Shae was in the owlery, finishing up writing a letter to her parents and sister. When she finished, she sent the letter off and stared out the window. She watched the owl fly away and continued staring until it was well out of her sight. Eventually, she sat down. She unfolded a letter that she had received from her family. With tears in her eyes, she reread it for probably about the millionth time. She slowly took in every word, her eyes and mind taking in every meaning. After a while, she folded up the letter and sobbed with her head in her hands. She knew there were people in the room, but at the moment, she didn't care. She didn't care if they knew she was homesick. She didn't care if they called her names over it. She didn't care if anyone had anything to say about the little first year crying in the owlery over a stupid letter from home.
She didn't care because she was homesick. She was crying over a stupid letter. Nothing in the letter held any real importance, but it still made Shae wish she were still at home playing with her sister and having fun with her family.

James held a small envelope in his hand as he climbed the stairs to the owlery. Reaching the top of the stairs, he strolled straight to the window, unaware of his surroundings, admiring the fresh scent of the air and the sound of the fluttering owls. Tying his letter to his owl, he sent it off, soaring into the bright sky and watched it till it was out of sight. James rested his arms on the windowsill, closing his eyes and letting the soft breeze blow lightly on his face. It was not until then that he noticed a sound coming from the corner of the room, his green eyes snapped open and he turned, glancing around the owlery until he spotted a girl who looked like she was sobbing, sitting in the far corner. I wonder what's the matter? James thought. He felt a pang of sympathy for the girl and walked over to her cautiously so that he didn't startle her. Her dark hair fell over her face and she was hugging her knees to her chest, as though afraid of letting go. James crouched down in front of her and placed a soft hand lightly onto the ravenclaw girls shoulder. He spoke softly to her, "Hey hey, are you okay?” He paused, wondering if she had heard him, “Dont worry everythings gonna be alright." She stopped sobbing, aware that someone was talking to her and looked up at him. Her eyes were deep blue, just like her house colour, James wondered. "Are you okay?" He asked again softly, he had a knack for being able to calm people down and comfort them, part of why he made a good hufflepuff. "You don't have to sit here alone. You can tell somebody" He tilted his head and looked at her. Smiling, he said " I know you have only just met me but i'm James. James Cadwell. What's your name?"

'Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong.'
