Platform 9¾

Platform 9¾ is a secret location that exists in a liminal space hidden from muggles in King's Cross Station, used exclusively by wizards traveling through London. To the untrained or unknowing eye, this platform does not exist at all; it is just an unremarkable stretch of brick wall ignored by a steady tide of muggles rushing past with their rolling suitcases and paper cups of coffee.

Access is gained by walking straight through the barrier between Platforms 9 and 10. The wall gives way like a mist, cool and tingling against the skin, depositing the traveler into a space meant just for magical folk. Platform 9¾ is long and gently curved, its iron canopy arching high overhead. Sunlight filters through grimy glass panels, catching on drifting steam. At its heart often waits a train unless it is running late.

There are several trains that stop here, but the Hogwarts Express, a scarlet steam engine that looks as though it belongs to another century is probably the most famous. Other steam engines such as the Mystic Pullman and the Voyager have more humble roles in the wizarding world also arrive at King's Cross regularly. The Hogwarts Express leaves King's Cross Station at 11:00 AM on September 1st and leaves Hogsmeade Station on 11 AM on June 30. There are a handful of other times that the Hogwarts Express conveys students, including during the Christmas and Easter holiday. The Mystic Pullman (to access the Mystic Pullman, you need to have Hogsmeade forum access via the fake permission slip that can be found in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes), a train stationed primary on Hogsmeade does make regular treks to London weekly.
