Ruthie did not actually believe the corridors needed dusting. They seemed to her perfectly fine as they were--lived in, at worst. But Gris wanted to host an errand and so here she was ready to help, armed with a host of cleaning supplies for the students in her care.
Leaning back against the wall, she waited for them all to arrive, while shuffling a deck of chocolate frog cards in her hands. She'd thought about bringing a book, but imagined they'd be more or less prompt and therefore she wouldn't get too much reading in. But reading the backs of the frog cards--that was manageable. And honestly, she'd never really had the time to properly look them over anyway. She was flipping over #59 Sacharissa Tugwood when the students started to appear.
"Hello there," she greeted her group, "If you're here for the errand, you'll notice the cleaning supplies along the wall." She pointed with her free hand to the buckets, mops, rags, a broom and feather dusters next to her on the floor in a small line. "It should be pretty self-explanatory. Gris just wants some help cleaning up the dust, but, em," she wiped her finger along one of the medieval wall carvings and held it up to her face to inspect, "there shouldn't be too much." She smiled at them as she wiped off the dust from her finger. This was a much easier errand in her opinion than some of the others they'd had throughout the year.
"So, when you're ready, grab your materials and start cleaning," she instructed, "and just shout if you've got any problems. Good luck." And with that, she turned on her heel and passed around the corridor bend. She was sure they'd do a good job--or good enough Gris would be pleased.

Willow was excited to participate in an errand. She had heard of them but hadn’t really had the opportunity to participate since she felt like she was always running around, doing something else. Especially with the fact that Hufflepuff hadn't won in a while, she felt the need to contribute to the house points. Luckily, with all of her wandering around the castle it wasn't that hard to find the meeting point for the cleaning, and she seemed to arrive just on time with everyone else. She took a second to look at the details on the wall, something she didn't really do even when she was exploring. Wall carvings just were never interesting compared to talking portraits, and the ghosts floating through the halls.
She rocked back and forth on her heels listening to the instructions, and leaping for what she perceived to be the best cleaning supplies as soon as the Ravenclaw was finished speaking. Holding the necessary supplies for herself bundled in her arms, she turned to the others with a beaming smile, since she only recognized Serena out of the group. "I'm Willow! It's nice to meet all of you! She started working on the wall nearest to them. She didn't think she was allergic to dust, and hopefully this wouldn't be the time to figure it out.

Tyranni wasn't particularly thrilled about having to clean Hogwarts, but it was for house points and she couldn't pass up the opportunity to try and outcompete the other houses. She didn't really know any of the other girls there, including the Prefect who was supervising this errand, but did recognize one of the other girls who was also from Slytherin. After providing instructions, the Prefect walked around the bend of the corridor, off to do who knows what. The least she could do is help, Tyranni thought to herself. Hopefully she's just going to work on that part of the corridor.
One of the other girls introduced herself as Willow. "Tyranni, but you can call me Tyr. Let me know if you need me, otherwise I'm going to start dusting the photos, and armor off before wiping everything down with a rag." She recognized her from the Great Hall when Willow was making bracelets for anyone, but Tyranni had forgotten her name with the stress of last month. Really, this task should not be very hard, as the overall corridor looked relatively clean, aside from the natural dusty appearance that was the result of being built from stone.
She walked up to the first suit of armor that was in the corridor and got as much dust off as was possible, then started wiping it down with her rag. Interesting. She had never actually considered stopping to read the plaques that were posted at the base where the armor stood. The one she was cleaning had a shield with the Gryffindor crest embossed on the body. Tyr made note to check the other sets of amour that she cleaned.

With yet another errand opportunity available, Bridget found herself walking down one of Hogwarts' numerous corridors, trying to find the one her group was to meet at. Especially after skipping the Valentine's Day tea errand, feeling that would've been a bit too chaotic for her comfort, the Slytherin had been sure to sign up for this one and earn House Points. After all, she was too shy to volunteer in class, even though she usually knew the answer, so errands were the best way for her to assist Slytherin on its way to (hopefully) victory.
Finally finding the right corridor in the labyrinthine maze the school held, Bridget instantly felt her nose prickle. A few seconds later, she sneezed, covering it with the sleeve of her dark gray sweatshirt. Eyes watering slightly, she gave a little wave to those already gathered. Yes, Bridget had a bit of a dust allergy, but no one needed to know that. It was her decision to come to the errand anyways with that knowledge, and it wasn't like her allergy was terrible. So long as she wasn't the one displacing billows of dust into the air around her face, she would be fine.
"I'm Bridget," she informed the group, wrinkling her nose to stop another sneeze. This was pretty standard for errands--everyone said their names, the person in charge gave directions, and then people did their own thing. Of the other girls in the hallway, she recognized Ruthie, of course, who she'd met several times before, as well as Tyr, a first year in her House. While they waited for the others to show up, the small girl busied herself with examining her surroundings. Suits of armor, medieval paintings, lots of stone making up the floor and walls. After spending so much time in corridors just like this one, there really wasn't anything to see. As such, Bridget was instantly paying attention when Ruthie elucidated what they'd be doing. Once the prefect finished, leaving them to work, the brunette headed over to the supplies. Selecting a broom, she made her way down the corridor a bit, putting space between her and the girls who would probably elect to dust. Today wasn't really a day for sneezing fits.
Leaning her cleaning device against the wall, Bridget stopped to tie her hair back from her face. While she yanked the thick brown locks into a ponytail, she examined the broom. Clearly, this was not a flying broom, or if it was, it hadn't been used for such purposes in ages. Still, the shaft felt comfortable in her grip as she reached for it again, making her realize just how familiar she was with carrying a broomstick around. She wasn't here to marvel over the differences between flying brooms and normal brooms, though, so Bridget began sweeping away whatever grime covered the floor.

Serena made her way to the corridor. Her main reason for coming to this errand was, of course, the house points and Galleons. But sprucing up the castle also seemed like a kind thing to do. The school deserved to be taken care of. And it wouldn't be that hard to polish some knights and dust a few paintings.
As the badger reached the meeting place, Serena looked around. She realized that she had never really taken a closer look at the stone halls. Usually, she would be busy heading off to classes or other areas of the building. The various paintings looked beautiful, but there was a thin layer of dust covering some of them. And the suits of armor looked a tad dull. Yes, the castle definitely needed some Spring Cleaning. Although she supposed, it wasn't quite Spring yet, but you get the idea.
After listening to the Ravenclaw prefect give instructions, Serena looked around at the group of people. She recognized a Slytherin girl from the toad houses errand last month. Two other girls, Serena remembered seeing at Professor Bercegeay's tea party. However, she didn't really know any of them. Until she heard a familiar voice introduce herself to the group. Serena turned around to see Willow, the girl who taught her how to make friendship bracelets in the Huffie Common Room.
"I'm Serena," she addressed the rest of the group with a little wave before heading towards the pile of cleaning supplies.
"Hey Willow, how are you doing?" She asked while grabbing a rag and dipping it into one of the buckets.

Mildred heard about the new errand asking for students to help with cleaning the school while cleaning the school wasn't something she'd write home about plus she thought it sounded boring, even tedious but in the end simple. Compared to the previous errands she had done perhaps this would be the most simple one yet, clean the corridor and then she could go back to the library. Whenever Mildred walked through the great hall to take a peek at how her house was doing this time around, she practically cringed every time. While Hufflepuffs are known to be the least likely to care about house points and winning, it still didn't mean she liked being in last, she hoped at least doing this would help her house at least a little bit.
After wandering for a bit Mildred believed she had found the location for the errand due to the group of students that were there, she scanned the group looking to see if she knew anyone and she didn't seem to recongize anyone there which was perfectly fine to her. She listened to the prefect's instructions while taking note of the variety of supplies they had to their disposal. After the simple instructions given by the prefect, they had disappeared around the corner bend, although this didn't bother Mildred much as she supposed that not much watching was needed nothing could really go wrong here. She listened to everyone else introduce themselves, she decided that it would be rude if she didn't at least introduce herself, she smiled at the other girls and said "Hello! I'm Mildred, a pleasure to be working with you guys."
Watching everyone go off to do their own thing Mildred decided that she had to do her part and start working too, she looked at the variety of supplies and picked up a feather duster and went off to a nearby painting and started to dust it. While they weren't as dusty as she thought they be, dust still flew out at her and nearby whenever she dusted.

Willow really hated group projects usually, because there was always one person that put in way more effort than everyone else. But people seemed like they were all genuinely ready to help out. Except for the prefect for some reason who seemed to just have completely left. She figured that they probably had some important prefect business to attend to, rather than supervising some students dusting which wasn't that hard. "It's nice to see a familiar face here, Serena! I was worried it would be a group of all new people. Which is fine, but still. So, I guess you could say I'm doing good! This is actually a nice distraction from homework."
She turned to face Serena, a small smile on her face before her face scrunched up into a sneeze. "I feel like the dusting part won't be as fun." She looked over to the girl that introduced herself as Bridget, "I guess we'll both be sneezing today!" She giggled before returning to her original conversation. "Anyways, how are you doing Serena?"
She moved on to a framed portrait hung on the wall, doing an overall sweep of the bigger connecting pieces, before twisting her rag into a point to make sure she got into all of the nooks and crannies of the intricate frame around it. She looked at the dark grey dust that had collected on the end and made a face at the grossness of it all before repeating the process.

The first suit of armor was finished being dusted and wiped down and Tyranni started to move down the corridor, dusting off the paintings along the path until she arrived at the next suit of armor. Remembering that the first suit of armor had the Gryffindor crest embossed on its shield, she checked to see which house this armor belonged to but was unable to find a shield. Hmm, Hufflepuff. She began to clean the armor when the question popped into her mind, Are these statues, or are they actual wearable pieces? Although she already stood on the platform, she couldn't quite see into the visor. She stood on her tippy toes attempting to peer into the visor, trying to find any support to steady herself. If only I was a little bit taller. Suddenly she heard the sound of metal clanging to the ground right beside her. CLASH!
Startled, Tyranni jumped down from the platform facing the suit of armor to see the shield on the ground at her feet, rocking slowly to a halt. "Merlin! What in the bloody hell!" She shouted. Heart pounding and adrenaline racing, she tried to clear her mind and think logically. She must have knocked the shield down in her struggle to see into the visor. In her panic, she thought she saw movement out of the corner of her eye and without even processing her own actions, the threw a punch outwards. Realizing she had just made a mistake and before she could stop, she heard a CRACK! Pain seared through her fist as it collided with the stone wall.
Glancing down at her hand, there was some blood beginning to trickle down her fingers from her knuckles, the skin red and hot with irritation. She would not cry. Pops didn't raise her to show weakness in front of others. Great. This is exactly what I needed. I hope I don't get in trouble. She grabbed one of the clean rags by the rest of the supplies and wrapped it around her bleeding hand. She went back to the armor and tried to place the shield back in it's proper place.

Willow had just finished dusting the parts of the wall she could reach. She realized that it may not have been effective to have a bunch of kids that may or may not have hit a growth spurt cleaning the walls without any ladders. She figured it wasn't her job to be concerned about it, and turned to turn in some of her really dirty rags and get a duster to dust a bit higher up than she could reach with the rags. Right as she was picking her stuff up, she heard a loud noise. She jumped, letting out a small scream of surprise, dropping the stuff she was starting to pick up.
She tried to search for the source of the sound, quickly seeing the shield rocking on the ground. She started to say something, but not before Tyr punched a wall? Interesting reaction to something falling. She knew a few people in her hometown that when they got angry they would lash out with punching or kicking stuff, so maybe that was what's happening. Then she spotted a glimpse of red coming out of her hand. "Oh my goodness, Tyr are you ok?" She ran over to help her put the shield back where it belongs. "Do we need to get you to the infirmary? That looked like it hurt. But also why did you punch the wall in the first place?" After successfully replacing the shield, she turned to look at Tyr and see if she needed anymore help.

Bridget got to work on the rather mindless task of sweeping the stone floor. She was starting to agree with Ruthie--there wasn't a ton to clean up here. Sure, there were cobwebs, dust, and dirt, but it wasn't like anyone needed the corridors to be in perfect condition when all anyone ever did was walk straight through them, probably not even paying attention to something so trivial as a layer of dust. The Slytherin could see why the Library and the Trophy Room would need to be dusted, but the hallways? Still, she was here for the reward whether she thought the task needed doing or not.
With each brush of her broom, she steadily grew a comparatively small pile of trekked in dirt and pine needles, along with the occasional scattering of food crumbs. While she worked, she made a mental list of things she needed to do. Return Quidditch through the Ages to the Library-- she'd had the book for well over a week, even though she'd finished it in two days, and it had been just sitting in her trunk, forgotten. Organize her trunk-- thinking about the library book sitting in her trunk reminded her of the mess her belongings had become, deteriorating into a haphazard mound of wrinkled clothes. Yeah, she really needed to fix that. Finish her Transfiguration essay-- the brunette let out a little groan, not looking forward to that task. Owl friends and family-- that was something she hadn't done in a while, even though she'd promised to write at least twice a month. She supposed living with a foot in two worlds made it harder to remember everything.
Bridget's planning was interrupted by a crash. If someone had been watching her, they would've seen her jump, completely startled by the sudden clatter. Whipping her head toward the noise, she assessed what was happening. It looked like the Slytherin first year, Tyr, had accidentally knocked one of the shields off a suit of armor and had... punched the wall in annoyance? Striding over to the scene, the short girl went to bend down and pick up the shield, to return it to its proper mount, but the girl named Willow beat her to it, helping Tyr mount it back in its place. Bridget hung off to the side, feeling uncomfortable, not sure what to do. The first years, now done, started talking, and she cringed a bit when Willow suggested Tyr go to the infirmary. From experience, Bridget had the feeling Tyr was not going to appreciate that suggestion. Slytherins as a general rule only went to the Hospital Wing if they absolutely had to. Maybe they were just stubborn, but she had a feeling if Tyr went to the Hospital Wing at all, she wouldn't want anyone to know she'd gone.
Moving away from the scene but still listening into what was going on in case the conversation escalated, she returned to her pile of swept-up debris. Fishing her wand out, she moved it in the shape of an S and said, "Scourgify." Just like that, the pile disappeared. Although it would probably be much easier to just cast the spell on the anything that needed cleaning, doing manual labor and then casting a spell to erase the gathered grime was much more satisfying. Slipping her wand back into her pocket, she crossed to the assembled cleaning materials, swapping out her broom for a rag she soaked in water. She set to work on the suits of armor opposite where Tyr was working, scrubbing at the metal and its coating of filth. With two of them working together on the task, even if indirectly, they would finish the task in less time--there were, after all, quite a few suits of armor.
