Brionna nearly jumped out of her skin when a boy, who she presumed to be a first year, sat down next to her. Thinking he was simply going to sit and ignore her, she almost turned away, but then he greeted her. Nothing special or strange, a simple, "Hey," but it was enough to confuse her. Was he talking to her? She glanced at the boys face, and saw him looking directly at her, rather boldly, a confident grin adorning his features. Brionna's only response was a small wave of her hand.

"I’m guessing you also have no idea what you’re doing?" The question threw the female through a loop. Did she really look that lost? She just thought she was fidgety, but she must have been making faces again. It was something her mother often commented on, and made lying difficult for the newly Ravenclaw, not that she often attempted the action. Brionna studied the boy, trying to learn more about him based on appearance, simply to know his intent of talking to her.

"A bit, I guess." Her voice came out in a soft tone, almost a whisper.

Still watching the boy's actions carefully, his hand reaching into his pocket and seemingly messing with an object did not go unnoticed by the girl. She took note of his blue eyes, and the way his black hair swept across his forehead. He looked nice enough, although Brionna was hard in trusting others, especially cause the male had yet to show a purpose or intent in starting the conversation.

I wanna bet,” the still unknown male reached for a bread roll, “that you’d rather be reading right now, right?” Brionna shrugged, not denying the claim or confirming it, even though it was 100% true. “What kind of books do you like? I’m guessing something smart people read. So, like, uhhh, I dunno. Lords of the Rings? iRobot?" Brionna raised an eyebrow, finding the assumptions rather amusing, "Help me out here….Also, yeah, I’m going out of order. Hi, the name’s Jax, nice to meet ya.” Jax, finally confirmed with a name, finished.

"Nice to meet you Jax, I like a lot of science fiction honestly, but if you give me a book, I think I'd read just about anything if I was bored enough." Brionna smiled slightly with a half shrug. She read a lot of fantasy too, and random fact articles from online as well. Leading to a lot of useless information residing in her brain.

"Oh-" Forgetting to introduce herself do to her trailing thoughts on books, Brionna's face and ears took a light pink hue at her embarrassment. "M-my name is-uh- Brionna Wolf, um- yeah." Brionna nearly hit her head on the table from how much she messed up that simple sentence. Seriously, she thought to herself. Brionna noticed him shift his gaze to another area every once and a while, and noticed it to be in the direction of the Slytherin table. She wondered the meaning behind his actions, but simply shrugged it off for the time being.

"I'm trying."

Jackson’s eyes widened half a fraction, a small grin lighting up his features. “Wolf?” he demanded, running a hand through his hair and messing it up. “That’s such a dope name…Is your family full of werewolves or something? Those exist, right? Werewolves? My brother used to talk about them all the time, but he also tricked me into running into a wall at one point, so I don’t know anymore….”
A few minutes spent sitting on the bench like a normal person, with his back straight and elbows off the table confirmed his suspicions. It was uncomfortable as heaven. The small boy propped one of his knees against the table, and set the other one under himself. It was a rather odd position, but it did take the tension out of his back, and that was all that mattered. “Ohh…science fiction? So like Star Wars, right? Umm….then my best guess is Ender’s Game? Ready Player One? Dune? I dunno, man. My sister’s always talking my ears off about books. Who knew it would actually come in handy to know all this at some point?”
At the remark regarding her being able to read any book, Jackson let out a small laugh. “Wow! Would you help me out then? I don’t read. Legit, I just…don’t. Something about my eyes and my brain being messed up. I don’t remember what it was called. Something with a ‘d’. Desixa? Delexa? I dunno…And the sorting hat put me here for whatever reason. So…yeah, it’s pretty much guaranteed I’ll fail. I think I stood in front of the door to our dorm for like…an hour today. Some smart person came along and let me in, thank Satan.” Jax had said it all in one breath, and somehow he still wasn’t wheezing. Heaven, he kept going. “I’ll like, find a way out of gym for you in return….do they even do gym in this place?? Uh. This castle sucks, man. You help me with smart stuff, I’ll help you with like, not smart stuff. How does that sound?” All was said on a nonchalant tone, but the truth was, his heart had balled up in a tight little knot, and he was waiting for her refusal, his entire being tense. Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes, he silently chanted, hands shaking in his pocket so hard that he dropped the fidget cube.
It rolled out and landed on the floor with a small ping, one of the buttons breaking off. “Ups,” he laughed, picking it up. “See, this is why nobody ever lets me hold anything…” He scooped the cube back up, and tried putting the button back on, his long fingers managing to fix it within seconds. Jax was good with his hands and not his brain, or so everybody was telling him. And after years of hearing that, he’d grown to believe it. “Okay, so? Do we have a deal?” Once again, he aimed for upbeat and cheerful, but one look in his eyes could tell anyone what they needed to know. That he was absolutely terrified of being alone in this huge school.

Brionna let out a snicker when Jackson asked if her family had werewolf's. She made she to note that he questioned something magical, meaning he may have grew up in a more muggle oriented household like herself. "No- I'm a half blood, but I was raised in a mostly muggle home. Though Werewolf's do exist, or so I've heard." The mental image of her little brother's being werewolf's, led to round of suppressed giggles from the girl. "I-if my little brothers were werewolves, I'd be dead by now."

The girl was still trying to control this as Jax re-positioned himself, looking much more comfortable afterwards. After he settled, he looked back up at the female Ravenclaw and asked about books once more. "I like Ender's Game and Ready Player One, although Maze Runner, the Lunar Chronicles, the darkest minds, and the 5th Wave are some of my favorite. I read a lot of fantasy adventure as well, now that I think about it..." Brionna trailed, her thoughts leaving her as she tried to make a mental list of her favorite books and their genres. Brionna noted the mention of his sister, trying to make sure she remembered everything.

Jax let out a small laugh after he heard her comment on reading anything. "Wow! Some smart person came along and let me in, thank Satan.” the male said in one breath. Brionna was honestly impressed at his lung capacity, it was impressive that he got it all out so smoothly.

"It's dyslexia, and my brother and mom have it too," Brionna gave him a small smile before continuing, "And things like that don't define if you fail or not, that's up to your own drive and determination." Brionna felt a little more confident and comfortable with the boy after that, he kinda reminded her of home. Home, with helping her brother's do homework, mom asking her to double check anything she wrote, her energetic family always going on and on.

"I’ll like, find a way out of gym for you in return….do they even do gym in this place?? Uh. This castle sucks, man. You help me with smart stuff, I’ll help you with like, not smart stuff. How does that sound?” Jax seemed nonchalant at the suggestion, but Brionna got the impression it was more important to him than he let on. Before the first year could answer, Jax dropped the little object from his pocket, reveling a fidgit cube, with a now broken button. "Ups" Jax said while laughing, Brionna staring with excitement. He muttered something, but the brunette didn't hear it.

"You have a fidgit cube? That's so cool! I asked my mom for one, but she told me I didn't need one, but I had a friend at school and he let me use his all the time. They help in overwhelming situations. There is actually statistics showing that they help improve kids attention in classrooms, and help people focus better. Though there is a lot of controversy over it..." Brionna ranted on pulling up a bunch of useless information she read about the item from the back of her head. She cut herself off as Jax fixed his cube button rather quickly.

"Okay, so? Do we have a deal?” he asked looking Brionna in the eye once more. Brionna looked at him, really looked. She noticed the stiff posture, as if waiting for rejection. She noticed the curve around his eyes, and the way they darted across her face, as if he needed her to say yes. He seemed so confident since the moment he sat down, but at this moment, he looked scared. Brionna knew how he felt, she had only talked to a handful of people, and the only one she could confirm as a friend so far was a Willow.

Looking him straight on, Brionna smiled, a full, genuine smile. "Of course, I would love to help anytime you need it! All I ask is that we can go running or play football (American soccer) sometimes."

"I'm trying."

“Haha! If my brothers were wolves, all the neighbors would be dead. And the people that attacked our dad. But he can handle himself, so it’s all good. Oooops, too much information, sorry.” Jackson took a deep breath, plucking the thoughts out of his head and putting them in a sentence, like Anthony had taught him to. “Okay. So. What’s a muggle? I keep hearing the term tossed around, but nobody actually bothered to explain…” Heaven, nobody had bothered to explain anything. They kinda assumed everyone knew what they were doing, or that they were listening the first time, which, incidentally, Jackson hadn’t bothered to do.

“Wow,” Jax replied. “Those are good books. Not that I can tell you anything about them, but you read them, which means they must be good. Oh, I’m not hitting on you, by the way. People keep thinking I’m hitting on them when I say stuff like that, for some reason. I’m just stating facts…which makes one wonder, will I be really good at flirting if I ever feel like it, or will I be really bad? My family seems torn on the subject, so I’m asking for a second opinion.”

“Awww... you sound like my mom…just kidding,” Jax smirked. “I don’t have one. You do sound like a teacher tho…is that what you wanna do? Do you wanna teach? I have a feeling you’d be a good teacher. I dunno why. It’s just kinda…a feeling?” Jax looked away for a second, embarrassed. His cheeks had turned a rosy pink, as he tried to think his thoughts in order. It was hard. She seemed so put together and confident that he was feeling kinda bad about himself. But then again, she was smart, and he was not, so there was that.

“Oh my god, are you kidding,” Jax demanded, laughing. He handed the cube over to her, setting his elbow on the table and propping his head up with the palm of his hand so he could watch her play with it. “I have like, a million of them. My dad kept buying them for me because I have like, adhd, or sumthin. I dunno. I can’t focus or some bull, and that thing sorta keeps me focused, I guess??? I dunno.” The young boy got a goofy grin on his face as she went on ranting. He didn’t know all the words she was using, cuz they were kinda big, but he loved the way her face lit up when she was talking about that stuff. She was totally nerding out, and good Hell, it was cute. “Wow, the old bastard hat picked well for you, didn’t he? You’ll fit right in…”

Jax let out a breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding, his entire body relaxing. “Oh good. Yeah, that’s good. That’s awesome. Um. Oh dang, you like football? W o w. Okay, so, in all honesty, I thought you’d be more of a sit in the library with some tea and read. BUT THAT’S DOPE. I can’t wait to play with you, oh my Satan! This is going to be so cool!!!”

The conversation wasn't so bad.

Usually, by this point, Brionna has started to panic and tries to get away from the conversation as soon as possible. Jax's calm and humorous aura helped keep her mostly calm. He talked about his siblings, and sharing to much information. The brunette made a note of this to mull over later when she cold think straight. He asked what a muggle was, and she responded, "A muggle is basically any human that is not magical as far as I know." She picked up the word over the years, as the rare times her family did visit, they joked about the muggle world often, and commented on our own muggle objects that were foreign to them.

Brionna couldn't help but beam proudly when Jax said they were good books. But then he continued- saying he didn't really know them, but that she liked them, meaning they were good. The female tilted her head, trying to wrap her thoughts around that declaration, still smiling, but more softly now. The boy's next lines sent the Ravenclaw girl through a loop.

He dark haired male started going on about how he wasn't hitting on her, a thought that never crossed her mind, and that he wondered about his flirting abilities. Brionna grew up with her two brothers, and of the little friends she did have before, they were predominantly male. She was quite oblivious to those kinds of thoughts, but the mere mention sends her into an awkward spurt of stutters and usually somehow she trips. Thankfully they were sitting.

"I-I uh- yes my second is opinion? W-wait, that's wrong. I m-meant, My second opinion i-is yes." Face and ears a light pink as she prayed they move on.

Lucky, Jax commented on her sounding like a mom. Then joked about his lack of, and asked if she wanted to be a teacher. Brionna wondered, but neglecting asking for further details family wise. She didn't want to pry. Brionna wondered for a moment, did she want to be a teacher? She hadn't given it much thought. She wanted to do something to help people. It didn't sound so bad. She was so wrapped in her thoughts she didn't notice Jax had turned his rosy face away until he had finished talking. "Oh- uh, I guess I wouldn't mind that. I really want to help people, and I could help the next generations if I was a teacher. Thanks for the suggestion!" Brionna smiled at the boy once more.

After Brionna's exclamation about the fidget cube, Jackson laughed. He handed her the cube, moving his elbow tot eh table and had to hand to rest there. He watched as she continuously turned it around, trying to remember all the sides. Including her favorite, the joystick and indented side. She ran her fingers over the different buttons and turning gears. She felt like a kid reunited with their long lost toy from childhood. Jax mentioned he had many for ADHD, something her mother and brother's had as well actually. Jax's face held a goofy grin as he said the hat picked well for her.

Brionna's face and ears flushed once more, as she thought about her rant and the hat's choice. "I actually come from a long, long, loooong, line of Gryffindors on my magic side, so I don't know how my family will react... I don't find I'm particularly smart though, for Ravenclaw anyways. I remember useless information that makes for good fun facts, but I can't remember easy things well. If you ask me for directions, we would end up lost with my lack of direction, but I can recite to you different wand woods and their properties. I can't tell my left and right unless I kick my right leg, because football taught me I'm right legged, but I can tell you how germs spread through the air, and where boogers come from. I'm a mess honestly..." Brionna looked at the cube she had been turning continuously through her words.

The girl let her worries slip as Jax sighed in what seemed to be relief at her agreeing to help him out. He commented on her not seemingly the sport type. When he mentioned tea, she wrinkled her nose slightly as a joke. "I'm not much one for anything not water honestly, milk is even stretching it a bit, but I do love the library- it just gets crowded sometimes. If you can't ever find me, I'm most likely sitting somewhere in a strange position reading. I like to sit in trees and nooks and crannies. Anywhere not really in the open honestly." He went on with being excited to play, and Brionna returned the enthusiasm, "I'm excited as well! It's hard to find people that are willing to play. I'm more of a defensive player, how about you?" Brionna smiled awaiting his reply.

"I'm trying."

As the Sorting Hat shouts out Breana's Hogwarts House, "RAVENCLAW!" Breana almost expected it, thanks to the quick descriptions her mom gave of the houses. Still, she couldn't help but wonder if she would've been a Slytherin instead, which was her mother's house when she came to Hogwarts. Her mother made the house so inviting and filled with determination, she thought they could help her during her school life. Nevertheless, she smiled as her eyes glanced over at the Ravenclaw table, a couple of fellow students already chatting about. "I wonder what they're talking about... Have they known Hogwarts for a long time, or are there people like me? Wonder if any of them read any books I read back at home..." As her thoughts started trailing and swirling around her, she heard a loud cough. "Oh! Right. The table." She nodded and mumbled a little apology before trotting over to the Ravenclaw Table.

Breana looked around for a good seat. Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw a fidget cube. It was like finding Waldo instantly. She didn't expect to find it suddenly, but she's glad she did. Watching the boy pick up the cube, Breana figured that he would be either a wizard that's fascinated by things from the non-magical world, or just someone in a similar situation as her. Either way, it could be a good talking point. She noticed the wizard boy is also chatting up with a girl, and just handed her the fidget cube. She was relieved to see her actually fidget with it, which meant that they do know how to use it. "Perfect!" She thought as she walked up next to them. She then quietly sat next to the girl. For a moment, she was confident... until she remembered the quick little panic she feels before actually conversing with someone new. Should she interrupt? Should she wait until they notice her? They sound like they've known each other for a long time, maybe they're just really good friends. "No, don't second guess yourself! They're probably talking about something you'd be interested in! You're in the same house after all!" She mentally prepared herself, now overhearing a bit of what they're talking about.

"Oh dang, you like football? ... I can’t wait to play with you, oh my Satan!"

"I'm excited as well! It's hard to find people that are willing to play. I'm more of a defensive player, how about you?"

"Welp... maybe not something I'm interested after all." She thought. With that, Breana accepted defeat and just grabbed a plate of some steak. All of that overthinking made her hungry.

Jackson smiled, relief making him light headed. Okay, so maybe he wan't screwed after all. Thank Satan. He started to eat, slipping small pieces of the bread in his mouth. He was a slow eater, and took at least 15 minutes to finish that one small bun, after which he didn't pick up anything else. "Okay, so," he started once more. "I'mma head to the dorms now, because I've still got some unpacking to do. Wanna meet up tomorrow?"

As he got up, he kind of tripped over his robes and fell, his head hitting the ground with an audible crack. It wasn't particularly graceful, but he played it cool, looking up at his new friend rather dazed. "Just performing a gravity check," he grinned, noting with amusement he'd started to bleed. Blood wasn't something unusual for him, as he and his siblings rough housed quite a lot. He sat up, putting pressure on the wound, grinning as the entire room did a loopty loop. "Whow, that will take ya for a ride," he breathed. "Maybe this is a sign. A sign that these robes are stupid."

Before anyone could look at him weird for sitting on the floor like a drunk, he climbed to his feet, laughing a bit as the ground tilted beneath his feet. "Damn, okay, this is fun," he chuckled, grabbing on to the table for balance. "I bet ya'll fifty cents that I just got a concussion." All jokes aside, maybe he had. Because the longer he spent standing up, the dizzier he got. "Okay. Um. So...I'll see you tomorrow."

Keeping one hand on the table for balance, Jackson made his way towards the huge doors, only to realize he had no idea where he was going. There weren't any signs in this blasted, place, no helpful arrows or such. So he ended up walking around aimlessly, one hand to the trickle of blood flowing from his temple, the other on the wall. He figured he'd find the tower soon enough, and if he didn't, well...he would have a chance to explore the school.

Brie sat down for an early dinner. She had decided to be more social but it was proving to be difficult. Everyone already seems to have friends when she had only met one person so far. Sure, she had only been here for two days but at her old school, people always seemed to gravitate towards her. Here, they seem to gravitate away from her. She looks around at the other students and sees them all laughing and talking about lord knows what. She tries to envision her in that scenario. She closes her eyes and imagines her, sitting with a big group of friends, eating, having fun. She decides, If it is going to be an alternate universe, might as well imagine my sister here as well. She laughs slightly when she sees this. Suddenly there is a loud noise, from another student dropping a plate she assumed, and she opened her eyes. Feeling all alone once again.

She picks at her food, having yet to take a bite for there is no way it would be better than her mothers cooking. Her stomach growls, wanting food, and she decides to, tentatively, take a bite. Immediately, an explosion of flavor hits her taste buds. She can not tell if it tastes so good because she is hungry, or if it is because the food is just that terrific. She begins shoving the food into her mouth but then realizes someone could be looking at her and eats more carefully.

Just as Breana was starting to make a dent on her own meal, her head whipped to where a loud crash can be heard. It was the boy from before, though it looked like he survived the fall... for the most part. It looked like he could take care of himself, so Breana didn't pay him any mind as he hobbled away. She also noticed another student joining in after her sorting.

"Ooookaykaykay... You can do this Breana! Like mom said, your house can group you in to possible friends for life!!" She thought to herself, trying to hype herself to sriking a conversation. "She could be just like you... You just need to... talk! Even just a hello would do!" She then turned her attention to the brown haired girl, clearing her throat. Breana noticed that she had her eyes closed, so it came time to do the biggest hurdle for the little girl: Speaking up. "Erhm... H-hey!" Breana started, waving clumsily to the girl. "Congrats on your s-sorting and stuff... uh, I'm Breana, just got sorted, too... heh, obviously..." She chuckled awkwardly. She fumbled along with her robe before finally she held out her hand to the fellow Ravenclaw for a handshake.

She looked around to make sure this girl was talking to her. "Oh um Hello!" She would shake her hand. "I'm Brie! Nice to meet you. She would gesture to the bench, offering her to sit. She fidgeted with her ring, not knowing what to say but also elated to, hopefully, have a new friend. "How are you adjusting so far? This is only my second day and I have only spoken to a few people so far." Her hair was falling into her face, so she put it into a careful, messy bun. Did she see me with my eyes closed...she probably thinks I am mentally insane... She kicked herself for being so careless. She had only met a few people and they probably thought she was insane...but here she was talking to her. So either she was insane, or she did not care. Brie sincerely hoped it was the latter. Not that she would mind but... She fidgeted with her ring again, waiting for her response. She hoped this girl would be nice for she feared she would make no friends if this friendship did not work out.
