Pure Guilt Solo Finished

"That's the last one," Maya whispered as she helped a student onto one of the many cots of the Hospital Wing. It was a full house. Everything that had happened in the ballroom was a blur to her. She looked down at her body. Her clothing was torn, burnt and ashy. This was not what she pictured would happen by the end of the night. Then again, no one did. No one thought the night would have been invaded by giants.

That wasn't what really bothered Maya, no. It was not the war zone that took place in the ballroom. It was the fact that during her time to help, she made things worse. Crossing her arms, she looked at some of the students who were either passed out or in extreme pain from the catastrophe. It killed Maya that while she was experienced in such adrenaline from acting in the Israeli army, she really lost focus and committed a friendly-fire. When she tried to attack a giant, she instead attacked a student. She still has no idea how the student was doing and what condition they were in. Quite frankly, she had no idea who the student was. But they were attacked not only by the giants, but by her as well. She had a sick pit in her stomach. The feeling of guilt was eating her alive.

Maya reached for the bridge of her nose with two fingers and massaged it gently. Her head was beginning to throb from the adrenaline rush calming down. She walked over to the window and looked outside. It was the afternoon and the sky looked calm and clear for a winter season. She wished her mind was as clear as the sky outside, but it was jumbled. Maya took a deep breath and head straight for the Hospital Wing exit. Before leaving, she eyed the nurse and gave a small head nod, thanking her for all that she was doing for the kids.

Her heart heavy, she left the students who were hurt, giving them privacy. Maya had a better idea of where she can be to relieve her mind.
