Yexian was in her room, sitting on the edge of her window and reading a book. She suddenly saw a snowy white owl holding a letter and flapping its wings. She closed the book and put it aside. She then opened the window door and the owl came right in. Yexian held the letter and tilted her head. She opened the letter and started reading. Of course, being a pureblood, she knew she was at some point going to receive her Hogwarts letter. She looked at the owl, gently passed her index finger over its nose and went downstairs, leaving her window door open in case the owl wanted to leave. She went to the living room to find everyone talking to each other while drinking tea. She bowed and said with a low voice, “I received my Hogwarts letter..” “Congrats dear! Unfortunately it's very late now, we can't go out to buy your things, and we are tired from work today” her father said. Her mother continued “We know how much you like to get things done immediately but since its already past 10 pm, I believe its better if we go tomorrow. This way we’ll have an entire day, not just a few hours, and we have a weekend so we can take you earlier!” Yexian nodded, folded the paper and put it back in its envelope. “Why did it arrive this late? Did they forget about you?” her aunt, Yilin, said mockingly. Yexian didn’t like this lady. She never enjoyed being around her. The reason is pretty obvious; she keeps talking to her or about her mockingly. Yilin never actually liked Yexian and was jealous of the amount of attention she got for literally no reason. The family eyed her but didn’t say anything. Yexian however, didn’t look at her, she was looking at her parents and with unchanged expression she calmly said “Then Ill be ready by 10 am tomorrow.. good night” then she bowed and left to her room, clearly ignoring her aunt. She went to her room, read the book until she fell asleep.

The next day, Yexian woke up at 5 am and did her routine, she took out the book she was reading and continued where she left off. Since it is weekend, both her and her brother don’t have classes so she didn’t have to wake him up early this time. After a few hours, she looked at the time “Its 8 am, better start getting ready..” she thought while putting her book back on the bookshelf. After a cold shower, she dried herself and dressed up. She added a black belt and some simple black rings. She combed her hair and tied the upper part of it in a ponytail using a ribbon of the same colour as the t-shirt. Then she went downstairs and ate her breakfast alone, “Still 9 huh..” she thought and decided to go for a short stroll in the open greenery to wait for her parents and brother. “No good morning for your grandma dear?” Yexian heard her grandmother’s voice, she looked at her and saw that only she and her grandfather were awake. She bowed “Good morning..” They replied to her with a smile on their faces, Yexian knew her grandfather was acting, wasn’t he embarrassing her parents yesterday? Yet she played his game better and acted like the kid who didn’t know anything about the family. “Ahaha, look who it is! Our lovely, PERFECT Yexian” another voice said. Yexian recognised it, that was her annoying aunt. The difference between her aunt and her grandpa is one is acting while the other is directly/indirectly mocking. “How disrespectful of you to not look at your aunt when she talks! Don’t you have manners?” she continued in her sarcastic and mocking tone. Yexian didn’t turn to her, her expression remained unchanged, to lighten up the mood, her grandma looked at Yexian once again “Why are you dressed up dear? Are you going somewhere?” Yexian nodded “Why don’t you ever reply to your elders?? Your grandmother is talking to you, you have to reply with words!!” her aunt said, Yexian once again didn’t look at her but she did notice her grandfather’s expression changing in a way that looks like he agrees with her aunt. To prevent talking more, she simply bowed, ignoring her aunt for the nth time and acting as if she didn’t see her grandfather’s expression, then she went out of the mansion and without thinking about it. She took a stroll until she heard her brother’s voice “Sissy! Are you readyyy?” he asked excitedly, as Yexian barely goes out with them. Yexian nodded and bowed to her parents, her father patted her hair and they all went together to Diagon Alley.

Once they reached the famous Diagon Alley, her parents were revisiting their old memories. She was looking around, scanning every shop while trying to avoid people’s touches. They walked around for a while, ticking off every item listed in the owl that was sent to her. By then, Yexian was overwhelmed with the number of people; there were just so many that it impacted on her breathing. To escape that, she said with a low voice, loud enough for her parents to hear “Can I go there?” while pointing at a shop that looks quiet and has fewer people. After her parents confirmed, she went there and opened the door. The sound of the bell hanging on the door didn’t really annoy her, it felt welcoming. She was amazed by the number of pets there, so she decided she would go slowly and look at everything there. Starting off with the cats, there were many different breeds; however Yexian didn’t really feel interested, yes she did like animals but she was sure she read about more interesting cats. She continued walking and suddenly heard low hiss sounds, she turned to the side of the sound and stood there appreciating the beauty of these snakes. However, she decided to continue walking because even though she saw several snakes in the forest behind her mansion and really wanted to adopt one, she still wouldn’t want to take it to her first year. Skipping the toads, rats and spiders, she saw cute little ferrets. She stood there in awe, these creatures were just too adorable, they reminded her of her favourite ‘villain’ in Hogwarts’ most famous war. Shen then moved on to the fluffy animals, the owls, they were breathtaking, especially the snow white ones. She really wanted to get the owl, however it was too big for her, she wanted a smaller size, so she moved on to the last part of the shop. Bunnies. Oh how Yexian adores them. She kneeled down to see a baby bunny in a cage with other bunnies of different sizes. She gently touched its nose and by that touch, she felt something she never felt before. The feeling of attachment. She really wanted that bunny, even if it means losing whatever. Did she know the bunny age or date of birth? No. All she knew was that it is a Mist Hopper, a black mist hopper. The colour she loves on the pet she got attached to, what a combo! As soon as she heard her parents’ voices saying her name, she stood up, went to them and held her mother’s hand, taking them all to the bunny. “I want this..” Her parents felt happy. She finally say the word ‘want’, so, they gladly accepted and bought it for her. It took a while to pay as they were revisting their memories again and sharing a small talk with the shop’s owner. As they were elder people, Yexian bowed to show respect and immediately looked at the bunny “What do I name you little one?” as soon as she thought that, the elder couples asked her what she wanted to name it. When Yexian knew it’s a male bunny, she suddenly said “Yuexian.” her parents smiled “Why did you choose this name dear?” her father asked. “Yexian, Yuexian, Xian, A’Xian” she replied with these 4 words and what she meant by them was that the name is similar to hers and they both will have the same English and Chinese nicknames. Her mother nodded, smiled to the elders and left the shop after taking one ‘last’ look. And with that, they were done with the shopping for the day.

Yexian means night immortal and Yuexian means moon immortal
