»»————————- ♔ ————————-««The evening air was cool against Astrea's arms as she wound her jacket closer toward herself and stuck her hands into her pockets, attempting to stave off the goosebumps she knew would appear soon. The slight crumble of paper brushing against skin reminded her exactly why she had ventured to the mostly empty courtyard in the first place, the memory of black ink in the light of the green fireplace and a stack of plans.
Dear heir to the Noir line and her cousin in some way, Virgil had sent her a letter mere days prior asking for a bit of help with a situation. An admittedly dubious situation concerning the nuances of love. Not exactly for him, for a betrothal was still in motion for the other heirs- the mild bitterness Astrea held over Elena Jones barging into the family business and ruining the delicate balance was still present. What an outrage it was, to cut off tradition, especially after how close Astrea, Sauron, and Virgil had become considering the distance.
Coming back on topic, Lord Moon and Lady Rikita were having a nasty quarrel over the decision to arrange another match for their son. Lady Rikita was pushing vehemently to clear the shame and Lord Moon quickly refusing it, claiming that it would only bring more dishonour if the split pair were so quickly given up on. Especially to a commoner. It was decreed that the situation was to be waited out and until then, the relationship status of Sauron would be deemed as a 'complication'. The same would go for Astrea, after a much less messy conversation. Very unconventional.
The argument settled two days before the letter. Yet the Lord and Lady were as impassive as ever when alone and vitriolic when together, an uncomfortable contrast from the apathetically gentle status quo that many a pureblood family used. Sauron was unnerved, but not completely surprised by this point and nor was Astrea, but Virgil could see how the change had affected the Moon household. The single hour of teatime the family shared- not including the other two hours daily Saroun could spend with the Lord and Lady individually- had been depleted to a mere half-hour of passive-aggressive glaring. The fact that the matter had been about Astrea's former betrothed did not help anything and her affianced was constantly in the defensive and abnormally restless whenever Virgil visited. The situation would have to be properly dealt with, whether by force or not.
Astrea had overheard rumours the day before about a strange boy clad in grey wool selling contrabanded valentines gifts on the school grounds laced with amortentia. The courtyard, they said he was at. You will find him, he is hard to miss once you notice.
"Hey, you..." The voice was borderline ominous as it addressed Astrea, the only other in the courtyard at that moment- though she had seen a few others flee the scene only a few minutes before.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. The Neptune-Chou spun around on her heel to face the voice blankly and immediately got hit with the full blast of the setting sun into her face, flashing the silver chain of a necklace she kept around her neck like a lighthouse beacon. Her vision cleared rapidly with dancing black splotches as she directed her vision down, toward a suspicious-looking boy backed up to a pillar.
"Yeah, you." Grey coat, slicked hair, lopsided grin. This was the dealer, alright. "I got one hell of a deal for you if you're willing to buy." He opened his coat up slowly to reveal a sizable stash of candy and cards tucked inside, no doubt all meddled with in some way to achieve- ahem- favourable results. "Selling candy and cards in time for Valentines Day. Something your lady or man love to enjoy as a treat to ensure that their heart is yours for but one day."
A mere one day, only 24 hours. It was a short amount of time, but if the infatuation of the love potion would ring true, Astrea was sure that Lady Rikita would eventually be able to reconcile with Lord Moon within that time with the help of a special little card under the guise of a letter to the Lord. Candy was too suspicious and any pastry would go bad. But a card- a simple piece of cardstock with the gentle waft of all things desirable? Perfect. Ah, this was going to work.- Even if the effect would wear off, at least the unspoken barrier would be broken with the sheer intensity of adoration.
With smooth steps, Astrea crossed the small distance and counted out the price from her coin purse, ten silver sickles shining innocently as they were counted. "A card, if you may." Her mellisonant voice was distinctly highly accented and unamused as if she was asking for the weather or an extra glass instead of a highly dubious card spritzed with a possibly immoral dose of amortentia from a shady year mate.
In the assumption that both coin and product were exchanged, Astrea would take the card and pocket it in her right pocket carefully. "Many thanks," she would say, before continuing on her way. If not for the pleased spark in her eyes as she took her leave, it would seem that nothing had happened between her walking into the courtyard and coming out.

Candyman
There was a questionable Ravenclaw selling candy in the courtyard. Love. Candy. Cheap prices, in fact the same as they were selling for in the shops. For a Ravenclaw, he had the brain of a Hufflepuff. The convenience alone was enough to jack up the price, there were plenty of first years that would have sold their kidney for a sweet treat. Then there was this weirdo that really seemed to care about the candy, apparently it was one per customer or something like that. He was willing to pay an additional sum for the same candy.
Erin had more business sense than Vladimir, or so she thought as she made her purchase. She let him give his lines, in truth she hardly cared what he had to say. The promise of someone's heart was something she could never hope for, at least in a way that mattered to her. A day would be nothing but a tease. Perhaps that was why the weird little man wanted the candy so badly, he yearned for a second day. That would be fucking hell.
"Just give me a Chocoball," Erin requested as she handed over the coin. No need for small chat. No need for anything really. She did not even say thank you or good-bye. She would pocket the small chocolate treat and amble off, walking past the school nurse.

Candyman
There was something real wrong with Galton. It wasn't as if Galton was mean, but he was a bit scary. When he entered the Masquerade Ball, Jürgen was certain that Galton was going to get himself killed when he attacked that second year part-giant. Then when he was taken to St. Mungos for treatment, he was certain that Galton was never going to come back. The periods of seeming lucidity were brief. Nobody would tell him anything, he had no idea why Galton was as mad as he was, only that he was and that he was not going to be let back into Hogwarts until he was 'normal.'
Buying candy from a shady salesperson in the courtyard was not normal.
He did not like it, not one little bit. Galton had this obsession with candy, he always had a sweet tooth but this was something more. There was nobody to talk to about it, not really. What was he supposed to say: Galton is acting weird because he likes candy too much? He would have gotten nowhere. And now here he was looking to itch that scratch, fill that need and perpetuate his dormate's addiction.
The guy, he looked relatively well off. He did not smell bad, had a snazzy coat fitted for this operation. He was not poor, he did not need the money. Even if he did, as Jürgen looked over the prices, they were no different from the prices in the shops. He was not here for a profit. "Why are you doing this?" Well, selling this was probably a better question but he was looking for a broader understanding. "You could have sold these for premium prices even if they did nothing but taste good," convenience was a selling point. Never underestimate the power of laziness.
The sales pitch suggested affection but Galton did not even like girls, or boys for that matter. Jürgen liked girls, very very much. But even he knew he could do better than dose them. Who, what or why would Galton even want this. Jürgen looked over the options, there was not many. With a sigh he would pick something cheap. "A sticky caramel please," Jürgen would finally resign himself to a purchase. It was only a few sickles, but it was worth a lot more than that if it gave Jürgen what he wanted from Galton and that was answers.

Candyman
Elliot’s blood was in a boil as he threw on his winter cloak and departed his classroom. His goal was simple, seek and destroy. A group of concerned children had come to him with information about a student selling laced candies in the Courtyard. They said he claimed it was a simple love potion for the sake of Valentines Day, but after hearing what effects these candies were having, Elliot knew it was something more sinister.
It would have been bad enough if it was in fact just a love potion. Passing something like that out to the student body would be harmful. Stripping away someone’s free will was terrible act in the old man’s eyes. He knew too well how traumatizing something like that could be.
His long legs carried him quickly towards his destination. The black boots that covered his feet slammed against stone as he waved off any that may try to disrupt him. With arms outstretched, he would push open the door that lead out to the courtyard. A blast of cold air would meet him as he shielded his eyes from the waning sun. They searched for one thing and one thing only...a boy in a trench coat.
If said boy was still somewhere in the vicinity, Elliot would approach with a raised hand pointing in his direction. “You! You there! Come here, now!”
If he was too late, or somehow the boy his before Elliot could detect him, he would simply swear under his breath and turn to leave.

Candyman
There were a few last second customers. A pretty girl that tried to look a bit less pretty with a wild color for her hair, hardly his taste but it had to be right for someone. Some girls are just so pretty that they could get away with just about anything. Another some sinister looking girl, she looked like something out of an Asian horror movie cleaned up a bit, but it still gave him chills. The third, he looked like an idiot. The type of generic dolt that buys this sort of thing for whatever reason.
The transactions completed, he exchanged the candy for a bit of coin and saw them off. It was a routine at this point and the candy was nearly expired. This would likely be the end of his sales for awhile.
Then an older man would burst into the Courtyard, Professor Elliot Price. Professor Price was the Professor of Potions, well known the the student body as well as to Vladimir. He had been teaching the basics of cauldron care, flame maintenance and measuring since this start of this school year. A replacement for the previous Professor Anton Nagal the previous Potions Master. He wondered if his man would last more than the year, considering his age... probably not. The castle was probably younger than this Professor.
Vladimir would look over at the familiar, irate face of the Potions Professor and give him a cheeky grin. "Hey Prof, great to see you on an evening like this."
By the tone in Professor Price's voice, he was not there for any idle chit chat. Not that the Ravenclaw seemed particularly fussed as the wizard made his single demand. "Sure thing boss," Vladimir announced as he buttoned the collar of his trench and approached the Professor. No attempt to flee. No attempt to talk his way out of anything or even feign ignorance. He would comply with the Professor and follow him to a destination of Elliot's choice.
