Attracting the Wrong Attention
Flash had properly investigated nearly every corner of the castle and its grounds, at least the parts that weren’t off limits. He waited until he felt he knew the professors and caretaker’s schedules and habits at least somewhat well before he dared to try doing anything he wasn’t technically supposed to. For instance, investigating the Forbidden Forest.Backdated to February 2nd
Permission was granted by @Morfran Griffith to use Vampyr Mosps
He didn’t have a death wish, and didn’t intend to walk deeply into it for no reason at all. He had been warned properly during his introduction to the school that the forest was full of dangerous creatures, and Flash’s lack of information about what they were, or what they could do, only made it a more unattractive option.
Given that though, there were still things he was interested in seeing, such as what it looked like, how far its perimeter stretched, and what it was connected to. Walking along the edge was still technically within the confines of the rules, and while he was at it, he picked a few flowers he saw that weren’t growing anywhere else. He figured they would make a good decoration in his drab, horrible dorm room, stuck with nearly intolerable dorm mates.
Satisfied with the bouquet of unusual plants he managed to pluck, he started back on his trip through the grounds. It was still a bit of a walk to get to the castle, which was why Flash was surprised to see another student running his way. At first he thought he must have been on some kind of urgent errand, but then he started waving his arms and calling out.
Something is wrong...

Attracting the Wrong Attention
The third year was on a stroll to his secret spot, that was not so secret anymore; yet he still found that it was usually empty. He could still go there to relax and let his mind rest, maybe practice or simply lean back and listen to the sounds nature had to offer. It usually was quite nice to just listen, while he did his homework. The wind rustling through the leaves could even put his restless mind to sleep as it seemed and for a few moments Alan could sit still; as if someone had pressed pause for him and he usually just went with it.
But right as he was about to go to the tree, to rest and maybe close his eyes for a while, he could make out a figure walking along the lines of the forbidden forest; Alan narrowed his eyes and tried to figure out what the person was doing there. After straining his eyes for a bit, he figured out that the person was busy picking up something and Alan wondered what it was, thoughts of worry and curiosity filling his head. Was it maybe a upper year, collecting ingredients for a potion? Alan decided, just to be on the safe side of things, to check out what was going on and slowly made his way over, his hands buried in the pockets of his black pants; a red sweater keeping him warm in the early spring weather and his robes to protect him from possible wind and weather.
Once he got a better view and could see what exactly the other kid was doing at the edge of the forest, Alan swiftly quickened his pace as he made his way toward the figure; falling into a light jog as he did so. "H-Heyy!", he tried to call out to whoever it was. The person was picking up what appeared to be flowers, but while that was not usually concerning, it was the kind of flower that the boy picked up. Alan just recently had learned about those, when he flipped through the pages of the Book of Monsters and had seen illustrations of the flower right next to what appeared to be a blood-sucking creature. He had not read much about it, he just lazily skimmed the page for words and sentences that stuck out from the rest, but when he did that, he had learned how the creature could be quite dangerous as a sting of it hurt a lot. They apparently were really attracted to the smell of the flower the kid was picking up from the ground and that was what made the alarm bells in his head ring.
"Drop the flowers!", he called out, waving his arm a little in the hopes that may catch his attention even more and just hoped that boy was in hearing range. But he was not the only person who had noticed the boy with the hand-picked bouquet... soon enough a swarm of vampyre mosps flew out the forest; they must have smelled the array of their favored flowers, but as soon as they saw the boy holding them, their focus of attention must have shifted and they were aiming for the boy instead, buzzing aggressively. "Y-you need to drop the flowers, quick!"

As the boy approached, his yelling wasn’t the only sound that became louder. Behind him, Flash could hear the sound of buzzing, like insects, but the buzz was louder than any beating bug wings he had ever heard before. In quick succession, a few things happened at once. He heard what the boy was saying drop the flowers, he turned around, and saw something akin to a giant wasps barreling towards him furiously.
”W-what?” Flash exclaimed, having no time to consider what the creature could possibly be. What it was, was terrifying,
He owed the boy an immense debt, his timely intervention saved him from his own hubris. He should have known better than to mess with flora he didn't recognize, especially in the magical world he found himself in. Still a bit shaken, but no longer pursued, Flash walked over to him.
”Thank you, you really saved me there. Wh-what are those things?” Flash looked over to the pile of flowers, four giant bugs investigating them intently.

Attracting the Wrong Attention
Even when Alan finally caught up to the other kid, he still kept a safe distance from the animals and luckily the boy had heard him clear and in time; dropping the flowers and getting out of the way of those beasts. They could be awful and a sting by them hurt a lot! A sting by those creatures would require immediate attention or it could get infected and who would ever want that?
Alan shook his head slightly, staring at the boy. "I am just glad nothing happened! This could have been bad!", he explained, pointing at the four bugs, that happily surrounded the bouquet of freshly picked flowers, buzzing loudly, that it could be heard even with the few feet of distant they had. "Th-those are Vampyr Mosps! They love those flowers you were carrying...", he began to explain as he dropped his hand again, focusing back on Flash. The third year was no expert either, but he was glad that he had been able to somewhat help the other student, before something bad could have happened to the kid. But now Alan had to remember his trivia about what he had 'read', when he flipped through the pages of the book and what he might have heard from hear-say. After all as a kid he had been warned from those creatures and not to get close to them. They were lucky they are purple and not read. The red mosps were known to be even more aggressive and most likely would have not left the taller kid alone, even after he had dropped the flowers. "They somehow bite AND sting and whatever they do it just hurts a lot! I don't know everything but a bite or sting from them can take a while to heal fully and they suck your blood like mosquitoes... nasty things", he said shaking his head with a scrunched up nose, before he relaxed his features.
"We can't just let them roam around here... they could hurt someone!", the third year mentioned, eyeing the slightly taller boy. "Should we ask for help? W-wait... we can't, it might get you in trouble to go so close to the forrest-", Alan turned to the castle that looked like it was quite far away from where they were standing. "Do you have another idea maybe?", he asked the blue eyed kid.

Flash listened carefully to what the kid had to say. There were a lot of unknowns, such as who he was and why he knew so much about these ‘mosps’. It could have very well been that they were common knowledge to kids who grew up around magical forests, but Flash had the feeling he was older than he looked. Even though Flash stood taller than him, he figured he must have been at Hogwarts longer.
Hearing the sting/bite described, Flash felt more than thankful that it hadn’t happened to him, but as the boy continued to talk, a creeping sense of unease set in. He was right, they couldn’t let the mosps stick around out in the open where anyone could accidentally come upon them and get hurt. It was more than just irresponsible, it was callous.
Even though he wanted more than anything to remain happily painless, he had no good reason to refuse the call to duty. It was his fault that the mosps were there, and with the addition of his knowledgable ally, he could be wisked away to the hospital wing if anything went wrong. He would have to go in, take the flowers back, and lead the mosps back to where they belonged.
”I’ll put them back. I'll lure them back to the forest with the flowers. If anything looks like it’s going wrong, cover me, won’t you?” Flash didn’t know very many spells, but he hoped that if his hunch was right that this was a second or third year student, that he would have to know something useful. ”Anything else I should know before I go in?”
Flash was a little bit nervous, but he smiled anyway. He wanted the boy to feel like things were going to work out perfectly-- if he convinced him, he might convince himself too.

”I’ll put them back. I'll lure them back to the forest with the flowers. If anything looks like it’s going wrong, cover me, won’t you?”, he heard the other boy say and slowly nodded, not quite sure whether this was the best idea. But the more he thought about it, the more he realized it was the only reasonable idea he himself could think of. Then again it was the other boy's idea and Alan then and there realized that this was quite a well thought-out strategy for something the boy had come up with on the spot. "That could... that could work, yeah- just be careful!", he offered and watched the other boy curiously, "If something goes wrong, I am right here", he added to answer the small request from the other student, to cover him, if anything were to go badly. To proof it, Alan took out his wand from the holster inside the sleeve of his robe and twirled it around between his fingers, before getting a loose grasp on it and nodding to the kid.
Watch out for the red ones... they don't care about the flowers. Wh-when you're close they attack... So make sure to hurry before more show up", he explained, hoping that this was all there was, "I... don't think there is more; that's all I could find out through studying for creature care", he said, slightly apologetically. Alan had no idea how this would all go and he was not sure, whether this idea would work out. But it sounded smart and Alan saw no reason as to why it would not work out. He would need to wait and see, but he was ready to intervene with a spell, if necessary...

Studying for creature care-- Flash was right on both counts, that class wasn’t even available to first years. He didn’t have time to congratulate himself however, as he had something he had to do. Even though he had only just met him, he felt like he could rely on the boy. He at least honestly seemed like he wanted to help, which was what Flash really needed at that point.
Don’t think about it. No fear. Everything will be fine. Flash goaded himself on one more time before running straight into the fray. If he ducked down and scooped the flowers up, he could continue running straight forward without looking back.
As he neared the forest’s edge he realized a bit too late that he had to run into the forest and drop the flowers away from where the students could wander. He could only hope that boy wasn’t the type who liked to tattle. Into the dark forest he went, dropping the flowers on the mulchy forest bed before he had a chance to run into the red mosp he had been warned about.
Next, he had to escape. There was not that much distance back to the grounds, but one of the mosps seemed particularly irked. Perhaps it didn’t like being lead around and wanted revenge, though it was a stretch to assume as much from a stupid animal. More likely, Flash still smelled like the flowers he had been holding. Regardless, it went for him one last time as he tried to run back.
Until it came back, five hundred times worse than before, and lingered. He hadn’t even received the full force of the attack it intended, but the damage was still done. How was he supposed to explain this to a nurse? He couldn’t tell them he went into the Forbidden Forest. Dammit, I’ve been so stupid!
He couldn’t even think straight anymore, he just kept running back to the boy, not even seeing his face as his vision became blotchy and disoriented. Not knowing what else to do, he reached out his hand, trying to find something to stop him from falling over.

He did it, barely. He couldn’t grab everything while keeping his running pace, but it was enough. He could hear that horrible buzzing just behind him. Alan tried to watch out over the other kid as good as he could manage with the trees and branches restricting his view. Alan was about to shout, as soon as the other kid stepped inside the forest; involuntarily taking a step forward. But Alan stopped, deciding that the other would know what he was doing and Alan was quite sure that this has not been the best idea after all, but the best they could manage. Now here he was standing, wand at the ready and lifted to cast a spell in case anything went downhill, gnawing on his lower lip insecurely.
What have they gotten themselves into? But it got only worse, when he heard a yelp from the other boy, that sounded like he was in a great amount of pain and Alan's jaw clenched, deciding he could not only stay aside now and do nothing. The third year took a few steps towards the forest, ready to see whatever has happened, when he saw the blonde boy stumble out of the. Ala reacted in an instant, rushing forward in case he needed some support and soon enough the blue eyes seem to cloud over in pain and the kid's steps got more and more disoriented.
The third year grabbed his arm lightly, careful to avoid the sting that had made the area of effect take an angry red color. Alan decided the smartest way to support this kid, until he was back to senses was to just stand still and take some of the weight by supporting the blonde's elbows with his hands. "H-Hey... hey, are you okay?", he asked, worry has taken over him, as he glanced down at the sting. It did not seem infected or anything, yet he was sure it must be quite painful. "D-do you need to see the nurse?", he wondered, as he glanced back at the boy in case he wanted to answer something. Alan's grip on the boy was light, only supporting him enough to not fall, but if the boy were to straighten up, he could easily get rid off the support by simply changing the position of his arms.

Flash leaned into the support, trying to get his bearings back. The pain pulsed with the beating of his heart, at times completely unbearable. He just tried to collect himself, tried not to panic. At the very least he was with someone who knew the creature that stung him, and if he wasn’t screaming and panicking, he was probably going to survive. It just really, really hurt.
Now that the danger was out of the way, Flash actually felt relieved. He regretted that he wasn’t fast enough to not get stung, but at least the task was done. Pain was temporary, it would eventually subside. His only concern would be making sure to cover up the inflammation and to act normally. It would make it hard to concentrate on classes, but he figured he might be able to ask one of his acquaintances for some kind of balm that would help. One that wouldn’t ask questions.
While his thoughts were clearing and he started to plan, he was brought back to the present, and he began to get used to the swelling sting on his side. It was loud, screaming for attention, but Flash knew he didn’t have to scream with it, he could choose to remain calm. After giving himself the time, he had to address the boy holding him upright, and clear the air.
”No, I’ll be fine. I don’t want to get in trouble.” Flash put it all on the table, since he had seen him breaking the rules in broad daylight, there wasn’t a way to make the truth more advantageous to him. ”But thank you, I would have been hurt worse if you weren’t here. I’m Flash by the way, what’s your name?”
Flash tried to make his voice sound normal, like he wasn't feeling anything, with a moderate amount of success.

@Flash Holmwood
The third year was quite sure now, that the other kid was not alright in this very moment. He seemed to barely be able to support his own weight, leaning into the support Alan was giving him to the best of his own abilities. He had never been stung by a mosp before and he now knew better than ever before, that he never wanted to experience it either. He would know to stay away from them in the future and surely would hope that the other kid was not gonna go near such flowers again. It did seem quite painful and Alan would not wish that for his worst enemy.
The third year stood there, patiently steadying the other kid, until he would decide, that he did not need any more support from the Gryffindor and even then Alan wanted to make sure to accompany the other kid back to the castle safely.
Alan was a little bit surprised, when the other kid mentioned that they would not go to the nurse. But the third year could not argue with the point that they would ask questions, that would most likely land the other student in trouble. "Okay, b-but promise me to let it get checked out, if it gets worse! Or if it is not better in a few days!", he requested, staring at the other kid, hoping he would at least be sane enough to prioritize his health over getting into trouble. Alan was sure by now that the kid must be younger than he himself was or he would have at least known some basic rules about not touching anything close to the forest that you were not familiar with. He did seem like he was smart and like someone who usually listens in class, but maybe Alan was wrong with his impressions on the other kid. Either way, Alan would find out maybe or maybe not, but those questions weren't important enough to ponder about the answers.
Alan slightly shook his head, when the other kid thanked him, silently telling him that there was no need to thank him for such a thing. "Th-that's hardly worth mentioning... I'm Alan, it's a pleasure t-to meet you, Flash", he introduced himself, as the other kid's name easily rolled off his tongue. He smiled slightly, giving the kid a polite nod, as he was unable to offer his hand for a handshake, since his hands were still occupied with keeping the other kid steady. Though, the amount of weight that pushed down on his hands seemed lighter by now, which was quite a relief, as it meant the Flash must be coming back to his senses slowly. "We need to cover up the sting...", the Gryffindor muttered and looked around, but he could find nothing that wouldn't look suspicious. But when he glanced back at the sting wound and his arms, that were supporting Flash, an idea formed in his head.
"What about my school robes?", he proposed, now it was up to Flash to decide, whether he would accept the offer of wearing the Gryffindor's black school robes, with their distinguishable red seam. Alan had not even paid attention to it and for all he knew the other kid could also be a Gryffindor, even though something told him he was not. Especially because he had not ever seen him in the Common Rooms before.
