An Untimely Surprise
@Selim Faust
Selim hadn't visited the dormitory for days. He hadn't even really been in the Common Room to read at night as he usually did. Jack was beginning to wonder if he had somehow scared the snake off for good, but he couldn't think of how. Not even his PTSD episodes had made him avoid his dorm mate this much.
After a little while of thinking on it, Jack remembered Selim going on about how he feared his fans back home and how he'd had to go to extreme lengths just to hide from them. That was when the redhead began to associate Selim's disappearance with the time of year. Talk about an ego. Just how much did he think other students would obsess over him if he didn't keep out of sight? If he was really that worried, couldn't he have just carried around some protection like Jack did with the card he bought off that shady Ravenclaw?
He had two now thanks to a certain thoughtful Gryffindor second-year, both still safely tucked away in their envelopes in the pockets of his robes. It was a little awkward carrying things that could have been more powerful than he knew what to expect and Jack felt a little anxious, but also somehow safer. He just hoped there would be no reason for him to use them. Was this what carrying guns around was like in the muggle world?
At first, Jack had just wanted to talk to him to Selim to ask for a favor or two in return for the ones he had given the other boy previously. However, he searched and searched more without any luck, he actually started to worry about the snake. Along with being his dorm mate, he was his contractual partner. Normally Jack might have trusted the other boy to take care of himself okay, but after a couple of heavy incidents - one of which almost ended their other dorm mate's life - he wasn't so sure anymore. If Selim had another PTSD episode, who would be able to know what to do or how to talk him out of it other than Jack? The redhead doubted the private Slytherin would have wanted too many other people to know about his issues and had thus probably kept them to himself. Jack had to find him - for everyone's sake.
Eventually, he got so worried thinking about what might have happened to Selim or what could potentially happen that he began asking around if anyone had a map - one of those enchanted maps that could show the whereabouts of anyone in the school. Surely Selim still had to be in the school, right? Jack dearly hoped so, or he was out of luck. After a good deal of embarrassing requests to borrow a map, one of the second year Slytherins, Dale Kurt, finally offered to lend his to him. Jack thanked him with much enthusiasm, offering a favor in return. It annoyed him a little to think that his concern for Selim had caused him so much trouble, especially when he now owed a favor after simply wanting to cash in a favor of his own, but what else could he do? He was desperate.
With the help of the borrowed map, Jack discovered Selim taking refuge in an unlabeled classroom that hadn't seemed to have been used in a long time. The redhead made his way there to find a pretty decent hideout. There were some recent signs of use near the door, but Jack only saw them because he knew what to look for and that Selim had been there recently. Otherwise, he probably would have walked right by the ancient-looking door like so many others in the ridiculously large castle.
As he had returned the map as soon as he'd taken note of Selim's location on it, Jack only knew that the classroom was the last place he had seen him. There was no way to be sure that the other boy was still there or if he had moved in the time it had taken his dorm mate to track down the place. The redheaded Slytherin was wary of opening the door. Knowing Selim, the snake probably had any number of tricks up his sleeve - from booby traps to an ambush. What could Jack do to avoid those?
All at once, an idea came to him. Perhaps it was partially born from the frustration caused by the difficulty it had taken Jack to find him; maybe partially from his irritation that his dorm mate seemed to be behaving so foolishly for such silly reasons without taking other, more serious factors into account. Whatever the case, the Slytherin first year was prompted to take one of the pink envelopes from his pocket.
As quickly as he could manage, Jack tore open the envelope, got down on a knee, and slid the newly unleashed card under the closed door into the classroom as if it were a smoke bomb. If Selim wasn't going to come out, Jack would just have to make him.

An Untimely Surprise
@Jack Burnett & All the Other Peasants Watching.
___ ___ ___
Selim stared at the envelope that slid under the door with a suspicious look, putting down his tome that he had been studying for the past while.
He was sitting in what he called his 'camping spot'. Around him were clothes, stacked jars of apple cider, knives (Like combat, throwing, kunai-) and a poison kit (Brought to him via owl from his family). A few bento boxes of sushi sat against the wall, largely kept cool by the cold stone, beside them were stacks of books and loose papers, along with a brush and a few closed inkwells. Some homework sat finished on one of the dusty, upturned desks. The only other things in the room were a blank chalkboard, and now, the envelope.
Calmly, he pulled out a knife, stalking towards the card with a calculating gaze. Examining the envelope, he saw there was a small tear on the side from scraping against the door. His eyes narrowed as he saw pink revealed, and he shivered in disgust.
Then the smell hit him and his knife clattered to the ground.
He didn't know what it was, but it smelt like soy sauce had been dumped on the thing. He gagged, stumbling back, disoriented. Walking back towards his camping spot, he rested his hand against the cold stone wall, leaning on it.
His eyes were clenched closed, and when the disorientation faded he opened them. They landed on the sushi he had stolen from the kitchen.
He felt a strong urge to hug that sushi. He was able to restrain himself for a few moments, but couldn't resist the impulse. So he walked over, in a daze, grabbed the bento box of sushi, and hugged it.... then he began to eat the sushi.
So, while in his potion-induced haze, he ended up hunched in the corner of the room, lovingly holding his bento box of sushi, and eating them with a small smile more fitting for his age then his stiff polite one.
He really loved sushi... like a lot. He never realized how much he adored sushi. He just wanted to hug it, and eat it (but with love).
Sushi~
Sushi~
Sushi~
Sushi~!
He never realized, how adorable sushi looked. Like little balls of deliciousness wrapped in tiny rice blankets. How is that not adorable? Whoever thinks that isn't adorable will face the consequences. They are nothing but idiotic bags of flesh that will wither away and die painfully, screaming for help, any help, but they would get none! The all mighty sushi will smite them off the face of the earth!
A small part of him knew this was ridiculously illogical. Sushi was food, good food, admittedly, but not something you caress lovingly in the corner of a dusty abandoned room. That small part knew that this was simply the effects of low-level love potion residue on a Valentine card, something often sold around February. It also knew, though, that he'd have to suffer through this ridiculousness until the day ended.... uhg.
On the outside of the room, there would be no sound heard from inside it after the quiet gags and the sound of the knife falling to the stone floor.

An Untimely Surprise
@Selim Faust
"...Fangs?"
At first, Jack was quite proud of himself for his idea to teach Selim a 'lesson', but the more time that passed, the more he began to doubt whether or not it had been a smart one. He wondered if maybe Selim had managed to somehow avoid the trap, but the sound of something metallic clattering to the floor quickly alarmed him into action. Selim wasn't coming out. What if he hurt himself? What if the card had somehow triggered another episode of his?
Darting for the door, he turned the knob, thinking that if he was the first person his dorm mate saw after being affected by the card, it would only serve him right. After all, he made his bed, so he had to sleep in it and be responsible for the consequences. Once Jack finally opened the abandoned classroom door, however, he realized that responsibility and those consequences weren't exactly what he'd had in mind. His jaw dropped in astonishment. Was that...sushi?
"F-fangs?! Wh-what are you...how - why?!"
The raven-haired Slytherin was in a corner of the room happily smiling and curled up with a box of sushi. It might have been cute if the expression hadn't been so bizarre on the snake. Was this the effect of that stupid Valentine's Day card? It was so strong it not only worked on making someone infatuated with the first person they saw, but the very first thing they saw - living and animate or not?
Closing his mouth, Jack cautiously attempted to approach his housemate. "Uh...um...Fangs? Are yooou....feeling...okay?" He crouched down beside the other boy, curiously eyeing the bento box. Well...he supposed there could have been worse things that Selim could have fallen in love with. The redhead glanced around the room with some unease as he recognized not only various kinds of knives, but what looked like poison darts or something along with Selim's other various belongings. Yes...it could have been much worse indeed. Especially if the snake loved his sushi so much that he was willing to 'eat it with love'.

An Untimely Surprise
@Jack Burnett
___ ___ ___
Selim would probably be better grasp what was happening to him after the potion wore off. At first, he may have seen the state he was in as nothing more the a mild annoyance... afterwards he would have realised just what being in that state meant.
His mind had been forcefully focused on one object. No longer was he fully aware of his surroundings, no longer could he protect himself, because all he had wanted to do, was hug that sushi, and eat it.
Nothing else would make him change his mind about those two simple actions. His random burst of affection was drowning out all logic and reason. If he was hypothetically attacked, then he wouldn't pick up a blade and defend himself, no, he was more likely to throw himself in front of his fucking sushi, and protect it from whatever would cause it damage.
His self-preservation had been thrown to the wind, he only cared about that sushi, he didn't want it to come to harm (Other then his own eating of it), and instinctual sense of keeping himself alive was gone.
Ironically, that was something his dormmate seemed to respect... self preservation.
Yet he had forcefully taken that away from Selim.
He was now vulnerable, horribly so, and if his mind wasn't in the haze of idiotic euphoria it was now, he would probably be terrified.
Because while he had recently been in a similar state pf vulnerability with no repercussions other then the shattering of his masks and the shaking of his foundations, he still was terrified of being vulnerable.
Because, at one point in his life, vulnerability was the cause of something horrible that now haunted him.
Right then, he was left defenseless, his intelligence had been dulled to the point of stupidity, because what else would you cause illogical adoration of a food product other then that? Stupidity.
He was like a spider without poison or stingers, weak, and easy to kill.
Yes, this is what would've been running through his mind if he wasn't muddled with a love potion. And one thing would've risen up to the forefront of his mind when his dormmate walked into the room, had this not been the case
Betrayal.
His dormmate may have been thinking that this was a way to teach Selim a lesson. Sadly, he wouldn't know that the best way to 'teach him a lesson', was to sit with him, talk about it, and point out what he had done wrong, and why it was wrong. The boy may then ask questions, challenge the points brought up, but he would most likely not do it again.
It was just how his brain worked. His sense of morality was vague. His clansmen hadn't taught him basic human morality, what was right and what was wrong. They had only taught him what their rights and wrongs were, and even those were very... ambiguous.
Things like this love potion stunt? They would only make him wary, paranoid, and bitter. He would learn nothing from this event, other then the fact that he couldn't trust his dormmate. It would only force him away.
Alas, all of that would only come later, after the potion wore off. It would all slam into Selim, and reverse any changes that had been made over the course of his time at Hogwarts. Perhaps even make him worse off then he had been when he first started his school year.
For now, he simply stared up at the redhead with a dumb, childish smile on his face.
The part of him that had been aware of what was happening was gone, taken over by the pink mist that filled his brain.
"F-fangs?! Wh-what are you...how - why?!" the taller boy stuttered out, voice seemingly full of shock, or confusion.
Selim grinned like a kid on christmas day, and held up the bento box of half-eaten Japanese cuisine.
"Nehy, nhey, Kitsune-chan, look! Sushi~!" Quickly, he pulled the box of rice-covered fish into his chest, clutching it protectively. "But you can't have any." A small, adorably suspicious frown curled down the corners of his lips as he looked at the redhead with comically narrowed eyes.
His actions were rather childlike, yes, but perhaps that was because he never really had a childhood? Maybe his mind was compensating for lost time? Obviously, his he had reverted into a younger mentality. Odd, one might suppose, but 'love' does weird things to people, even if it's artificial.
"Uh...um...Fangs? Are yooou....feeling...okay?". The raven haired boy's eyes were wide as he watched his dormmate walked closer to him, and then crouch down, eyeing his bento box.
A smile returned to Selim's face, and he nodded, disturbingly peppy, "Mhm! I have sushi with me. I really love sushi, it tastes super yummy, and looks cute!" He grabbed a piece, holding it up. White rice surrounded what locked like crab and salmon with a slice of avocado, which were held tight with a strip of nori seaweed.
"See, it's small, and cute! Nhey?" He grinned, before promptly eating the piece of sushi. After swallowing, the black-haired Slytherin's attention fully focused back on his sushi, and he hummed happily, "Yummy~"
Apparently his mind had completely forgotten the redhead was there, to focused on his new, idiotic source of affection.
If his parents, or nii-san had been there, the personality of the boy wouldn't seem all that disturbingly unnatural. They would probably get flashbacks to when he was 4, a time where he was cheerful, carefree, and full of childish innocence.
Those days hadn't lasted long. His parents were probably glad of the fact, but his 'nii-san' mayhaps mourned the loss of such innocence... rightfully so, if one knew the reason his personality had switched so drastically.
Selim shoved another piece of seaweed into his mouth, a bit of rice now sticking to his cheek. He hummed a tune, one that would maybe be familiar to his dormmate. It sounded like a lullaby.
He spoke again, though only saying one word senselessly. His voice full of joy, he hugged the bento box once more. "Sushi, sushi, sushi~!"
When this potion wore off, the chance of seeing such happiness would be near non-existent.
Instead, maybe it would be replaced with cold flickering anger.
Though for now, Selim sat with his bento, a smile one his face, one that would most likely never be seen again by those around him.
