Jax slipped away from the group of student in the confusion, his anxiety spiking hard once the older dude reprimanded him. A few minutes spent walking around the library resulted in a hiding spot. The table was tucked away behind three different bookshelves, and the candle on it seemed like it hadn't been lit in over fifty years. It was covered in a thick coat of dust and upon closer inspection, rather unstable. One of the legs of the table was shorter then the others, resulting in a pleasant

The table was tucked away in a forgotten corner of the library, covered by three bookshelves and the fortunate placement of a ladder. Jackson had stumbled on it by accident, having ducked behind the nearest shelf to escape the huge group of people which had congregated around Leo's table. His anxiety had spiked hard once an older student came and reprimanded him, so, overwhelmed and looking for an exit, he'd simply walked away. Lucky him.

The three bookshelves had been placed back to back, creating a small triangle of empty space in the middle. It was wide enough for a grown man to stand with his arms spread out and spin, which was why there was a table, a chair, and the forgotten stub of a candle. Thick dust covered the back of the shelves, and the table, making it seem like gray snow had settled over them and never melted. It was a pretty sight for someone who was not allergic to dust in the least bit. Still, it did make walking around without getting his clothes dirty quite the struggle.

While he waited for the group around Leo's table to disperse, the Ravenclaw pulled out his hydroflask and a spare black T-shirt, starting to wipe away at the dust. It took a while to clean all the corners and crevices, get rid of the spider webs and such, but by the time he was done, the place looked good as new. Sure, he could have cast Tergeo or Scourgify, like his germophobe bunk mate did 24/7, but what was the fun in that? Plus, it wasted some time, and really, he was only there because he was waiting for Leo. That done, Jackson stuffed the shirt back in his bag right beside the bottles of spray paint, keeping an eye out for his poor friend's table. From where, he was, he could practically see the entire library without getting noticed. Plus, the backs of the bookshelves were a perfect place to practice his tag, if it ever came to it. It was kind of dark, though...

"Lumos," he whispered, grinning as the tip of his wand lit up. It still stunned him, that he could do magic now. Hell, every time he cast something that worked, it was like when he was holding his wand for the very first time. In short, it was absolutely freaking amazing...

At last, Leo was left alone. Jax waited around twenty more minutes, wanting to give him some time to get at least some work done. Not that school was fun, or anything, but the guy seemed pretty dedicated. In the meantime, he pulled out his sketchbook and flipped to a blank page starting the sketch of his first tag at Hogwarts. It would have to be something cool, but also kind of magical. His moniker was "Xon" and he'd spent a lot of time trying to come up with it. In the end, he'd picked it because it sounded cool, his brother had liked it, and it was 'Nox' spelled backwards.

He only managed to sketch the basic outline of the letters before his eyes wondered back to is friend. Yeah, okay you spent enough time alone, he though, slipping from out his hidding place, and back to Leo's side. "Come on dude. Let's see if we can make it out of here without a whole bunch of people following, eh?"

Having sat down in his seat again, Leo looked up at the surrounding students. He smiled warmly at all of them and watched as, one by one, they left him alone. Alone. He was alone again. Leo couldn't help but look around the empty space around him. He felt that feeling again. The feeling of being somewhat lonely in such a big place. He sighed and pulled his seat in, picking his quill up.

Leo liked to think he kept an open mind when it came to learning. He couldn't help but wonder why Astronomy was turning out to be a bit of a drag for him. He wasn't sure if it was the homework or if it was the subject itself. Nonetheless, Leo was determined to get his questions finished. His new determination was building up rather quickly. Leo felt unstoppable! He picked up his parchment and smoothed over it, getting rid of all the creases. A wide grin on his face, Leo opened his bottle of ink, dipped the tip of his quill in it and began to read the first question.

20 minutes later...

With a thud, Leo's head was back on the table. He was in no mood to finish this work. He hadn't even answered the first question. So much for feeling motivated, he thought to himself, sighing softly. It wasn't long until Leo heard a familiar voice from his side. "Come on dude. Let's see if we can make it out of here without a whole bunch of people following, eh?" Leo turned his head to face the boy beside him. His head was still on the table. "Hey, Jax." Leo said, looking quite defeated. An adventure sounded nice at this point. Leo smiled at Jax and nodded. "Okay! Just let me pack this stuff up."

Leo sat himself up and began shoving his mountain of parchment into his bag. He didn't care if he was scrunching all of his parchment together, he needed an escape. Quickly dumping his quill and closed ink bottle into his bag, he stood up and placed the bag on the chair. He struggled with the zip for a few minutes, trying to shut his bag. After a successful run, Leo smiled and swung his backpack over his shoulder. "Lead the way!"

Jackson grinned at his new friend's enthusiasm, helping him pack up the mountain of books and papers he'd been buried under. "Okay, so here's what I was thinking," he started once they'd found their way out of the library and were walking down the halls. "I want to find a few places through out the school the nobody knows about. Forgotten closets, and stuff like that." He turned so he would be facing Leo, walking backwards and nearly bumping into at least three people before they made it to the end of the hall. "I already found like three, including a fake back to a closet. It's pretty cool, actually. Leads to the the kitchen. I have a feeling that's gonna come in handy at some point...I swear to Lucifer, the castle is so old, and it's full of secrets!" He'd said all that in one breath, but somehow, he seemed undisturbed, and kept right on going.

"Anyway! Tell me about yourself! Leo...hmmm. That's a cool name. Oh shit, sorry, I forgot to ask for pronouns. I use he/him pronouns, how about you?" It took him a while to realize Leo was following him, and he had no idea where exactly he was going. They'd walked out into an unfamiliar hall, with old classroom doors on either side and a rather creepy statue of a witch holding an apple. She looked positively terrifying, her face twisted into a malicious sneer. Save for her, the hallway was empty, even the voices of other students seeming to have died away. "Um. Okay. So. Do you know where we are?"

He tried very hard not to sound scared, but he couldn't keep the panicked note out of his voice. One of his biggest fears was getting lost in this damned place and not finding a way out. It didn't really go well with his urge to explore everything in sight. "How did we get here?" he asked, taking a deep breath. "I wasn't paying attention." If they knew how they got here, they would know how to find their way back. Easy peasy. Right?
