Don't cry, I'm here

On September 5, in the morning around 10 a.m., the weather was fine outside. I do this Rp with @Rosalyn Willows

This morning I woke up quite early. I didn't want to get up because I'd had a bad day yesterday and had sent a letter to Mum that same evening, but I know she's been very busy this week. She'd warned me that she wouldn't be able to reply right away. It was the weekend, and since we don't have to wear the Hogwarts uniform on weekends, I put on my own clothes. I wore blue jeans and a pink sweatshirt, my two favorite colors. I tied my hair back in a high ponytail. I went to have breakfast in the Great Hall, then went back to the dormitories, since there's hardly anyone there during the day. After a few minutes, I decided I had to go somewhere else because I was bored. To cheer myself up, I put my wand and a book I'd brought from home in my satchel and went downstairs quietly to avoid being spotted by anyone. I left the common room and headed towards the rehearsal room, determined to play some piano. On the way, I ran into the person who had hurt me yesterday. I managed to hide just in time; she didn't see me and continued on her way. Tears welled up in my eyes. When I arrived at the rehearsal room, I wanted to play the piano, but my hands were shaking too much. I sat down at the piano and started to cry. I wanted to go home.

Don't cry, I'm here
"Do do, bah do ba, do ba." I said, sing-humming as I was walking around the school. I was lost, yet again, and I didn't even know where I was trying to go. I had been walking around for a little while, just meandering, hoping that I would find somewhere cool to explore. Thank goodness that I wasn't missing class, since it was the weekend, because that would not have been good. I needed as much help with this whole magic thing as I could get!

I kept walking around, and eventually found a door. I didn't know why, but it felt like I should open it, and I usually listen to my gut feelings, so I did. I opened up the door, and heard someone...is that crying?

I saw a girl, sitting on the piano stool thing, who looked like she was having a pretty rough day, to say the least. She was crying, and it looked like she just needed some help.

"Hi there! My name is Rosalyn, but I usually go by Rosie. Mind if I sit with you?" I asked, but I wasn't about to wait for an answer. I was never the best at being patient. If she asked me to go away, I would, but I wanted to at least try to be with her. I sat down next to her, trying not to crowd, but just to be there if she needed anyone. I remembered my first day, and how I stood outside of my common room for a long time, waiting for someone to come and help me get in. I was too tired to cry, but I felt pretty scared, so I get it.

"It's fine if you don't want to talk, do you mind if I write? Just nod if you do mind." I said, pulling out my notebook. I was working on a couple of poems, and I figured that if she didn't want to talk, I could write, but it'd be easy to put down if she did.

Tears streamed down my cheeks. Ever since I'd been at Hogwarts, I'd missed my family, and my older brothers weren't there to cheer me up. I missed their rings. They always managed to make me smile, no matter the situation. I missed my forest too; I couldn't go for walks like I did every day, and I couldn't help my parents anymore either. It's true that being a witch is quite fun, but I miss my old life. Isn't it possible to be a witch and still be at home?
Then I heard footsteps approaching. I wiped my tears with my sleeve, but despite myself, they kept flowing. It was a young girl. She asked if she could sit next to me. Before I could even hear my answer, she sat down. She told me that if I didn't want to talk, she could write. To me, that question was absurd. A bird doesn't ask the sky if it can fly. This young girl shouldn't have to ask me if she could write or even sit down. I nodded; I wasn't even sure she'd seen my nod. She took out her notebook and began to write.
Without meaning to, I read over her shoulder. I don't know if it showed on my face, but I was stunned. I thought I was the only one who liked writing poems. So I put my shyness aside and asked her in a soft but trembling voice:

"Do you like writing poems too?"

Perhaps she would find the question absurd, but so be it.

I looked up at the girl next to me, a bit surprised she actually said anything. I had expected her to not want to talk, because of how upset she seemed to be. But, nevertheless, I was happy that she wanted to. I was no stranger to feeling sad at this place. I'd been homesick before, anxious, failed a test, I'd had so many things happen at Hogwarts and just wanted her to know that someone was there if she felt like talking about whatever was wrong.

I heard her ask a question, if I like to write poems.

Well, I hope I do, considering that's what I'm sitting here doing! But, of course, I answer her.

"Yes, I do. It's a great way to channel emotions into making something beautiful." I reply, hoping that she feels the same way. Based on how she asked if I like writing them 'too', I can assume that she does.

"What's your favorite type to write? I like free verse, because it's easier, and I can get more emotion into it, but I do love to experiment with rhyme schemes and rhythm." I ask, curious to know what type of writer she is, and also hoping to help get her mind off of whatever is making her sad.

The young girl admitted she also loved poems and found they helped channel emotions. I agreed; I often wrote poems when I wasn't feeling well, when I needed to write down what was bothering me. I smiled at her; it felt good to know I wasn't the only one who loved and wrote poems.
The girl then asked me what my writing style was. I thought for a moment. I really liked stanzas with rhymes at the end of each line; I find them so harmonious. Unlike her, I was better able to express what I felt.
But to each their own style. So I answered her in a small voice:

"I prefer... to write in rhyme to... have harmony... at the end of each line. Oh... I'm sorry, I... didn't introduce myself... My name is... Lili-Blue..."

I didn't really know what else to say... Even though I loved poems, I still couldn't speak. Then an idea came to me: if I don't want to or can't speak, I can still read.

"Excuse me... may I read your... poems? Well... if it doesn't... bother you..."

I didn't want to make her uncomfortable by asking her to read these poems, I just wanted to be interested in her work.

Sorry for the very long answer @Rosalyn Willows

"Of course you can read them!" Rosalyn said, surprising even herself with that answer. She usually didn't let people read anything that she wrote, let alone her poetry, but she supposed that if the girl, Lili-Blue, was also a writer, she at least wouldn't judge it.

"Here it is..." she said, a bit nervous, fiddling with her hair as she pulled out one that she had finished a few weeks previously and prepared to read it.

"My wings have always been there.
Always been beautiful and whole
It’s something I have found
Something I have finally realized
After years of feeling stuck to the ground.

My wings have always been there.
What I need has always been present
Waiting for me to find
That they are ready to take me
Where my only limit is my mind.

My wings have always been there.
They can’t ever be taken
They will never go away.
They are just waiting for me to use them
To fly off into the day.

My wings have always been there
Even when I didn’t see
What could carry me up,
Higher than ever before,
Fill my bottomless, endless cup.

My wings have always been there
Even when others tried to rip them
Even when I didn’t feel their power
Even when I thought they had left me
Even in my darkest hour.

My wings have always been there
They look delicate and pretty
Like they are just for show
But they are strong, like me,
And now I will let everybody know.

My wings have always been there.
Before, I saw them as dead weight.
I thought they were keeping me down
But my wings have always been there
And I’m flying high right now.
"

"So...yeah. Not the best, I know, but I wrote it pretty late at night, just because of a thought that I had." she said, explaining it away. She was never the most sure of herself, though she might seem like it to most people, and for some reason, she was opening up to this girl she had just met. Perhaps there was just something in the air.

"Do you have any that I could read? If not, or if you don't want to share them, that's fine!" she said. She didn't want to pressure Lili-Blue into letting her read any if she didn't want to, but it would be cool to see what she wrote.

The girl agreed to let me read her poem. She handed me the sheet of paper, and I read it. The further I read, the more tears welled up in my eyes. Strangely, the poem reminded me of my own story, but not completely. When I handed it back to her, she asked if it was good. She didn't think it was great because she had written it late at night. I looked at her, my eyes misting from crying, and simply nodded. Then I ran out of the music room, tears streaming down my cheeks. Even though I was embarrassed to leave like that, I had to. I didn't want to cry in front of her, and even less so because of her poem. I was afraid she'd think it was her fault. At least this encounter did me good, and so did her poem. I don't know if I'll see this girl again soon, but in any case, she's really talented at writing poems, and I thank her for showing me one. I ran through the corridors to my dormitory and then I went up, nothing to do, the tears wouldn't stop, I was really looking forward to seeing my family again, I missed them so much.

Here is my last message!

Don't cry, I'm here
"Oh...bye?" Rosalyn said, worried about the girl. She didn't know why she'd run out, but she did look rather close to crying. Perhaps that was why?

Rosie hoped that it wasn't because of her, or her poetry, but she supposed she'd never know. Perhaps she'd pass this girl, this Lili-Blue, in the halls someday, but for the moment, she didn't know what had caused her to run.

Hopefully she would be okay, and whatever had made her upset would get better. Rosie got up and walked out of the room, onto the next bit of her day. She had a bit of homework to do, and wanted to repaint her nails. The sage-green she had on, matching her sweater, was beginning to chip, and she had a bit of extra time that day.

Rosie kept wandering, trying to get to her dorm, thinking about Lili-Blue, and wondering if they would ever meet again. Maybe someday, but for now, Rosie told herself that she was fine, probably hungry or stressed or something, and had left to take care of herself, as she should.

Rosalyn reached her dorm, setting down her things, and picking up her notebook to write again, hoping that she was okay.
