With all the activities and events, all the studying and classes, Leo was excited to spend some free time doing something relaxing and fun for him, art. He had seen a classroom that had some art supplies in it and decided to go and use one of the easels to paint, although he wasn’t sure what he would paint just yet. After lunch, Leo went back to his dorm room to change into some clothes he wouldn’t mind getting dirty, an old grey sweater, a pair of blue jeans and an older pair of sneakers, pulling on a black beanie hat over his hair. Once he was ready, he left the dorms and started heading through the halls to the classroom he had discovered.

As he arrived at the room, he creaked open the door and peaked his head inside to see if anyone was there. No one. Pleased to see the empty room, he went in and quickly shut the door behind him. He wondered if many students used the art supplies here and if anyone would end up coming by while he was there. He grabbed one of the easels that was off to the side and pulled it out to sit it by one of the windows so he could have a nice view while he painted, maybe it would inspire him. Next he pulled a chair over and then went to grab the paints and brushes. He picked out different colors and types of brushes since he wasn’t sure what he would need, placing them on a chair and pulling that up beside the other.

Once he was sure he had all the supplies necessary, he took his seat and stared ahead at the blank canvas. A blank page was always scary at first when he started any piece of art. He glanced out the window, seeing how the trees had all changed colors and were starting to lose their leaves with the fall weather. Perfect. With his inspiration in sight, he picked up one of the brushes and dipped it into the orange paint. He let the brush glide on the canvas as he started to outline the tops of a couple trees, filling it in with leaves.

Leo had truly always loved the fall season. The weather was practically perfect in his eyes as it was cool, and comfortable for wearing comfy sweaters and sweatshirts. Who didn’t love the trees in fall when they began changing like this? And when they began to fall and make little leaf piles to jump and play in, always a favorite thing of his as he grew up. He did a few orange trees before cleaning off the brush and starting on a few red trees next.

Leo was happy he decided to come here and paint today, it really was one of his favorite hobbies, even if he hid it from his family outside of his grandmother. His inner creativity really was able to run wild whenever he drew or painted or anything artsy he could get his hands on. It was something he had to thank his grandmother and grandfather on his mother’s side for. Many times when they would watch him when he was younger they would spend time doing different activities he didn’t do at home, including his most favorite drawing. Going out in his grandparents backyard and watching his grandmother draw was what made him want to pick it up as well. Now he couldn’t imagine how he would get through life without this little hobby he seemed to have a natural talent for even at his age. Maybe I can take this home to gift to her when I go back for the next weekend break. He thought and let his mind wander as he let the brush move freely in his hand.

-------Ellie was tired from her broom race earlier and all the craziness of Hogwarts being back in session had finally eased out, leaving Ellie with a load of schoolwork and the thoughts of her Grandmother returned, like a cloud above her head. But, Ellie had found that walking through the halls and looking at different things helped to get her mind off it. Each day she had done this, she had walked to a different floor of the castle, starting top to bottom. On these walks, she would notice things she's never noticed before, what rooms were always busy, the most popular rooms that people stayed in. Today, she happened to be on the second floor.

-------The second floor, didn't have much from what she knew of, the study room, a random corridor, the empty abandoned toilets (due to moaning Myrtle she presumed) and the empty classroom that she didn't really know what happened in there. She had seen kids hang out, study, and host clubs. Ellie didn't really know nor did she really hang out on that floor.

-------Ellie walked across the floor, looking at the pictures, and the pictures stared back at her, some waved but most just watched her as she walked. She made it to the empty class and looked in. Today, there was someone there, by himself, painting. He had a canvas and a full palette of colors next to him. Ellie watched him as he carefully made deliberate strokes in the colors of fall. She couldn't help but notice the way he angled his paintbrush, getting perfect streaks of the orange he was using. She stepped closer to get a better view at what he was painting. Trees. The color of the leaves outside right now (Orange).

-------"Hey." Ellie said to the boy, "Your painting is really pretty so far! Can I join you?"

-------Painting seems to Ellie to be the perfect way to distract herself, and take her mind off everything, and bonus: make something beautiful. She had always enjoyed a variety of different crafts and found them relaxing, if somewhat difficult at times. Painting at the present moment, was perfect, if this boy didn't mind her joining him.

The peaceful quiet of the room gave Leo plenty of space to think and freely paint. No distractions or people gave him comfort he could paint whatever and not worry. He continued to paint the scenery, getting the basic outline laid out before he would go into detail afterward. With the trees added, he moved on to the sky behind it. He cleaned off the brush before going and dipping the end into the light blue paint. He gently brushed across the area meant for the sky, careful to go around the trees but he would finish the edges of the trees around the sky later.

As he was so lost in thought while painting, he didn’t even hear the door open and close. So he hadn’t noticed the girl come up beside him until he heard her speak causing him to nearly jumped out of his seat. He turned to look at her, giving a small nod at the compliment. “Oh- Thank you. I don’t usually paint, mostly just draw or sketch, so I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.” He faced the canvas again as he spoke, looking it over again. There was plenty to be improved upon but there was still plenty of time to work on it. He glanced back over to the girl and nodded again, “Sure, I don’t mind.” Leo offered a small smile to the girl before turning back to his painting. He dipped the brush into some white paint, adding in some cloud details to the sky background. It was slowly coming together so he hoped when it was done it would be good enough to give his grandmother. His mind wandered over to the girl that had joined him, curious to what she was going to work on. “Did you have something in mind to paint?” He asked, glancing over at her to see what she was doing.

-------The room was peaceful, still and quiet so when Ellie spoke, breaking peaceful silence in the room, it made sense that the boy looked startled. But he still responded to her, to which Ellie nodded, "I'm sorry if I startled you by the way. Well for someone who doesn't normally paint, I would say your painting is looking pretty good." Ellie smiled smally.

-------She sat down at a table and grabbed a white canvas, all of which where sitting in a pile by the desks. Conveniently these items where already there so Ellie wondered as too what use this empty classroom normally had, or maybe the boy had brought everything.

-------What should I paint? Ellie wondered, most of her painting ideas came from spur of the moment ideas. Then she thought about why she had come up here is the first place, the clear her head of the thoughts of her grandmother. Suddenly she had an idea, small idea yes, but still an idea. "Hm, I have a small idea I guess although I'm not sure it would work." Drawing or painting realistic people wheren't really her thing, but this was something she felt a pull towards doing. "I want to try doing a family portrait of my dads side with all my cousins. And my grandma at the center of it all. She thought. A picture so they could all be together one last time.

-------She flipped the canvas horizontally then started by painting the canvas background a blue-ish gray then wait for that to dry a little before painting a stool in the center for her grandma to sit on. Now for the people, what would be the most challenging part considering the large number of family members she had. Yet she started with her Grandma in the center.

-------The peace and quiet of the room with just her and this boy painting and the sound of paint brushes made the room feel comfortable and perfectly relaxing. What a way to spend the day.
