was him, and his words were laughed at and ignored, he would be pissed as well.
"Excuse me," he internally laughed in disdain at how the annoying group jumped at his appearance, seemingly having come from out of nowhere. "You have all been disrupting my peace and quiet. Please kindly be quiet, leave the kid alone, and go away. Thank you."
They looked at each other, then to him, before their supposed leader scoffed, turning around and muttering about how their time was being wasted.
He watched them leave with a small smile. It would likely not do much for the teasing itself however. He frowned slightly for a split second before turning to the girl.
He wasn't sure what to think about her, she was a stranger after all who didn't like something happening to someone else, and so he turned to leave.

Sorry for the long wait, I've been having a block of sorts, and very uninspired.

Nice Talking To You
@Sen Leaf
When all that met her words was snickering, Kayden Mae's face flushed a bright red, from the roots of her hair to her cheeks. She hated being laughed at. The eye rolls she received were just enough to make her ball her fists and open her mouth to unleash what she was sure would've been a vicious retort. The boy who had been a few steps away closed the distance between himself and the group, however, tearing her attention to redirect at him. She blinked once, then again, and scowled up at him. She knew how to handle herself - and others - perfectly well, thank you very much, and she did not appreciate someone cutting in.
Still, as the group of bullies turned away, she admitted that she couldn't exactly be mad at him for turning them away. She was very independent, sure, but not to the point of letting it drive her to being insensible. When all he did was glance at her before turning away, though, she frowned. Not even a hello? Finding herself not quite ready to let the circumstance slide, she reached out, fingers gripping loosely around his elbow and positioning herself in front of him, free hand on her hip.
"Sorry, but is that all you're going to say to them? You don't think they deserved a little more than just a ... 'hey, you're disrupting me'? I mean, they were bullying the poor kid -" (never mind that the 'poor kid' was several inches taller than and at least a year above her) "- and if that's all the reprimand they get ... I'm just worried they'll think to do it again later." She paused, blinking at him, and then relaxed, letting go of him to offer her hand. "Sorry, I'm Kayden Mae. By the way. But seriously, uh ...." She trailed off, having forgotten the entirety of the point she was making, and her unfocused eyes gazed over his shoulder in amused confusion and thought.

@Kayden Mae Killian
He was seriously considering making some personal rules at this rate. Too many confrontations.
He felt a firm, but loose grip on his elbow, and not a moment later he was facing the girl. He waited for her to speak, patient and still, but he couldn't feel the slight pang of annoyance he felt as he watched her.
What did she want? The expression on her face was one painted with annoyance, mimicking his internal feelings as she continued to talk, reprimanding him for what he said.
They were annoying him so he told them to go away and leave the teased boy alone. What else did she want him to do? He wasn't getting himself in trouble with a fight for some kid he didn't know existed until five minutes ago.
He rose a brow at her then the offered hand. He inhaled debating for a moment if he should, or should not take it. He ended up shaking her offered hand and introducing himself. It was only polite to do so.
"Sen Leaf. Pleasure to meet you." He said curtly.
Sen knew he was being unnecessarily rude, but her one eighty from chewing him out to suddenly being friendly did not sit well with him.
'Damn,' he thought, 'all I wanted was to go back to sleep but no, of course not.'
