Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
"Bassett-Vigil, Antoinette."
Antoinette's eyes looked up. It was her turn already? She stood, lowering her eyes as she felt the gazes of all the other students on her. This was it. She was going to have to face the sorting hat and see where she was destined. Her entire family has hopes for her to be in Slytherin, just like them. She was fearful in disappointing them.
She walked up to the sorting hat, sitting down and feeling it placed upon her head. She could feel her heart race as it spoked. There was a gut wrenching feeling in her stomach as the time for her to be sorted was nearer and nearer.
She looked ahead at all the students staring at her. There was Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and... Slytherin. The House her family desired for her to be in to continue their legacy. Can she be like her parents? Can she live up to their wishes?
"-GRYFFINDOR!"
Her heart stopped. She wasn't like her family at all. They were going to be so disappointed in her. Goodness, what if they... DISOWN her?
She saw the Gryffindor house jump up and cheer, welcoming her to their table. "I'm... a Gryffindor.."
They patted her back and opened way for her to have a seat. She smiled gently and lowered her head again in silence, tears welling in her eyes since she knew her parents will find out very soon about this.

Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
Sean was at the back of the group, he had walked slowly looking at every inch of this Great Hall. He thought Great was an understatement, it was Amazing, it was Spectacular, it was - Magical ! He could have never imagined ever being in a place like this. He couldn't take his eyes of the ceiling, the ceiling was a sky ! He couldn't believe.
Suddenly he heard a man talk, his voice was loud as if he was using a microphone. Sean finally looked down and saw a man holding his wand against his throat. Is that how he makes his voice louder ? He assumed that this was the case. The man greeted them and then presented himself.
Solomon Lear He had recognized the name that was on the letter he had received, the letter that changed his life. Sean continued to listen until another voice was heard but this one was different and when Sean realized from where it was coming from his eyes grew wider. It was the hat ! The Headmaster called him Sorting hat so he assumed that the hat would tell him what house he would be in. Sean looked at the Head of Houses, they all looked very different from each other.
Then the sorting started, Sean was nervous now, he did not know much about these houses and of the people in them. It seemed the hat could look into your personalty and choose what house was the better fit for you. This made Sean more nervous, he did not know what the hat would see in him.
A few students had been sorted, Sean had heard all of the names now Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. There was still a few people in front of him so he still had a bit of time before it was his turn.
"Sean Hearth !"
What ? Me ? Now ?
Sean slowly made his way threw the group and sat on the stool. Everyone was looking at him, he had never been the center of attention. His hand was trembling a bit and then the hat was put on his head. Then the Sorting hat started talking.
"Hmm interesting.. I see a taste for success... Audacity.. But also dedication and strong sense of loyalty... A good heart but a closed one.. Where to put you ?"
It felt like hours had past before the Sorting hat spoke again but when he did Sean's new home was decided.
"HUFFLEPUFF !"
The whole table of the Hufflepuff house exclaimed at the sound of their house name. Sean had never been in a situation like this before, he walked towards the table and sat with his house, his new family.

Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
Shade had spent the entire trip squirming in excitement as the sorting ceremony approached them. She stuck close to Luna throughout most of the trip and into the hall. She looked towards the roof with wide, excited eyes, taking in how beautiful the sky looked "This is incredible.." She murmured softly as she looked around the room with an excited grin on her face. She went to speak again before she heard the man speak, when he said his name, she nodded a little, having recognised it as the name signed on her admittance letter. She leant over to whisper how excited she was to Luna before she straightened up to listen to the man.
One by one she watched first year students go up and be sorted into their houses, and one by one, cheered for the students as they where sorted into their respective houses. She was excited to see where she would fit into this school, but she couldnt help the slow, nervous butterflies crawling to her belly as she watched the excited new years dash to their respected houses. She was so lost in her own thought that it shocked her when her name was called.
"Aria, Shade!"
Her heart skipped a beat, she swallowed and stood up, heading straight up to the hat. For a moment she stood and actually smiled at the hat as though it was an old friend before she took her seat and waited to feel the weight of the hat on her head. I trust you mr hat, lets do this... She thought and took a breath, closing her eyes as she felt the hat slightly wriggle against her head, causing her hair to shift and fall funny against her ears.
Hm, a plucky one i see..determination, excitement, affection...
She listened to what he said and tried not to nod along, she'd always been told she had a heart of gold but she wasnt the type to openly agree with it. She pressed her lips together and placed her hands on her lap as calmly as she possibly could. I guess i am
Well, i guess there is only one place to put you dear witch, HUFFLEPUFF!
The hat was taken off her mess of brown hair as she jumped up with a smile and headed over to meet with her new housemates.

Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
The hairs on the back of Vivi's neck were standing up ever so slightly, and her breath was rigid as she walked into the great hall. The students poured in, and even though there were quite a few arrivals who were rushed into the hall, the wide-eyed newcomer made a mental note that the massive room seemed to fit many hundreds more. She had never seen a place like this before.
To her surprise, a loud voice cried out above the chatter, and the room almost immediately fell silent. As Vivi and the others were welcomed and the student body was addressed, she couldn't help but let her mind wander and she fell so deep into thought that she was having a tough time focusing on the words that were being spoken.
"Liquidstranger, Vivi!"
Vivi took a deep breath as her mind snapped to the task at hand. She slowly made her way forwards. As the sorting hat was placed upon her head, she found herself confused. Her grandparents had told her many things about Hogwarts, but the details of the sorting were not unveiled to her. She was not prepared to hear responses to the thoughts that were swirling around in her mind. What kind of magic is this? Is this the only one of it's kind?
"You yearn to learn more about life, experience, and existence. But you are resistant to alter the way you think and learn. You resent hearing the things that will better you in the long run. That will have to change."
DO WHAT? Vivi stayed quiet, and her thoughts picked up again. How do you think this? How would you know what I am like... She poked out her bottom lip and frowned. She felt offended. This object, albeit magical object, but an OBJECT was trying to inform her of the way she though. Irritation pricked at her sides. Of course, this was all going to show that the hat was right, and she had alot to learn about being self-aware. Before she could get deeper into thought, the hat spoke again.
"RAVENCLAW!"
At this point, her anger had not completely subsided, but she managed a small smile. Setting the hat down and walking away, she looked in the direction of her new house. Typically, Vivi wasn't one to make assumptions, but it seemed as if today was just not one where she would be herself. As she scanned the faces of her housemates, she made a note that many of them looked brainy, and although they were smiling and nodding in her direction, she felt judgement and assumptions being made as she passed by.
For someone who did not react well to being corrected or being judged on her intelligence, she sure was set to face a challenge for the next seven years. She hoped desperately that she would make friends and her thoughts based on appearances were truly deceiving.

Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
Just breathe, Evelynn repeatedly told herself. But even her breaths were shaky and uneasy. She was finally going to find out which house she would be in! Tons of thoughts raced through her head; would she be in Gryffindor? Or in Slytherin? Or was she hard-working enough to be in Hufflepuff. Wise enough for Ravenclaw? Excitement and nervousness were clearly present in her body language; sweaty palms, trembling hands, impatient feet. She resisted the urge to fidget in the tight crowd of first-years the best she could.
She was a moment away from cursing at the boy who had elbowed her in the back when she finally heard her name being called from the front of the hall.
“Honred Evelynn!”
With a swift movement, she began to walk to the stool. Upon reaching it, she looked down at the sorting hat.
When she sat down on the stool, the hat was placed on her head of dirty blonde hair. Almost immediately, the hat started, “Ah! You're Jessica Adlens' daughter, yes? A Gryffindor at soul indeed, that girl,” it hummed in approval.
Evelynn raised an eyebrow at the hat challengingly, “You remember my mother?” she asked, perplexed. The sorting hat let out a sound of agreement, but when it continued, it began deciding Evelynn's fate at Hogwarts.
“A dearly brave soul you have hear,” it started. “Perhaps Gryffindor? Just like your mother.”
“Or, no. A mixed personality, I see..Maybe you will do good in Slytherin.”
Evelynn squeezed her eyes shut at its words. Slytherin? Really! She thought to herself. She has nothing against Slytherin, but just thought that she wasn't much of one.
Her thoughts were disrupted by the voice of the hat, “Hm, not very keen now, are you? Well..I've made my decision..” it went on, “You might not shine in Gryffindor like your mother, but you have a bright future in..”
“Raven claw!”
The hat howled! Evelynn grinned as she practically threw the hat on the stool before going to her new house table. She was greeted with a roar of enthusiastic applause. She heard that Ravenclaws were a pleasant and intelligent lot, so she was looking forward to her time with her fellow house members!

Exited for the new adventure Aquarius was amazed by all of the magic filling the air. The candles were lit up in all different directions in the Great hall. Following the other first years, she stopped, took a deep breath and followed along once more.
You can do this, you can do this! Nothings stopping you... right? She then thought.
What would mother have said? She said thinking about what to do. Stuck in her curiosity, the Sorting hat called
" Aquarius Laven" Other first years then looked around for Aquarius. She then showed up to the stool.
Its ok! Its ok! D-Don't be nervous! She then told herself, as she sat on the stool and had the hat placed on her head.
"Hm?" The sorting hat said.
"Ah, well if it isn't Aquarius Laven? Hm.. Should I put you with Ravenclaw? Were your father was? Hm?"
Ravenclaw? Aquarius thought.
"Or with Hufflepuff were your mother was?"
Hufflepuff? Aquarius wondered once more.
"Or if it isn't Slytherin i'm looking for? Were your Uncle was?"
Slytherin?[/i] Aquarius repeating a house name once more. I have an Uncle?
"Or maybe one different for the three hm? Gryffindor?"
Gryffindor? Aquarius repeating a house name for the last time.
"Ah I see.. Well have to see if this ones right for you... No wait... Hm interesting..." The Sorting hat said mysteriously.
"GRYFFINDOR"
Aquarius was amazed at how many people from Gryffindor were clapping. Aquarius then knew were she belonged. She hoped.

It was easy to be amazed by nearly anything in the Great Hall - there was the enchanted ceiling, the floating candles, the house flags hanging down - but Kayden Mae’s eyes were focused only on the tables and the people seated at them. She knew where she wanted to be - the reds and golds decorating the students at the Gryffindor table were calling to her like a siren song. And she knew she was likely to be placed there, following her mother’s footsteps as she usually did. After all, everyone said that the two were eerily similar, in everything from easily-flaring temper to happy-go-lucky temperament. Kayden Mae was bold and courageous to her very bones, and always attempted to be chivalrous. Still, she wondered - her father and older brother were both Hufflepuffs, and like them she would do anything for her family, and she knew she had the high-reaching drive of a Slytherin. Until her name was called, she stared intensely at each table, wondering where she would find her place.
And then, at last - “Killian, Kayden!”
She stepped forward, fiddling with her hair, and took a breath to steady herself as she sat on the stool. Almost immediately, a voice filled her mind.
‘Of course, a Killian. Well, you certainly differ from your brother Elliot. He’s the water to your fire, isn’t he? Still, you have a kind heart, a loyal one. And yet ... not the most hard-working, are you?’ Her eyebrows furrowed in offense. ‘Oh, come now, you know I’m right. You are incredibly like your mother, though. Well, I do see a competitive side to you, a willingness to climb to the top, but you ... well, you lack the subtlety of a Slytherin. Yes, I really think it best you follow your mother into ....’
“GRYFFINDOR!”
Kayden Mae beamed as she stood, setting the hat on the stool, and practically skipped to her seat at the table. This was going to be the start of a good year.

Sorting Ceremony 2019-2020
This was the first time Eyme had ever been in a castle before, and the astonishment was written all over her face. The inside of the ancient building was just as extravagant as the outside yet it's labyrinthine interior was more than a little daunting. She and the other first years toured the castle, led by the prefects and professors, Eyme couldn't help but look this way and that way in complete awe. Hearing about Hogwarts all of her life was one thing, but actually being an official student inside of it was another. It felt ever so real now!
As they made their way through the many halls and corridors, glancing into empty rooms, gazing at the huge portraits, and gaping at the moving stairs, Eyme couldn't help but realize that she would really have to pay attention to where everything was if she didn't want to get lost later on. She had more than a few classes and they were all over the place so she had to come up with a good strategy to find where she had to go, and quickly. I'll probably have to stick with a group of friends, that's really my best bet, she thought, as they rounded the last corner.
The Great Hall, with it's grandiose doors flung wide open, suddenly lay before them. Students began to ooh and ahh, including Eyme, as their excitement grew. In a few minutes they'd be participating in the Sorting Ceremony, where they'd get into one of the four famous houses of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. Eyme liked them all so she worried less about where she'd be sorted and more about where she'd be sleeping; she was beginning to feel ever so drowsy!
Soon they were walking down the center of the Great Hall, surrounded by students who very much filled each of the four long tables. At the end of the hall lay the tables where all of the professors and other staff members sat, where they gazed down at the newest students with a mix of incisive and warmth.
The Headmaster of the school, Professor Lear, began his annual speech for the beginning of the school year, in which Eyme began to squirm, twisting the fabric of her robes in her hand. She felt so excited to be here but there was a growing sense of worry inside her. Will I do well? What will the classes be like—no, what will the students be like? They seem nice so far but you never know...
She gazed over the sea of the students to find her older brother, Eyan. Last year he was sorted into Ravenclaw and every month he had sent letters to both Eyme and their father, sharing his experience at the famous school. In his letters Eyme could hear the respect and the disdain for the school, but most of the latter was towards the students, especially the Slytherins and Gryffindors. But Eyan was a very reserved person who wanted little to do with nonsense so Eyme didn't think too much of his thoughts; she was just the opposite, she loved to play around!
When she caught his eye they both nodded at each and then went back to the Sorting Ceremeremony, since the Headmaster was about to begin calling out names. Eyme folded her arms to keep her hands from fidgeting; she really couldn't wait for her name to be called.
“Root, Eyme.”
Eyme stumbled forward, much to the amusement of some her peers, and sped over to the stool. Less than a second after she sat down was the hat placed on top of head.
She stared at the ground, waiting for the hat to say something, anything that would ease her anxiety, when he suddenly said, in the softest of voices, “Your mother was a Hufflepuff.”
Eyme froze. So many thoughts ran through her head, some gleeful while others solemn, but before she could even utter a word the Sorting Hat shouted, “HUFFLEPUFF.”
She was quickly guided off the stool and pointed towards her table, even though she knew where it was already. She had a dazed look on her face, like she had just woken up, but Eyme was only lost in thought, pondering over the five most important words she'd just heard in years: Her mother was a Hufflepuff.

To say Damien was nervous would be a bit of an understatement. What was a good word to describe how he was feeling right now? Terrified? Petrified? His mouth was dry as a desert and his traitorous legs wouldn’t stop wobbling no matter how much he commanded them. He kept reminding himself that it wasn’t such a big deal, and it wasn’t even that bad, but alas, the feeling of impending doom still lingered.
Perhaps it was the fact that he was now stuck at a magical castle, and this would determine his fate for the next seven years. He glanced around at the four tables, piled with a plethora of different foods and drinks. Slytherin. A house he certainly wasn’t going to get into. He had heard they were “cunning” and “ambitious”. Two adjectives that simply didn’t fit Damien. Ravenclaw, the smart table so he had been told. There he might have a chance. Sure, he told himself, he was smart...At certain things...He shook his head. Hufflepuff. Everyone at that table looked so happy and caring. Yes, he wouldn’t mind that house. He wouldn’t mind at all. He was compassionate and such, Gryffindor. He almost laughed at the irony of it, look at how terrified he was, and he just had to put on a silly little hat.
Smith, Damien
Oh lord, that was him.
He stumbled forward out of the crowd of other first years, willing himself not to trip.
He patted down his hands on his pant legs for the billionth time and began his uneasy walk up to the Sorting Hat. After what seemed like several years, but was probably actually a minute at most, Damien staggered up to the stool and pretty much fell onto it, extremely grateful for the sturdiness of the stool’s legs compared to his flimsy appendages. He felt the hat placed onto his head and everything slipped away.
“Mm...Interesting. Damien is it? Intriguing...Very thoughtful one are we? A thinker! Hm. Not the bravest I’ve ever seen, but there is a bit of hidden potential. Ambition is lacking, although we can’t rule out that. Well Damien this was actually quite simple! I guess a quick peek into one’s mind will do that! You best belong in…”
“RAVENCLAW!!!”
Damien’s eyes widened as he reeled off the stool and almost tripped face first in front of everybody. A cheer went up around a blue table and Damien quickened his pace to get over to it, his hands shaking. He glanced around at all the new faces and the sudden realization that he would be here for the next seven years of his life hit him. The millions of possibilities waiting to be explored. For once he wasn’t trembling from fear, but rather excitement. Perhaps he had finally found a place where he belonged.

Sorting Ceremony
The moment of truth was here....the Sorting Ceremony; never in my entire life had I been more appreciative of the alphabet than I was in that moment. As they went through the new students alphabetically the lull in time give me the moments I needed to put a cap on my nerves. Yep; you guessed it; the nerves I'd had back on the train returned with a vengeance.
I stood in the back; behind everyone with my eyes closed concentrating on my breathing. It seemed much too soon my name was called from the stage "LaMotta, Piper"; I seemed to snap out of my meditative state in that moment. With as much confidence as I could muster; no matter if it was fake or not; I walked up on stage and waited to be sorted...my mother and grandmother failed to mention the hat speaks to you.
"Ah, I see man things; I feel a great goodness. Well, sometimes you can be a superstitious. No matter what, you love it when we tell you you're someone judicious.
You are impatient to attend Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. You could love to cast a Patronous Charm.
If Hogwarts was on fire, you would throw yourself into the flames to save your trunk.
I see you wish to show them all that you can be strong and steadfast and that you dream of becoming a great professor. You are ready to make scarifies in order to show your worth.
Indeed, Hogwarts is, without a doubt, is the ideal place for you to reach your goals and dreams. And I have no doubt about which House will take you to them."
Everything was spoken inside my head; it was like the hat could see straight into my soul.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
I narrowly missed the last word the hat shouted to the entire hall because I was lost in my own thoughts; however even if I had the cheers erupting from the table would have been enough to tell me where I belonged. The cheers were so welcoming I couldn't help but smile as I bounced over to the table.
