Quidditch Practice

Isabella dragged her friend, Riley Thackery, to the Quidditch Pitch that morning. The end of year was approaching, so she wanted to practice as much Quidditch as she could before going home at the end of the year.

"Come on, Riley! We're so close!" She broke into a run as they neared the pitch. The wind whistling in her ears, she ran to the Quidditch shed. She yanked the doors open and grabbed the broomstick she had been using all school year. It wasn't hers, but it felt right to use.

"Izzy, I admire you for loving this sport, but I am not going to get on a broom," Riley stated.

"Fine, fine. You don't have to," Izzy huffed, "If you won't get on a broom, can you at least throw something for me to catch?"

"Of course, Izzy." With that, Isabella kicked off from the ground. She sped around and did a couple of loops. She got in position, ready to catch whatever Riley threw at her.

Riley started throwing pickle balls in random directions. Izzy zoomed around the area to catch them. She missed about three in total. She had a good feeling about becoming Seeker the next year.

That's when she noticed another person on the ground. She hoped they were a Quidditch fan, if so, they would get along well. She also hoped that she could make another friend, but she wouldn't tell them that.

So, who was this mysterious person, and why were they in the Quidditch area?

Quidditch Practice
Callum hadn't expected to run into anyone on the pitch this morning, his hair was still slightly messy from just rolling out of bed. He had his broom in his hand and snitch in his pocket, wanting to get some practice time in. Callum didn't recognize these people, they definitely weren't on the quidditch team.

"Must be first years.." Callum thought to himself.

The two girls seemed to be practicing as well, one girl stood on the grCallound throwing balls up into the air while the other on the broom zoomed around and caught them. He watched them for a while, their giggles filled the quiet space of the pitch. He thought about going over to them but he wasn’t the type of guy to intrude on other people's fun.

He sighed softly, adjusting his grip on his broom before hesitantly walking over to them.

“Hey…” he said quietly, his voice a bit rough from not having spoken much that morning. “I, uh… I didn’t mean to stare or anything but, I was just going to do some snitch practice.”

Callum scratched the back of his head, he wasn’t the greatest at talking to people. “If you want… you can practice with my snitch if you’d like. Or… or I could help you with catching drills… or something.”

He cleared his throat, feeling his cheeks warm. “I’m Callum, by the way… Callum Alistar. I’m the second string seeker for Hufflepuff.”

He gave them an awkward smile, hoping that his approach wasn't too weird. He shifted from foot to foot, awaiting their response

The person came over, and spoke to them, "Hey... I, uh... I didn't mean to stare or anything but, I was going to do some snitch practice. If you want, you can practice with my snitch if you'd like. Or... or I could help you with catching drills... or something. I'm Callum, by the way... Callum Alistar. I'm the second string seeker for Hufflepuff."

Izzy/Isa flew down to the ground and smiled. "Hi, Callum! I'm Isabella Dín. I'd love if you joined us for practice! Would you like to practice catching the snitch, too? Riley isn't really into Quidditch, but she's been helping me practice! I'm only a first year, so of course I'm not on the team, but I really hope to be seeker once there's a spot! Who's the team captain? Also, you can call me Isa or Izzy!"

Isa was very happy to be talking to another Quidditch fan, a seeker of all people. "Oh, it would be great if we could use your snitch! Thanks for the offer!" She added as an afterthought. Izzy took to the air once more and flew a couple loops, then came back to Callum, hoping that he made a decision.

Quidditch Practice
Callum watched Izzy take off again, she made a couple more rounds before coming back. He'd never seen someone so eager to practice Quidditch. "You've definetly got the enthusiasm of a seeker." he said as she touched back down near him. "Nice to meet you Izzy!"

Callum held up the snitch, its wings fluttering against his fingers. "And yeah, you can use mine. It's been giving me trouble lately, maybe it'll behave for you." Callum hopped on his broom, lifting a few feet into the air. "I also don't mind helping with catching drills. Its nice to have someone who actually like Quidditch to train with."

At her question, he nodded. "We have two captains! The Captain is Avery McCall and our Co-Captain is Lea Hirsch!"

"Oh and please, if you have any other questions, I will be happy to answer them." Callum opened his palm and let the snitch loose. "Whenever your ready Izzy!"

"Thank you! It's great to meet you, too. Thanks for telling me who the captains are!" Isabella watched the snitch as it was released from Callum's hand.

She stared at it, and tried not to lose it as she mounted her broom again. She took to the sky, and flew after it.

She looked behind her, looking for Callum. She didn't see him, but she thought that he was probably in the sky somewhere.

It flew in and out of goalposts, and into the stands as well. It made loop-the-loops, and even came straight toward her once.

She dove and zipped right and left. Eventually she had gotten it cornered against the ground. She flew forward to grab it, but it flew up, almost hitting her on the nose as it flew up.

She was working to solve a problem. She flew around the pitch, wondering. How could she get the snitch if it could move every which way? She could chase it right into one of the stands towers.

Yes! Perfect. Bella looked around for the snitch; soaring through the sky. Eventually she spotted it. It was in front of the sun. She flew away from it, and then she flew up, her broom gaining speed, until eventually she was just above the snitch, right behind it. Or maybe she wasn't behind it.

Nevertheless, she flew at it, chasing it down into one of the stand towers. She had to catch it before it got there, or it would just bolt away. Bella grabbed onto her broom with her left hand, and she reached for the snitch with her right.

The wind blew through her hair; making it go crazy. She reached. Her fingers were almost there. Just a little bit further! And her fingers closed around the snitch. She imagined a match. 210 - 60 to Hufflepuff.

She landed back on the ground beside Riley, and held the snitch. Wherever Callum was, she didn't know exactly, so she held it up to the sky. "Here you go! Would you like me to let go of this for you to catch?!" She hollered upward.

She stood there, staring up at the sky, waiting for the answer to her question.

Fall. Fall was one of the only things that stayed the same ever since Andy left his home for the first time to be a first year at Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardery. Most things changed, like the variety of teas for Breakfast, rock hard beds, and no parents there to kiss your forehead and wish you a good night's rest. Of course, as a early-third year, Andy was used to living in a huge, magical castle. Matter a fact, it can sometimes even get boring, and that is where a good'ol solo Quidditch practice comes in. Nothing feels better than soaring through the sky on your nimbus and blocking shots that come at you at one hundred miles per hour. Andy walked out on this spectacular day for Quidditch to see people already using it... Yes!, the boy thought. If there where people at the pitch, then they could possibly even train him... if they are kind enough of course... But first, warm ups. Up! The boy said as the broom slapped into his hands. He put one leg over the broom, and took off for three laps around the pitch. The wind soared through Andy's body making Andy feel a lot of energy. When he finished his warm up, the boy gladly went up to the two who where also using the pitch. They seemed to be in a conversation. Andy turned on his most polite mode on, and went for it: Excuse me, sorry to interupt, may I request something from the two of you?
