The classroom was empty, but the room was soon occupied due to a slow trickle in of students who had been warned by the bell that break was over. Wes had walked in with another Gryffindor boy when the class was about half full. The two had planned to sit next one another, however the seat was nabbed by a Hufflepuff student before he was forced to try find another seat. Across the room there were a few empty seats on the front row that he reluctantly had to take for his own. He did not want to sit there, not because he did not want to learn, but because he was worried to be called on.

One thing did surprise him though. He looked around the classroom and saw a bunch of dismembered wooden skeletons in the room. The stories Wes had heard about the Professor were true. She had a rather interesting teaching style, unless the room was just very untidy.

When he sat down he took out his textbook, notebook, and quill. Wes was actually a bit nervous, for two reasons - well three. One, he did not know what he was doing at all. Two, he had not read the book whatsoever, being preoccupied with other class readings and attempting to acclimate himself with his new schedule here. It was obvious too, the text book had not even been opened yet and still had an immaculate spine. It was only the first lesson, he thought, they would not actually be diving in deep right?

The third reason felt dumb to him, but he still felt nervous about it. Some of the Gryffindor boys had mentioned that Professor Fresnel was pretty. The awkwardness of youth, one could guess.

Regardless of any of that, Wes sat there looking around for someone else he would know. Hoping that someone would trickle in and take the open seat by him.

It was the end of the break and her second class was about to begin. Rose was being late as she didn't like to. It happened as she spilled ink in her previous class to her desk and had to clean everything up before leaving making her late for her next class she hoped hadn't started yet. She had Charm. A class she rather liked and for which she was surprisingly not that bad.

After leaving the classroom Rose half ran in the corridor to get to the Charm class thankfully which was not to far from her previous class. She hoped not to trip or bump into someone as that would make her even more late. She quickened her pace and reached the classroom all panting her books in her arms and her bag almost falling from her shoulder with messy hair. She looked as if she had run a marathon. Hopefully no one would really look at her as they would be busy looking around the classroom or discussing.

She stood at the entrance and calmly caught her breath before entering the class. Thankfully the class hadn't started yet. However it seemed she was the only one student left to come as all the seats were taken. All except one at the front row. She grinned. She didn't like being at the last row but neither at the front. She was usually sitting at the 3rd or 4th row as it was neither too far ahead nor too far behind. But she had no other choice than to take this seat as it was the only one available. Plus it was her fault for being late.

Rose quickly went up to the seat and sat without paying attention to who was sitting on the other chair next to hers as she was too shaken from hurrying and half running. She put her books on the desk looking a bit unorganised unlikely her. And it was not even the right books as it was the ones from her previous class. She promptly put them back in her bag before taking out the right book, her notebook along her quill and ink. She hoped for the person next to her not to pay attention at the mess she was -both on her table and physically-. Her hands were still covered in ink from the previous class incident as she didn't have time to go to the bathroom to clean herself up. Her hair were a bit messy and her cheeks slightly red from the run.

Once settled in she sighed of relief for not being arrived after the beginning of the class as it was only starting now.

Wes had been sitting there still looking at the wooden pieces of a skeleton on the floor. He was still a bit nervous about the class, if he would do well or if he would make a fool of himself. Now that the class was full the professor would surely be starting the lesson soon. When he turned to see who walked in his eyes landed not on the Professor, but on a familiar redheaded Ravenclaw girl.

A smile was offered her way and she came to sit by him, but she never really looked his direction. For a second the boy was slightly disappointed but when he noticed that Rose seemed a tad bit anxious, possibly about almost being late or the ink that was all over her hands, Wes’ disappointment faded.

“Hey, Bookworm!” He said with an attempt to be quiet, but there was a bit too much of excitement in his voice and it was louder than he had hoped. “I saved you a seat.” This last part was said with a joking tone. Wes had not wanted to sit on the front row, for many reasons, but it ended up being not all too bad.

Wes’ smile changed as he noticed her hands with ink stains. “Lost a fight with a quill?” As soon as he asked that, he smirked and raised his left hand where ink had been marked on his pinky down to his palm. ”I write weird so I always get them, and it smudges my parchment…

It was about time for the class to begin.

Not long time after she was all settled Rose heard the person sat next to her greeting her and calling her bookworm she smirked as she recognised this familiar voice and the nickname that only one person has been giving her. It was Wes. The boy she met last time as he had twisted his ankle and needed to be taken to the hospital wing. It was true they had some classes together and today by chance they were finding themselves sitting next to each other.

That wasn't too bad and better than a random stranger especially according to her look.

"Oh Wes, Hi!! I'm sorry I didn't even notice it was you sitting next to me." Rose apologised as she felt a bit ashamed not to have pay attention earlier but glad to see a familiar face.

"I was so scared to be late though." she added with a sigh while looking at her stained hands.

Wes noticed her hands as he asked her if she had a fight with a quill. She hoped she had it would have been way funnier. She chuckled at his teasing before answering him.

"If only..." she sighed.
"To be honest it would have been funnier and worthy to be late as well as having stained hands." she jokingly said.

"Unfortunately I just happened to spill my ink during the previous class all over my desk so I had to clean everything up before leaving." she said sighing.
"And as you can notice, she slightly raised her hands, I didn't have time to clean up myself." she added on an annoyed tone while looking at her hands again.

However Wes showed her his left hand which was also stained from the pinky down to the palm. Rose slightly laughed at this view.

"Well at least I'm not alone and we are sitting next to each other. What a coincidence. Let's say we are ink stain partner!" she jokingly said.

However suddenly the classroom went silent announcing the class was going to start. Rose who didn't look around the classroom before only noticed now the wooden skeleton wondering what it was for. She was curious and hoped for the class to be interesting.

"What do you think are these wooden skeletons for?" she quietly asked to Wes almost whispering as the class had begun and since they were on the front row she didn't want to be noticed chatting in class.

“I was late to Potions… it took so long to get there and I kept getting turned around by the stairs…” Wes huffed out the words with some annoyance and then shrugged. At least he had not be scolded for being late or anything and it also made him make sure he was on time for every other class on schedule “I didn’t think Ravenclaws were allowed to be a late.” This was said with a smile followed a tisk tisk sound with his mouth.

The boy then rubbed his hand in an attempt to wipe off more ink, but it did nothing except smug it more. He sighed. “You know, I think there is a spell for it? Maybe the Professor will know.” Wes mentioned referring to the ink stains, but honestly he did not know even though he thought it had to be one that could.

As for the skeletons he shrugged and then lowered his voice to a whisper, still not very quiet but definitely quieter than earlier. “Maybe a charm to make them stand or something? I’m not sure, I haven’t even opened this book yet.” Wes motioned to his pristine Charms textbook that had not been touched yet.

Then the lesson started and the class decided hush up all the way. The professor announced subject matter for the day, which was the Dancing Feet Spell and the Mending Charm. Wes leaned over and said quietly, “no ink removing charm today.”

The lesson went on with the explanation of the spell, Rose would have been able to notice that Wes blushed a few times when the professor looked in their direction and that he was very attentive to the lecture. Eventually the professor used the mending charm and dancing feet charm on the skeletons, playing some music in the background for some rhythm. Then it was the students turn to practice. Wes looked excited, but a bit nervous to be attempting magic with his wand for the first time. He turned to Rose and asked, but also could easily have been noticed as a plea. “Want to be my partner?”

Wes also explained to Rose he was late for potions. She couldn't agree more as the way to go to the dungeons and the potions classroom seemed endless.

"Whenever I go to potions class I feel like I'm heading down to the center of the earth." she told Wes.

The potions classroom was indeed a bit dark compared to other classes.

Then Wes commented on being late as a Ravenclaw he didn't it was allowed as if it was not.

Rose couldn't help but chuckled at this comment as if she was late on purpose.

"Well maybe it's not allowed." she jokingly said.

"No more seriously I hate being late and believe me if I could have not been late today I would have rather liked it." she added more on a serious tone.

It was true she hated being late at classes and when unexpected event or incident were happening like the one earlier it was stressing her out as she was overthinking about what was going to happen next. Maybe that was another reason why she was a Ravenclaw.

She saw Wes trying to wipe off the ink of his hand in vain. Instead it mostly spread it even more. He was right if only they knew a spell to clean their hands up and look less dirty. Because having ink stains all over the hands looked indeed very dirty to Rose. Furthermore she might stain her other things although the ink was mostly dry already. She would have to wait until the end of this class to go washing it.

After her question about the wooden skeletons Wes answered he hadn't opened the book yet making Rose slightly smiled.

"I did open it but there were no referring to wooden skeletons. So I guess they are just here as dolls to practice or give a demonstration of what we will learn." said Rose almost whispering.

It appeared today's class focused on two charms: Mending Charm and Dancing Feet Spell. It might be interesting although as Wes said no ink remover spell. Unfortunately for them. But well it was useful to learn both charms they were going to learn today as Rose read about them in the book and she was impatient to practice them.

To do so they had to practice on a wooden skeleton that was placed on their desk. Unexpectedly Wes asked Rose to be his partner. She was not sure how since it was mostly individual practice but if Wes needed advice or reassurance she would gladly help him.

"Sure!" she said smiling to him.

Then she looked at him waiting for him to cast the first spell they had to: the Mending Charm.

When Rose did not go first Wes managed to hold in a sigh. He really did not want to go first, but he stepped up like it was no problem and pulled his wand out which he held in his left, inky hand. The wand was average in length and light colored wood.

When he held it at the ready the bit of nervousness disappeared and he smirked as if confidence had filled him to the brim. Simultaneously as he spoke the incantation, Wes flicked his wand in a swirl that started from the bottom, “reh-PAH-roh!” He said it with such confidence and the pieces of the wooden skeleton appeared to move to his will. Well… mostly. The arms connected to the shoulders, its head reattached, and even the legs came back to the rest of the body. The issue was that the arms and legs were in the wrong spots. It was an odd sight, though goofy.

“Close enough?” He said turning to Rose with a huff of a laugh. Once he lowered his wand the pieces fell back to the floor. “Geez… guess not.” The smirk was still there, despite the failure, the young Gryffindor appeared to be enjoying himself. “I did it exactly as she said and did.”

So he tried again, doing the incantation and the wand movements the exact same way. With a shrug and another smirk, “I’m doing it right, right?”

Rose let Wes going first but he didn't seem that confident about it. However he kept his composure and held his wand out ready to cast the spell on the wooden skeleton in front of him. He clearly spelt the incantation and did the right wand movement before the legs and arms of the skeleton moved to place themselves on the body yet they were not at their right emplacement as legs were where arms are supposed to be and arms to legs. Rose smiled trying to keep her seriousness as she didn't want Wes to think she was making fun of him. Actually she was not at all but the view of the skeleton with legs and arms switched was rather funny.

"It's better than nothing you know and than exploding." Rose reassured Wes who was lowering his wand.

Rose was going to try on her skeleton when falling noise could be heard. She turned her head only to see Wes' wooden skeleton dismantled again on the table. She quickly looked at Wes who appeared not to be too desperate nor disappointed.

"Don't worry you will succeed!" she encouraged him.

Indeed he did not give up and tried repeatedly as he wanted to be sure he was doing everything right. It seemed to Rose it was right.

"Hmm that should be working..." she said thoughtfully while looking at Wes attempt.

"Let me try if you don't mind." she told Wes before shifting her sight to her own wooden skeleton in front of her.

She took her wand out and focused before pronouncing the incantation.

"Reparo" she clearly spoke as she draw a reversed G-like -starting from the bottom- with her wand.

And as the magic happens the wooden skeleton formed itself legs and arms at their right place. Rose smiled satisfied with herself although a bit nervous hoping the skeleton wouldn't fall into pieces soon as it did with Wes'.

The boy clapped his hands when Rose’s skeleton stood up right with all of its bits in the right places. “Well… you did it right.” Wes huffed out a laugh as he shook his head in appreciation of her work versus his almost correct attempt at spellcasting. His brow furrowed for just a second before he had an ‘aha!’ moment and looked down at the textbook in the section on Reparo. That was it, the wrong movements. He smacked himself lightly on the forehead and sighed. After figuring out what he had done wrong, this time instead of starting from the bottom he did the similar backward G figure as Rose had done.

Now the pieces rattled a bit before floating in the air and pulling back together. The arms were where they were supposed to be and legs where they were supposed to be, allowing the skeleton to stand on its own and not dropping back to the floor in pieces. There was a bit of a fist pump that he did, but the fact that he had an outburst like that did embarrass the boy some. Wes waited a second or two to turn back to Rose, but his cheeks were still lightly red. He then held up his hand for a high five, assuming she would give it. “Got it!”

Now they were ready for the next task, to make them dance. The professor had already put on some music with a nice tempo for the skeletons, and students if they would like, to dance to. So far it did not appear that the majority of the class were finished mending the skeletons, so that meant Rose and Wes were a bit above the curve for now. Wes, with his wand still out, gave Rose half bow accompanied with a wink, “The lady first.”

Wes congratulated Rose for succeeding the spell and repairing her wooden skeleton which turned out to stay still standing without falling. She sighed of relief. Then Wes check the book again to understand where he might have been wrong in his spell casting. It turned out it was his wand movement. Rose recalled it and it's true he did a slightly different movement than her so probably that's where it went wrong.

He tried again and this time it worked well! The wooden skeleton was finally correctly fixed. Wes raised his hand for a high five and seemed really proud. Actually he could be. Rose smiled at him giving him back the high five as she chuckled. Hopefully the class didn't seem to serious and was allowing them to goof around a bit.

But not soon after they were asked to perform the Dancing Feet Spell. Wes jokingly let Rose go first. She laughed at his acting before focusing. Actually she didn't mind going first for that one since Wes went first for the previous one. She slightly cleared her voice before spelling the incantation.

"Tarantallegra" she said as she moved her wand in slight curl before rising it up with a small bend to shift it in a straight line to the right before dropping it back down straightly to end with a tiny flick up as a purple light flashed out of the top of his wand.

The skeleton legs started to move not really dancing looking but more like having spasms. It seemed to be right. She was satisfied and turned towards Wes.

"You turn, now." she smiled.
