Magic vs Science Private Finished

Oooh, the girl started to talk quantum physics! That's a match! Explained from scientific point of view, good lord jesus my god, yes, yes!

"Of course, I started to research!" she dropped the voice even lower so that fewer students could hear her, "Did you ever wonder why spells should be pronounced only that exact way and no other?"

Ruby said she'd go as far as it takes. Could Meenauh dream of a better co-researcher?! Of course, she couldn't. She shouldn't dream even about a co-researcher. What the next step would be?

"Hm. Okay. What our next step would be? I would love to jump into practice right away. I haven't found single research on the semantics of spells here yet," she pointed at the numerous bookshelves around, "but I guess we could perform a few little experiments on our own? I've recently found an unused classroom, which is like ancient, so I believe we could meet there in a couple of days and commence our research? What would you say?"

She was blinking hard and smiling wide as if she found a soul-mate, which she didn't believe in but probably should have started to. It was so soothing to have someone near, someone who could understand — she should have never underestimated the power of true friendship. When there was someone out there who could see what she saw in the life around them, infinite fields of study and research, a lot to explain. Probably something that had been never explained before.

Of course, they were first-years and they will definitely learn a lot and find more books about different kinds of research. But at that moment they were the science voyagers, the discoverers. And they could claim whatever they wanted to because there was no greater world than the infinity of a child's imagination.

Meenauh mentioned how the incantations of spells had to be pronounced so precisely, and Ruby nodded. “Yes, what makes magic only work in response to that pronunciation? Of course, there are many different accents of magic users and surely some variants on the actual incantation itself, but it still works for them. There's also nonverbal magic users who are very advanced and don't even need the incantation, so why does the incantation truly matter and how is it explicitly linked to the magic? It's probably something to do with experience… but if inexperience is the main factor that causes the incantation to be needed, why is it so important that it must be said in a specific way? Do the Irish struggle at this school because of it? Why should the stereotypical "English" accent be the base for it? Is it? Do people of other nationalities with languages that have a completely different structure use different spells and incantations?”

Ruby was well aware that she had started to ramble and was thinking aloud, and she also recognised that perhaps many of her questions were "stupid" or had an easy answer. She was just a child—it was fair to be curious and not have done the research to know the response to every question. Besides, she wasn't worried about how she was perceived or if she was right. She was looking for answers, looking for knowledge and learning. No one could be right all the time.

Ruby hadn't had a research partner before. The closest she got to that was with her Ravenclaw cousin, but that wasn't quite the same as having someone her age to do it with. Someone who she had met without any family ties. A friend. Of course, her cousin was a friend, and that was all she had known for a while, but this… this was different. It was somehow more powerful, and it was invigorating to find someone who seemed so similar to her. She could likely see this Gryffindor as much as she wanted. A smile crept onto her face. “Some experimenting sounds perfect. And the idea of having our own little room for that seems thrilling, too.”

They still had a long way to go, and much to learn. So much. But Ruby had finally found the type of person she was looking for—or, rather, Meenauh had found her—and she had high hopes for their time together. This meeting had been pleasant and quite surprising, and that was a wonderful thing. There was beauty and learning in unpredictability—and to Ruby so far, those things were what Meenauh represented.
