An Unexpected Twist

They moved closer and closer to the top of the stairs, and thankfully, the staircase had not moved on them. At least it had not moved yet. Talking actually helped keep his mind off of the pain for now, which made his walk just a bit more quick and easy. The questions did not seem to bother him at all. He actually smiled and nodded.

”Yeah. He’s a heart doctor. Doesn’t do broken bones, but he had to at some point I think.” Wes liked talking about his family, he missed them often because he was in such a new place.

As for the question about his dad not being magical, he nodded as well. ”And he has no magic. Just a regular muggle. My mom and sisters too. I wish they could see all this.” The smile on his face faded after the last bit. He did miss his family, especially his sisters. Though he was surprised that he did miss that as much as he did.

”So does your muggle family know that you all have magic or anything?” Wes grimaced a little after that question as they neared the top of the stairs. Almost there, or well almost on the correct floor.

An Unexpected Twist
As they were getting up the stairs and eventually soon reaching the top Wes was talking about his family and his dad. It seemed to Rose that was helping him to walk and bear the pain as his pace slightly got quicker. Rose hoped it wasn't hurting more and that he was beautifully hiding it.

Wes told Rose his father was indeed a heart doctor and that he was a muggle as his mother and sister.
Even though some of Rose's family members were muggles too she still wondered how it would feel to only live with muggles who don't know anything about this world and what Wes was able to tell them and not to tell them if they were things. But since their son was a wizard they might have get to know a bit of this world.
However Rose found it a bit sad they might never be able to see Hogwarts and hard for to them to imagine how great it is despite everything Wes could tell them about it.

Her who heard about Hogwarts for a long time in her family and even more from her brother when he entered in she always got amazed by how great it should be. However before actually having seen it she could have never imagined this much about it and its greatness.

"I'm sure your family would love it there if they were able to see it! But once you get back home you will have a lot of stories to tell them they will be impatient to hear!" she told enthusiastically in a way to reassure him as she saw his smile faded away as he talked about his family.

"You might miss them too."

Then a question came to her mind. Indeed she was curious about something and hesitated to ask but eventually did.

"Hmm....by the way how did your parents react when they knew you were a wizard? I don't want to seem rude by asking that but I mean how did they take the news? If it's not to personal to ask of course..."

She tried to be careful in her words and her way of asking not to be misunderstood in her wonders which were only purely out of curiosity.

She knew not every muggle family was welcoming the news of having a wizard into its midst. Some members of her extended family who were muggles didn't really accept the fact of having a wizard as a son. She didn't know well them because they were extended family and they also were keeping distance with the other family members. Actually in her family they were the only muggles to reject the wizard world although she didn't quite know well why since no one was never talking about them. But she didn't want to bother Wes with this complicated family matter since it was minor and it wasn't all clear to her so it was better not to talk about it.

"Well, yes they know since we are kind of all mixed." she told Wes with a small laugh.

"Some wizards of my family got married to muggles and muggles to wizards. Also some are only muggles but got wizard children, same as your family!" she explained while saying the last part of the sentence with a smile.

As she ended up talking they had finished climbing all the steps and found themselves at the floor of the hospital wing, the third floor.

Wes pain is finally soon coming to an end, hopefully. Thought Rose

An Unexpected Twist
A quizzical look flashed on the boy’s face when Rose asked a question with the disclaimer that he need not answer if it were too personal. It was not. At least not for him. The embarrassment was not his family, the only parts he felt off about were that he really did not know what he was doing in the Wizarding World. In Wes’ mind, the other student who were from Wizard families had a leg up on him. It was probably true in some ways though.

However, Wes smiled at her. ”No it’s fine. So my sisters went mad. Not like crazy mad, but were kind of thrilled. A little jealous, but happy. Dad thought it was a bit of a joke at first, but came around quickly, very excited. My mom wasn’t surprised at all. Apparently she knew I had a connection to some other ‘realm’ or whatever. My dad would call her a bit mad herself, mainly because she’s German.” Wes laughed as he hobbled along, leaning on tbh girl a little more for moment as be flinched slightly from pain. ”You know, I used to think that lady was crazy too. Guess she wasn’t.”

Wes was letting her lead now, and he started to look around to his left and right because he did not know where he was going. ”So… you know where the hospital wing is right, Bookworm?” He chuckled lightly, a smile on his face as he shrugged at her while waiting for her reaction. The tone was friendly, like he was joking around and playing with her. Only about the nickname he called her. The boy really didn’t know where they were or how to get to where they were going.

An Unexpected Twist
Thankfully Wes didn't take Rose's question wrongly and even answered while smiling. When he told her his sisters went mad Rose laughed a bit as she could imagine how they would have felt knowing their brother was a wizard and not them.

"Well to be honest I can understand your sisters for being a bit jealous. This world is like a dream and only in history book for muggle children. So I can imagine when they find out it does exist but they can't be part of it it must be quite frustrating. If my brother only were a wizard I would have been envious and a bit jealous of him as well." Rose said smiling.

"Although it seemed to have been well welcomed by your parents which is good actually! Plus by what you said your parents seem to be funny. However who thinks of their mom as being a crazy?" Rose asked chuckling.
She was quite happy for Wes that his family has accepted him as who he was and that he came here to be part of this world even if they can't.

Since they have reached the third floor the one of the hospital wing they were not that far from it. Rose didn't come here often so it could have been easy for her to go the wrong way. She thought in case Wes would help her but when he asked her if she knew where it was she didn't know if he was asking as a joke according to the nickname he called her or if he was actually being serious. Though he didn't seem to know at all by the way he was looking around him.
Thus she may not be able to rely on him for affirmation.

"Don't you trust the Bookworm? You should know I have already read all the books about Hogwarts and I know every corner of it by heart." she answered with her malicious smile.
The truth was she hadn't read it yet. She wasn't a good liar so she hoped Wes wouldn't notice as she told it on a joking tone.

However as she was talking she carefully looked around her to find her way out and remembered how to get to the hospital wing. She tried not to make it too obvious for Wes not to think she wasn't sure of her way, which actually was quite true. However Rose did have a good visual memory so she could remember her way by seeing it in her mind the only time she came here.

Then she started walking again towards the direction she remembered which was the right one. She would have better not to take the wrong turn as that would make Wes walking more and his injury worst.

"This way." Rose told Wes before asking playfully.

"So is bookworm my new nickname from you?"

An Unexpected Twist
As they continued on, Wes offered her a shrug and another laugh when she asked him why someone would call their mom crazy. ”Well she would talk about spiritual stuff here and there. Crazy stuff, at least I thought. She kept saying things about my aura and what not. Like I said, I guess she was right. I bet she rubs it in dad’s face all the time now too.”

He also partly noticed she did not know exactly where they were going either, except that she had them on the right floor, but he did not see a need to comment on it since she was already having to help a larger kid all the way up the stairs. For the nickname comment, Wes just shrugged at her. His tone was sarcastic, but lighthearted as he replied. “Unless you Ravenclaws will attack me for it.” This was followed by a smile and another laugh though.

It actually wasn’t much farther and she led them to the Hospital Wing. Wes sat down on a bench right outside the door to rest for a moment. ”I can take it from here. He looked a bit more relaxed now, finally being where he needed to be.”Sorry you got dragged into carrying me all this way. Could’ve been worse though right?”

An Unexpected Twist
"Your mom must be really proud you're a wizard though." answered Rose after Wes explained why he thought his mom was crazy.

"She should brag to your dad about how right she was." added Rose while chuckling.

It was funny how lighthearted Wes was talking about his family. He didn't know Rose but he was casually talking to her about it. That was making Rose smile.

When Wes said he will call her bookworm as a nickname unless some Ravenclaws may attack him Rose sadly smiled before telling him.

"You don't have to worry about it. I haven't really got any friends in my house. At least not yet."

"So for now you're safe!" she said with smile.

But suddenly she thought it wasn't actually right one person could indeed attack him. Of course not truly attack him since it was a joke.

"Well actually no. You should watch your back." Rose told Wes mysteriously.

"There is indeed a Ravenclaw who may attack you for calling a bookworm." she said full of malice.

"My brother." Rose finally added with a serious tone to scare Wes a bit.

Of course she didn't mean to actually scare him and it was hard not to let a smile appeared on her face but she fought the desire to smile as hard as she could. Obviously her brother would probably only laugh at the nickname bookworm for his sister as long as there was no mean and no intention of hurting her behind. But she wanted to tease Wes a bit since he was the one who started.

Not soon later they have finally reached the hospital wing where Wes sat on a bench outside before Rose went in announcing Wes was here. When she came back Wes told Rose he could take it from here and apologised for dragging her into this small adventure if we can call it that way.

"No need to apologise. I didn't mind. Though my body might be sore tomorrow." she told Wes while slightly laughing.

"It was my pleasure to help you. Plus who knows it may be the beginning of a new friendship and we might cross each other path again." she said her head slightly tilted on the side while flashing a smile at Wes.

"I wish you a good recovery but I do not worry too much! You'll be fine really soon! I'll get going by now and see you next time!" Rose told Wes while starting to walk to leave while waving at him to say goodbye.

Maybe she did make a new friend and was hoping to see him around again.
