Hogwarts Express
Hogwarts Express
The Hogwarts Express is a gleaming scarlet steam engine that travels between Platform 9¾ in London and Hogsmeade Station in the Scottish Highlands. The brass fittings on the Hogwarts Express are polished so bright they reflect every flicker of the station lights. When the locomotive exhales a billow of warm white steam, the air fills with the scent of coal, metal, and the promise of magic.
The Hogwarts Express leaves King's Cross Station at 11:00 AM on September 1st and leaves Hogsmeade Station on 11 AM on June 30. There are a handful of other times that the Hogwarts Express conveys students, including during the Christmas and Easter holiday. The Mystic Pullman (to access the Mystic Pullman, you need to have Hogsmeade forum access via the fake permission slip that can be found in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes), a train stationed primary on Hogsmeade does make regular treks to London weekly.
Inside the Hogwarts Express, the corridors are narrow and warmly lit by lantern sconces. The train hums underfoot, alive with motion. Rows of wooden-framed doors lead into private compartments lined with cushioned benches in deep burgundy upholstery, soft from years of student adventures and nervous first-day trembles. Sunlight flickers through the windows as towering countryside sweeps by: patchwork fields, winding rivers, and distant forests full of mystery.
Suitcases rattle overhead in the luggage racks with every turn of the track. The murmur of chatter carries from compartment to compartment: laughter, gossip, the excited retelling of stories. Some students have pets (we have a pet system if you wish for your student to own a pet) that they bring with them on this long journey.
Mid-journey, the Trolley Witch (feel free to interface with this faceless NPC in your roleplays) rolls her cart along the corridor, stacked with pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs, cauldron cakes, and glass bottles of shimmering pumpkin juice. The aroma of warm pastries mingles with the cool, fresh scent of country air as the train leaves the city of London.
As the train nears the Scottish Highlands, the scenery grows wilder: jagged cliffs, deep lakes, and dense woodland, each rolling past like the turning pages of a story you're about to enter. Lanterns sway gently, casting golden light and long shadows while twilight sets in.
Eventually near the end of the journey, the comfortable warmth and rhythmic clatter gives way to anticipation. The castle's distant silhouette: turrets and towers wreathed in near darkness. The Hogwarts Express slows with a final hiss of steam at Hogsmeade Station, carts drawn by Thestrals (invisible horses that can only be seen by people who have witnessed and understood death, so it is likely it appears as if the carts are being pulled by nothing) will convey you to your new home: Hogwarts.
