A smile crossed Devon’s lips as she looked back at Ellie. She briefly pushed a few stray strands of her hair behind her ear. The last thing she wanted was to be blinded by her hair when playing. Thankfully, that didn’t happen too often when she played soccer. Even worse was when she was broom racing. At such high speeds, she couldn’t afford to be distracted! Er, at least when it came to her hair, anyway. She had to watch what was happening and hopefully dodge! While she had experience playing soccer like this, and with dancing, sadly, gracefulness didn’t necessarily translate exactly to dodging ability up in the air.
Before Devon could attempt to kick the ball again, Ellie took the ball from her. She giggled quietly, but didn’t attempt to take it back. This wasn’t an actual game of soccer, and she was trying to show the other girl how to play the game. It was not exactly a competitive environment. So, to compensate for her natural burst of energy, she slightly slowed down to give Ellie time to kick the ball and try to score a goal.
The first kick wasn’t bad at all. True, it didn’t give enough force for it to fly into the goal. But it did bring the ball that much closer to the goal! That was naturally very beneficial! Devon didn’t want to attempt to micromanage, so she waited to see what Ellie would do now that the ball was closer and not yet in the net. Thankfully, Ellie then decided to run up and kick the ball again. It soared through the air and landed inside the goal.
“Great job, Ellie!” Devon shouted to her. With a smile, she jogged to the goal and kicked the soccer ball out of the goal, and back towards Ellie. “Would you like to try again?” She proposed.
