Saskia gave an appreciative smile to the girl. "Thanks. Now let's go save your Quidditch Captain," she said, surprisingly lightheartedly for someone who was still in great pain. There was nothing better than relieving the tense atmosphere with a carefree statement, after all. After Thora's approval, the Hufflepuff made an attempt to pull the Slytherin's arm close to hers in order to support herself. It might have been pretty awkward for the both of them, but they didn't have much choice left. It was the best they could do for now, at least until the pain stopped.

"I hope this is okay, she mumbled, following Thora's direction to where the exit was. It was hard to process what was going on around her, with the head pain she had. It was easy to hear Thora's voice when it was so near her, but everything else was incomprehensible noise. Someone would have had to shout really loudly at her to get her attention- otherwise, it was difficult for her to notice them. She sincerely hoped there was no one else who wanted her attention, however. The two girls had something to do, and they needed to do it quick. Besides, it would have been hard for someone who was nearly concussed to do anything else at the moment. Her best bet would have been to focus on what needed to be done.

Thora couldn't believe that the Hufflepuff was still on her feet and smiling--well, smiling painfully--after what'd just happened. "Yeah, this is fine. Tell me if you need anything else," the girl assured as she scooted closer, allowing Saskia to latch onto her arm for support. It was awkward, but at least Thora was able to help. It hurt to watch the other girl get bitten and then have her head smashed on the ground, and the simple fact that she had done nothing was enough to send another crushing wave of guilt through her.

But at the same time, being short was worse than ever. Saskia had a good five inches or so on her, and while Thora was strong enough to maintain an upright position for the both of them, they were making quite slow progress. But at least they were getting somewhere. Dan seemed to be struggling up ahead with the masked man--at least, that's how it appeared to Thora. Remnants of the green sparks charm still plagued her vision, sending spots through it every so often. Besides, her Quidditch Captain was so far down the corridor that she couldn't tell exactly what was happening.

However much the scene behind her piqued her interest--how people were hopefully safe for the time being--there was a job to do. Thora forced herself to not look back as she continued, in the shadows, towards Dan. While time wasn't on their same, they couldn't afford to be spotted. It would be quite difficult for her and Saskia to escape, and that… that wouldn't end so well.

For some, the night was over. They could go back to their dormitories and sleep their worries away, or perhaps stay up and at least have someone to talk to, somewhere to go, somewhere where they could be safe. But for Thora, the night was far from over. In fact, it had just begun.

Andrew's ball attire (minus the mask)

"Dan!" Andrew's voice echoed in the hallway as he bolted through, skidding over to where @Dan Palmer was. "You alright?" Realizing where the both of them were situated, right in front of the Girls' Lavatory, Andrew didn't care if anyone saw them, considering that he and Dan could've had much worser fates than being shrieked at by a bunch of immature girls.

His concern was fixated on Dan. More specifically—"How's your feet? Nothing wrong with 'em?" He rattled off, maintaining all seriousness as he switched into doctor examination mode. "Pain? Bruises? No bones broken?" With the amount of broken glass and other debris scattered around the Ballroom, it would be a miracle if Dan's toes weren't cut or at least scuffed, even when gliding across the cobblestone hallway.

Then the anger would surface… The kind of anger that stems from hurt, whenever someone you care about puts themselves in dangerous situations, intentionally or not….

"What were you thinking?!" Andrew exclaimed in reprimand. He wasn't sure whether to feel awe or terror at Dan's heroism with the half-giant. How close Dan had brushed up with death, numerous times… No different than the fear that gripped him for Dan's safety during Quidditch games. "You could've got yourself killed!" It was pointless to be upset at Dan, now that the fight was over, but he couldn't help it, as the reality of what could've happened to himself, Dan – everyone – suddenly caved in on him. The fire, the half-giants… They could've all died in that room, if that fire hadn't been put out.. If the door hadn't been broken down…

Emotions he didn't know threatened to seep out as tears. Letting out a few shaky breaths, Andrew had to squeeze his misty eyes shut for the welling panic inside him to go away.

"Good thing that professor was there," he'd finally muster with relief, once his emotions were calmed down. After everything that had happened, Andrew was surprised his feet could still stand him upright without shaking. "Doubt you'd still be alive, if he didn't help you. But uh… Why the exit?" He'd raise a curious eyebrow at Dan.

Dan Palmer wrote: 26 Jan 2020, 06:26 Andy came running up to Dan all of a sudden, worry evident on his face. He cared so deeply for him, and Dan did him too.
WHY DID ALL THE GOOD ONES HAFTA BE STRAIGHT?!
He asked if Dan was okay, and he replied "Yeah, I think so."

Then he asked about Dan's feet. This prompted him to examine his soles, and found they were a bit scuffed, but there was no blood.
"A little bit messy, but nuthin' a pedicure won't fix."
Then he asked if there was any pain. And before he could answer, Andy asked if there were bruises. And before he could answer, Andy asked if there were any broken bones. So, he worked backwards.

"No broken bones, I dunno...can your head get a bruise? I think I might get a lump later. And the only pain I have is in my head when some stupid bint threw a shoe at me. See, this is why those things are bad."

Then Andy went off on him, expressing serious angry concern about what he did. He let Andy get it out, then spoke himself.

"They were tryin'a hurt my schoolmates. And they ruined my first date. I was upset, so I took one down. As fer the exit, that damn American headmaster shot me outta the ballroom. He murdered the giant, and is prolly tryin'a pin it on me. I know FOR A FACT that I'm not strong 'nuff to kill a giant muggle-style.
But.... Thanks fer comin' after me."

Fourth Floor hallway, outside the Ballroom

"What?" Andrew was startled by Dan's accusation. Murdered? But.. murder was evil.. wasn't it? As far as Andrew knew, teachers - Headmasters - were supposed to be these trusted adults. They were supposed to look after students, to protect them. And thus far, Andrew hadn't had any reason to suspect or fathom otherwise. But he couldn't discredit the word of his best friend either. Perhaps Dan was mistaken.. Honestly mistaken. Either way, Andrew didn't want to jump to conclusions.

"He didn't… Really?" Andrew reeled through his flashbacks of the Ballroom with shock. "Wait a minute, those half-giants, they… They're not dead?… Are they?" It was horrifying for him to think about. Aside from the few casket funerals he had attended, Andrew had never been this close up to fresh dead bodies before. How two lives could be snuffed out so quickly, so sudden… And disturbing it was, for him to think that someone was responsible for the half-giants' demise. How could this be happening?

Eventually, the whirling fog of emotions inside his head would clear up, and Andrew would get right down to business, gleaning information and making sure he had Dan's whole side of the story.

"So you're saying that Headmaster Plott killed those half-giants and is trying to blame you for it," he recapped seriously, keeping his voice low with underlying caution. After all, what authority did a couple of second years have to go up against a powerful Headmaster? "If you're positive he killed them, then we should probably tell Professor Jensen about it, explain to her everything," he suggested urgently. Confiding in their Head of House seemed like the next logical step, and the sooner the better. "Maybe she can help."

It would seem as though Andy was not entirely aware that the giants were dead. Dan felt a bit bad that he had to be the one to break the illusion, despite there being very slim odds that Andy would get to keep it anyway.

"Had to have. Yer REALLY unlikely to die from being stabbed in the eye. And with my puny little strength, there's no way in shag I could've killed him. I didnt push it in far enough to do that either. I bashed it in just enough to blind the little spanner, not kill him. I also remember seein' a green light come from Headmaster Whats-his-cock out the corner o' my eye. I knowhe did something. I just don't know what."

Everything had gone wrong. His first date, a lovely night with Ozzy, gone completely tits up because of a pair of giants, and some little blighter named Galton. And a scheming evil headmaster on top of it. An American, evil scheming headmaster on top of that. So Dan wouldn't be able to keep tabs on him. Not that he could do so reliably if he was English, or even Irish, but he definitely couldn't since he was American.

Thora was dreaming. No, she wished she was dreaming. The ballroom behind her was in ruins, its tables overturned, windows broken, and dance floor singed black. There were two unnaturally large unmoving things in the center of everything and blood everywhere. And that wasn't even to mention the students limping as fast as they could away from the cursed place, away from the trauma. They'd all been pretty much left alone to the battle, as nearly all of the professors had long left the room. Thora thought it was pretty safe to say that everyone had barely survived the Masquerade Ball.

The corridors, which seemed longer and emptier than they ever had, was the last place the small girl would've expected to be at any point of the night. All of the student's should've been packed into the hospital wing, for Merlin's sake. First practically locked in with fire and decidedly inhuman things, the students'--well, Thora's first thought--was one of survival. Then came the stabbing, and the possessed boy, and put simply, everything somehow got worse. As for heroes of the night, there were many, without whom they no doubt would've all been kidnapped or killed. Despite her tendency for modesty, the Slytherin would say that she played a slightly heroic role. But now wasn't the place to reflect. There was no time to reflect.

Anyone who knew Thora well enough to see her true character would know that she was a coward. Practical, loyal, and smart, yes, but the type who would never even consider running headlong into danger. Ironically, she was doing just that. Despite everything she had to keep track of, she didn't miss Dan--her Quidditch Captain--being practically dragged out of the room by some masked adult (she should've known that masks and therefore hidden identities would be a problem). Something was going on, and Thora, despite her instincts urging her to just escape from the chaos, had followed.

She couldn't stop now. Trying to keep her arm steady enough for Saskia to use to support herself, Thora quickened her pace just a little bit. "Still okay?" she asked. They couldn't exactly risk taking another tumble. As the two girls neared the doorway to the lavatory, she was relieved to be met by a scene of Dan and another boy talking in a decently normal manner, rather than a fight between man and boy.

But it was the boys' words that caught her attention. Something about Headmaster Plott killing half-giants. Confusion whirling around the ruins of her brain like a tornado, Thora nearly jerked to a stop. Wasn't Plott the Ilvermorny headmaster? The visitor? "Dan!" she finally called out, desperate for answers. "That was Plott?" Though in her mind, Thora was referring to the masked person who had taken Dan out of the ballroom, she didn't even realise that she couldn't exactly be understood, or that she sounded terribly ignorant.

Yes, she'd heard what Dan and the other boy had been talking about, and she knew they were talking about the huge things--half-giants, apparently--but her brain was slow. Thora'd seen too much in the span of hours, done too much, and her mind couldn't catch up with reality yet. And besides, Saskia needed the hospital wing. Thora needed to keep her promises. Hopefully, this would go fast. She just needed answers.

An exclamation from across the corridor jerked his attention. Andrew turned his head to see two girls approaching, one of them supporting the other whose face looked dazed and injured with a cut up lip. With Dan being involved in Quidditch and Andrew having attended every Slytherin match so far, he had come to learn the names and memorize the faces of every player on the field. One of the girls was Slytherin's own Thora Larkston. The other was the Hufflepuff captain, Saskia Nicholson.

"Uh, hi," Andrew said in surprise, wary at first. With a glance over at Saskia, he'd look at Thora concernedly. "She okay?" He wasn't sure whether the girls were supposed to be listening into his and Dan's conversation, but seeing that the girls had already overheard plenty, might as well tell all. Four heads (well, three more like it, if Saskia could even think clearly) being better than two, if needed.

Thora seemed to be looking at Dan for answers. Recalling something earlier that had struck him as odd, Andrew would find a pause in the conversation to butt in and say:

"The portraits," Andrew spoke up. "Me and my friend Heather, when the Ballroom was on fire, we got out and told the portraits what was going on, tried to get them to tell the House-elves and maybe Apparate everyone out of the Ballroom, but some of them told us that the elves were gone." He hesitated a moment. "I…don't know what that means," he said uncertainly. "If the House-elves are okay or…?" He didn't want to raise a concern if it turned out to be nothing.

He'd shortly retrace his way back to the Ballroom, seeing that that room was being vacated and quickly quarantined off.

"Looks like everything's being sectioned off," he reported. "We should probably get going."

All the more urgent for them not to dally here, considering Saskia in her condition.

"C'mon, let's get her to the Hospital Wing." He'd help escort Saskia in the direction of the Hospital Wing. The group of them could talk plenty along the way there.

The pain was starting to dull. What used to be a sharp pain in the head was just a massive headache. It was annoying, and she could still feel a ringing in her ears, but at least it didn't feel like a drill directly jammed into her skull. If anything, it was like someone was constantly applying pressure to her head. That was really the only positive thing Saskia could think of at this moment. Even then, it probably didn't mean she was getting better. Maybe she was just getting used to the pain. Like how she had to endure a bludger hit in a Quidditch game. And like a bludger injury, this headache probably wasn't going to go away on its own too. It would have been nice if it did, though.

But it was her stubbornness that led her in the corridors, trying to find Dan, along with Thora. A rational person would have headed straight to the Hospital Wing. In fact, that was probably one of the first few things she thought about after she took a plummet on the concrete floor. But there was also Dan. He may have been a part of a murder scene for whatever reason, but who knew what would have happened to him while he was being dragged out of the ballroom? Amidst the havoc that were the giants, the fire, and the crazy kid, what else would be out there? And so, despite the pain, she found herself wanting to help out. Whatever this new threat was, they weren't going to get away with it.

Thora's voice was what jolted her back to life. The aching still made it hard to think straight, but she had to try to say something to reassure her. Something that would let her know that carrying her around like an heavy sack of bricks wasn't for nothing. "Yeah. I'm fine." To someone else, she was definitely not fine. But she was still standing, was she? She may have needed the support of someone else to keep standing, but that was enough, wasn't it? She could still think. She could still talk, however limited she could talk. She could still breathe. That was all she needed right now.

Then they came at a stop. To be precise, somewhere near the girl's lavatory. Weird. Why were they stopping there? But then she understood once she looked over to where Dan was. He was lying down, near the entrance of the lavatory, along with another boy who she couldn't recognize. She was positive it was someone she didn't know, although there might have been a possibility she saw him somewhere before. Not that she could afford to think at the moment.

Voices. There were voices. All in scatters. Dan and the boy were talking about something. She couldn't piece them all together. That damn ringing made it hard for her to concentrate. But she could hear some key words. Headmaster Plott. The American Headmaster of Ilvermorny. Then half-giants. Killing. She wished she could kick herself for not being able to think straight. Or at least kick the migraine away. It sounded important, and she wanted to help. That was why she was here in the first place. But she had to face the truth. She really was a burden. She couldn't help. She could only bring people down. She brought Thora down and she was about to bring Dan and the other boy down. But it was too late for her to turn back. She had to deal with the situation at hand. At least Thora could have been more useful than she was right now.

Then the boy looked over at her, then at Thora. Probably asking if she was okay. He knew Saskia wasn't lucid enough to answer herself. "I-" She tried to answer for herself, but she stopped. She couldn't say she was fine. Not when it was so obvious that she wasn't. The look of concern on the boy's face was enough for her to know that whatever this was, they weren't going to ignore it. False reassurances wouldn't cut it for anyone. "I'll be fine." She would be fine, right? This pain will come to pass. Somehow.

She grimaced and it wasn't just from the pain. The boy assisted Thora in guiding her somewhere. Probably the Hospital Wing. She felt even weaker than before. They had one more thing to worry about when they should have been worried about Dan. About what Plott might have been planning. Or even if it was Plott who was behind it. She couldn't even tell what to believe anymore. But now they had to worry about her. They had to focus on her and made sure she was alright. Just one stupid girl who made a mistake. A girl who was foolish enough to think that she could help.

"Thanks," was all she could mumble and she stared towards the ground.

But there was one more thing that she was wondering. She only heard about Headmaster Plott. If what they were saying about Plott was true, then that would mean he was the tall masked figure at the ball. Maybe it was her state of delirium. Maybe she didn't make sense. But if she was right... "Where's Professor Lear? Shouldn't he have... Been there too?"

"Honestas ante honores."
