Magical candies and treats were items that really interested the young Muggle-born boy. On the Hogwarts Express, he had tried a few: Licorice Wands and an Acid Pop, to name two. It was surprising to the boy that when he had initially taken a bite out of what was called a 'Cockroach Cluster', he actually enjoyed it.

What Wes had not had, however, were Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Every conceivable flavor? He was torn between believing people and also thinking that they were just joking with him about it actually having every flavor.

So Wes decided he would try them. The boy procured two boxes for himself and brought them as he found an unused sitting area with a table and a few chairs, and a small table in the courtyard. The day was nice. There was a bit of cold in the air, making it slightly nippy, but he was close enough to a fire source that made his sitting place comfortable.

With a new book from the Library, on different Quidditch teams, Wes made himself comfortable and started to read. Despite never playing Quidditch or even hearing of it for most of his life, he enjoyed the sport from what he had seen in the matches of the last semester. He did not open a box just yet; he had a weird feeling of anticipation and was also a little scared of what he could eat. So for now, he just read some and flipped through the book.

Rose was heading out of her History of Magic class she enjoyed a lot. She was feeling content as she was smiling. Walking on her side was Skylar her best friend who was half sleeping through the class. Plus having this class at the end of the day was probably not helping. The day has been long and they both wanted to relax although Rose knew she had to study and were planning to study later in the evening. But for now she just wanted to have a break and awake Skylar who was almost sleep walking.

"Skylar why don't you like history of magic?" she curiously asked.
Rose knew her friend was a pure-blood and had heard a lot about it but still it was fascinating and always interesting to keep knowing more and more.

"Of course you don't have to like it especially as much as I do I'm just being curious." she said smiling to her friend.
"Although now we need to rest and having you woken up." she said teasingly.

Rose didn't know well where to go to but somewhere to have fresh air and not making think of classes. They were at the first floor so not too far from the courtyard where Rose liked going while taking a break when she was studying in the library.

"How about going to the courtyard? That will be refreshing!" she enthusiastically said to her friend as she walked backwards to face Skylar while smiling at her.

Rose quickened her pace as she took a stair to go down hoping Skylar was following her. Soon they reached the ground floor and headed towards the courtyard.

"It looks there is not many people here." Rose said having in view the courtyard "Except a boy sitting reading." she added as she was only seeing his figure which nevertheless appeared familiar to her as she looked more carefully.
"Wait we know that boy...Tall...Blond hair...Gryffindor." she described even if her friend may have seen him.

Rose looked at him seeing an open book in front of him. Was he reading? Then her eyes lay on what was standing next to his book. Every Flavour Beans. Two packages.

"Is he going to eat it all by himself?" Rose whispered to herself widening her eyes.

It appeared he seemed quite focused like last time giving her an idea. However he didn't really appreciate her scare so she should better not do it nevertheless Skylar...Rose turned towards her friend her light green eyes full of mischief hoping she would get her idea.

“She looked towards the dark, starry sky wishing she could drown in its vastness, the way one drifts in the deep, endless ocean.”

Little steps, marching slowly behind her friend. Drowsy eyes were on the edge between gazing and drifting away. The body was trying to fight back with her unconsciousness, and finally sped up her pace evenly to the girl. Two loose arms embraced a History book that she had no idea why it had to be as thick as her one hand couldn’t hold it safely.

Skylar liked listening to mysterious things as long as it related to the plants or creatures, but still, the class was boring her today as always. It seemed her friend was on the opposite side. Rose couldn’t hide a smile or her curious face when she was enjoying something at all. “I’ve tried, Rose. I really do.” She said while refusing to surrender to sleep. “But I don’t know why the story couldn’t capture me. I always feel sleepy in this class, especially when I already heard something twice.”

Even though she was too exhausted to attend this class, she understood why her friend appreciated it more than her. It could be fun to acknowledge the deep roots of the Wizarding World when you did not familiar to it or heard it in the first time. Skylar vaguely smiled to show some respect for her friend's choice, but the muscles of her lips were too tired to be moved. She just nodded along when Rose said she wanted to find a place for her to rest.

Little steps, just keep following her friend and end up in the courtyard. “Um… I feel a bit refreshed as you said.” It was luckily for her, finding a place that had some plants to look at. Some place that wasn’t in the greenhouse or outside the castle. Yet, she barely hung out in the courtyard, so this was the first time she intently focusing on.

It was peaceful when there weren’t too many people fooling and playing around. The sound of water from the fountain was so clear when there wasn’t too much noise from gossiping. Her glance stopped when her friend referred to the Gryffindor boy, wondering why he ended up here like them.

She didn’t pay attention what Rose mentioned about something in the box, only observing the boy reading a book alone. “Did he find something interesting again?” She murmured. Looking at the book with two wide eyes wondered. Last time was the hidden room. Is this time gonna be a hidden book? She just kept randomly guessing, considering, by the way she knew him and his restless curiosity.

As Rose signaled, asking for some mischief, she tilted her head and stretched her neck a few times before her wand was at the ready. Then, the tip of an ash wood stick started circling.

“Nive Percutio”

The snowballs came out of nowhere and hit the boy. Automatically troubled him everywhere he went. Skylar gigged in the corner with her friend, watching him evade the snowballs.

Wes continued to read his book. It relaxed him since it was actual leisure reading and he knew there was nothing academic about it that he needed to worry about.

The boy was already through half of the second chapter when a snowball caught him in the right shoulder. He turned in surprised to another that he just managed to duck his way out of. Wes swore under his breath, unintelligible to anyone, and he hopped up to try and dodge the other that came at him.

As he moved away from the table, with his chair now tipped over, Wes tried to look where the attacks came from. The Gryffindor actually drew his wand while surveying the courtyard and saw a pair of girls.

At first he did not notice who they were, he was moving too quickly as this had all happened in about ten seconds time. Wes did notice the raised wand of the one girl and with deft speed he flicked his wrist, but did not finish the incantation.

He did not finish because at the last moment he realized who the two people were. ‘Rose? Skylar?’ Wes thought as he lowered his left arm. However his recognition did not stop the last snowball that him square in the nose with a crunch.

Rose was standing at the edge of the courtyard Skylar next to her who had cast snowball spell. Wes was being hit with snowballs coming from everywhere. She couldn't help but laughing. He was running all around the courtyard to avoid the snowballs when the last one hit him in the face. Rose laughed even harder holding her stomach that was starting to hurt.

"Alright I think that is enough." she told Skylar still laughing.
"He will end up hating on us." she added while calming herself from laughing too hard.

It was true she didn't mean to annoy him too much or to be mean towards Wes. Last time she scared him already and this time he was receiving bewitched snowballs. It was some small pranks Rose didn't know she would like doing however it was funny and without harming. Of course she didn't want Wes to think she was doing it out of nastiness. She turned to Skylar.

"Let's go to him before he cast a spell not knowing it's us." she told her friend before starting to walk toward Wes.

As she was walking toward Wes she waved her hand to him.

"Wes! It's us!" she said loud enough for him to hear her.

She was smiling as she was happy to be with two close friends plus she knew that would be a good way to relax. As soon as she reached Wes she refrained from laughing thinking again at the snowballs hitting him from everywhere.

"Sorry about the snowballs. Last time I scared you and this time you received bewitched snowballs." she said with a small smile.
"Don't worry next time we will come to you like normal people". Rose laughed.
"Anyways we were just heading to have some fresh air here after our History of Magic class. And since you are here Rose turned to Skylar smiling while giving her a quick wink "we can definitely have a lot of fun together!" she said enthusiastically.
Rose walked towards the table Wes was siting at earlier and glanced quickly at the book he was riding.
"Quidditch." she whispered with a small smile before laying her green light eyes to the two packages of Every Flavour Beans. Her smile got wider.

"Don't tell me you were going to eat all of this by yourself?" she looked at Wes with a raised eyebrow before turning to Skylar her eyes sparkling.

Skylar put down her wand, but it couldn’t stop her from giggling. Rose was kind as always, deciding to show up and confessing easily. She followed her friend toward Wes and smiled. “Are you alright?”

Even though it was her fault for making him run around in the open air, yet still concerned after noticing his red nose, she was a bit scare he might catch a cold. Skylar pointed her finger at her nose while looking straight at him. She signaled that there were some snowflakes still left on his face, hoping he would understand her.

When Rose mentioned Quidditch, she walked to see the book. It wasn’t something special as she thought it would be. It’s just a normal book with a boring topic for her. She arched her eyebrow with curiosity. “So, you're here just to read a book?” That surprised her to see he also had a nerd side.

“Do you plan to play Quidditch soon? I would definitely watch it if you do.” She was smiling and glancing at Rose, hoping the girl also agreed to what she said. It was actually weird for her to cheer for another house, but it would be fun to see how he react if there was a chicken mascot in the field.

Her eyes glanced down as she heard Rose ask about the two boxes near the book. Her mind suddenly drifted away. This was a perfect time for her to get something sweet, restoring her stamina after being sleepy all day. She knew the stake was high if she ate Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. But if she were lucky and found the sweet one, she could be on cloud nine right now.

Skylar was silent the whole time, with her mind imagining how it felt after she got a cotton candy flavor. Her mouth was almost drooling, and her eyes gazing afar, not sure if someone had noticed her soul already left the body to the sky, just because of the picture in her mind satisfied her.

From the distance it was harder to tell, but as the two would move closer they could tell that Wes’ face had turned from a hue of red back to his usual skin color. The boy looked angry at first, and confused, at the pair.

Once Rose announced who they were, which he had already noticed, his anger faded to annoyance and then to a bit of embarrassment. Thankfully the boy was wearing a winter cap that had been covering his ears for they grew, though if one was close enough they would have been able to see their indentions on his cap.

“Yeah. I’m alright.” Wes responded with a shrug before wiping the rest of the snow off of his nose.

He then arched a brow at the Slytherin girl. This was a decent place to read. “Yeah, I’d mostly just planned on reading out here. Though next time… I might stay indoors where I don’t have to worry about a two crazy girls attacking me.” At first the way he narrowed his eyes at her would have indicated he was angry at them both, but then he smirked to show that those emotions, if any, had passed. “You two are both mad witches. Can’t even leave a guy in piece.”

When Rose had mentioned the beans, Wes turned back to look at the table again. He had actually forgotten the boxes were there. “Oh yeah, no. I’ve never had any and so someone gave me two boxes. I was going to try some today. See if they actually have all those weird flavors or if someone is messing with me.” He then shrugged and with a usual sarcastic tone Wes said, “Maybe I will eat two boxes, if that is okay Professor Pearce.” The way he said it was dry, but he was definitely teasing her.

Then noticing Skylar’s stare at the things he smirked and rolled his eyes. “Would you two like to join me?”

Being called crazy and a mad witch made Rose laugh. Surprisingly she was rather taking it as a compliment. She was glad their small prank made its effect on Wes as she looked at Skylar mischievously hoping her friend would gave her back the same look. However when Rose's eyes fell upon her best friend she smiled at the view. It seemed as if Skylar body were here but her soul not anymore. At first Rose noticed Skylar was looking towards the table where the boxes of Every Flavour Beans were before her sight looked as if it were lost in a parallel world. She surely was dreaming of one of the bean's flavour. Perhaps.

Rose looked back at Wes when his voice came to her ears as she raised an eyebrow at the way Wes called her.

"Professor Pearce?" she looked at him astonished. "Really?" she scoffed.

She then narrowed her eyes looking at him getting into his teasing.

"I will be obliged to confiscate them if you don't want to get sick Mister Morrow." she answered on the same dry tone as him growing herself up although she was clearly way smaller than him. She then laughed not able to keep her seriousness.

Then she looked back at Skylar who was now clearly gone into some dreams at the look of her face. Rose still her eyes on Skylar quietly answered to Wes question about them joining him.

"I think it's a yes from Skylar according to the look on her face." she commented smiling at the view of her friend.
"I wonder which one she is dreaming of." said Rose thoughtfully.

She went to the table before looking at the boxes and then at her two best friends not sure Skylar has come back to them yet.

"The one who picks the bean chose to whoever they want to give it. But the one who takes it from the package can't eat it although they would want." Rose smiled mischievously.
"What guys do you think?" she asked hoping they may have other ideas to make it even funnier.

They were surely going to have a great time.

All the echoes of her friend's conversation drifted through her ears, but couldn’t go through to her mind. Until Rose decided to mention Skylar in her sentence. “Yes? What?” She genuinely frowned. “Dreaming? Oh! Sorry. I am so sleepy today.” She thought they talked about her being cut out of the moment, as her daydreaming posture had clearly shown that even she could notice herself.

But, with the look of humor on their face, she began to understand that she wasn’t the topic at all. Her eyes were still empty like her body was here, but her mind was somewhere else. Then, Rose started to suggest something she craved for. Skylar’s consciousness immediately straightened back to the little, excited face of her own.

A small smirk created in the corner of her lips. “Then, who got the good one must be the person who started the next turn, and had the right to pick the beans for the other two. That would be awesome!” Her eyes shone bright with sparkle, like all her energy was coming back.

“What do you think?” Skylar grabbed one box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and shook it like she was rolling a dice before she stopped. “And… who would like to start first?”

Pick your bean here!

Wes swiftly reached for the box and moved it from the reach of Rose. "Nope. I worked too hard convincing that Third Year that I couldn't play Gobstones for these." He said with a smirk. The boy had tricked the other student into a wager by acting as if he did not know the rules at all. "I'm just a poor Muggle-born boy, I can't learn these fancy wizarding games easily." His voice was a mocking tone, joking of course, and not exactly what he had said to aforementioned Third-Year, but Wes did con the guy into thinking he was some ignorant kid.

After Skylar grabbed the other box, Wes quickly turned his over so that one bean dropped into the palm of his hand. The bean was a light pink, and he only glanced at it for a half-second before popping it into his mouth. It was sweet, with notes of vanilla and strawberry that lightly stuck to his tongue. "Ooh, I think this tastes like Cotton Candy. And people say that these can be bad!"

With that being said, Wes dumped out one more of the exact same color. Without hesitation, he popped it into his mouth again. Once more, he took a bite into a nice bean of cotton candy and smirked. "I guess I'm just that lucky, huh?" Wes said with a smirk as he nudged Rose with his shoulder. "Sorry... explain your rules again, Bookworm?" Wes mentioned, smirking at her but then looking to Skylar and chuckling lightly. "She has another name she loves to go by... but I don't want to overuse it."
