Perhaps, it was chance that allowed Gellert to trek to the cave without the traps that befell the others. It definitely was not his skills. Instead, as he trekked towards the cave, he would be hit with an eerie quiet as he noticed the dark red lake that definitely was not meant to be the color of prunes, and, as an observant fellow, he would be the first to notice the same symbol that everyone else had been trapped by. While the others were etched into the plants and floors, Gellert would see the symbol painted onto stones the size of his palm. What would he do? Would he recognize the symbol?
Gellert successfully casts Protego, lucky for him, as out of nowhere, a spell of the color red hits the shield and bounces off his shield, cracking it slightly.

There is a moment in a man’s life where the instinct of flight or fight turns on, and there is nothing but the sudden reaction that erupts on instinct. Albrecht begins to fight against the black clothed intruder and manages to take off her mask. There is a moment of shock as he recognizes her, and he stops fighting. There is shock in his eyes, and his limbs freeze. She does not recognize him when she should, and he cannot bring himself to fight anymore, despite her choking him out. He falls unconscious and she carries him out using Wingardium Leviosa on him.

Blinking her tears away, she stood up, feeling dizzy for a few seconds because of how she had hit her head a few moments before. Holding her lit-up wand in front of her, Astrid tried looking around, searching for something that could help her get out of here.
Astrid’s casting happens successfully, and her broken arm is bandaged up, her quick thinking and casting keeping her alive for the moment. Her arm would still hurt, but she would continue to be aware and thinking and perhaps find a way out. As she searched around for a way out, Astrid would instead find herself staring at a plaque with the same symbol as she stepped on. The plaque would have an envelope with the same symbol as well. "Beware the screams in the night or else you might die. This creature will appear when the clock strikes five. Beware, or else you might die. What should I do to shield against the screams? Defeat this creature, and you might find what happened to your dear headmaster."

His careful observation of his surroundings was very beneficial, as without this, Arno would have walked right into a similar trap that his friend had been caught in. He carefully made it past a stick with the same strange symbol and made it down to where Boram was. He cast diffindo, but there was a moment where it looked like it would almost hit Boram instead of the branch but it made it past her barely and cut her off the tree.

Romeo finds himself tracking a scent, but it leads him back towards the castle. He finds himself in the inexplicable situation of seeing the headmaster being dragged by the intruder. The card had left the scent of whoever had created this situation. The intruder hears him and looks around, but does not know where he is.

As the intruder drags Emery along, Emery dreams of his husband and daughter, a nightmarish clash of good memories and the last moments of their lives. The girl has the same eye color as the intruder.

Her ears were turning a shy pink while her fingers hastily moved to the vine that kept her from kissing the ground, muttering, "просто сломайся... Just break..." A faint rustling caused her to stop and look around before curling up to reach the vine better, "ебать... ебать... fuck... fuck..." Whoever set up the stupid trap was still around.

Somewhere...

Sweat mixed with the blood that trickled from the cuts on her face, stinging with a grit of her teeth as soon as her elbow grazed her leg. Мне следовало взять с собой кинжал I should have brought my dagger, she would have been able to cut herself free. Boram wiped her ever-bleeding lip with her gloved hand and huffed, her nonexistent patience finally giving out, already thinking of how she expected to meet her end in some awesome way that could have involved a sword and a dragon or some stupid war she really had no care for.

But hanging from a fucking tree? Really?

Resigning to her pathetic demise, Boram sighed and uncurled as her arms dangled with her hair. The noises in the forest grew louder, and her breath hitched, "Was that you?" Great. The blood finally reached her brain and made her imagine Arno's voice. Well... if she was going, at least she had heard a familiar voice. Then the voice seemed to get closer, and she blinked.
Wait-

She grabbed a random branch before twisting to look around with wide eyes, "Arnie?... Arnie!? Please tell me I am not going mad..." There was no way she was losing her sanity... right? His voice was real, not her wishful thinking that had her skin tingling with the reminder of their threaded connection. She would damn the universe if she had simply imagined him before calling out, "Well, I am hanging from a stupid tree... but other than that I am alright, I suppose..." Nothing a healing potion could not fix.

As if already sensing his smirk at her predicament, she sighed and said in a softer tone, "No laughing... or I will attack you as soon as I free myself" That was if she managed to free herself from the dark forest's grasp. The wind swept her hair over her face, to which she muttered a threat about cutting her hair before brushing it out of her way; her dilated eyes barely registered the familiar figure that moved closer.

"Thank Merlin..." She had not lost her mind. A grin appeared along her face as she looked at Arno, as if completely forgetting she was still upside down, she said with the confidence of an idiot, "Fancy seeing you here... come here often?" Chuckling at her very stupid joke, she wiped some of the blood on her lip again, grimacing slightly at the taste of iron.

"I'm fine... I just need to get down..."

She felt trapped. As far as she knew, she was trapped. One arm broken and thankfully bandaged, in the dark except for the light of her wand, and no apparent way to get back to the surface. Astrid was pretty sure nobody could hear her from up there. She would have to find a way out herself. But it was fine, she couldn't die on school grounds, could she? Yeah, the girl definitely didn't want to find out.
As she looked around, she started wondering if she was cursed. Like, actually. Why was it that anytime there was some kind of thing happening, and she was participating in it, something more or less bad would happen to her? She had to change tent during the summer camp before her second year. A cursed doll attacked her during the Fall Ball of her second year. Drinks were spiked and she left before fights erupted during the Spring Ball of her third year. The fucking slugs the summer before fourth year. Death during her fourth year Fall Ball. And now her arm was broken, hurting bad. Her sister would say that Astrid had always looked for trouble. Yeah, sure, climbing a bit to high in trees, eating cookies that were still burning from the oven, staying in the icy ocean longer than her cousins. That kind of trouble, nothing too dangerous.
There was a plaque in front of her. There was a symbol on it — a weird circular pattern. There was an envelope on plaque, with the same symbol on it. Astrid held her wand in her mouth to have both hands free as she opened the envelope and read it's content. "Beware the screams in the night or else you might die." So she could die on school grounds, nice. "This creature will appear when the clock strikes five. Beware, or else you might die." She had left the castle a little after three. She probably still had a bit more than an hour before five. Nice. "What should I do to shield against the screams? Defeat this creature, and you might find what happened to your dear headmaster." Wait, what? Something happened to Albrecht? And she would have to wait until five in the morning, to defeat a creature that could apparently kill her pretty easily, so that she could perhaps find out what happened to the headmaster. Yeah, no she had to get out of here, she didn't trust this message, and her arm needed actual medical attention.

The three smells on top were much stronger, but as I ventured to approach Werewolf Cavern, the taste on my tongue of the last smell I couldn't quite place on the card blew back into me on the midnight breeze. The scent from that direction was stale, and instead it was leading back into the castle on a much fresher trail.

That seemed strange.

Pulling my cloak a bit tighter around myself, I turned back and returned to the indoors, following the intangible but present incense in the very air that in its sheer cold's preservation had not yet managed to disseminate it entirely. The trail eventually led back to our headmaster's office.

Stranger still.

But there wasn't to be much time to consider the possibilities as the fragrance increased in its intensity, as if there was the source right there before me. Backing away from the door, my feet scuffed the ground and I swore silently to myself before backing off even further than I would have liked and ducked behind a nearby alcove. Seconds counted by, and I considered peeking around the corner to see if I had drawn something out, but thought better of it for just a bit longer. Better safe than seen. When I was satisfied, I did peer about the corner, and my eyes immediately narrowed.

Two figures, one unconscious and handled with magic, the other escorting them. Considering that they had emerged from the Headmaster's office... I was willing to place bets that at least one of them was likely not supposed to be in this situation and that at least one of them had some sort of tie with Headmaster Albrecht... or was Headmaster Albrecht.

A strange note, an order to visit the caves, an unknown scent, and someone removing another person--possibly the Headmaster himself--from his own office. News articles were saying that SCARAB incidents were only heightening and intensifying, particularly in the British Isles. Who was to say that Durmstrang could very well now also be involved in this mess? Was this some way to plant some kind of seed in the north? An opportunity to produce scandal?

The bite and claw wounds that mottled my shoulder ached to themselves impatiently. It seemed that a curse the likes of this was becoming more and more dangerous to bear... perhaps, it could be argued, more dangerous to the cursed than to the ones around them. I was the only one in this school. I wanted it to stay that way if I could handle it--and make sure that at least I could give my own name a good reputation despite the... blight upon me.

I waited for a while, letting them gain some distance but never letting them leave my sightline entirely. If they did, even briefly, I now had the scent. There was nowhere for them to hide whether they liked it or not. And despite the letter being a good indication of where I presumed it likely that we would eventually go... red herrings were given credence for a reason. I couldn't act alone, necessarily. I had to find a moment if I was to act at all.

Perhaps it was true... that I was much more a predator than I thought I was previously...

Action: Maintain Stealth, Continue Tracking from a Distance in Scent Range
Held Action: If Romeo recognizes they are going to the Cavern, continue to track & follow; if they are diverting, he will break stealth and cast Vincio if the assailant is near trees/inanimate objects that can be affected by the spell.

Perhaps it was too long a night for Boram, as the circumstances worsen for her. There is something wrong with the picture she sees in front of her, but she does not recognize it so. Nabi is not meant to be here, but she sees her. It is an hallucination, but only Arno is there to tell her it is so. The problem is Boram is seeing Arno as Nabi, bruised, bleeding, mute.
Astrid is looking around for clues and though they are there, she finds none. Perhaps she should blame her concussion. If her brain was in full function, she would have seen this letter, placed in the same envelope as before, tucked away in between a seam in the rocky wall. The letter was desperate and surprisingly personal.
It would say: "Help! Help! I am being forced to do this. Help! I'm sorry, Dad."
Romeo senses that the intruder and Emery are headed somewhere different to the cavern. He breaks from his hiding place and takes out his wand and successfully casts Vinci on the trees surrounding her. The branches form a trap around the intruder, keeping them from leaving. Emery wakes up and surprisingly attempts to protect the intruder, desperately, almost instinctively, with his hands.
Arno in an attempt to find more clues casts both Revelio and Dissendium and they both are successfully cast. Revelio reveals a secret message written on a rock that says, "There's not enough time to exclaim, help me." Boram and Arno would have just enough time to read that message when the successful casting of Dissendium opens up a secret passage right beneath their feet. Unlike Astrid's experience, they are both gently taken down a slide to a secret room. It is filled with relics from Emery's time at Durmstrang, mementos, time capsules, and a moving picture where he is smiling, arms around another classmate's shoulders.
Gellert moves successfully into the cave where he does not recognize the symbols surrounding him, but he does wonder whether or not this has something to do with Albrecht's whimsical demeanor and mischievous smile earlier today.

At first I wanted to make sure that we were not travelling by an alternate route, but as we went and went, my internal compass told me we were indeed drifting off of the path that I was well-familiar with or that any potential side-trails could lead back to Werewolf Cavern by. Where it was exactly that we were going, I couldn't say but did not feel in the mood to discover lest it be directly into the jaws of a trap. If I was outnumbered, then I stood no chance, but if I had at least the element of surprise on my side, perhaps I stood a slight one.

A copse of trees was the perfect place to initiate an ambush, and with a quick snap of my hand through the air to guide a beech and dragon heartstring wand, a crisp demand of "Vincio." cut through the cold air and immediately acted upon the earth itself. Tree limbs gained the ability to grasp and snatch, forming a hollow that entrapped and stopped any immediate hope of escape. Perhaps in a few moments something would change that fact, but for the time being the stranger was contained. I rolled the wand in my fingers for a second, not turning it away from the stranger--even as Headmaster Albrecht seemed to suddenly come to and then interpose between my wand and his kidnapper.

I tightened my grip on the wand slightly, but did not act further. "Headmaster. Glad to see you're bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again." I could not help the fact that I felt my brows shadowing my gaze, that signature determined but irritated expression that gave the impression of darkness despite a strong desire in me to avoid any further troubles. "I take it there's some kind of explanation for all of this." What had started as an assumption that Werewolf Cave was going to be used for some unholy underclassmen amusement was waning fast in favor of the very real heightening belief that something more malicious was unfolding directly in front of me. "Because if not, sir, you have quite a few of us in quite a tizzy over something potentially happening at Werewolf Cavern."

I tried to get a better angle on his kidnapper, and despite noticing her sex I didn't quite let my guard down. The last time I had tangled with a hell-bent witch it had almost ended horribly for myself, Ginyami, and Valentin. I did not underestimate those sorts of people anymore, nor did I ever assume that I could not be confronting such a person like that face-to-face at any given moment. Gitano had ruined too much of my remaining faith in humanity to allow me to even consider that as being an option anymore. I licked my lips slightly, they were dry from the cold air and generally dry weather recently. I could smell the rot in the leaves. "And I don't suggest sudden movements, ma'am."

"Think Astrid. Think," she whispered to herself. What do you do when you're trapped underground, on school grounds, as a fifteen year old quidditch player with a broken arm? You don't do shit because that doesn't happen to the regular individual. The girl had read a lot of adventure books, she had heard stories, and she had even seen a few muggle movies. There could be a secret passage, a hidden door. The only source of light in the room was her wand, partially hidden by Astrid's hand, just in case. She could try to find the hypothetical hidden door by passing her hand on the stone walls, just like in the novels she had read when she was younger.
So that's what she did, wand in her left hand, the wall under her right, she tried pressing on each stone, trying to find a way out. Even if she knew that way out probably didn't exist, but it couldn't hurt to try. As she made her way across the wall, her hand caught on something. A seam. And tucked in it, another envelope. What was it with that night and envelopes, seriously? It was the same one as just before, with the weird circular pattern on it. Just as before, she opened it, wand between her teeth, and read the few words. "Help! Help! I am being forced to do this. Help! I'm sorry, Dad."
Dad? With her head still throbbing by her fall earlier, she couldn't determine if the note was signed "Dad" or addressed to the author's father. Who in Durmstrang had kids? Probably some of the staff and teachers. Thinking about the previous letter, she quietly asked herself "Does Albrecht have kids?" Feeling dizzy again, she sat on the floor and leaned against the stone wall. What the fuck was going on, and more importantly, how was she getting out of here?.

Perhaps it was the blood that had smoothed over every crevice of her brain, or the signs of a concussion after falling without grace. Like an enraged angel banished to roam without wings, left with only the echoes of what once was.

A groan would leave her, the floor cold beneath her fingertips as her nails scraped a rock held hostage by the soil.

There was a time she would have walked her pain off, stubborn to find a way to escape the tall stone that held her in circles. A rock would skitter as she stumbled up, "Дурацкие камни Stupid rocks" always getting in her way. The petrichor was thick, irony with a hint of something... sweet? Her eyes would squint as she looked up, swaying slightly as the uneven ground seemed to dip under her soles.

Sinking.

"Arno..." she was not feeling too well, something was wrong. The forest felt taller, too still for a living organism whose branches had been previously flirting with the wind. "Arno!" Why did she momentarily see the tall stone? Why the fuck was Arno not answering? Her head would turn at the sound of something crunching, her eyes wide as her breath hitched.

Stribog was not the only one with the moon and stars that night.

Boram blinked, squinting as she attempted to focus on the sight before her with a barely breathed whisper, "невозможно... impossible..." She was not supposed to be there. She couldn't be.

Wouldn't be.

Had she realized the sight was not real.

The silent pale light followed the calling of Stribog's spirit, unnatural against the looming dark that curtained over its glow, the "труп*" with rotted flesh of bruises, stared back at her, and Boram's heart sank.

Revered old blood was not meant to spill. "Наби! Nabi!" was not meant to break.

With the weight of the sinking pressure, Boram would trudge over, reaching out for a soul that was not there, imagined and out of reach. For she cared too much, of blood and loyalty, Nabi was the only family she had.

A sister of the same coin.

Her hands would reach, grabbing Nabi's shoulders, panicked with each drop of blood that echoed in the silence her cousin spoke. Boram's head would shake, Arno seemingly having found his voice, though it felt like an echo from somewhere in the forest, "Nabi! Who did this?! Why the fuck are you bleeding?!" Boram's wide eyes would look into the blank gaze of her cousin, rage bubbling as she shook her, "Come on, Nabi! This is not funny! I swear to Merlin, if you don't start talking..." Tears began to form, her jaw clenched as she looked at Nabi, "Why are you always so lifeless?!" Always watching from empty gray eyes, stuck in a labyrinth that even Boram would not venture.

She would cup her face as she mildly slapped Nabi's face, unaware she was hitting Arno as she continued to spiral with her voice cracking, beginning to cry, "This isn't fucking amusing, Nabi..."

Snuffling, she would look down with tensed shoulders before noticing a rock with a message faintly glowing beneath them, 'There's not enough time to explain, help me.'

Before sinking completely.

Boram's screams would echo, the earth having decided its hunger could no longer be withheld. Damned to a fate devoid of light, her armor scraped against a slide before her eyes squinted at the sudden sight of a room with various things around. Wiping her tears away, Boram made her way further inside, looking around as she muttered, "сокровище? Treasure?" or someone's dusty, unkept chambers.

Suddenly pausing, her eyes would widen, remembering.

She was not alone.
