Dinner. Dinner was the best part of any day at Hogwarts, no matter if you are used to pots flying and spawning in right in front of you, or millions of variety of food. You just can't get used to that. But everyone has there favorites. Cold pumpkin juice always hits, and sometimes a hot mug of butter beer too. But the best is obviously chicken casserole for Andy. There are always big plates filled with this amazing goodness. But sometimes, it doesn't taste as good. When you sit alone. There are always days where no one sits next to you, doesnt even bother turning in your direction. It always happens, and who is there to blame? There are thousands of kids in Hogwarts who all have a seperate life story. For some, they where poor. Some wealthy like Andy, and some in the middle. Some are boys, some are girls, some are tall, and some are short. Andy falls more on the shorter side, being only 4 foot 11 at the age of 13. There is always someone more unique than you, especially in a magical school like this. There are races here that Andy has not even heard of in fairy tales back in Perth. When the food was already half way finished, he realized that he might be able to speak with at least some people, being the kinsthetic boy he is. He met two first years back in the common room a couple months ago. Maybe, jsut maybe if Andy finds them, that casserole will finally taste better.

Andy Loggins, Ravenclaw
Two people, two different stories
Rose was heading to the Great Hall although she was not much hungry it was better for her to eat something even light. Lately the atmosphere of the Great Hall was warm and cozy because of the fireplace and all the Christmas ornaments giving a more resting vacations like feeling. Moreover while one was sitting alone it seemed to be less lonely even though that could also be more uncomfortable as people were chatting and laughing much more since the holiday season was coming. Rose hoped to find some of her friends or at least acquaintances she could sit with at the Ravenclaw table.
She reached the Great Hall already well filled with students sat at their house table eating, discussing and laughing despite it was still quite early. She headed towards the Ravenclaw table and sat where there were free places. At first she felt a bit uncomfortable to be in the middle of students talking when she was finding herself alone. Since she sat where others empty seats were next to and in front of her she thought that someone may eventually end up sitting down there. When she was not very hungry like today it was easier to have people to talk to as not eating much doesn't seem weird whereas when sitting alone you can't just sit doing nothing but looking at your plate.
She sighed as she served herself from the dish that was the closest to her not being sure what it was and whether she even liked it. But it was better than having an empty plate.

The Great Hall always took his breath away. Timothy still wasn't used to the magical candles spreading the warm light through the warm, or the fascinating ceiling above. This morning showing light grey clouds being whisked above by the winter breeze.
But today, as Timothy finally dragged himself away from his books to go and get some dinner, he almost dropped the book in his hands. The Christmas decorations were amazing. He stared at the Christmas trees positioned around the rooms, the ribbons everything seemed to be meticulously placed and filled the room with festivity.
He spotted Rose at the Ravenclaw table and made his way to sit with her, waving at Andy as he sat down.
"This is amazing! How long do you think it takes to get this many decorations up? I can't imagine how many arguments there must have been." Timothy smiled ruefully, "My parents argue every time they put the tree up. not seriously, but mum likes everything to match and be coordinated but dad says 'Christmas is supposed to be tacky. More colour and more tinsel!'"
Timothy chuckled remembering the usual playful battle of his mother trying to bin all the tinsel whilst his dad made more spring from the end of his wand.
"Do you know if you will be going home for Christmas yet?"

Finally, after looking through the huge crowd of Ravenclaws, the boy found someone he knew. Matter a fact, he say too. Timothy Daniels and Rose Pearce were sitting together at a table. Andy looked at all of the open seats next to him. Hmm... But there are two open seats right here... The boy though to himself, but finally gained up his final bits of energy to walk 5 yards to the seat where Rose and Timothy where. Lucky, the boy was. Only one seat remained in that section as Andy took the last one. Hey Rose! Hi Tim! Andy said, It felt pretty good to talk to someone after a long, dreadful, day. While we are here, at dinner, it is a pretty good chance to communicate. I don't know about you, but I had it very lonely today. The boy said. He then watched older Ravenclaws taking the big cluster of seats that was just open a couple minutes ago. They where like a swarm of bees when there honey gets stolen. Like for instance are you guys going anywhere during Christmas? Or what are your favorite foods? The boy had such little time, and so many questions he wanted to ask, but if he did have enough time to ask them all, neither he, Tim and Rose will be able to finish there food. It seemed like the Great hall brightened up all of the sudden. Like more candles appeared in the air but that couldn't be true, it is just Andy feeling better. Talking was always Andy's favorite thing to do, whether it was about food or TV shows, or new golf courses being built in Scotland. He could even talk about the stock market without falling asleep. But all of that is muggle stuff. Now Andy is a wizard, and always will be until he graduates from Hogwarts. A new question was added to the "I want to ask this question so badly but I do not want to waste 3 hours of my friends' time" pile. But he had to ask this one: And one last thing. What do you want to be when you grow up? I am thinking on going back to the muggle world, or maybe not... But what about you guys?

Rose was sitting by herself looking at her plate before feeling a presence near her as someone was sitting with her. She looked up only to see Timothy. She smiled at him as he sat down and waved at someone which turned out to be the third year Andy that had spoken to them in the Common Room last time and who were coming to them.
Timothy's comment about the Christmas ornament made Rose chuckled.
"I think the house elves placed them. But they may use magic so it might obviously be faster than if not." she paused before adding on a second thought, "Although yes they might argue on which one to put even if I think mostly one person in the end may decide."
She smiled as he shared to her some memories he had back home from when it's time to decorate the Christmas tree. At her home she remembered doing it with her brother.
"Well your dad is not wrong but neither your mom since it still needs to be harmonious."
"As for me I remember doing it with my brother." she said smiling at the memories and looking around trying to spot him somewhere. By any chance he could be here.
Then Timothy asked her if she were going back home for the holidays. She knew the answer already as she was really impatient for the winter break to arrive.
"Yes!! What about you?" she asked him back.
Not soon after Andy had reached the table and sat with them as he greeted them.
"Hi Andy." Rose answered with a smile.
Then Andy started talking and asking some questions. He seemed really eager to know both of them Rose and Timothy. Rose chuckled as he looked quite excited to be able to finally talk as he mentioned to be having a lonely day.
"Yes I'm going back home for the holiday." Rose answered before asking him back "Are you?"
"As for my favourite food? Mmmh it's a tricky question..." she told thinking hard. "I would say spinach and goat cheese lasagna with salmon time to time! That's really delicious." she enthusiastically answered with a big smile on her face at the thought of this dish. "What about yours?" she asked to the boys.
However Andy's third question made Rose smiling awkwardly as she had no idea what to answer.
"Well to be honest I have no idea. I still have time to think about it I guess, don't I?" she ended up saying.
Nevertheless Andy mentioned about working in the muggle world making Rose wonders.
Does that mean he comes from a muggle family?
"Why is that so, Andy? If I may ask? Don't you want to use magic in your future job or live in the Wizarding world?" she curiously asked him.
Well as they were talking she didn't have to force herself eating anymore as she quickly glanced at her still full plate she hadn't almost touched.

Timothy smiled as Andy approached, the third year seemed sociable enough, and could potentially be helpful if there was some homework that he was struggling with. But as Andy greeted the first years the smile dropped from Timothy's face.
Irrational anger filled Timothy's blood, causing his face to flush a little bit. He breathed and counted to ten as Rose talked about food and future. He calmed down enough to address the third year.
"My name is Timothy. Not Tim. Please use my name." He paused for a moment to ensure the message was clear before he allowed the scowl to fade from his face. After a moment he spoke again answering some of the questions.
"I don't really have a favourite food. I don't really think about it. Maybe chocolate eclairs" Timothy thought for a moment, wanting to give a proper answer. He was looking up and down the table as if for inspiration before giving a shrug.
"In terms of my future plans, I was thinking maybe curse breaking, or any other job that uses Runes, obviously. Maybe some kind of enchantment?" Timothy shrugged again "Still got most of seven years of school before I need to worry about that."

After overhearing Rose talk here came Tim... Or up until now Timothy. In the wide world, almost nobody called people by there actual full names, and calling Timothy "Tim" Seemed to be the wrong choice, aS Andy could sense the Anger in the boy. Why? Tim or Timothy, same thing! Oh, these first years are very weird! Andy thought. He wasn't just suprised from that reaction, he was astonished. It seems like Andy needed to ask one more question: Oh... Jeez The boy whispered so he was barely heard. Sorry about that, Tim-I mean Timothy. Where I was born, we usually had nick names for each other so I am not used to calling people by there full name. That brought down the mood a hunch. Being almost yelled at for calling someone by there nick name! That his hambug! Bah! Hambug! - Ebenezer Scrooge But just a couple words won't ruin a perfectly good meal for Andy. He took another scoop of Chicken Casserole and refilled his glass of pumpkin juice for the 5th time already. Ah! These seats are so hard! Andy took out his wand as he talked and Murmured, Molliare! The boy's seat turned as soft as his bed back at home...
Oh, and Rose, as if your your Questions, I love chicken casserole, and I really want to work a part time job. One half of the year here, in the Magical world, and then another half in the Muggle world, but I did not decide yet.

After Andy called Timothy "Tim" this latter didn't really appreciated it as he preferred to be called by his full name which Rose could understand but he seemed to have been quite annoyed by it. Rose looked at Timothy flashing him a slight smile for him not to feel too angry and let it go. It seemed Andy got he should call him by his full name by now. Andy too seemed a bit surprised and slightly annoyed at Timothy's reaction which he may have not expected to be like this. Yet Timothy answered Andy's questions. Rose was agreeing with Timothy about the fact they still had time to think of what they wanted and could do in the future.
It neither prevented Andy to serve himself again and to keep eating.
"Your really like that chicken casserole don't you?" Rose jokingly asked Andy.
Then suddenly he murmured an incantation that turned his chair softer than it was. Rose was amazed by it and hoped to be able to do the same!
"Timothy have you seen that?" she whispered.
Then Andy answered Rose's question and as expected his favourite food was chicken casserole.
"A part-time job? Is that possible while studying here?" she curiously asked as Andy mentioned his will to get one.

Timothy had spotted the familiar piece of magic too. He leaned in towards Rose.
"It's a cushioning charm. My grandma used it all the time when we went somewhere for food. But she is really old so she says everything feels too hard."
Timothy was more interested by the idea of a part time job whilst at Hogwarts, and he spoke his queries loud enough to be clearly heard.
"Surely we wouldn't have time for a job at the same time as full time school? Maybe during the summer holidays if you don't want to spend time revising and reading the new book lists but then you'll fall behind in September wouldn't you?"
The idea of getting experience was interesting, but even as a first year he couldn't think of how to fit it into his schedule, and as he progressed in his education the homework was bound to take longer and longer, requiring even more time. It was the reason he wasn't interested in trying to join a quidditch team. He just couldn't think of how he would manage that schedule without letting one plate fall.
"I wonder if the school does some kind of work experience where we can leave the school and go to work somewhere for a couple of weeks. It's quite common in muggle secondary schools."
