Appearance

Reducio
At first glance, Geneva Bishop is a petite girl with dark hair and dark eyes. Freckles lightly dot her cheeks, and her mouth suggests an inquisitive expression. Although she stands at only 4’6” tall, she has the strength and agility of a dancer.
Personality

Reducio
Above all else, Geneva seeks knowledge. The desire to know is her strongest motivation, and she’s very quick-witted and intelligent. However, this boldness has often gotten her into trouble. She’s not afraid to ask seemingly impertinent questions, and she has little respect for boundaries when she’s on the scent. Some might call her a busybody, but that’s not how she sees herself. While she does care for others, she’s not particularly empathetic and often puts herself first. She doesn’t intend to hurt people, it just happens, and she’s sorry when it does. To her, learning new things is a gateway, a key to endless possibilities, and the excitement can sometimes overtake everything else.

She can be rather quiet in large, busy settings, which might give off the impression of shyness, but she’s not afraid to start conversations with strangers. Although she’s used to getting what she wants, she also calculates to please. She won’t always tell someone what she feels if she thinks they’d rather hear something else. However, this can change as she grows closer so people; she’s often outspoken among her own family members.
First Instance Of Magic

Reducio
At the early age of five, Geneva’s creative aspirations were cruelly cut short by her mother. No matter how much the sobbing child begged, the answer was still “No, Geneva, you may not dye your hair purple!”

When the sobbing reduced to screaming, Geneva was carried unwillingly to bed.
Geneva awoke the next morning as disconsolate as the night before. As she stepped onto the bathroom step-stool to brush her teeth, a flash of color in the mirror caught her eye. She looked closer and shrieked with glee!

Her mother was not so pleased. How in the world had her five-year-old managed to dye her hair bright purple overnight? Although no amount of washing made a difference, the next morning Geneva’s hair had returned to its original color as if nothing had happened. This equally relieved and perplexed her parents.
History

Reducio
Geneva’s childhood was quiet and peaceful, if not particularly eventful. The one dark stain in her memories happened when she was six years old. One rainy night in October, her mother sat her down on the couch and told her that her father had died in a car crash. That he was never coming home.

From that point on, Geneva’s mother, Esther, and older sister, Maren, took care of the family, including Geneva’s younger brother, Caleb. For the most part, they were happy. Esther worked as an ER nurse to support the family, which meant long hours and not much time spent with her kids. Maren stepped in as a second mother to Geneva and Caleb, who loved her as dearly as their actual mother.

Ever since she was young, Geneva had always been one of the “gifted children.” She just never seemed to have very much trouble with the work other children struggled over. To the adults, this was spectacular. But to Geneva herself, it was a bore. She wished that she could be given challenging schoolwork, material that stretched her mind and pushed her to explore.

Because she got good marks in all of her classes without trying, she decided to push herself. She would dig deeper in all her subjects, learn each topic as completely as she could. She studied the origins of math- how ancient philosophers had noticed patterns hidden in their world and written them out into theories. She was fascinated by the ancient world, and all the things they had discovered with so little to go off of. The more she studied, the more questions she had, and although she hardly understood all of it she still tried to absorb as much as she could.

Any time that wasn’t spent studying was filled with dancing. The hours spent in the ballet studio, where she could focus on moving her body and creating beautiful shapes, were the highlight of each week.
Geneva felt something else within herself too, something she couldn’t name. A… potential. It wasn’t until a very oddly dressed representative of a place called Hogwarts School came to call that she realized what it was. Magic.

When Geneva first arrived at Hogwarts, she was shocked to be sorted into Slytherin. From all she’d heard and read, it was a house for sneaks and dark wizards. But she slowly came to see that her house was more than that, and embraced it along with the rest of her new world.
Relationships
Family:
Esther Bishop
mother - born 1982

Reducio
Esther Bishop is an ER nurse and single mother of three. When her children were 14, 6, and 4, her husband Samuel was killed in a car crash. Her grief was buried under her new responsibility to care for her family. She is gentle and soft-spoken, but she is not afraid to defend her morals.
Samuel Bishop
father - 1983-2019

Reducio
Samuel Bishop was a kind, good-natured man who was devoted to his family. Although he never completed formal education, he was very bright, and he worked as an accountant to provide for his family. Of the children, only Maren has many memories of him, and the other children would beg her for stories of their father.
Maren Bishop
sister - born 2005

Reducio
Geneva’s older sister is like a second mother to her. Eight years older than Geneva, Maren is currently 19 years old and attending a local college to continue caring for her younger brother. When Samuel Bishop died, Maren was 14, but she took up the mantle of caretaker as her mother became the breadwinner.
Caleb Bishop
brother - born 2016

Reducio
Underneath this rambunctious, slightly obnoxious child, is a sweet little boy who loves his family. Caleb Bishop is obsessed with all things cars, and he wants to become a mechanic. He’s always been the youngest child, and although he’a used to being babied, he’s not too spoiled. He knows when to take responsibility, and craves more freedom.
