The day that Leo has been impatiently waiting for has finally come! That's right, today is September first, meaning it's time for Leo to start his first year at Hogwarts, and he doesn't have to go and drop off his sister, Annabeth, who's entering her fifth year at the school. This year, Leo too will be joining his sister on the Hogwarts Express.

Arriving at the platform, after his sister, Leo ran through the wall between platforms nine and ten with his trunk, allowing himself to be transported to the secret platform. Like every year, Leo looked at the big scarlet train in awe, but this year, there was another feeling mixed in. Was that excitement or nervousness, or both? The young dhampiar couldn't quite figure it out.

After saying goodbye to his parents and promising to send them monthly letters, Leo went to board the train with his sister. Leo was hoping Annabeth would want to sit with him, but then they got separated, so he went into an empty compartment and sat down near the window. Leo knew that he'd be able to see his sister at Hogwarts, so he wasn't worried about being separated from her. Leo left his compartment door slightly open, letting anyone know that they could join him if they wished to do so.

Sophie looked up at the enormous train at platform 9 3/4 with mixed feelings. She was really looking forward to it, yes, but saying goodbye to her mother was painful. For a brief second, a flicker of sadness crossed her mind — the image of her mother waving goodbye, a small, tight smile on her face, trying not to cry. Sophie shook it off immediately. She hated leaving her mother behind, especially after Sophie's father had died a few months ago. She told herself she was excited, even though a small part of her still felt hollow. Sophie tried to put that thought out of her mind. She was going to Hogwarts! Sophie took a deep breath and stepped onto the train.

She walked through the train. Young witches and wizards were everywhere, and excitement coursed through her. She tried to stop a girl about her age. “Hey, I'm...” she tried to introduce herself, but the girl gave her an angry look and Sophie kept her mouth shut. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment, but she quickly shook it off. No, she wouldn’t let that stop her. There had to be someone nice on this train — she just had to find them.

As she continued walking through the train, looking for a suitable place to sit, she passed an almost empty compartment. The door was still open, and inside sat a boy with dark hair and curious eyes. He looked about her age — maybe just as nervous as she was. She decided to take a chance -maybe she could make a friend?- and walked into the compartment. “Hey!” she said. “Do you mind if I sit with you?” She didn't wait for his answer and sat down in front of him. This train is huge, isn’t it? “I'm Sophie. And you? Are you also in your first year?”

Leo looked up at the door when he heard it slide further open, and he smiled at the girl who was around her age. Leo nodded his head when she asked if she could join him, since she had already entered the compartment before he could speak. Leo didn't mind, though. He was open to people joining him, especially on his first journey to Hogwarts.

"Hey Sophie! I'm Leo. Nice to meet you. Yeah, I'm also a first year, but my older sister attends Hogwarts. She's entering her fifth year, though." Leo says, smiling at the girl whom he assumed was also a first year like himself.

He wasn't going to ask her the basic questions that other purebloods would ask, because he didn't care about her blood status. He was a pureblood, but he was also a dhampiar, which, in a sense, makes him a half-breed. Leo then looked out the window and waved at his parents before the train began to move. He prayed that there wouldn't be any sun beating in from the window, so then he wouldn't have to try and hide the fact that he's a dhampiar. His skin was already pale as it is. Leo didn't usually care about what people thought of him, but after hearing stories from his biological mother about how vampires are treated, Leo was worried about how he'd be treated at the school.

Sophie’s face lit up when Leo said he was also a first-year. Maybe this boy could become my friend. Lucky me — I won’t have to go to this school all by myself.
“Oh, really? That’s great! I mean, that you’re a first-year too! Then we can discover everything together. I can’t wait to see the school. Do you think it’s big? Are there only wizards and witches, or other people too?” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and shook her head, trying to calm the flutter in her chest. God, Sophie, breathe. But it was impossible to stop smiling — this was Hogwarts they were talking about! She still couldn’t quite believe she was a witch.

All the questions she had been holding in her head — about Hogwarts, the lessons, the students — now had someone to ask. Her words tumbled out in a rush. “I bet you already know a lot — your sister’s in fifth year! Does she ever tell you what it’s like there? And the classes — are they hard? Oh, I really hope we get to learn spells right away. Because that’s what witches do, right? Imagine turning rats into teacups on your first day!” She laughed, shaking her head at her own excitement and bouncing slightly in her seat.

Then her eyes flicked to him, and she noticed how pale he looked in the sunlight streaming through the window. Not ghostly, but enough to make her tilt her head. Maybe he’s just nervous, like me. Or maybe he doesn’t feel good…

“Are you okay?” she asked, leaning forward slightly. “You look a little pale — are you feeling sick? I mean, it’s a long train ride, and I get dizzy sometimes too.” She smiled softly. Be a friend who stays, who helps, who listens. Those who take good care of others will never truly be alone, her mother had said before she left. Sophie straightened a little, determination bright in her chest. She would follow that advice.

Leo had to think about it before he could answer Sophie's question. He was a pure-blood wizard, but also half a vampire. He wondered if he should tell her what his older sister had told him. He decided to just tell Sophie the truth, so she can know exactly what she'll be getting at when she attends the school.

"Ok, so, my older sister, well, actually half-sister, she told me that Hogwarts is full of witches, wizards, and wixes. However, some students have special talents and abilities, so you may encounter a seer, half-veela, dhampiar, etc. But there are mostly humans at the school, so no need to worry." Leo said, hoping he made any sense to Sophie.

Leo smiled at Sophie. He knew immediately that she was excited and was probably a Muggle-born, so he was more determined to tell her everything he knew. Once she finished asking her next question, Leo thought about it for a bit before answering,
"The classes are average, I guess. My sister never said whether they're too hard or too easy, but she did say that the professors can certainly help out a lot. So, if you're not understanding anything, her tip is to ask your professor or an older student. But I don't think we'll turn rats into teacups yet. I think that's more advanced magic. But my sister did say that on the first day, it's like an introduction to the course."

However, when Sophie noticed how pale he was, his smile faltered and vanished. "Great, she noticed." Leo thought. "Now what do I tell her? Surely, I can't tell her I'm a dhampiar." Leo thought again. He sighed before shaking his head and saying,
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm not sick. I guess the train ride is affecting me."

Sophie’s eyes widened as Leo started talking. Half-veela? Dhampir? That’s a half-vampire, she realized, and her stomach did a tiny flip. She remembered the bedtime stories her dad used to read her — red-eyed monsters that drained the blood of anyone they could catch. Back then, she’d always giggled and pretended to be brave, hiding under the blankets when it got too scary.
But now, thinking of her dad made something twist painfully in her chest. Stop it, Sophie. Not here, she told herself quickly, forcing the ache back down.
Her mouth opened, then closed, then opened again, and finally she said:“Leo, are—um—those half-vampire or Veela people dangerous? I mean, my dad always read stories where they hurt people.”Her voice trailed off, cheeks flushing. What if they’re friendly? And why am I talking like a four-year-old who’s scared of everything? She gave a small, awkward laugh. “Sorry, that’s probably a stupid question. I just—well, I don’t really know what’s true and what’s just, you know, bedtime stories.”

Then she noticed Leo’s smile had faded. Did I say something wrong? Her excitement about Hogwarts tangled with a strange mix of guilt and worry. He looked down for a moment too long before saying he was fine, and Sophie caught the way he avoided her eyes. He’s lying. She tilted her head slightly, but didn’t press. If he wants to tell me, he will.

Hearing Sophie ask if dhampiar's or half-veela are dangerous, Leo glanced at her and offered her a reassuring smile. He knew that what he was about to say next would literally have him reveal to her that he's a dhampiar. But there was something about Sophie that made Leo trust her. Plus, he did admit that he was fine a tad bit too late, which obviously anyone would assume that he was lying, and he partially was. The train ride wasn't affecting him; he was just born really pale.

"Sophie, believe me, they aren't dangerous. And if they are or act like it, they don't mean to be dangerous. Take me, for example. I'm really pale, right? Well, I was born like this. Y'see, my mom is a vampire, and my dad is a pureblood wizard, and I was born, so I'm a dhampiar. But that doesn't mean that I'm dangerous. It just means that I'm different, and that people might discriminate against me if I come clean to everyone I see. You're the only other person besides my half-sister who knows of me being a dhampiar." Leo explained, keeping his reassuring smile as he told her the truth of himself. Leo had absolutely no clue how Sophie would react, but he just hoped he wouldn't lose a potential friend over the truth of what he truly is.

I feel like I've been sitting in the cabin for so long I couldn't stay still any longer ; I was bursting with energy. I got up, stepped out of the train compartment, and overheard a conversationi overherad since sophie said 'Are you oke ...'.Interested, I listen to the rest of the discussion After he said 'I am a dhampir'I felt compelled to join in, not out of disrespect, but because of the look on hun faces… so i spoke. "He's right, vampires aren't dangerous, just different. I'm not a vampire, just a witch, but my aunt is an expert on mythical creatures, so vampires… I even know one who's really nice. Don't worry, I was just passing through, and your secret is safe with me.'I wanted to be friends with him and see his white skin. I remember I had some cream'.And I have a cream to prevent the skin from looking too white ; I can give it to you if you want Don't worry, I still have a spare one."I took a breath, about to say something, but ultimately decided to just smile, so as not to overdo it. , so i waited for their reaction.I was a little embarrassed by the way I told them, but maybe they won't mind. At least i told them, and hoped that the girl won't be afraid of him anymore. A vampire doesn't just tell anyone, "I'm a vampire." I knew that all too well thanks to my vampire friend, but the girl trusted me; she knew i wouldn't tell anyone and that i wouldn't make fun of her when she say: "I'm a vampire." She was right, like a true friend, I kept it a secret, so maybe... the girl had the right to know,... thought he.My thoughts were about to stop when i saw the sun beginning to break through, My hand was almost white, but after quickly and discreetly applying some cream, my hand looked normal again.
