Seven Paths, One Room
I just stood there, my brain trying to decided whether to cast Fumos and run, or just play nice.
But before I could spiral further down the rabbit hole, my attention snapped toward the door. My name echoing across the room from a voice I knew.
I looked up to see Natasha standing there, staring at me like I’d appeared in the wrong chapter of her book.
“Natasha?” I replied, I didn't know whether I should be more shocked it was someone I knew or relieved. “Didn’t expect to see you tonight. Or, honestly, anyone. I was just expecting to nip down, get lost, find notes and get back to common room before...well getting caught” my gaze grifted across the group again.
Now Natasha was here I had managed to calm down. I knew with her quick wit we could get out of trouble. Just as I started to head in her direction, one of the Hufflepuff girls stepped up and introduced herself.
“Uh...hi Isabella,” I said, trying my best to give her a tired but friendly smile. “I’m Cane. First year. Gryffindor and chronically lost, professionally confused. Honestly not sure how I ended up in...well” I waved an arm to point at almost all of them, “this.”
Just as I was trying to figure things out, Isabella, decided to call us a group. Well, my brain pretty much short circuited.
Group...Group, how in Merlin's beard did this happen. One person out at curfew, well ok. Two, I could believe it. But six, now its pushing the bounds of...believability.
“Seriously,” I mumbled under my breath “I only left my common room to find my missing notes and somehow walked straight into a club meeting of the...insomniacs? Delinquents? Navigationally challenged. A club I didn’t even know I was joining? Well, I fit 2 of those so who am I kidding”
“A name, huh?” I said, slipping my hands into my pockets. “Well… if we’re all breaking curfew together, guess we might as well make it sound official.”
I let out a soft chuckle.
“Just...please...nothing with ‘detention’ in it. I’m really, really trying to avoid that, at least for my first year.”

Seven Paths, One Room
Stealth. Deception. Evasion. Everything that made Joseph a good ninja... or so he thought.
Behind a pillar, Joseph crouched, holding his breath. The torchlights flickered, and a sudden warmth prickled along the back of his neck.
He risked a glance back. Nothing. No one knew he was here.
"Okay, bud," he whispered, turning back to his pet rock. Astra fixed him with a blank stare, as if he'd just suggested motion-powered aromatherapy toothbrushes for lunch. Mmm... toothbrushes. Perhaps he should give it a go someday.
He cleared his throat. "Anyways, here's the plan. We sneak up and hide, then listen closely for juicy information. If anything goes wrong, ya charm everyone with your cuteness. Ready?"
Astra looked like she wanted to facepalm. Too bad rocks didn't have hands.
"Sweet. Let's go!"
Darting forward, Joseph whipped out a pair of non-existent shurikens, knees bent like a lion ready to pounce. Backup plan, in case Astra somehow failed him. Not that she ever had. Astra's adorable gaze was more deadly than a tank of poison gas.
"We're here," Joseph said, pressing his cheek against the cool door frame. "Now's the easy part. We listen and sp- AH!"
He slipped, and the world tilted. Everything swirled around him. A mush of light and colour, as if he was falling through a rainbow. Rainbow. He loved rainbows. He loved unicorns too.
Something snacked him in the chin, before his body hit in the floor in a crumpled heap. Right before the open doorway.
Joseph groaned, curling into a ball. Great. Just the epic entrance he needed. So much for being sneaky.
Deception, he remembered, ignoring the throbbing ache in his ankle. That's what made a ninja a good ninja. He just needed a good disguise to fool everyone.
I'm a rock. he thought desperately, swaying for dramatic effect. A huge one that rolled down the stairs and stopped here. Please don't mind me. Totally not a dimwit ninja called Joseph with two braincells and a pet rock.
Perception always altered reality, according to his brother. Then again, his brother wasn't exactly the most trustworthy kid in the block.
He cracked an eye open. Six pairs of eyes stared back.
Joseph groaned, pushing himself upright. The rock gambit had failed him big time.
"You didn't do your job, Astra,"he muttered, jabbing a thumb at her. "Ya were supposed to help, but someone-" he glared at her. "- didn't do her job."
Astra stayed rock. Still stupidly cute.
Joseph huffed, turning to the six strangers in the room. Six. Not just two. Were Joseph's ninja counting skills really so poor?
He ran a hand through his hair, gaze darting from mysterious stranger to mysterious stranger. Girl with messy hair. Another with wavy black hair. A lean, curious boy. A redhead. A girl with smooth, brown skin. And... another with curly blue hair.
Joseph's jaw slackened. That was... a lot of hair types.
Miss Messy Hair spoke up, mentioning something about a 'hideout' and 'destiny'. A group. And it seemed like Joseph was included.
He froze. His mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.
"Wait wait wait- what? We don’t even... even know each other..."
No one seemed to notice his protests as the conversation sped past like a bolting freight train. Guess he'd have to opt for travel by giant rocket-propelled hedgehog instead.
Joseph gulped, struggling to catch on to what everyone was saying. A group name. Something about snacks. Delinquents. Detention.
He raised his arms for attention. "Um, hi, Joseph here. Look, I don't know what's going on, but if we wanna stay out of detention we probably shouldn't leave the lights on here."
Boom. Logic. Never would have guessed Joseph was capable of that.
"As for the name... something fun and stupid maybe?"
He smiled, glancing down at Astra. So much potential for a name. They could be the mysterious Fizzowumpo. Or the mighty Crangledoodles. Complete with flapping capes and deranged group chants.
Yes, the Crangledoodles. He liked that.
Joseph flashed Miss Messy Hair a sheepish grin, proposing the stupidest name ever proposed in Hogwarts history.
Maybe not all that stupid. They'd strike fear into the hearts of all. Sneak, trip, panic, repeat. Perfect.
All hail the Crangledoodles!! KEPATEE KEPATEE KAAAA!!

Seven Paths, One Room
Althea slipped into the room and let out a relieved sigh, she’d escaped being caught… for now. When she finally looked up, she found several faces staring back at her. A few she recognized from the Hufflepuff common room, but others were completely unfamiliar.
“Hi, everyone,” she murmured. A couple of students offered small smiles, and the tension in her chest eased. Judging by their expressions, they were just as surprised as she was to find they weren’t the only ones wandering the castle at this hour.
Suddenly a dark-haired girl spoke up. “Holy—okay, plot twist. I thought this was going to be my ‘quiet emotional breakdown in an abandoned room’ moment, but apparently it’s turning into Hogwarts’ unexpected sleepover.”
The comment made Althea giggle softly to herself.
She knew this girl from the common room. She’d always seemed so effortlessly cool and outgoing, the complete opposite of Althea. She’d never quite worked up the courage to talk to her before. Now, the girl was casually asking what had brought everyone out of bed, and the six students exchanged helpless looks.
“Well… I couldn’t sleep,” Althea said softly. “I thought a walk might help, but, here I am. I didn’t expect so many of us to be roaming around the castle.”
Before anyone could respond, a new voice chimed in. “We should have a name if we’re going to be some sort of group!”
Althea turned to see the speaker. The voice came from a younger girl with curly brown hair and the kind of face that made her instantly familiar. Althea remembered her from the Sorting Ceremony and seeing her in the common room after classes.
A name. Althea found herself smiling at the idea. She’d never really been part of a group before, and suddenly the room didn’t feel like a gathering of strangers anymore. It felt strangely, wonderfully, like the beginning of something. Like the start of friends.

"We should have a name, if we're going to be some sort of group!"
Natasha grinned at the girl that said this- Isabella, she noted to herself. "Well, what kind of group will we be? If it's a study group for future careers or whatever, then I'm out!" she said teasingly, smiling at everyone.
“Didn’t expect to see you tonight. Or, honestly, anyone. I was just expecting to nip down, get lost, find notes and get back to common room before...well getting caught”
"I didn't really expect anyone to be here either. Well, I don't think any of us did, based on our expressions, but we're here now so we should do something fun."
"Sneak out to the Great Lake for a dip, pull a prank, make plans for world domination", she suggested idly.
Natasha glanced around at the individual faces, trying to decipher what each of them were thinking. Suddenly, her eyes landed on the desk near the back, and she hurried towards it, grabbing her notebook and skimming through the pages, hoping no one had looked throuhg it. She clutched it to her chest protectively, ignoring the inquisitive looks being sent her way as she returned.
She quickly grabbed a chair from a nearby desk and moved it towards the front of the room. "Well if we are planning on world domination, might as well get comfortable while we plan!"

Seven Paths, One Room
– HUFFLEPUFF GIRLS’ DORMITORY → SECOND-FLOOR ABANDONED CLASSROOM –
The conversation was sweeping y, words flying here and there. Plans on.....world domination and chaos??? Who thought of that?
.............ohhhh right, I did.
Anyways Maddy giggled and smiled "Okay, Okay, we are alottt of people, Well, I am Madeline but people call me Maddy for short." She looked over at Lily who was standing by her side, "This is Lils. My bestie, thought You call her Lily." She playfully glared at the other.
"So through your introductions...." She looked over at the group and pointed at everyone individually, "Cane, Joseph, Isabella...." She looked at the other two girls, "And you two....sorry if I missed your name." She smiled sheepishly.
The room was full on indistinct chatter. And, Maddy just seemed to realize that Joseph was carrying a....rock? Interesting. She realized she was staring at the rock for a long time with a confused face. Hopefully Joseph didnt realize. She snapped out of it towards the group again.
Well Intro's done.
Lets binge through group names.
Oh I already feel like we are starting a legacy. The start of a golden era. Who knows? The next prankster group in Hogwarts could be them.
"Oh and by the way, Lets actually close the lights and try to be quiet, lets not get caught on our first adventure, yeah?"

"Okay, Okay, we are a lot of people, Well, I am Madeline but people call me Maddy for short." Maddy introduced herself to the people "This is Lils. My bestie, thought You call her Lily.", introducing her as well.
Lily scanned the surroundings, looking at the five people standing besides her and Maddy. She sort of knew the boy wearing the Hufflepuff scarf, she had seen him several times in the common room and apparently a senior Hufflepuff and Althea and Isabella, who were two of the first-years in Hufflepuff. That left two more, a boy who was supposedly in Gryffindor judging by the red and yellow scarf and a girl who was in Ravenclaw apparently. She had seen the girl somewhere, though she didn't know where. The Gryffindor boy introduced himself as Cane. Maybe she had seen him in one of the classes? She shrugged her shoulders and listened to the conversation which was flowing in the room.
"We should have a name, if we're going to be some sort of group!", Isabella said. Lily agreed immediately, maybe they could be the secret group, the one people wouldn't believe were together. She started going through group names in her brain. Tricksters? Nah, too simple... Pawprints? Nope, doesn't fit the vibe.... Mischief 2.0? Seems..... Perfect!
She broke out of her mind's thoughts as she heard Maddy say, "Oh and by the way, Lets actually close the lights and try to be quiet, lets not get caught on our first adventure, yeah?" Quiet? Lily? Nah, she had probably knock something down or stub her toe and whimper. But she still nodded along, agreeing with her.....

Isa sat down on a desk. She didn't know what to do next. She should probably go back to her dorm, but she didn't want to. Maybe she could read a book?
Isa mentally face palmed. She hadn't brought a book, or anything to do, for that matter! She sighed and then realized something, and her eyes lit up. It was a classroom, so there were probably books (even if they were on school subjects)!
She walked over to a shelf and scanned it for anything interesting.
Aha! Advanced Alchemy, year 6. Advanced Charms, year 7. Herbology, year 5. Nope, she would not understand it, but why not give alchemy a go? She started to read it and understood absolutely nothing, but that was okay. She needed something to keep her occupied.
Isa was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard a scratching sound. "Huh." Had someone caught them already? Isa was starting to get a little worried, but only a little. She looked outside and caught a glimpse of trees scratching against each other.
"Only trees." Then she heard another voice. "Oh and by the way, Lets actually close the lights and try to be quiet, lets not get caught on our first adventure, yeah?"
Isa smiled. "Hear, hear." She whispered. Who knew what this year would have in store for this newly formed group, brought together only by the sheer luck of wandering around in the same place at night. They were truly a miracle.
