The wind blew, and the sun dipped down the horizon. It was a very windy day, with the leaves blowing to and fro and the coldness spreading like dye. Anabiyah walked away from the grounds. Today was not the day for a walk. She took refuge in the library, sinking down upon the comfy armchair. Her hair spread around her, and her eyes closed in relief. The fire crackled in the fireplace, and the library carried a scent of books and parchment.
It seemed like heaven, the library did. Her heart ached for a novel and some peace, so she got up and began searching the shelves for the perfect novel for the day. She ruffled through books, and finally found the perfect storytale book to dip into her fantasy and escape from the wretched reality of her life.
She read on and on, her head filling with the amazing figures of dragons and princesses and the far, far worlds that seemed to be out of her reach. After hours of just sitting and reading, her eyes started to droop. The book slipped from her hands a little, and her eyes closed. She fell asleep there and then.
Suddenly, footsteps that came closer and closer woke her up. She looked up and saw a fellow first-year Slytherin girl.
"Hi" said Anabiyah, her voice polite and friendly.

Rosalyn was sitting in her chair in the library, feeling quite accomplished. See, she was happy with herself because she had just finished her homework, and was eager to sit down in the library with a good book. She had brought it from home, because it was her favorite. It was funny to her, reading it again with the knowledge that magic is real, and that she was part of it.

She turned the page, continuing on. Time flew by, and before she knew it, she had reached the end. That was a book that she had reread many, many times, but she did not feel like starting it all over again after literally just finishing it.

She debated on going back to her dorm, but she wasn't really in the mood. She saw a girl, sitting near her, who had probably come in sometime while Rosalyn was reading the climax of the story.

She decided to get up and go over to the girl, ask her what she was reading. Rosalyn could always use more friends, and anyone that spends their time in the library is just the type of person that she will get along with quite well.

She puts the book into her bag, leaving the bag on the table, and goes over to the girl, tapping lightly on her shoulder.

"Hi." the girl said, sounding pretty kind. Well, that's a great start!

"Hi! My name is Rosalyn, but I usually go by Rosie. I just saw you reading and wanted to introduce myself! What book is that?" she asked, curious to know about what the girl was reading. She looked like a Ravenclaw, just giving off that sort of vibe, so Rosalyn hoped that it wasn't a textbook or something boring. This girl though, she seemed different than your average know-it-all, and Rosalyn hoped that her gut feeling was right.

"Oh hi Rosie! Umm I hope you are okay with me calling you that." Said Anabiyah, sitting up straight. Her hair flowed behind her and she blinked her eyes a few times.
The girl had come to her. Anabiyah was surprised. Rarely few ever came to her themselves, and mostly it was just about homework or to talk about the upcoming classes.

The girl had flaxen, golden blond hair, green-brown eyes and her hair was pulled down. She was wearing a sweater, which was a muted sage-green color and she was also wearing leggings.

"Why don't you sit down?" said Anabiyah, prompting the girl to sit on the chair beside her. "And yeah, the book I'm reading is a fantasy one, where two girls get trapped in a world where dragons are normal and fairies rule the kingdom, which is known as the Sapphire Halts. We can talk about if you want."

Anabiyah paused. She was worried she might slip and being excited that someone was talking to her, would blabber away in the most longest yaps known to mankind. She hoped the girl would not mind her, and they would both become good friends.
Could this be a start of something new?

"Oh, I love fantasy! It's so much fun to read about different worlds. You know, I used to think that all of it, including the magic was fake. Guess that's not true, huh?" Rosalyn said, sitting down beside the girl.

She could tell that she seemed a bit nervous, and so did Rosalyn.

"What's your name, I don't think I caught that? And is fantasy your favorite genre?" Rosalyn asked, curious to know more about her. But if this girl said that her favorite genre was something like textbooks or encyclopedias, Rosalyn would have no clue how to engage in book talk with that.

Rosalyn's favorite genre was, and had always been, fantasy. She liked dystopian books too, and wanted to try romantasy, but her parents had always told her no. She could understand why, but still.

She started fidgeting with her bookmark while she was waiting for the girl to reply. She had made the bookmark, a crocheted daisy attached to a small line of chain stitches as the part actually holding the spot. She loved crafting, especially crocheting, and she found it so cool that she was able to make truly useful things through a craft that she enjoyed. Her dad had always made fun of her for it, calling her an old lady, but she thought that it was much better to have an old soul than to be immature. And besides, who was laughing when she made a cute turtle for herself?

She drew herself out of that train of thought, continuing with the fidgeting, and wondering what the girl's name could be. Maybe it would be something generic, or maybe something cool and unique! Rosalyn didn't know, but she hoped for the latter.

"Oh, yeah my name is Anabiyah, and yeah my favourite genre is mystery, fantasy and horror." She said. She could feel her words slipping away, ebbing on the edge, about to tip off. This was the first time she had a real conversation in Hogwarts, and she was already stammering and being nervous.

The last time she had a conversation like this was months ago. She felt strange, probably because nobody had cared to ask about her , her anything. She had felt as if she was almost invisible.

She mustered up all the strength she had inside, determined to not let this conversation go the wrong way.

"Yeah, so um I'm a Ravenclaw, but I'm not that type to stay up late reading textbooks or something." She said, laughing a little.

"What's your hobby?" She asked, a bit of curiosity getting at her. She was curious, that's why she was probably sorted into Ravenclaw. She was raised this way, or simply to phrase it that she was born to be curious. Her curiosity would sometimes get her in trouble, or sometimes lead her to places unknown to mankind.

She broke out of her overlapping thoughts and looked at the girl, stars shining in Anabiyah's eyes and a grin on her face.

She looked at the girl hopefully.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Anabiyah! That's such a cool name, but I don't think I've ever heard it before? What is like, it's origin, where the name is from, if you know what I mean?" she asked.

Look at that, asking a question without apologizing! Rosalyn had been working very hard on getting to the point where her anxiety would calm on down and she would stop panicking over something being considered offensive any time she asked a question, and it seemed as if her hard work and deep breaths were paying off!

"And Ravenclaw, a pretty cool house! Of course, I'm a bit prejudiced in favor of my own, Slytherin, but I have to say, Ravenclaw is probably my second favorite." she says, and it was true. They're clever, wise, and not all of them are total nerds. Though, there is nothing wrong with nerds, they are sometimes some of the most fun people to talk about, because you can leave a conversation with so much more knowledge than when you first entered.

She was glad, though, that Anabiyah was not the type to only read textbooks. Their so hard to get through, let alone talk about!

'Focus!' Rosalyn thought, getting herself grounded back in the conversation her and her hopefully future bestie were having.

"My hobby? Hmm, I have so many! I love to read, obviously, that's why I'm in the library! I also love to write both stories and poetry. Baking is also a lot of fun, and ends up giving you something delicious! I also absolutely love crafting, like crochet or cross-stitch, just good ways to relax." she said, thinking through the full list of all of her interests and hobbies.

"Though, if I had to pick my favorite, it would probably be reading. Just getting to hear of entire new worlds, whether real or not, is amazing." she said.

"What about you, what's your hobby?" she asked, curious to know what this girl, Anabiyah, enjoyed doing for fun.
