It was a quiet night in the cold winter, covered in white snow and a silent pitch. The soft tread footprint melted the snow in harmony, but only light exhaled breath appeared for the eyes. The small footprint broke at the shore of the Great Lake before the figure of a young girl had been revealed, glanced around, double-checking that no one was near.
She gazed with wonder to find her friend somewhere soon because she had planned this meeting since morning. The promise that Skylar and her friend had given to each other kept reminding her through the star map of the lesson and a peaceful ambient of study during the Astronomy class. So, she decided to send a magical paper airplane asking Rose again if the girl was available for stargazing tonight.
As Rose agreed, she should meet her friend after everyone finished dinner and went to the dorm. Yet, the clock continued ticking with no one arriving. It seemed she was there first, or Rose might be stuck somewhere.
She belived in Rose but acknowledged the fact that the girl was sneaking out for the first time might cause her friend some trouble, so she had been worried.
Skylar bit her lip, walking back and forth, waiting for her friend. Even the cool wind was against her face, and her cheek turned red, she was still there, on the side of the shore. There was no thought about giving up this meet in her mind.
She looked at the freezing glass on the surface of the Great Lake to calm her down a bit. After a while, she heard something and looked toward the sound.
“Rose”
She expressed a big smile as she waved her hand, calling out to her friend gently from afar.

Today was the day. Skylar and Rose's stargazing evening. Their promise.
Rose has been excited all day about it for two main reasons. The first one was she was going to be able stargazing with some company and not alone as she used to do thus sharing about her passion with Skylar which would be also a time for her to build stronger ties with her friend. The second reason was that it were going to be the first time Rose would be sneaking out.
To be honest that was both scaring and worrying her but she was finding some sort of a challenge in it. It was thrilling.
The day went by so fast it was already the evening and the two girls agreed to meet when everyone had left the Great Hall and were in dorms to be sure not to be seen. Rose wore her casual clothes and put on her padded jacket before heading out of the Ravenclaw common room and the castle. She had been really careful while walking in the corridors making sure to make no noise and that no one was around. When she reached outside she looked up at the clear sky before starting walking again. The moon light was enough to clear her path. She didn't want to light her wand on as she could be spotted.
However while she was walking towards the Great Lake she didn't feel worried about having sneaked out anymore yet she felt peaceful and happy as a slight smile appeared on her lips. Although it was cold and her cheeks and the tip of her nose were a bit red she had a warmth feeling inside her.
Rose was getting closer as she saw Skylar from afar waving at her and calling her. Rose smiled and waved back at Skylar as she quickened her pace to get to her friend.
"Skylar!" she said as she joined her.
"I'm sorry I made you wait! I hope you're not to cold!" she said a bit worrying.
It was true the sky was clear good to stargaze but winter temperatures were however not the best to be outside stargazing so she hoped Skylar was not freezing.
"I have taken a plaid with me for us to sit on and cover ourselves if we feel too cold." Rose added with a smile as she showed to Skylar her big soft blue and silver plaid she was holding in her hands.

“It’s alright,” Skylar answered as Rose asked her if she was waiting too long. She soft grin at how kind her friend was when the girl offer her a blanket. “Thank you so much.” She scratched her head a little bit. “Silly me. Why did I never think to bring one?”
Skylar quickly led her friend to find a seat somewhere near the tree, so they would be more comfortable and easily share the blanket together.
In front of them, there was a view of the frozen lake with still and heavy water underneath. The surface reflected the crack lines of icy glass by the moonlight above them. The snow unevenly clung to the shorelines. It was a peaceful atmostphere, but she could hear some wings clapping rhythmically in the wind sometime.
Looking at her friend, Skylar felt a little bit guilty inside. She asked her friend to stargaze on a cold day. It must be such an uncomfortable and disappointing to the girl. “I’m sorry… I don’t know that it’s going to be so cold today.”
She cared for Rose as she thought that if her friend was upset or got into any trouble because of her, she probably wouldn’t be able to forgive herself. But her mood changed. After realizing how Rose took care of herself and found a way to her safely.
“So, I guess you came all the way here without any obstacles, then. May I ask how?” She expressed a light chuckle. Knowing it was the first time Rose had sneaked out, the girl must be so thrilled and scared.

Skylar and Rose started to walk towards a spot near a tree to sit down. Rose put the blanket down as she sat on it before pulling the rest of the blanket over them. It felt warm.
Rose looked in front of her at the lake. She remembered when she came here in automn when the leaves were all of an orange, yellow or red hues. Yet the snow white had replaced it making the view just as beautiful. It seemed the snow glistened in the dark night. The frozen lake also created a completely different atmosphere as the moon light was reflecting on it lighting up all around. Rose appreciated the view and the atmosphere the night were offering. Thankfully there was no wind otherwise that would have been way cooler. At this thought as if Skylar had read into Rose's mind she apologised to have proposed to stargaze on such a cold weather.
Rose smiled at her friend's care while shaking her head side to side.
"No it's fine. I did not think too it would be that cold. So don't worry." she reassured Skylar.
Then probably a question that has been on Skylar's mind for awhile now as she asked Rose how she get here without any troubles as she chuckled.
"Well I guess I got lucky." she answered her friend raising an eyebrow as she slightly laughed.
"To be honest I have just been extra careful while walking in the corridors making sure not to make any noises."
"It's true I got out with any troubles but I would need to get in without troubles too." she chuckled.
Honestly Rose just thought she had luck in addition to her being careful as she told Skylar. Strangely enough she was not worried about getting in back. Skylar were probably thinking Rose might have been scared and really worried about sneaking out. It was true she was before but once she got out she felt relieved and peaceful. It was not as bad as she thought it would be yet thrilling.

Skylar let out a small laugh as she listened to what Rose said. “I’m sure you’ll be fine. You already know how to sneak out, so it’s easier now to sneak in, I guess.” She chuckled again before looking up to the night sky.
When the cloud cleared out, the star appeared. The rich sparking light painted in the dark. There was nothing outstanding enough to focus on except the moon shining softly above. The more she looked at the sky from an overall perspective, the more her body felt lighter. It was like she was going to sink into the star surrounding her.
“It’s so beautiful…” She said to Rose as her eyes still gazed up far away. “But I don’t know what to focus on.”
Skylar gave a small laugh to her friend as she realized she didn’t know anything about the star in the star map. It was a bit embarrassing, yet she liked this new feeling she had discovered.
“What do normal people first focus on when they stargaze?”
She started to lean her back against the tree, supported her neck with its trunk so she wouldn’t be tired when she chin up for too long. Peaceful air made her run down to her deep thought, and she went back to her past again. The only time she remembered stargazing was when she was six years old as her parents began to be busy at work and she was so lonely.
“I remember the only time I was stargazing, I was looking for the shooting star to fall. I was waiting for so long, but it never happened for me to see.”

Skylar and Rose were sitting down at a tree their back leaning against the trunk while looking up at the sky. Rose couldn't help but to be amazed at how the starry sky was every time she was stargazing. It was beautiful.
Her mind was resting and she was feeling relieved as if there were no worries anymore. The vastness of the sky made it as if someone was going to drown in it while being so far away. It was something she was appreciating about stargazing feeling so small and far away from it yet so close and enveloped by the stars. She could stay like this for hours and even fell asleep as it had already happened at her home though.
Skylar's voice brought her slightly to reality as she didn't know what to focus on and asked Rose what people usually do before she pursued on sharing her last stargazing experience. Rose smiled when Skylar mentioned a shooting star.
"Well there is not specifically something you have to focus on. It's mostly personal I guess. What you want to look at." she paused.
"You can watch one star alone trying to find which constellation she could belong to or not" she pointed her finger towards a star in the sky that seemed to be alone yet surrounding by others "or you can look at several stars together to figure out what constellation they could form" she pointed to a cluster of stars that were forming a large saucepan "last but not least you can just watch it overall as a huge painting or a vast ocean." Rose said eyes sparkling looking at the sky a smile on her lips.
She was glad to be able to share this moment with Skylar and her passion about Astronomy.
"As for me I do the three of them." Rose finally said chuckling.
"It's really rare to see a shooting star and it's sometimes so fast that you even doubt whether you have truly seen it. But don't worry one day I'm sure you will see one. Don't forget to make a wish." she said smiling at her friend.

“Constellation…” Skylar murmured softly. Roming her eyes around to the ocean of stars, there were three sparkling, lighter than the others. A little head tilted, wondering what it could shape into.
She lifted up her arm from the blue blanket, pointed her finger in the air. She drew a straight line connecting the three star brinking in rythm before she began to remember the picture in the star map.
“It looked like a belt.”
As her mind went to the Astronomy tower, the image wasn’t clear like the reality, yet the star dot could guide her movement somehow. She made more lines connected from the three stars, creating some kind of geometric shapes with an extended arm.
“Now, it looks like… human.”
Skylar expressed a soft grin on the corner of her lip. It was fun to see the overall picture in her mind. She then added a vertical line from the end of the arm, and it looked like a bow.
“That’s it! A man with a bow! Hmm… What is it called?”
She couldn’t remember the name of that constellation. She frowned and realized that she might enjoy talking in her thought too much, and forgot to show it to her friend.
“Sorry… Did you see it?”
She grabbed Rose's warm hand and started to draw the constellation she had found again. It seemed like her hand was cold and shook the girl a bit. Skylar immediately let go and gently apologized to her friend. She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh naturally. “I think my hand is numb to the cold.”

Rose was enjoying looking up at the sky. The night was calm and peaceful. The stars were shining brightly making it easy to discern them. She then saw Skylar raising her arm up pointing her finger on stars she was looking at as she wondered what it was. Rose smiled at this view. She found Skylar adorable. She was like a child who discovers and learns new things.
Rose followed Skylar's finger to see where she was pointing at. Her smile widened when she saw the constellation her friend was wondering about. She remembered it was the first constellation her brother told her about since it was not hard to spot and to remember.
However Skylar was mostly talking to herself so Rose let her trying to figure it out by herself as she was really attempting to remember this constellation. It was a man with a bow and a belt.
Suddenly Skylar asked Rose if she had seen it as she took her hand to draw the constellation she was looking at making sure Rose would see it. But Skylar quickly let Rose's hand apologizing for its coldness. Rose chuckled as she didn't mind since her own hand too was rather cold.
"Orion or The Hunter. The constellation you saw. A man with a bow and a belt. It can easily be mistaken with Sagittarius since both have a bow. Orion is often and easily seen during winter." Rose explained Skylar.
"See stargazing is not hard! You can find constellation!" Rose said proud of her friend and encouraging her to keep trying.
Rose pointed to another star which was brighter than the others.
"This one. What do you see? What do you think it looks like?" she asked her friend taking her hand to show her where she was pointing at.

“Orion!” Skylar chuckled at Rose as she answered the question. She then looked up to the sky again. “That is indeed a great name for a constellation.” She smiled.
She felt heartened by how her friend encouraged her. It was kind of funny and adorable at the same time. “Maybe I got a good teacher.” She couldn’t help but grin with her eye gazed far away.
Looking up from the point of her friend’s finger, she tried to spot the target. Her head followed up from the right of the bow and found that an orange-red star was brighter than the others, as Rose had said to her. “What’s that? What’s it called?”
Two brown eyes frowned as she went to her thought a second time. Maybe it was better to stop figuring out the name, but focus on the shape instead. Skylar extended her arm, starting to draw in the air once more. The cold breath let out slowly while her finger connected the dots diagonally, but thier end seperated. “It looks like the letter ‘V’. But this one had no belt. Where should I go next?” She still murmured to herself.
She peeked at her friend to see if the girl would help, and Rose did hint her with a slight eye movement. Skylar giggled. Then, followed again and found a small group of stars. “Right! a Pleiades!”
She joined a Pleiades to the ‘V’ shape she had made, and continued with one more leg to it. “Now, it looks like the V is attached to the upside-down V. What is it?” She turned to Rose with a genuine curious expression.

Skylar repeated the name of the constellation Rose explained her about. She was happy to share what she could about Astronomy with her friend who seemed to be interested by it.
When Skylar mentioned having a good teacher Rose couldn't help but slightly blush of embarrassment as she wasn't considering herself particularly good with Astronomy. It was just she really liked it and was interested herself in it but she was still learning as well and there were many things she didn't know yet. Eventually she smiled at her friend about her comment.
Then Skylar looked up at the star Rose showed her earlier. The brightest one. Like for the previous one Skylar drew with her finger what she was seeing the stars were forming. Rose smiled again at this view as she could perceive how hard Skylar was trying. It warmed Rose's heart and she was thankful to have a friend to share her passion with despite her not knowing much about it. But Rose was more than glad to help Skylar and teach her what she was already knowing about Astronomy. And of course they could also learn together about it.
Skylar was forming the lines the stars were showing to draw the constellation Rose pointed out. Skylar found out a V to an upside down V. Skylar was not wrong to have drawn like this.
"It's Taurus the Bell." answered Rose proud Skylar had figure it out.
"But look here at the brightest star. It's the brightest one of all." Rose said pointing to an alone bluish-white star.
"Do you know it?" Rose asked.
"I really enjoy looking at it because its brightness brings me reassurance and peace. Like even in the darkest place and time you still can find light. For me this represents hope." Rose said eyes sparkling looking at her favourite star.
"I tell myself as long as it shines this brightly then whatever I believe in still exist and will happen soon or later in a way. It's like a shooting star for me although it doesn't move." added Rose chuckling.
It was true though she had belief in this star. Maybe because of its brightness like a beating heart keeping someone alive. She wished for Skylar to find a star the same way or a constellation. Even both. Also maybe Skylar had the same things with plants too.
"Do you also have something like this with plants?" Rose curiously asked her friend still looking at the bright shining star.
