Summer had come and gone... Camp had gone rather well and after the fiasco with the way she had parted from her father at the start of the summer, Lark had been somewhat excited to go home. Even if he hadn't given her a solid answer to whether she would come back or not, the letter than had arrived the day before the last train home from camp had given her a far better answer. It may have meant that her trip would be farther from her parents and to see her Gran but the time had been spent well enough. Still secluded to her families manor in Lisdoonvarna just meant more time enjoying the horses and scenery around her Grandmother's home. Granted... it would have been nice if her Gran had been the one to bring her to the Platform and not a driver... even that morning she had been practically rushed out of the house, Lark's stomach still gnawing at her insides having skipped breakfast. She figured that the stash of money the driver had passed along from her Gran was meant as an apology. How kind... Lark would've rather a hug goodbye.

Either way here stood the silver haired girl, her small frame almost dwarfed by the large trunk she had in tow. Nervously dragging the trunk along the platform, one of the train attendant had kindly helped her stash it away with the other passenger luggage before ushering her aboard. Clutching her hands on the leather straps to her bag nestled against her back, she pulled on them making the bag hug closer to her. She squeezed in and out of other students trying to excuse herself as she cut in between a group of much older looking girls who seemed in the midst of a rather heated discussion as to who was sitting with who for the trip. As Lark passed by the compartments her golden eyes peered into each one trying to see if she could spot an empty one. Most appeared to be quite full... or at least have a passenger in them. She didn't feel too keen on interrupting especially since some of the faces were buried in books or papers.

Nervously excusing herself past another group of students, anxiety crashing over the girl and making her feel sicker by the moment, just now feeling claustrophobic the further she traversed into the train. Small beads of sweat were sliding their way down her freckled face. Just one more thing to make her all the more aware of the stares she mostly likely was getting, or wasn’t but anxiety was starting to take its toll on her nerves. ’Alright… the next one I just… need to hop in and sit..’ There hadn’t been this many others when she had taken the train last time. Sliding her hand along the wall, Lark felt for the next compartment door latch and pulled on it. Her head felt like it was underwater from all the noise as more and more students were finding their way onto the train and rushing by or yelling across the hall to other friends they hadn’t seen all summer. Rushing into the compartment she quickly slid the door behind her as if the shut out the world only muffling the laughter and chatter.

As the blood rushing in her ears began to fade she looked around the compartment. Empty. Letting out a long breath of relief she yanked the bag off of her back and tossed it onto the padded bench. If she was lucky maybe another couple of first years would find her.. Or the ride would be quiet much like her first one. Another rumble rose up from her stomach making her hand grip at her shirt. Hopefully the trolley lady had some decent snacks on her today! In the meantime she would make herself cozy and plop down in her seat, legs stretched out in front of her and journal on her lap with her hands gently crossed over the cover. Nothing to do now but wait til the train departed..

It had taken a bit of finagling to actually get AJ aboard the Hogwarts express, mostly at the bequest of his mother, whom despite her doubts about sending her son off to a magic wizarding school still wanted to support him and do her best to make sure he had the perfect start to his school life. As such, she booked herself and her son a holiday to London. Seeing as he would have to go to Diagon Alley anyway to pick up his supplies. Professor Lear had informed AJ's family that they were close enough to the castle for him to come home and find an alternate means of entry instead of the Hogwarts express but his Mother wouldn't hear of it. She wanted him to have a chance to make friends on the trip over, not rock up once everyone already had their groups and social cliques.

So through a convoluted mess of motherly intervention, AJ found himself (eventually) at the mystical Platform Nine and Three Quarters. It had taken the muggle-born a good long while to find until he eventually realised that the people walking towards the pillar between platforms nine and ten weren't re-emerging in any fashion. Not wanting to be later than he already was, he attempted to step through the wall, and he did. He was taken away by the mysticism of the invisible platform until he realised he had left his things behind and quickly went back to retrieve them.

The staff assisted him with packing away his luggage. He wished his mother could've come to see him off but it seemed there were certain rules about muggle presence he was going to have to get used to. His parents had both had to sign numerous pieces of paperwork swearing them to secrecy. There was no chance either of them were going to be risked seeing the platform. He took a deep breath, watching as other families saw each other on to the train. He saw a father depart from his two children, as the man turned, a wallet dropped down beneath him. AJ heard the train whistle, the last call, but he couldn't just let that man walk away. AJ imagined the father, stressed and worried about his lost property. Surely the young wizard could be fast enough? He sprinted towards the dropped accessory, attempting to scoop it up in his hand as he went before missing and having to turn back around to carefully retrieve it.

"Eckscuse meh!" He called to the gentleman, who turned around just before the exist, looking a tad confused until he saw the boy waving the wallet around. "Sorreh Ser...ye dropped thus." He handed the item back to the grateful Father, however in all the excitement, he hadn't heard the spokes of the train begin to turn.

The train was slowly pulling away from the platform! He was about to miss the bloody train! With all his stuff on it! In a panic, blood pumping in his ears he sprinted towards the slowly moving behemoth, pounding on the iron doors. "Oi! Oi! Pleas' somwon opun thuh dooer!" He called, to no avail, either the people inside couldn't hear him or they simply did not care. The train was picking up speed now, it seemed all was lost. Until AJ spotted his salvation...

An open window...

Sprinting forward before his brain could catch up and warn him what he was doing was stupid. He leapt towards the opened window with outstretched arms, clinging on to the side just as the train pulled away from the platform, the boy narrowly avoiding getting struck by a concrete wall. "Oh jings crivens and help my boab." He grunted, trying to pull himself in before the wind resistance became too much and he was sent flying. Just barely managing to crawl his way into the compartment. He hit the seat with a thud, dusting himself off and resecuring his backpack, he grinned smugly. "Haha, AJ one...treen, zeeroo." He remarked to himself, at least, he thought it was just himself. It was only when he turned his head that he realised this compartment was very much occupied, by a likely scared or at the very least confused young girl.

He looked back at the window, then back to the girl, then to the window, then back to the girl. His loosely curled hair was a windswept mess over his face, he made some meagre attempt to fix it as he smiled gently. "Ehm...us it okee uf I seet here? I wos...ehm...stroogling teh feend uh seet." He requested as casually as he could manage, having just come in through the window.

The girl herself was quite beautiful, with silver locks of hair and enchanting golden eyes, all of it combining to increase the Aberdonian's nervousness with this whole situation.

"Ehm...well E'm...e'm, e'm AJ..." He stammered an introduction, extending a hand to the girl. "Am new ef ye could nay tell." It was a rubbish introduction, but at least it was an introduction.

As the train jolted forward, Lark felt her nerves quell. Returning to Hogwarts gave the girl a sense of calm, even if it meant finally being sorted into a house and having to meet new faces all over again. Summer she had managed to hide out in the cabins and only attended the Flying Instructor's birthday party as far as socializing had gone. Shifting in her seat, Lark leaned towards her bag on the floor when a loud noise made her jolt into a standing position.

Was someone outside the window ... muttering?? Lark stood frozen as her eyes settled on a boy who was struggling to pull himself through the window!? Her mouth hung agape unable to move to help or do much of anything beyond watch the comical and also slightly unsettling event unfold before her. A part of her wanted to reach out and give a hand to him, worried that if she didn't he would be tossed from the side of the train but her muscles tensed. In truth her mind was still trying to process that someone was actually trying to pull themselves into the compartment from the outside of the train.

In what appeared to be one swift motion the boy had hefted himself through the window and was tossed into the seat where she had been sitting moments before. As he praised himself, Lark stood with her lips parted in awe in front of him before feeling her knees buckle sending her back into a seated position on the other bench across from her new compartment mate. She studied him closely, brown hair askew on his head like a tangled nest and deep blue eyes staring back at her sending a rush of scarlet across her cheeks.

"Ehm...us it okee uf I seet here? I wos...ehm...stroogling teh feend uh seet."

Sitting across from him still looking dumbfounded, Lark squinted at the boy trying to decipher what he was saying through the thick accent. Sounded as if he was asking to sit here with her. Giving a small nod she returned a smile. "O..of..course." She couldn't believe how utterly composed he was for the athletic display he just had gone through to board from the platform.

"Ehm...well E'm...e'm, e'm AJ..."

Gingerly taking the boy's hand at his introduction, "I'm Lark." Trying to not let her voice waver she let go of his hand and leaning backwards into her seat. "I'mma be new ta Hogwarts too." Picking up her journal from where she had dropped it, Lark set it next to her on the bench. "So.. eh.." She paused for a moment and covered her mouth to hold in a small laugh. Now that AJ was out of harms way it did seem more amusing to replay his entrance over in her mind. "Do ya always make such ah grand entrance?" Biting at her lower lip again she tried to hide the smirk growing on her face. If anything the whole ordeal had made her more intrigued.

The pair shook hands, the lad shaking more firmly than the lass. He could tell she was still a bit scared of him and he couldn't really blame her. He probably seemed like a right weirdo, someone who had no clue how the hell a train works. As their hands released however he could see her relax a little bit, as if her brain had finally accepted the strangeness she had just borne witness to.

He took a moment to commit her name to memory. "Lark...Llllaark..." He mulled the name over a few times his accent naturally putting a bit too much emphasis on the 'R' sound in her name. He had no such struggle with her last name. "Thus sucha goo' neem. Us et leek tha bird?" He asked before quickly covering his bases with "Wai' us et rude teh usk tha'? Sorreh..." He apologised, knowing some people didn't enjoy their names being read into, he certainly didn't.

He sat down on the seat opposite her and took a breath, setting his backpack down gently next to him and making a futile effort to fix his messy hair. Lark seemed to had calmed down a bit in the meantime, even making some small conversation which caused AJ to laugh. "Ah hah, heh..." He blushed a little bit as his laughter slowed and he tried to think of a witty response. "Only to impress pretty girls." He played it off cool but mentally kicked himself, that was a line his Dad would think was great for getting women interested, but it was too late now, he'd said it. He barely even noticed Lark's looks of intrigue and interest.

As the conversation continued and the train started to pick up speed AJ began to feel hungry. He reached into his backpack and began to rifle through the numerous wrapped sandwiches his mother had prepared for him. He'd hardly even been able to pack much else in for all the sandwiches she'd sent him off with. He finally retrieved his favourite, Ham with cheese and egg covered in ketchup. He munched away on the sandwich as he heard his companion's stomach rumble audibly. He looked at her belongings and wondered why she hadn't taken something yet. He looked to her, then to the bag, then to her again. "Soo are yeh...are yeh goin' teh eat somethin'?" He asked through mouthfuls.

Whether Lark made an excuse or claimed she wasn't hungry AJ's natural instincts would kick in and he would begin rifling through his bag again. "Nay teh worry, uh've go' enough fud teh feed a vullage." He would start pulling out different sandwiches, all wrapped in cling-film, placing them on the table between them.

"We go' Ham n Cheese, Roas' beef, Chucken n Lettuce, Jus' chucken...ehm...Egg, Jam and Butter...Marmi'e if yer a nutcase." He joked, looking her over to see if she showed any interest. "Oh hol' on, fer vegetarian optiuns we go' Spunach n Lettuce, Jus' Cheese, Cheese n Tomato, Lettuce n Tomato, Cheese n Lettuce n Tomato, Cheese n Lettuce n Spunach n Tomato or one wi' sundwich spreed." He finished listing, seeing if she took any of the now displayed sandwiches. "Eef yer a vegun um afreed yer a bi' oota luck."

Another flush of pink soaked the girl's cheeks as the boy worked through her first name. His accent was so very different from any she had heard before, not that she had admittedly heard many people speak beyond her family and anyone else in Cork.

"Ye, just like the bird." She grinned thinking of her father's version of the story as to why her parents chose the name. "It's alright, must seem sorta strange compared ta other names I suppose." Lark had no real reference to go off of but she wasn't about to admit her sheltered lifestyle to a possibly new friend just to scare him away. The thought of getting into the same house and ruining his first impression of her only to make her some sort of butt of every joke with her fellow housemates made her uneasy. Although as she continued to study the boy's features she didn't pick up any sort of cruel or unkind energy from him. Perhaps she was being too paranoid. If only she had more knowledge of socializing with her own peers... trying to gauge reactions ot appropriate responses was still a continued frustration for her. In fact she was hardly prepared for his response.

Lark let out a nervous laugh almost as a knee jerk reaction to the mention of pretty. She never had thought of her looks in any way and even then figured compared to all other girls was rather plain. Her parent's always fluffed her self confidence but that was their job wasn't it? Heat burned her freckled face as she cast her eyes down to her boots, heels digging into the floor. 'P..pretty?!' A tingle ran along her spine and into her arms as she folded them in her lap. What should she even say to that? What was the right response? She tried to think of what her mother would say but the only thing that came to mind blurted itself from her lips. "Pretty fair yerself." She had heard it as a response often from her mother to her father but now hearing it from her mouth she realized it was actually a... oh gosh had she just flirted with the boy?

As AJ went through his belongings Lark turned back to her journal and opened it in her lap. Even with the train picking up speed it felt smooth enough to not make her motion sick. Skimming some of the pages she read through old entries her Grandfather had scratched onto each page, small doodles of plants and creatures mixed in. Lark stole glances at AJ every so often trying to come up with some type of topic to bring up. Not that she minded silence but-a grumble interrupted her thoughts as her stomach clenched in on itself. The smell of cheese wafted across the compartment as she looked up to see AJ enjoying a sandwich. Another rumble erupted from her stomach and must have grabbed his attention as he asked about her eating something as well. She hadn't thought to pack anything... and now wished she had. Her Gran wasn't really the maternal type and hardly ever cooked herself, their family typically relying on house elves or other staff to take care of the household. Holding up a hand she tried to play off the rumbles as nothing.

"I eh.. I'm alright. Had a big breakfast." A twinge of guilt struck her at the small lie. She was too embarrassed and besides the trolly would eventually go by so she could use her Gran's money. But, as if he could read right through her, AJ sprung into action and was right back in his bag offering up some other sandwiches. All of it sounded wonderful to her at this point and knowing they had awhile before reaching their stop, Lark decided not to pass up on the offer. Starting to decipher a handful of words she wasn't quite sure on... Lark sat on the edge of her seat and stared at all the options AJ had laid out on the table before her.

"Hmm.. well the chicken an'eh lettuce?" Holding a finger to her chin she wasn't sure on some of the others. "Please!" She added hastily not wanting to seem rude and gave him a large smile. "Really kind of ya ta share with me." She appreciated the gesture and accepted to sandwich.

"Just ah.. what'sa vegun?" She repeated the last word as closely to how he had said it as she could, twisting her thick Irish accent in a way it wasn't quite used to. Waiting for his response she gathered it must be some sort of Muggle term.

"Is yer family..." she paused not wanting to seem too forward but unable to think of a better way to really word the question, not that she saw any shame in it. "Ah Muggle family? Er maybe ah mix?" Her eyes sparkled at the thought of finally having met someone who was from the Muggle world.

He was glad that she had actually accepted his offer, it would've been very awkward to have lain out all these different sandwiches all for her to decline them. She remarked on how it was very kind of him to share with her which he waved away dismissively. "Ull these sundwiches woo' gah mauldy befer I coo' ee' any of em." He chuckled slightly. "Honesleh, yer doin' meh a feevor. Meh mither overworries, musta though' I wus gunnae trek to Hogwurts from Lunden on meh oon two fee'" He was speaking quicker now, wasn't focusing too much on sounding more English which would likely make some of his words difficult to discern. That was, unfortunately, the struggle of talking to someone from so far north. He could only hope the important parts were getting across.

He returned to his sandwich as Lark tucked into her's, he respected her choice, you could never go wrong with some chicken and lettuce. It was after a few moments that she questioned him on a term he had randomly thrown up in the air when introducing her to the sandwiches available. "Oh Veguns? Yeh dunnae wha' a vegun us?" He asked her, confused. To his knowledge they were a pretty well known phenomena, and more often than not they wanted people to know they exist.

"Oh wai' ah kep forgettin'. I'd guss Wutches like yurself proble cal 'em 'Frumpy Wumps' er sumthen like 'at." He joked, remarking on the strange terms used in the Wizarding world that he was still learning about. "Wull ah guss...wull ah suppose yer suppos' teh proonunce eh 'Vegan...'" He put particular effort in pronouncing the term in a very English way this time, which clearly wasn't all too easy for him. "Beesucally the' dunnae eat unnehthing tha' comes from un unima'" He tried his best to explain. "So nay mulk er iggs er cheese." He elaborated, hoping he was explaining sufficiently to his travel buddy.

Lark seemed like she was psyching herself up to ask an awkward question about his family. She seemed incredibly hesitant but curiosity appeared to be winning out, asking the Scotsmen whether he came from a Muggle family or a half-blood household.

AJ blinked a few times as if processing the question. The expression may have come across as offended at first until he slowly uttered "Muggle...?" As if he was trying to retrieve the memory from some secret databank in his brain. "Oh! Oh reeght, nun Wuzzards." His face immediately softened as he remembered the term, and it became obvious his prior expression was just confusion. "Sorreh, like eh seed, stull lurnin' ull tha words." He explained. "Aye, booth meh peerents are nae magicul us far as I know." Suddenly he realised why she might've asked that question. "Oh crivens wus am I suppoos teh be suttin een a dufferen' part uf that treen?" He asked, worried that he was in some kind of pure blood section, not even considering the issue of how incredibly messed up it would be for the train to be organised like that.

Her new companion's accent was getting thicker by the minute as he seemed more comfortable and even a bit excited. It made translating a few words here and there somewhat harder for Lark but she managed to piece together his sentences. Giving another nod of thanks as AJ assured her it was no issue at all in sharing, Lark unwrapped the clear material careful from the sandwich giving it close inspection as she did so. She hadn't the faintest idea what it was but made a mental note to ask AJ about it at some point.

Lark stifled a laugh as she swallowed at AJ saying frumpy wumps. She supposed Wizards did have some outlandish names for things around them. Listening to his explanation Lark lowered her meal from her lips. "They don't eat any of that... well.. what do they eat? Plants?" She scrutinized the lettuce staring up at her tucked in between the chicken and bread in her hands. "Talk about strange." Her silvery brows knitted together trying to wrap her head around this information. People only eating plants? No cheese? Milk? The topic was blowing her mind.

Having asked her question about family Lark waited patiently for his answer, though she did worry at his first reaction that she really may have overstepped. She perked up leaning that he was from a Muggle family.

"Oh crivens wus am I suppoos teh be suttin een a dufferen' part uf that treen?"

"Oh no no!" Lark waved her hands nearly dropping the last of her sandwich on the table between the two. "I'm sorry, that's not what I meant by askin'." Lark knew about the history of Muggle and Wizarding interactions both good and bad yet she still had never come in contact with anyone Muggle or in person experienced any prejudice. A small part of her felt sick at how quickly the boy's reaction had turned even if she couldn't fully understand it, one day she would.

"I just..." Trying to not come off as too extremely eager Lark sat up straight in her seat. "I've never met anyone like you." Her golden eyes practically bore holes into the boy as she stared at him like some fascinating rare creature. "Er well not that I've met a lot ah people but," she took in a long breath and held it. "What's it like.. the whole.. no magic thing? How does your family get on?" A billion questions blazed through her mind, how did they cook? How did they travel? What were the shops like? What exactly was an internet? For now though she kept to small talk, asking AJ about his family and holidays they celebrated as well as where they lived giving time in between each question for a reply offering up plenty of nods and 'I sees' as he spoke trying to absorb every bit of information. Eventually she launched into another bought of questions;

"What did they think, yer parents, when they got the letters from Hogwarts? Did they already know about you bein' different?" It was one thing growing up in a magical family, all of her family just expected her to having her own magical awakening whereas with a Muggle family she couldn't imagine the shock that might come alongside it.

"Ah okee, so am alloowed ta seat here thun?" He confirmed, finishing off the last bite of his delicious sandwich, patting his stomach with some satisfaction and stifling an almost very loud burp. Pardun..." He apologised, moving his hand away from his mouth.

Lark commented on the fact she had never met anyone like AJ, this confused him a bit, in his mind he was pretty ordinary, probably the most ordinary...would that make him extraordinary or just more ordinary? Regardless, he considered the only thing strange about him to be his incredibly long and awkward name. He looked back up at her as her eyes met his and he started to blush at the laser-like focus she now held on his face. "Ach stop steering. Ye'll muck meh go reed." That was an understatement considering she had quite clearly already accomplished this task.

He looked away from her for a few moments, only returning his gaze when she talked about not knowing many people. That would perhaps be a line of questioning for later, he tried to make a mental note to ask about it when they knew each other a little better, at least he hoped they'd get to know each other at least a little better.

It was then that the pretty young girl asked about Muggle life, wondering how any family could possibly subsist without the ever-present crutch of magic. "Ge' on? Weh ge' on ulright I guss. Nay too bad." He replied simply, a little bit confused by the question. "Uh suppoose wee're nay 'alakablamming' objecs aroond tha hoose buh weh manage." He gave a bit of a clearer answer. "Weh jus' soorta rely oon our hunds." He said with a shrug.

Seemingly intrigued by mundane Muggle life she continued her line of questioning, asking about his family. "Wull meh mither's eh school teacher, sheh teaches lunguages. An meh da's eh poolicemun. He stups bud guys." He explained the brief important details of his parents, not wanting to bore the girls. "Ehm...wuh sullebreet Chrusmuss und Hulloween und Easter und ull tha'." He listed off the main things, presuming that the girl would know what those even were.

He was about to flip the question back on her when the door to their compartment slid open and a portly but friendly-looking woman peered in at them. "Anything from the trolley dearies?" She asked the pair. AJ shook his head "No thunks, bayin' ull meh books en stuff wiped meh ou'..." He explained, declining the offer. The woman looked to Lark to hear her answer.

Once the Irish lass had made her decision and the Trolley lady was definitely gone AJ would return to what he was doing prior. "Reeght, soo uh unswered yer queestions naow u'll usk tha seem. Wuss yer hoose leek?" He asked her curiously, eager to hear the answers as their journey went on.

Grinning as she listened to the boy, Lark brushed a couple of crumbs from the table and into her hand. Pulling out a small handkerchief from her bag she brushed them into a small pile before tucking it away bag into a pocket to take care of later. She grinned at the comment of 'alakablamming'. Was that the reaction most Muggles held of casting spells? Lark knew that there could be hefty consequences when not properly pronouncing a spell... she wondered what sort of chaos that word could do instead of a proper incantation.

She gave a nod at the mention of using their hands, or at least what she assumed AJ had said was hands. Her mother worked in their garden outside... mostly hands on. Though some spells did help her around the house with cleaning and much of her father's study of creatures had a balance of physical and spell work. Maybe things between the Muggle world and her own weren't that far from different? Hands was one word she had down but.. Hulloween.. ? Christmas must have been the prior holiday he listed off... Even that she sort of felt herself blush in embarrassment not wanting to admit that wasn't something really celebrated by her family. She wasn't sure how big of a deal it was for Muggles... or even other wizards. Hulloween... possibly something to do with the Hallows Eve? Another holiday she hadn't typically celebrated...

Thankfully though she was spared the impending doom of having to explain her ignorance to holidays when the trolly lady poked her head in. AJ declined the woman's offer of sweets but Lark took the opportunity to not only pay the boy back for his kindness but also introduce him to something else in the Wizarding World. Sweets! And not just any sweets! "If ya don't mind actually I'd like ta get some things please!" She waved a finger at the trolly lady hoping she would give her a moment to dig out the coin her Gran had given her.

Digging out the coins from her bag, Lark stood and peered at the trolly. She was going to ask AJ if he saw anything interesting but she was worried he might politely decline. There seemed to be a handful of things to choose from.. all of which Lark knew were good starters from someone in AJ's position.

"May I have two of each please?" Counting out the coin for the trolly lady, Lark gave her a smile and thanked her as the goods were handed over, filling the small girl's arms up. "Oh er can I get an extra box ah' Bertie Botts, sorry!" Biting at her lower lip she squeezed the last three knuts from her hand, the older lady taking it with a wide grin.

"You two enjoy your ride in!" She hummed and slid the door shut before heading down to the other compartments. Turning back towards her new friend with the hoard of sweets piled in her arms, she carefully set them all down on the table between the two of them, her eyes gleaming. Although he seemed still curious about returning the question of homes, Lark was too caught up in anxiously wanting to share the sweets with him.

"Right well first!" She sorted the pairs of candy side by side with the labels facing AJ. "So!" A large mischievous smile spread across the girl's lips as she leaned closer to the boy as if she were about to impart some sort of secret forbidden knowledge. "Ya 'ave ta 'ave some of these before we reach Hogwarts."

Slowly she reached out and pushed one of each of the packages in front of him and named off each one as she did so. First, a blue polka dotted labeled tin; "Droobles's Best Blowing Gum..." Second, a pink and blue almost confetti, festive looking square package, "Cauldron Cake!" Followed by another fancy looking package marked in orange, "Pumpkin Pasties! Always a good snack!" She gave a self satisfying nod feeling her mouth water at the thought of the treat she pushed towards him. On to the fourth box, a long brown one resembling those that Olivander's gave out but smaller, "Licorice wand!" She paused at the two last boxes set between them.

"Now these two! These are, in my opinion, a Wizarding staple! A must have!" She waved her hand in front of the packages as if she were about to make some sort of great sales pitch. Placing the faceted royal blue and gold box in the palm of her left hand she held it out towards AJ. "Here we have the amazin' an' wonderful Chocolate Frog. A great tastin' chocolate, smooth an' rich! Just as smooth as its moves so be careful when ya open it! There's also a card in each one ta collect." Gently she set it back down on the table and picked up the last box, white with red stripes and a child's face decorating the front. "Now these are for when you're feeling' adventurous! Not just any jelly bean sweet! Truly a choose your own adventure ta set your taste buds on! I can't say more without ruinin' it." Setting the last box of candy down in front of AJ she sat back in her chair and lined up the other half of the loot for herself.

"Ready ta dig in?"

In friendships we are searching for a soulmate, someone who shares every facet of their passions and imagination.
The Lad an' Lass PV Allister J.M. Fin.
Buying supplies had left AJ completely skint but it seemed his new friend was more than willing to repay him for his sandwich-y kindness with sweet treats. The boy was unsure whether it was considered polite to accept or decline in this situation, however that debate was quickly drowned out because he was a young boy being presented with SWEETS.

He tried his best to listen as Lark outlined all of the options to him. Most of them sounded quite bizarre indeed. "Ehm...d-do tha pumpkun pasties teest leek pumpkun?" He asked her. AJ had never been the biggest fan of it as a vegetable and the thought of the flavour tainting his tongue made him shiver uncomfortably. He supposed it couldn't hurt to still try them, but maybe last.

The other options sounded enticing. The pair trying out the blowing gum together, AJ struggling to make anything beyond a small struggling bubble. The Liquorice wand was particularly delicious but AJ's standout favourite had definitely been the Cauldron cake. He would definitely have to find out where to get more of those.

Eventually that just left the Pumpkin Pasties. The Scotsman tentatively popped one in his mouth and bit down. His face almost immediately scrunched up in disgust, his nose crinkling as the flavour hit his tongue. He leant out the window and spat out the 'treat' taking a gulp of water to try and wash out the taste. "Noo meer uf thoos please." He pleaded jokingly.

AJ was certain he would've enjoyed the Chocolate frog if it hadn't escaped both times he tried to have one. The first one escaped out of the slightly ajar door and frankly he's not sure where the other one even went. At least he had some cards now, but he would've liked to have had the chocolate. Maybe next time.

Last but not least came the worryingly vaguely described Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. "Thee cannae rully bee uvery fleevour though." The boy remarked skeptically, gently taking one and biting down into it. He was worried for a moment that he might get something disgusting, however what he got was something...overbearingly minty, but not unpleasant. "Oh...Tuthpeest!" He said with a small chuckle, having finally placed the flavour.

The two spent the rest of the trip conversing and snacking (to mixed results where the beans were involved) and AJ eventually remembered that she hadn't answered his question about her home. When he was about to ask again however the pair noticed that the train was about to come to a stop. Knowing that he wouldn't have enough time to receive a proper answer from her he decided to drop the issue until later.

The pair of them made an effort to clean their mess before grabbing their things and filtering in with the rest of the students exiting the train. There sure were a lot of them.

"Soo whuch hoose are ye ho-?" He turned his head and realised the person behind him was no longer Lark, unless she had suddenly turned herself into a boy. He received a short response about how this person was hoping to get into Slytherin personally.

AJ scanned the crowds, trying to spot the distinctive hair of his friend, but was unable to see her through the masses of students being guided onto robots. "Shull teern up...I hoop." He remarked quietly to himself, as he boarded a robot towards his future.
