Earlier that day, I'd been to borrow a broom, and now I was outside on the flying grounds, with the broom on the floor in front of me. I'd decided that morning to practise my flying, as I'd signed up for the waitlist for the Ravenclaw Broom Racing team, and I needed to work on flying quickly, while also casting spells.
I tied my hair back into a ponytail, before putting my hand out over the broom, a whispering:
"Up!"
The broom flew up into my hand, and I mounted it, making sure my bag was firmly attached onto my shoulder, before pushing off the floor.
After a few slow laps around the field, I went to the edge of the field, and, after rolling my neck once, I set off, and raced to the other side of the pitch, keeping my balance.
Then, I went again, slightly slower, and pulled out my wand. I made a spiral with my wand, and said "Fumos", watching as a screen of smoke appeared in front of me. "Good." That meant that it would be harder for other people to cast spells at me.
Then, I saw a movement below me, so slowly went down to the ground, where I saw a girl who seemed a little bit younger than me, struggling to summon her broom.
I landed, and went over to her. "Hey" I said quietly, "Do you need help there?". I waited for a second, looking at her, before I realised that I'd seen her before.
"Have we met before? On the train?"

Lindsey never knew she was bad at flying. She had even signed up for quidditch but summoning her broom was hard. "UP," she said as loud as possible trying to let the broom know she was in control. She just couldn't do it. She watched a girl, maybe second year, summon fog. It was amazing. She wish she could do that, well she wish she gets on her broom. How bad was it going to be when she finally got on the broom if she ever could? Would she break an arm? Or a leg? What about her neck? This was a dangerous sport. She was only riding a school broom too. Imagine a better broom, this would be nuts.
She watched the girl some more and then tried to summon her broom again. "Up! UP UPPPPP!" Lindsey yelled. The was horrible. She could just imagine showing up to quidditch practice if she ever got on the team, not being able to summon a broomstick. She would be the most important player and this was her only chance. She had to do this but she couldn't. "Right grip, say if firmly but not to weird, after all broomsticks can feel what your feeling after all."
Remembering that made her feel better. She looked up and the girl was gone, well not gone but actually right beside her. "Help, would be nice."
She asked if Lindsey wanted help. The girl asked Lindsey

When the girl said that help would be good, I smiled, and said, “I know that this isn’t what you get taught to do, but I find it easier just to say up, instead of shout it. All that matters is you have to be firm with the broom.”
I looked around at that moment, and saw that there was someone watching us - a girl with hair that was half black, half blue. She had a slightly sad look on her face, and didn’t seem to have a broom with her, just a book, meaning she was probably studying. The flying pitch was quite a strange place to study, particularly during the winter, however, the grass was very soft, so it would’t be uncomfortable.
Making my mind up, I waved a little bit at her, then quickly stopped, realising how stupid I felt. Then, I just settled for a smile.
I turned back around to the girl with the broom, who I was now certain was the one who had been sitting in the corner of the compartment, reading her book.
I bit my lip slightly, before asking, “What’s your name? I think I introduced myself on the train, but in case I didn’t, I’m Mirada.”

"My name's Lindsay. I think we did meet on the train with other girls. I'm really bad flying. Thanks for helping me, do you know the girl there? The one reading the book she's staring at us."
Lindsay was nervous, she was being stared at helped, and she's really was really bad at flying, she couldn't believe it, she was getting stared at. embarrassment. That's what it was.
Your name Miranda, that's a nicename. Lindsay, oh wait, I already said that, sorry, I'm not used to this people. this thing, what's. girl's name anyways, is she...? Nothing never mind. I don't know what I'm talking about, do I... should I go say hi, maybe... I don't know what to do. Maybe give me an insight.
Lindsay was embarrassed, Lindsay was embarrassed, she was just talking to a girl. Her friend about final broom, and now she's trying to get some insight to talk to other girls. What is she ridiculous or something this is uncalled for It reminded her of time when she was sitting on her mom's lap talking about boys. That was a werid conversation. Absolutely werid. Can't life just be easy? Or even fun? Why is everything so hard?
