The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
Elowin shook with excitement and gratitude that the Sorting had had placed her in Ravenclaw the wise house the smart house. She had always wanted to be in Ravenclaw and all the Ravenclaws welcomed her into the house. She payed less and less attention as the sorting went on and when the feast appeared on the plates she hardly ate. She was thinking about how she would make new friends and have fun in her dorm, go to classes and…. and…She only was brought back to Earth when the Ravenclaw ghost the gray lady appeared. She was just so excited to be a Ravenclaw. Suddenly the feast ended. It seemed like only seconds since she’d been sorted to Elowin. She dazedly followed a prefect up to Ravenclaw tower and watched the clever prefect solve the riddle. She couldn’t wait to feel more home in Ravenclaw!! Though a slight worry niggled at her. What if her mother was disappointed that she was not in Slytherin like her! No she pushed her worries aside. If her Sister, Cora was there she could not care less if she was in Ravenclaw or Slytherin and that meant a lot to Elowin. Still the learning would be hard but she knew she had it in her somewhere.

The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
The sorting hat had already been lifted off her head but its loud voice still resonated in her ears. Ravenclaw. Hadn't the headmaster said something about what each of the houses represented? To be frank, she could not remember for the life of her. Had she heard it right: 'wise old Ravenclaw'? Jean had never thought herself to be very smart. In every year of primary school, she had worked hard to keep up with the work but there was always a student who got higher grades than her. She had never been the cleverest person in a room. Although Jean felt bad for thinking it, the sorting hat might have misjudged where her talents laid.
Snapping back to the present, she noticed everyone was waiting for her to get a move on. Where was she supposed to go now? Every other first-year seemed to be in-the-know about wizarding customs, while Jean was merely stumbling along.
Luck was on her side, though, since cheers erupted from but one of the four tables. All students were wearing the same black robes as she donned, but with blue ties wrapped around their necks. Wicked, she thought to herself. Blue was her favourite colour. Jean's knees almost buckled as she stood up from the dingy stool and walked to the Ravenclaw's table. She sat down.
Ravenclaws at the table welcomed her with open arms, making Jean let out a relieved sigh. At least right now, she did not have to worry abour bullies. More and more firstyears were sorted into Ravenclaw and took a seat next to her. What would be a good icebreaker? Her mind drew a blank.

The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
Timothy clambered over the bench after his sorting. Looking up and down the table many people had started talking amongst themselves while the remaining students where sent to their new houses.
He was a little nervous. He had been expecting he would be placed in Ravenclaw but that didn't make the older students around him any less intimidating. How could he possibly measure up to these people. Surely they would think him simple.
Timothy remember the final advice his mother had for him before he got on the Hogwarts express that morning.
"All the first years at your table will be nervous. Not just you. Someone is going to need to be brave and introduce themselves first."
Taking a deep breath he looked over at the first years nearby, and whispered over to them. "Hi. My name's Timothy. I like ancient runes, but I don't know if we get to learn them straight away. Do you think there will be a club for them. I hope lessons start straight away tomorrow.." He cut himself off before he started rambling. "Anyway, what's your name?"
He smiled nervously at each of the students sat near him. Trying his best not to look nervous to the older Ravenclaws. waiting for a response.

The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
The day of the distribution at Hogwarts.
I entered a gigantic room. Some students next to me were saying it was the Great Hall, and it certainly lived up to its name. I didn't feel very comfortable; there were so many people around me, and I'd always been used to living surrounded by the forest and animals. Anxiety gripped my heart, but then I remembered the bracelet Mom had given me before I left. I touched the bead, and I calmed down immediately. I stepped forward when my name was called. A strange hat was placed on my head, and it began to speak. In a deep voice, it announced that I would be in Ravenclaw House. I walked over to the Ravenclaw table, and they greeted me with loud applause. I smiled; they seemed kind. I sat down and watched the rest of the repairs. When they were finished, I thought about the letter I would write to my family! I was so eager to see them again. Still stressed and sad about no longer living with them, I became interested in the banquet.
I could have joined the conversation, but fear gnawed at me; I didn't want to disturb those who already knew each other. I simply ate because I was very hungry, and the train journey had made me hungry.

Timothy looks nervously around the table before spotting the girl with long black hair and blue eyes. She doesn't seem to be talking to anyone, just playing with a bead on her bracelet.
I wonder if she is shy, or just doesn't want to talk. What would I even say to her?
Timothy watched as the food appeared, the girl began ating, as he idly put some vegetables on his plate.
I'm not doing a very good job of making friends am I. Maybe I should try asking something else.
Timothy's mind began racing as he automatically ate. Trying to think of the best way to at least finish this meal having made at least one connection with another student.
Finally, he half waved at the Dark haired girl.
"Hey, are there any particular classes you are looking forward to?" As soon as he started talking his tongue started getting carried away again. "I'm looking forward to Ancient Runes but I know we don't start that until third year. Oh also.. Sorry, What's your name?"
Timothy closed his mouth, feeling the heat of his blood rising to his face. He was fairly sure he was making a fool of himself and was bright red, but he tried not to cringe away or allow his own nervousness to get in the way.

I was eating peacefully; the meal was good, but I preferred the delicious meals Mom used to make. While I was wondering when I'd finally be able to go home, a boy near me started talking. Surprised, I looked up. He asked me which classes I'd like to take, then launched into an explanation of ancient runes, saying we could start the course in our third year. He apologized for talking so much and asked me my name. I didn't want to speak at all; fear was twisting my stomach. I was so used to people laughing at me every time I said my name that I was terrified to answer him. I raised my head just a little and replied in a small voice:
"I don't know which classes I'd like to take, and my name is Lili Blue. What's yours?"
Out of courtesy I had asked him a question, but my whole being wanted me to disappear underground. My mind was torn between two things. Either I talked to others and made friends, but also made enemies, or I stayed in my corner, alone with my books, and no one would bother me. I chose the second option. As my mother used to say, it's better to be alone than in bad company.
The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
Timothy's shoulders relax with a sigh of relief that Lili Blue seems willing to talk to him.
I will assume that she prefers to go by Lili Blue, not just Lili. She would have introduced herself as Lili if she only wanted that.
"I'm Timothy. Nice to meet you Lili Blue." Timothy took a moment to take a sip of pumpkin juice before continuing "In terms of which classes to take, we don't get a choice in first year. It'll be the standard subjects. I am looking forward to potions class. I've read through the text book obviously, but a lot of the time it just reads like a cooking recipe. Just how to make the potions, not why certain ingredients are used and when. Did you know that in the cure for boils, if you add the porcupine quills before taking the cauldron off the fire you end up making a concoction that will give you boils instead! But I don't see why such a small mistake would end up completely reversing the effect of the potion! And the book doesn't explain why it is doing the things like that."
Timothy stops talking suddenly. Closing his eyes for a second, and taking another drink.
Idiot. Stop talking at people, she probably already know all this. Quick think of a question
"Sorry, I talk to much sometimes. Please just tell me to shut up. erm.. Have you got any spells that you want to learn? Apparently we'll learn to make things fly in charms."
Timothy starts cutting at a steak, and eating it. Partly because he was hungry but also because it will stop himself from talking this poor girls ear off again.

Reduciowith @Timothy DanielsLe jour de la distribution à Poudlard. When I answered him, I lowered my head to my food, thinking the conversation was over, but he spoke again and told me his name was Timothy and that he was delighted to meet me. Then he launched into a series of explanations. He told me that in first year, you didn't have a choice of subjects, and that the class he was most looking forward to was Potions. He said it was like a cooking recipe. Then he said that if you added a bad ingredient to a potion for boils—I have no idea what that is—the potion would cause them to appear. He suddenly fell silent and apologized, saying he was talking too much and that I could tell him so. He asked me which spell I would like to work on. My fork stopped mid-stride. I was off to a bad start; I didn't know any spells, not even potions or anything else. My hand began to tremble violently, but I managed to calm myself by looking at Mom's bracelet. I took a deep breath and, keeping my head down, said to her:
"I don't know any spells, I'm Muggle-born, I know nothing about the wizarding world."
I wasn't ashamed, no, I had no right to be, but I was afraid of his reaction, what he would say...
The Ravenclaw Table 2025-2026
Timothy listened carefully to the quiet girl to make sure he heard her correctly. He spotted the Trembling hand as she explained that she was muggle born. He smiled across at her.
"Oh so this is all new to you! To be fair its mostly new to me too I've only heard of the classes from my parents. My mum is a muggle born, and she said that she was really worried about being too far behind when she first started, but it turned out that she wasn't any worse off than everyone else in her year. She didn't feel like she was having to catch up at least. I don't know how to cast any spells either. Dad wouldn't let me practise at home says I'm not to use magic outside of school and there will be pleanty of time to learn when I get here. But I'm here now and I've read all the course books so I can't wait for lessons."
Timothy took a deep breath, hoping to gauge whether his words had helped ease Lili Blue’s nerves. As he did, he realised with a small sense of disassociation that his own nerves had eased in the process as well.
"As for the wizarding world, there isn't much to know that's different from the muggle world. We have a government, school. There are some families that have a lot of money and think that means they own everyone around them. Lots of jobs are the same too, we just use magic to do them. Like teachers or my mum is like a magical doctor, but we call them healers. If you have any questions or something you're not sure about you can always ask me. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask, that's just how you learn isn't it."
Timothy returned his attention to his meal. She seemed like the kind of girl who liked to mull over her thoughts before responding so he gave her all the time she needed while he helped himself to more mashed potatoes.

To my great surprise, he told me he understood, and that his mother had also been born to Muggle parents and had been afraid of not being able to catch up, but that it hadn't been a problem for her. He also told me that the wizarding world wasn't so different from the Muggle world; they had a government, and some very wealthy people, families, even believed they were superior to others. He told me that if I needed help, I shouldn't hesitate to ask him questions. Personally, I find it annoying to have to ask questions. I've always been cultured enough not to have to ask about things I didn't know or didn't understand. But here at Hogwarts, everything is different. I feel like a stranger in this world, and I don't know where to begin to find my bearings. I'm afraid that little by little, I'll get lost with all this new information. As I left home, my older brothers said they were jealous, but I would have gladly given up my spot. I preferred to be at home surrounded by my forest and my animals. I finally answered Timothy.
"Yes, of course, if I need help I won't hesitate to ask you."
I didn't know if what I'd just told her was the truth or a lie, but I'd try to make it the truth. I don't like talking to people, and even less asking them for help.
