Bonding + Slug Puking + Uncles
This is a private rp between Hanako Tone and @Percival Rainwood . This thread is followed by the events that happened in this unfortunate thread. Jk it was lovely to write him puking slugs.
After the little pup left, Hanako embraced the silence he left with him.
The only friends that surrounded him were the slugs he puked out. All different shades and sizes just slugging around on his shirt or the floor. He used to mind the company, but at least the slugs made little to no sound.
There, Hanako rested his back on the moldy bathroom walls that he swore were crying in place of his own tears. Slugs had made their way onto his lap and made as far as his shoulder before he swatted them off.
Puking them out for a while now had made him less grossed out about the slime they left. But that didn't mean he wanted slime to get on his face and hair. He had enough slime dripping out of his mouth, he didn't want more.
For now, the only sounds he heard were the subtle gooey movement of slugs, faint chatters and footsteps of students walking by, and the sound of his heartbreaking.
He had known it was doomed from the start the moment he opened his foul mouth to the pup, but helping someone and getting hurt in the end was good for no one's heart.
Questionable, his tactics were. But his goal was as clear as day to him while it might've been cloudy to another's. One thing for sure was that he was absolutely done with helping anyone.
" やれやれ " he muttered out bitterly, as he swatted another slug that made it's way to his chest. やれ/yare : how bothersome
Why must he make his intentions clear and loud with words? It wasn't his fault other people were too stupid to see it. They were too lazy to connect the dots, it wasn't Hanako's fault.
Nothing was his fault. It was them.
He was fairly sure the teachers and companions had noticed his absence by now, but with his carefree reputation, it was no surprise if the teachers just assumed he over-slept.
Again.
And with that, he was able to hide in these toilets away from the eyes of witnesses. Being rather image-conscious, showing everyone himself in this state was not something to look forward to.
But for now, it didn't seem like he gave a rat-ass about who might come in. The sight of slugs everywhere and the fact that he seemed to blend in well with the moldy walls might send anyone running.
He tensed as he felt another slug come out, but he simply let it drop out of his mouth. His body felt cold from the lack of sunlight and in need of a long shower.
God, when will this nightmare end?

Percival's pocket felt heavy as he walked to one of the abandoned bathrooms. Finally, Percival would have a chance to read his letter. He didn't know exactly why he decided to seek out a safe place to read his Uncle's letter. It was probably a habit that made him want to be alone. Growing up, his parents always disliked his Uncle reaching out to him. It had probably been them snatching his letters which had caused him to be more secretive.
Percival had first been given the letter by an owl during breakfast. He had wanted to read the note in private away from others. He had hoped to read it during some of his free time, but he just never got the chance. It had been a full day before he had a chance to actually read the letter, and the boy was now itching to know what his Uncle had written to him.
Before stepping inside the dilapidated bathrooms, his hand found the letter in his pocket. The papery material felt coarse underneath his hands. Percival brought up two fingers and traced the wax seal that held the Lacework family crest. The design never seemed to not amaze him, and he wondered if the Rainwood's had their own family crest. He would have to ask his father about it when he went back home for the holidays.
With one hand, Percival pushed open the bathroom door. The first thing that hit him was the musty smell of mold and standing water. The smell felt very oppressive, and he doubted his decision to even come here. Though the smell was probably enough to keep other students away while he got some alone time. He wondered whether these bathrooms were ever cleaned, but he guessed not since they were abandoned. Percival held the letter close to his chest as if he was afraid he would drop it.
Any thoughts of a quiet day were crushed as he heard someone puke. His nose scrunched up in disgust as he inwardly cringed. Percival glanced towards the source of the sound to see Hanako on the floor. Why is Hanako here? he thought to himself. Annoyed, he brought his arm holding the letter down to his side as he walked over to Hanako. "What are you doing here?" he asked with a small frown. The boy's semblance of calm was cracked when a particularly large slug tried to get on his shoe.
"EW! Why is it so big?!"

Hanako was too exhausted to make new movements at the newest addition to the toilets. Before he could tell them to buzz off, he caught the sight of a familiar blonde roommate of his.
Believing he trusted the boy enough to feel comfortable puking slugs in front of him, he didn't greet Percival as he used too. He was far too uncomfortable to be his usually cheery personality. But when did Hanako ever greeted someone in a more socially acceptable way?
" The 'it' you called so rudely is Henry Williams the 4th, and he prefers being called ' filled' if you would " he retorted, making up the name in hopes of humoring himself in his current situation. He couldn't care less about a random slug, but calling his bathroom companions an ' it ' is just plain rude. He expected better manners from the boy.
He decided he was not humored enough, anyway. Unable to show his endless enthusiasm, he showed Percival a grin. Which, looked like he was just showing off the green slime he had on his teeth in every corner and out.
" Funny story you see, Parsa- oh, one second " he turned the other way to puke out another slug as if it was a simple cough before returned back to stare at Percival with tired eyes.
Eyes that screamed the pain of a defeated man.
" So, this little stupid dog annoyed me in here. You know me, right? I don't take kindly to those who make me angry. One thing led to another and well ~ "
He waved his arms around the room frantically, with a blank face. Emotions were something he decided to kill off at the moment.
He felt nothing and it felt good feeling nothing.
It was clear at this point, Hanako is currently going through a malfunction.
" I hate dogs. I hate lions. I hate cats. " He added nonchalantly without any context behind it. " Everything is something but it jumbles into nothing. So why, do I even need to create something when it jumbles, jungles, jam ..." He trailed off, eyes off into space and clearly, it took his sanity with them.
Hanako just felt the need to speak words. He was confused, sick, and tired. He just needed words. A sign that time was still passing. Passing times meant that this would be over.
These jumbled strings he imagined in his head. Every word passed with every second, as it passed, it poked the jumbles of strings. He imagined them green because he liked green.
Fortunately for Percival, before Hanako could go more in detail about green, he remembered the side character that just appeared a moment ago.
He dropped his arms like gravity had instructed, sat up, and lightly dipped his head to inspected a curiously tempting letter in the hands of his Roommate.
" Anyone who brings in an item in his place, either wants to hide it or use it in secret. Got an unsuspected letter you wanted to read in private? "
The complete sentence that came out shocked Hanako himself. Perhaps, he was not a complete nutcase as his mind suggested to him.

Percival's nose scrunched up as Hanako told him off for calling a slug an 'it'. "Uhuh." he stated with a light tone. He took a look at the newly named slug. Though he still felt as if the slug was still an 'it', and he quietly wondered if Hanako had lost it. Quickly remembering he had an audience he looked back towards his roommate.
It took all of his control to not gag as his roommate threw up another slug. Though he was certain his own pain was clear across his face. Percival frowned as Hanako described a dog who had annoyed him. "Who?" he asked wondering which person had pissed Hanako off. What is he going on about? Lions and jams? he thought as he looked at the poor excuse of a boy. He guessed that the boy was not feeling well and was just rambling. In all, Percival felt bad for him knowing that it must suck to throw up slugs.
Percival bit the inside of his cheek as Hanako realized what he was holding. The letter still felt heavy in his hand, and he wished he had waited to take it out of his pocket. He had hoped that maybe Hanako wouldn't have seen him try to hide the letter. Gritting his teeth, Percival placed the letter carefully into his pocket. Even though he wanted to rush to hide the precious letter, he wanted to make sure he didn't damage it in the slightest.
"That is none of your business."
Percival's words came out a little harsher than he had meant them to, but he could hardly care at the moment. He crossed his arms in front of him as he stared down at Hanako. "Besides shouldn't you be a little more concerned with your own situation?" he asked. Percival squatted down to get a better look at Hanako. His head tilted to the side as he watched the slugs slither about. "How long does the spell last?" he asked trying to change the subject.

With dirtied hands, he carefully scooped up the newest slug that he conjured up from his mouth and showed it to Rainwoof. A blank face that matched his sarcastically used tone.
" Does it really look like I want to talk about it more? " By opening his recently cupped hand, the slug fell with a squishy sound. It seemed like she didn't like the rude way she way dropped, so she slugged towards a different direction. A direction away from Hanako.
He felt no empathy at the moment. For all he knew, slugs couldn't feel pain. Could they? It's not like they have bones or something. He just knew he has more reason to hate them other than wrecking his garden. This is another brilliant example of Hanako's interest in science and anything else but gardening and himself.
" Who, you ask? I don't want to go around spilling names but I hate how easy it was to remember their name. It was so short and simple, yet not something you hear every day. And I'll crush him with my bare hands for what he did "
He gritted his teeth, his tiny puny hands forming into a fist as a quickfire rekindled in his eyes before it was gone once again.
" It may not be my business, Parsal. But do keep in mind that there's currently a slug puking kid in this bathroom and he has no intention to move from this place just for another kid to read a secret letter. "
Hanako took a second to scan the room, finally pointing a certain corner between the broken sinks. " That's the cleanest spot in here. I don't think my slugs touched that place yet. It's the furthest away from me and whatever is in that letter, I can't see from this eye view. "
He failed to mention that it was where Ruka Tan sat, just before Hanako stepped in and they both managed to ruin each other's day.
He coughed out another slug, a bit harsher this time. Probably meant the spell was going to wear off soon. Wiping the slime off his mouth with his already slimed sleeve, he said; " I don't give a rat grass about that letter and its contents, Rainwood. But it's either you read it in a clean but safe spot, away from anyone but me, or, you can leave in peace ".
To some degree, he was concerned with what kind of letter made someone so protective of it. But if there was anything he would respect, it was privacy.

Percival frowned slightly before shrugging. "Fine." he said simply trying to remain stoic. Though it was clear Percival did not appreciate Hanako holding the slug up for him to see. The boy shrugged slightly looking at Hanako. "I guess not." he said even though he still wanted to know who did this.
Percival raised an eyebrow at Hanako's clear want for vengeance. The other boy's contrast between the boy's anger and his current state was laughable.
Though Percival kept his thoughts to himself. "He sounds like a character. Is he in our grade?" he asked tilting his head slightly. The boy did not know many students who could throw about a Slug Puking spell like it was nothing. In truth, Percival was so very curious about who this boy was and why Hanako was keeping his identity a secret. It felt like he was being eaten up on the inside.
Percival bit his lip as the conversation went back to his envelope. It was true Hanako was still puking slugs so he wouldn't be able to leave any time soon. Percival looked to where Hanako pointed before looking back towards him. "I would hope you wouldn't care especially since it isn't your letter." he snapped. With a huff, Percival made his way towards the corner. "Fine just stay over there." he said with a frown.
It did not take long for him to reach into his pocket and pull out his Uncle's letter. The red parchment of the letter contrasted against the golden wax seal. Percival dug into the letter before opening up the parchment. His Uncle's fancy handwriting popped out at him as he began to read.

Percival felt like cotton had filled his mouth and made it dry. He let his arm holding the letter fall to his side as he stood there deep in thought. What do I do now?Dear Percival,
I hope this letter sees you well. I am glad to hear that school is going alright for you. Have you taken your examinations for your classes yet? There is one thing I do want to discuss with you Perc. I know you were planning to come to stay at my home during the summertime. I understand things at home have been fairly tense recently. Though something has just been brought to my attention, and I will no longer be able to house you. I am required to go abroad for a good portion of the summer. Which does put a damper on our plans. Maybe you could come over later in the summer instead? Though how long my trip will last has not yet been set in stone. I wish you good luck on your final exams.
May we keep in touch,
Terrence Lacework

" It doesn't matter what grade he's in. No matter what, I'll crush him. If only I still had some snakes..." He trailed off, his mumbled some sort of incomprehensible plan that involved snakes. It seemed like once again, he is lost in his own world. Percival seemed to have disappeared as he continued muttering incomprehensible plans with a thoughtful look on his face.
He barely nodded as Percival went to the place that was suggested by Hanako earlier. He was too busy hallucinating a brilliant scheme to bring all the snakes of Hogwarts to take a bite or two of Ruka Tan. A sort of crooked smiled appeared on his tired face without him realizing it.
It was only a few moments of silence that he realized the heavy air that suddenly drew his attention away from his thoughts and onto Percival. It seemed like the letter was read, but it didn't look like it left him in good spirits.
As if he needed another person to make the air more dull than it already is. What could've possibly been in that letter to make him into such a state of daze? This was coming from the one that had been puking slugs for a while now.
" Not a nice letter?" His voice was hoarse and dry, but it still managed to retain a slimmer of his usual playfulness. " I mean, I don't want to pry or anything, for once. But if you're having much of a bad day as I am, I heard talking about it helps or whatever".
He turned aside and puked out another slug.

Percival had barely even noticed that the other boy had answered his question. Well it was not necessarily the answer he had been looking for. So the boy let the words go in one ear and out the other.
The boy barely noticed how his eyes slowly began to sting. Whether it was from sadness or from keeping them open for long he didn't really know.
If you asked Percival, he would complain about his allergies. How the horrible dusty and mold-ridden room was the cause for his tear-filled eyes.
Percival jerked slightly as Hanako spoke up. The boy couldn't believe he had forgotten that his dormmate was right there. All he could hope for was that Hanako would keep his teasing at bay for now.
"Um yeah I guess you could say that." he muttered his voice suddenly feeling too dry. Percival slowly slid to the ground not caring anymore if his school clothes got dirty. The boy raised an arm to wipe at the tears that had gathered at the corner of his eyes.
Percival glanced towards the other boy as he spoke. The boy's sweet words were interrupted as the other threw up another slug. A look of simple disgust crawled back on his face as he debated on what to do.
While the thought of sharing his problems with this boy seemed nice. He still did not know much about his dormmate. Percival decided to bring this fact up to his dormmate.
"Why should I tell you? You won't share your own skeletons. Speaking in riddles and such... How is one even supposed to comprehend." he said picking at some moss that grew on one of the walls.

Permission to do some big god-modding has been allowed by @Percival Rainwood
Hanako let out a hoarse laugh at Percival talking about skeletons and closets. What did that even mean? His low wisdom stat wonders. But to fit in the context of their conversation, it sounded like he meant of ‘secrets’ of some sort.
If that were the case, then he wasn’t wrong. Even in this slightly woozy state, Hanako was as clear as a foggy forest after pouring rain. There were a million things he’d rather hide than reveal to anyone.
Like his real feelings? Like his fears of being connected to anyone? Like his secretive family? Even something as easy as hobbies.
Percival was right. Hanako was being quite a hypocrite when he suggested Percival to let it out. Despite his harsh reply, Hanako was not the least offended. In fact, it was quite the opposite. And it showed with his tired smile. “ Sorry “, he mumbled out, possibly not enough loud for the other one to hear but it was better this way. He still had his ego intact.
With his woozy state and connection to slugs at the moment, he began to wonder a world where he has not turned out like this. The dangerous ‘ What-if’s’ that made so many humans mad.
What if - he was more open and less afraid
What if - he could open his heart to let another in
What if - he could talk to Percival about his past.
What if - they could’ve had a nice time
Oh, the oh-so-very dangerously devious ‘ What-if’s’.
No doubt, he would have been happier. But that’s not what happened, is it?
It was just a moment for the brain to play pretend and imagine being in another reality where everything was just brighter. A short dream anyone can live in. Perhaps, that’s what made it so addicting to everyone. There’s just not enough things to be grateful for.
So then Hanako continued to live in this reality, where he failed to make his roommate feel better. Instead, leaving him with his own skeletons to take care of.
The two spend quite a long time in the Abandoned Toilets. Hanako’s slug puking eventually wore off and Percival had a jolly time staying in his own space as his companion tried to puke out slugs as silently as possible.
It was a comfortable silence, Hanako would like to think. At least to him, it was. It might’ve been a different story with the other Slytherin but the current mood didn’t really make it a nice time to ask if Rainwood had a nice time.
Rainwood, being the guy he is, agreed to help Hanako go back to their common rooms without being seen. And surprisingly, they successfully made it.
Percival was quiet on their journey, a sort of quiet that even Hanako would know not to disturb. It was an odd encounter. No doubt, things could’ve went smoother if Hanako had chosen to say something. But it was not a past he was willing to dwell upon.
But soon, it’ll be seen as a fond memory of the two boys for Hanako. Any memory where he was not wearing the happy-go-lucky filter was always will be memorable.
