Dear Cass,
I was very excited to receive your letter yesterday. Thank you for the lovely drawing! I'm sure Miss Alethea is very proud of your work.
Everything I'm about to tell you is a big secret, okay? You can't tell your friends at school. You can only talk about it with mum, dad, Magnus, and Miss Alethea, okay?
Magic is very cool, and I would show you at home if it was allowed. Unfortunately, the wizard government doesn't like it when magic is used around regular people. They refer to you as Muggles, and there's a law saying wizards and witches shouldn't practice magic around Muggles. That's also why you can't tell anyone else but our family about where I am and what I do. So, this is our little secret. Remember what we do with each other's secrets?
If you happen to show magic abilities before you're 11, then you can come to Hogwarts with me! But you can't force it, okay? Magic is something that happens naturally.
I miss you, too. Good news! I'm coming back for Christmas, so I'll see you soon. Make sure to do well in school and not bother mummy and Miss Alethea too much before then, okay?

Dear (Aloe)Vera,
I was yet to expect your letter, but it brings me immense joy. Congratulations once again. I thank you for your kind words about my drawing.
Your trust in me is however deeply misplaced, Miss Alethea seems to despise all of my creations. Critiquing my art to be "too leaning towards Romanticism-Renaissance ideals" and lacking the "Chaotic discipline of Baroque".
I do not know what either of it means, she says it like an insult so I must believe it to be so. She has been in a foul mood since your departure, Mother too. Probably me as well.
Father has enrolled me in a "confidence-building" class ran by one of his exes. Unfortunately, everyone there is a pretentious prick with a mouth larger than their intelligence. I sit in the back and draw rather Baroquely; out of spite.
What are "regular people" and what is a "wizard government"? Do they hold elections? Can I run? I would be a sensational Prime Minister. First decree: Abolishment of mondays. Second? Pizza is the national food. Third decree: No law preventing you from showing me magic. Democracy at work.
You asked if I remember what we do with each other's secrets. Miss Alethea told me, we weaponize them. Therefore, when you visit for Christmas, you owe me money, PUNK.
Apologies for the aggression, school has been brutal. I am considering bringing a bat to this class. DO NOT tell mum or Dad, remember out rule about secrets.
You say I can't force magic, but in this movie I saw, people unlocked powers under extreme danger, perhaps if I orchestrate a life-threating situation, something irreversible, my magic will awaken before I'm eleven.
Very pleased to know you're coming home for Christmas. I expect treats.

Dear Cass,
That nickname is a first. Who helped you think of it?
Is Miss Alethea trying to teach you a specific style of art at the moment? I don't remember her being so strict about it before. Perhaps mother has asked her to do that, but I also doubt that. Despite my absence, I hope you are all well.
To be fair, baroque can be hectic depending on the artist. I wouldn't call it chaotic, however, as some would consider romanticism to be more like that. After all, that type of art is about the soul.
Confidence building is certainly a choice. Are you sure it was not just etiquette? I had to do those classes when I was your age; Magnus, too. Though, I imagine etiquette is different for boys than it is for girls. Maybe it really is confidence building. Can you tell me more about it? Even though you hate it. I am slightly curious.
I would like to argue that not everyone is a pretentious prick, though! You might just be describing your brother—don't tell Magnus I said that—but some of the neighbourhood kids are nice. Didn't you used to be friends with that kid down the road? I forgot his name, but you would be stuck to the hip whenever we would pick you up from preschool.
"Regular people" are like you and me, before I learned about magic, that is. I'm sure the wizard government holds elections, but I am unsure of their customs at the moment. I am fairly certain you are still too young to run for Prime Minister of the Wizard Government, but if you happen to display some magic and get into Hogwarts with me, perhaps you will be able to once you graduate. Your decrees are interesting. A few people may agree with you about Mondays, but I am not so sure about the rest. We shall see when you get that far.
We do not weaponize secrets. Something tells me Magnus wrote that part of the letter, because you would never call me punk nor would you ask for money. Do not bring a bat to class. Also, do not get yourself in a life-threatening accident. You can definitely expect some treats when I get back.
Stay safe. Don't give Miss Alethea or our mother a heart attack.
