Dialogue: #4682b4 Interacting with: @Rosalyn Willows Date: September 1st, 2025
Edward listened as she spoke, head tilted slightly, eyes flicking between her and the window. He nodded along now and then, even when she rambled a little, like she was thinking out loud more than actually talking to him directly. He didn’t mind it. It made the conversation feel easier.
At her question about Defence Against the Dark Arts, he gave a small shrug.
“That’s basically how I understand it,” he said. “Not just people, though. Curses, creatures… probably things you really don’t want sneaking up on you in a corridor.”
The mention of Potions made him huff out a quiet laugh, shoulders lifting as he leaned back against the seat.
“That’s one way to put it,” he said. “I’ve heard timing and measurements matter a lot. Which probably means I’ll blow something up by accident at least once.”
He paused, then added quickly, clearly joking.
“Hopefully not anything important, like a classmate. I don’t intend on getting expelled in the first year.”
When she brought up Herbology, his expression shifted without him even trying to hide it. Not disgusted, exactly, just… unconvinced.
Her last question made him hesitate. Edward looked down at his hands for a moment, rubbing his thumb along his sleeve, before answering.
“I read a lot,” he said. “Mostly adventure books. Stuff where people get dropped somewhere unfamiliar and have to work it out as they go.” After a beat, he added, “I like exploring too. There’s some woods behind our home in York, and I’d make up stories there all the time.”
He shrugged, as if suddenly aware it might sound a bit childish, then continued anyway.
“I draw sometimes as well. Just sketches. Nothing special.”

"Wait, really? You're from York? I am, too! That's so neat!" Rosalyn said, quite surprised that they're from the same place. Or, well, at least, they're from places near each other, obviously they didn't grow up like together, because that was the first time they'd met.
"I love reading, too. It's just so nice sometimes. Escaping into another world, one where things are just a lot different, a lot easier, it seems. I'm not huge on adventure, but I do love Fantasy." she said, trying to stop herself from rambling. She could go on for quite some time about books and genres and reading, but she doubted that Red would want to talk about that the whole train ride.
"And please don't blow up anything, let alone a classmate. That would really stink, both for them and for you." she said, thinking about how bad that could be for everyone and anyone involved.
"I am not artistic. Like at all. I can write, sing a little, but I can't do any physical art. People who can are always so cool to me, I've never been able to draw, paint, sculpt, nothing like that." she said, which was the truth. She was horrible at all things like that.
*Yawn*
"Sorry, I guess I'm a bit tired. Do you...do you mind if I take a nap?" she asked, already feeling herself begin to drift off slightly. She didn't want to go to sleep, but sleeping was most definitely the better option than being exhausted through her entire first day.
