Kevin didn't really know what to say, for a moment he had wanted to say something that supported the Gryffindor girl. She had been right, it was somewhat wrong to treat house elves as slaves, but at the same time, he didn't like how she had spoken to his friend. Kevin didn't say anything though because he knew Jade could easily take care of herself. Looking at the girl, then at Reid, Kevin gave a vague, lazy, wave, "Well, thank you both for saving my friend. I'm Kevin O'Reilly."

Glancing towards Jade, he said to her, "Do try to be careful next time. Please. I was really worried." Kevin pulled Jade into a hug then, patting her back slightly. "I know there are house elves here, Jade. But you have to remember, they work for Hogwarts. Not us, so you need to be careful okay?" Kevin didn't want to sound rude, but he had been in her exact same shoes. Growing up, he too had a house elf, and it was only his mother's wise words that stopped him from treating their elf like a slave.

"I'll help you pick up all the candy wrappers, okay?" Kevin's smile was wide, his eyes crinkling in the corner's. "When we finish decorating, we can go eat. I'm starving."

Reid's expression turned into a bit of displeasure at Jade's comment about the house elves. But he wasn't about to pick a fight with a first year, he constantly got told of how he needed to be a role model. It almost made him want to sigh out loud at the reminder of it going off in his head like a blip. But he held it in since the other two already jumped onto her about it.

There wasn't much of a use on a third person to hound her, he would've already said the same thing. Though he was happy that they had a different sentiment. Reid fixed his misshapen charcoal hoodie, which had the letters 'DCFC' printed white on it. "Sure, I'll help. Are you just doing this for the occasion?" He was already walking over to pick up some left over decorations and work them into whatever Jade was doing.

That was her name right? He assumed so since that's what the other girl called her name as. "If you lot need something put over the ledge, just have me do it please." He was afraid that the same thing would happen again, he would rather be the one breaking an arm than another student break one in front of him. He was a lot more meticulous about picking the flowers, maybe because his mother had dragged him along many times over.

But for the most part, he looked at what Jade already had done and tried to copy that to what he was doing. It was a dazzling show of pinks and other pastel colors, these were not colors he typically saw at the school. The 'vines' were an even nicer touch. He wondered what interest they had in the holiday, Valentine's was Valentine's.

When he was a first year, he ran as far as the hills could be from girls and any form of affection alike. That was especially true when he unceremoniously rejected Bloom, he really thanked the heavens above they were still friends now. There was no girl in mind either, Quidditch was all that occupied his mind and maybe that was for the better. WC: 366
