“I don’t think your friend has very good rhythm.” Wes said with hands on his hips, pretending to judge inanimate object. “The choreography is off a bit.” Then he looked to his own skeleton. The spell was a bit harder to say and Wes had mumbled it a few times to himself in order to try and get it down right.[/color]

“You said it so effortlessly…” He said, mouthing it lightly next, “Ta-ran-tal-legra… Well here goes nothing.” Then raising his wand, Wes flicked his wrist and moved his wand in and upward curl and back down with a tiny flourish up at the end. The tip of his wand showed a red light as he simultaneously recited the incantation. “Tarantallegra!”

Similar ‘leg’ spasms started with Wes’ wooden friend too. It seemed like it was decently on the same beat as the music the Professor has started. The boy smiled and his hair flickered some before streaks of blonde hair ran through is more sandy blonde hair. There were more than a few seconds before Wes could feel the change, he had become accustomed to feeling when the changes would come and excitement like this typically brought it on. This time was different and he noticed too late and by the time he did the streaks had already washed over his hair full, giving his head a shimmering affect like sun shining through straw.

“Looks like we’re not too bad at this whole thing, huh?” Wes said motioning to the skeletons across the class, maybe trying to take any eye from him. Many had done well and finished, but a decent sized portion was still working on it. “Are you going to dance with your partner? Though I think I have better rhythm.”

Rose smirked at Wes' comment.

"You're just being envious because I succeeded on the first try." she jokingly replied as she was looking at her indeed weird dancing skeleton.

"But it's not really to make him dance. Mostly giving him spasms making him look like he is dancing so whether is in rhythm or not doesn't matter to me!" she said satisfied and strong of her position even if she was internally laughing at how goofy they were being even more according to the fact they were actually in class.

When Wes finally succeeded to cast the spell on his skeleton which started to dance as well although more in rhythm than Roses she noticed his hair colour changed as blond hair like streaks appeared. Rose chuckled at the view but Wes didn't seem to be bothered at all.

Since they were done they had nothing else to do than wait for everyone to finish and the class to end. Wes asked if Rose was going to dance with her skeleton. She laughed.

"I'm not sure he would be the best partner to dance with actually." she said while looking at her skeleton moving oddly. Wes was right earlier -she knew it despite her answer- her skeleton was out of beat.

"However I do think you should give it a try with yours! He seemed desperate to be dancing by himself." she said as she was mischievously looking at Wes' skeleton.

"I will cheer you up both!" she pursued still on a teasing yet encouraging tone.

Wes sighed and feigned ankle pain, recalling an old injury that led them to a long walk to the Hospital Wing. Of course it did not actually hurt anymore since it was mended effortlessly. “I can’t… Nurse’s orders…” He said with a sigh before shaking his head. “Actually it was fixed in just a few seconds I think, perfectly new! I keep meaning to write my dad and tell him.”

“But come on live a little, do more than cheer,” he said as he reached for her non-wand hand, attempting to spin her once and hoping she would understand the cue. While the normally he was rather reserved, or at least he thought he was, Wes did forget where he was at times. Caught up in the moment, as his mother would always say as an excuse back home. He would always snap back to reality a bit though, normally being embarrassed or feeling a little goofy at what he did.

This instance he realized it, but only after he had already been a bit too excited. With an awkward smile, he would let go of her hand and look down at the floor for a moment. “Sorry, I got a little carried away.” Wes just chuckled lightly and ran a hand through his hair.

When Rose saw Wes' acting she couldn't help but laugh. He was being so dramatic but it was a really entertaining scene to watch.

"You have brought the worst excuse ever." she told him in between her laugh.

Wes mentioned he couldn't dance because of his previous ankle injury. He could have found a better excuse to avoid dancing since his ankle was perfectly fine especially with magic that would be the last reason for him not to be able to dance.

"You could have found a better excuse." said Rose still laughing.

However Wes admitted how fast he recovered.

"Indeed it's magic!" approved Rose.

"And how can you make your dad wait like this!" commented Rose on a serious tone she tried to have after Wes told her he hadn't even told his father about it.

Wes did not really want to dance alone with his skeleton and reached out for Rose's hand in order to make her do a spin. She laughed as she stood up and took Wes hand. It was fun so she let herself having some nice time in class since it was probably going to be rare.

When he let go of her hand he looked down as if might have regretted what he did or were ashamed since he apologised for being a bit too carried away.

Rose chuckled and reassured Wes.

"No worries! It's all fine! It was funny and it happened sometimes don't apologise for it." she flashed him a smile hoping he wouldn't feel too embarrassed before she got back to her seat.

Whatever embarrassment Wes had faded quickly and he sat down in his seat next to Rose’s. He was not even sure why it had made him embarrassed. Despite the two being finished with their assignments the class what not over and they had not been dismissed. Still, Wes packed up all of his belongings before turning to speak to his Ravenclaw friend. “I’ve just been forgetting to write home as much as I should. I’m going to start more, I just forget.” He then took a deep breath and huffed it out. “Plus… the Owlery is so far up there, really long walk. Then you have to come back and all.”

Then for a moment he looked away, just around the classroom like he was taking it all. The boy was smiling and then turned back to her again, and just smiled at her for a few seconds.

“How’s it been so far?” He asked with his head tilting just slighty, then added more to the question, “Classes, and all that. Being away from home, family, and things?” Wes was in a whole new world, but other people were still in somewhere that might feel just as different to them as it did to him. “It’s crazy thinking how life was so different just a few months ago. And we can’t really go back, can we?” There was not sadness in his voice, just a bit of solemnness in it. He was where he should be.

Rose saw Wes packing his stuffs while the class was not over yet but they were done so they had nothing more to do. Except writing homework for the next class so Rose decided not to pack anything yet.

"You know we still have homework to write." she said while looking at his empty desk with a smirk as he was not going to write on the table. The thought of Wes putting everything out of his bag to write the homework made her chuckle.

Then Wes started to speak about how he has been forgetting to send letters back home and how far the owlery was not making things easier. Rose smiled at herself as she had only send her first letter to her parents only some days ago.

"You don't have to stress yourself over it. Just write when you want and feel to." she reassured him as she remembered what a special person told her about it.

"I sent my first letter to my parents only some days ago." she confessed to let him know that there was nothing wrong in not sending letters and that it was okay as well if he forgot.

"And we are pretty busy here so it's normal to forget things I mean as long as no harm is done." she added with a smile. "But I do agree that you can freeze on the way to the owlery wondering if you even will reach it alive." she jokingly said.

Suddenly Wes started to ask a lot of questions about how she was feeling here and if she were missing her family. He also pointed out how crazy it was to think how their lives had changed in only few months as if it seemed hard for him to believe he actually was here at Hogwarts.

Rose thought about his questions and smiled. She has grown up in a wizard family so for her there were not many changes as she was accustomed to this world and she had heard about Hogwarts since her childhood and even more after her brother got in before her. So her perspective and experience here appeared to be really different from Wes'.

"Well, you know I come from a wizard family so I knew at some point -unless I were not a witch but the chances were low- I knew I was going to end up at Hogwarts. I have always heard talking about it from my parents, other family members and especially my brother after he got in here." she paused.

"So for me there is not much difference with my life before Hogwarts I guess. Although I needed to get used to everything here as it was still different from home but you know the magic and all it appeared rather normal to me." she answered him with a smile.

It was only half of the answer of all the questions Wes had asked her. As for the being away from home and family part she didn't quite know what to answer.

"I don't mind being away from home." she shyly said hoping not to look like a heartless person who doesn't miss her family at all.

"Not that I don't miss my family but I have been used not to be around them all the time and I know I will eventually see them again during holidays. And as you may know my brother is here so it's different from being totally alone and far away from all of your family."
"I suppose..." she quietly added.

A silence followed her words as she seemed thinking while looking in front of her. She snapped out of her thoughts before turning to Wes and smile at him.

"What about you? Do you miss home and all? How do you find it here?" she asked him.

At the word homework Wes hung his head over dramatically and then pulled out his stuff yet again. So much writing, on parchment with quills and ink. He already did not enjoy homework, and his handwriting was not great, but this new way of writing did not make any of it easier.

Of course, he thought, Rose would not have as much of a life change as him. Being from a wizarding family and all. Stories of Hogwarts must have been normal for her. He nodded after thinking that over. “Yeah, I forget that most all of you here grew up around magic. So here is just a normal, except you’re not at home.”

At the mention of her brother, which Wes did not know she had until now, he nodded his head again. “Oh I bet that makes it loads easier then, huh? Him being here, I mean. He can help you with stuff. And what do you mean you didn't get to see your family much? Did your parents work a lot?”

However at the silence he decided not to press her much more unless she wanted to talk about. As for his own home life he was a bit torn. Wes did enjoy it, but life with his ability was not always easy. It also made it harder on his parents. He definitely understood what Rose meant when she said she didn’t mind not being home. “I miss home, but I don’t miss being home. If that makes sense. It’s hard to explain… but I was sheltered quite a bit. A lot of problems with my hair changing color or well… a horn or something once from what my grandma said. And now I don’t really have to worry about it as much. I get weird looks still, but at least it’s not supposed to be hidden.”

He paused for a moment and shrugged, “I do miss them a lot, but honestly my sisters could be annoying.” Wes laughed at that and rolled his eyes. “I have three of them.”

Rose looked at Wes taking his stuffs out again to write the homework and she chuckled at his expression and behaviour. He really didn't seem to enjoy having homework.

Who does though? But it appeared to be worst for Wes.

He understood what she mentioned about not being of a big change to her. Although she could share Wes' feelings about missing home it was harder to her to truly understand how he might perceive magic and the fact of being at Hogwarts as someone who comes from a Muggle family. Thankfully he seemed to have well adapted when it can be way harder for others. She hoped he was not struggling too much with getting used of any magical new things.

Of course they were all getting used to the magic of the castle but for those who were more familiar with magic the adaptation may be faster thus she hoped it was not much of a struggle to Wes.

"Whenever you feel to or want to talk or have some companies don't hesitate to reach out." she told him with a smile.

At the mention of his brother Rose remembered she had never talked about him before to Wes. And Wes' face confirmed her thoughts.

"I'm sorry I thought I had told you about him before." she chuckled.

"Well actually despite he is here and we are in the same house we didn't happen to see each other often. We are both busy especially him since he is also a Quidditch plalyer. But obviously if I need anything I can reach out to him so yes in a way it can make things easier and more reassuring." she told Wes with a smile at the thought of his brother her eyes sparkling.

Rose then recalled Wes question about her parents.

"Yes they are quite busy with work so they were not home often. Especially my dad. That doesn't mean I haven't spend any time with them, no but not frequently." a sad smile appeared on her face.

Rose appreciated Wes didn't push her to answer despite the silence.

When he said he missed home but not being home she understood a bit what he meant. Especially considering him having part of his body that could change. It was true that in the Muggle world it could be seen more as a burden than something actually cool. Now being at Hogwarts he didn't have much to worry about hiding it and it should be quite a relief to him.

"I supposed you feel more relieved about it now that you don't have to hide it anymore." she commented on a wondering tone.

Yet he still missed his family and Rose learnt he had three sisters.

"Three! Home might be animated!" she chuckled at the thoughts of Wes and his three sisters being together since he said they could be annoying.

"How old are they? Younger or older? Or both?" she curiously asked him.

Wes nodded when she spoke about her dad. His dad also worked quite a bit so he spent a lot of time away from home. “Yeah it’s hard, but they’re just doing what they think is best. What does your dad do?” He asked with a tilted head. “Does he work for the Ministry of Magic? So many people here have told me their parents work for them.”

When she mentioned that he was most likely relieved to be here, since he was a Metamorphagus he let out a deep breath. It had been an interesting upbringing. “Yeah. I’m at least at a place where people understand. Apparently though there will be people who don’t like me being able to change my appearance.”

As for his sisters, he rolled his eyes a little. Not at Rose directly, but more at what he said. “I’m the youngest. the baby they call me. ”

Wes then smiled at her, it was nice to have people around who were not bothered by him using, or accidentally using, his ability. As he stared at her, Rose could see his eyes changing to be green with yellow tint closer to the pupils. “Did I do it right? Do you notice if they look like anyone you know?”

As Rose recalled Wes' dad was a doctor and what she knew about muggle doctor they seemed to be really busy at times so it wasn't a surprise Wes' father may also have been busy with his work. She was glad Wes could understand a bit what she could feel about her dad being away from home. When he asked Rose what her dad was doing she realised to have not told him despite he told her what his dad's job was.

"Yes my dad is an Auror." she answered him.
"Understanding while he is often away." she added with a chuckle.

Rose couldn't agree more about Wes comment on how many parents were working at the ministry. Maybe it was the most common place to work for wizards though.

Although Wes was agreeing with her on the fact he didn't have to worry about changing appearance here the deep breath he let out could make think otherwise. In fact he admitted some people were bothered by the fact he could change appearance. Were they feeling cheated? This thought made popped up a question into Rose's mind. She turned towards Wes before curiously asking him.

"Do you sometimes regret being a Metamorphagus? Like you wouldn't have wanted to be one?"

She couldn't imagine what he might have been going through as a young wizard living in the muggle world with such an ability. At least now he seemed more confident about it and as it appeared from his word more relieved.

When he mentioned being the youngest of his family and being called a baby by his older sisters Rose couldn't help but let out a small laugh. She also was the youngest child although they were just two so the relationships were surely different but her brother tended to treat her like a baby in a gentle way of course.

"Well they are not wrong, are they?" she told him teasingly.
"They just love you so it's their way to show you." she added softly.
"But how lucky of you to have 3 older siblings to take care of you and look out for you!" she pursued on her teasing tone again.

She couldn't really complain since her brother was really caring and attentive towards her but if Wes' sisters were the same her brother was with her how lucky Wes was to have such care from his siblings.

Wes looked at Rose and suddenly she noticed his eyes changing to a green tinted with yellow close to the pupils while asking her if she could recognise those eyes. She widened her eyes recalling their color.

"Is it....like mine?" she asked amazed by Wes ability.
