Everything was strange.

The platform was strange, the train was strange, the people were strange, the clothes were strange - all of these new noises and sounds were just static in Hazel's ears, dull to the overwhelming amount of sensory input. Hazel was used to her townhouse, her street, the parks, the stores, and people of west Kensington; this was not that. This was a different world: one that was clouded in fog and whispered songs of ancient kingdoms and stories that glinted with silver and gold; this world felt like moss, soft wood, cold rock, and melting candles - it was ancient, foreign, and heavy with magic.

Hazel wasn't sure what she was expecting when she stepped upon the castle grounds. Her foremost concern became that she didn't know where her luggage was - and in a moment of brief panic, she paused in the jostling crowd of children to aimlessly pat her cloak and feel her pockets, as if her trunk could hide from her in the folds of fabric. But the only thing to comfort her was a worn wooden stick that hummed with an unfamiliar energy, and a hoard of sweaty, unfamiliar children.

Bothersome was this crowd, and Hazel fell victim to the sweep of movement as she carried herself up staircase after staircase, trying to get her bearings. It truly felt like she'd just been tossed here - though a lot of the children seemed excited. All Hazel knew was the promise of school, of halls full of magic and classrooms full of her wildest dreams. The letter that held these promises was still tucked in her trunk, away from Mother's view. Not that she would have minded; Hazel was almost confident that Mother wouldn't have batted an eyelid had she told her she had enrolled herself in a magic school and needed to purchase a cauldron and wand for it.

Being swept into the great hall was like peering into an open hearth: warmth poured over her body, and a golden glow washed over the hall of bustling students. Tables stretched impossibly far into the room, and Hazel wondered how or where they were moved if they were not in use. She lost herself in the observation of the picture frames and their moving subjects, the candles and their floating mystery, and the bustle of conversation around her. She wasn't used to all this commotion, and she wanted desperately to be at the back of the crowd where she might take a breath of her own oxygen.

So lost in this was Hazel that she did not notice the hush that fell over the room. She did not notice the occasional cheer that rose from one of the tables. Though what she did notice was some of her comrades mumbling and muttering under their breath. Things like "Not Gryffindor, not Gryffindor," and "Anything but Ravenclaw," reached her ears. Hazel wondered absently what those things were, and if she herself might be thinking about them. But her brain was dust and ash and static, lost to the environment and her own curiosity.

"Caelum, Hazel!"

Hazel startled at the sound of her own name, reacting as any person might; but she didn't move, didn't step foot towards the front of the room. All she could think was There's another Hazel here? Odd. She wasn't sure how she felt about sharing a name. She did like the last name, though; Latin. Very pretty.

She shifted her weight, played with her hair; waited for someone to move. But nobody said anything. Hazel felt like there were too many eyes in the room, and they were all trained on her. Gradually, her gaze locked on the man standing by the stool in the front, and she the faint discomfort of knowing his eyes were trained on her.

Suddenly several hands were shoving her forwards, and an awkward squawk escaped her lips. "Wait, wait, no - I'm not - it's Hazel Elise -" but her protest went unacknowledged. Unceremoniously, she was pushed out of the crowd, and towards the dusty, crumpled hat that moved as if it breathed. Terrified that they had the wrong person and she was to make a fool of herself, Hazel clambered atop the stool.

The hat hardly brushed her forehead, as her hair was too frizzy to allow it. A voice murmured against her ear, ancient as the castle walls around them: "A promising past you have, then...much of it clouded." Hazel frowned.

"I'm not Hazel Caelum, I'm Hazel Elise," She stated, her voice wavering only a bit.

"Ah, the magic of the registry is never wrong," The hat crowed in her ear. "But where to put a stubborn temper like yours is difficult..." Hazel blinked, mind whirling as the sorting hat carded through her memories and thoughts. The name stuck like a pin to the front of her mind, and she became distracted from the mumbling of the hat. "Right then...I do believe I know where you belong." And before she could ask what that meant, the murmur in her ear became a thunderous belt of:

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Alex fidgeted in the crowd of first-years as the sorting ceremony took place. He hated tight spaces, especially because of his hyper personality. He could barely move at the moment without rubbing against a random student.

Alex was one second away from shoving a girl who had pushed him earlier when suddenly, he heard his name being called.

"Vanieldia, Alex!"

Alex turned to face the stage and sighed, starting to shove his way through the huge mob of 11 year olds. Once he got pass all of them and was in front of the stool, he plopped down on the stool and looked forward with his arms crossed as the hat was placed on his head.

The hat immediately shifted on his head, much to Alex's surprise. He didn't expect it to move, all his witch mother ever told him was that the sorting hat spoke.

"Ah, you are Lilith White's son, I see...So she married a muggle, hm? What a nice surprise," The sorting hat muttered, moving slightly. Alex held back a laugh as he relaxed on the stool and replied, "Yup. I am surprised an old hat like you can even remember my mom."

At his words, the sorting hat made a sound that sounded similar to a chuckle.

"Talkative one, you are, Vanieldia. You certainly have your mother's flair for the dramatics. I reckon you would make quite a fine Gryffindor," The hat commented, looking down at the boy. Alex laughed a little at that, "Put me in any house, hat, and I am sure to be popular. Even in Slytherin, I will not cease to impress those pure-bloods."

"Slytherin does not suit you, boy, for you do not have a huge ambition and crave for power. You neither seek fame nor money, however you are enthusiastic to learn magic," It disagreed, its deep voice scaring Alex slightly when he suddenly voiced his disapproval. "You are hardworking, kind and loyal underneath that dramatic mask you wear, Vanieldia. You are seeking friendship in your new home as well. You might fare well in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, lad," The hat added. Alex's eyes widened at that.

Althea had been sorted into Hufflepuff just now, wasn't she? He would definitely not give up the chance to be with his partner in crime since diapers.

"Ah, the Valeden girl. You could be of great help her on her journey, and she could do the same for you," The hat began to speak once again, seeming to have reached his decision. Alex held his breath.

"You may not belong in Gryffindor, but you will shine bright in..."

"HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat bellowed. Clapping arose from the table of yellow-collared students, and Alex could spot Althea's eyes turn his way.

Alex grinned contently and pulled off the hat from his head, placing it down and confidently striding off the stage and towards the Hufflepuff table.

He might have not gotten into Gryffindor like his mother, but at least he had his childhood friend with him from now on.

It was everything he could have ever imagined, but then not at all. Nothing could have prepared the young boy for what would come after disembarking that train a few hours before. There was an indistinct rumble and hum in the wave of bustling first years making their way into the Great Hall. Ken was nervous for sure, though he did not intend on showing - not least to people he hadn't met or seen before. All he knew was that what was about to happen would probably determine how the next few years of his wizarding life would go.

Somehow, he ended up at the head of the pack as if leading a bunch of lambs to the slaughter. Of course, his role of quasi-executioner was not intentional in the least but that's where he was. He noted a few giggling girls to his left, wide-eyed with the sight of the massive Hall. Boys behind him filing through in a pair sounded like they were competing at a game of 'who's-had-the-most-chocolate-frog-cards'. Ken remained stoic, determined in his cause.

"Kenneth Johnson?" came a voice at the top of the 3-step case in front of them. He was probably the fourth or fifth student to be called for sorting and by that point, he was highly nervous. What if he was sorted into a house he didn't want - no names mentioned. Sure, each house had its own perks and certainly, since end of the Wizarding War, the credit of each house was restored. But, what time allows to pass, memories seldom forget. The boy composed himself for a second before walking up toward the legendary wooden stool - or at least that's what the kid behind him said on their way to the front. Ken took a seat and had the Sorting Hat placed on his head.

"Hmm ... interesting, very interesting Mr. Johnson," the hat promptly began. Kenneth gripped the sides of the stool gently, "Sorry," he whispered, "but what's interesting?" The hat violently shifted his head to the left side of the room, "Insightful and full of tact are you, Mr. Johnson - the house of Slytherin would make you a grand wizard indeed ... but then again," the hat paused and flung Ken's head to the far right, "bravery and heart for people is a certainty in the House of Gryffindor ... hmmm, interesting." It felt like an eternity sitting there on that stool, the hat murmuring inaudibly all the while. It is said that the Sorting Hats decision was never to be questioned and that whatever House one was placed in was the House saw most fitting that that student. Kenneth thought that his parents both being in Ravenclaw House meant that he would be destined for the same blue cloaks that they donned those years ago.

A few seconds felt like a lifetime, the Sorting Hat had finally made its decision, "right then Mr. Johnson ... better be ... GRYFFINDOR!"

Yells erupted from the Gryffindor table as the students clapped and cheered for their newest recruit. Kenneth breathed a sigh of relief hearing the result; he wouldn't have been able to bear being sorted into Slytherin. The boy had nothing personal against the Greens, just ... well, it was Slytherin. He made his way down to join his fellow housemates, thrilled to be donning the red robe and being referred to as a 'Lion'.

Rosalind stood quietly on the edge of the troop of students. Quietly gripping her wand in annoyance.

Why didn’t their parents inform them? Do they want them to be unprepared?’ Rosalind looked at her peers in wonder. She could never expect to have a life that simple. She was always prepared and ready for trouble. She had to. As a Delarose, you never knew what dark beings could jump from around the corner. That’s why her first assignment was to find allies. And of course to be sorted into the right house. The one where people like her belonged. The house of fame, money and power.

Rosalind grinned at that. Her father would be proud.

Father had prepared her for this part. The sorting ceremony. All sorts of rumours were going around. They were supposed to fight monsters, answer personal questions before everyone, someone even said they were supposed to choose were they belonged. ‘Idiots’, she thought. Rosalind rolled her eyes. Nothing like that will happen. The requirement her fellow students were talking about were all absurd.

Her father had said the only thing she had to do was focus on what she wanted: fame, money and power. Rosalind hoped this would work. ‘Because if it didn’t…’ Rosalind shook her head to get that thought out of her head. Best not dwell on that.

Delarose, Rosalind

My turn, finally. Rosalind approached the stool with pride and gave her audience a charming smile. Never let them see how nervous you are. And what better way then to let her veela charm work. If they are distracted, they won’t notice it as much.

After that, Rosalind took her place on the stool. Rosalind gave the Headmaster a thankful smile and whispered a thank you. Being polite always goes first. Even before the jitters.

“Ah… This is not an easy choice… Charming… But with a dark upbringing. Perfect assets for the snakes.” Rosalind smiled and almost bounced off her chair to join her fellow housemates. “WAIT… Mmm there. I see.” If he had hands, he surely would scratch his chin in thought. Rose tried to focus on fame and power. She craved it. She had to. It was the only way. “ No, best not choose that. You deserve to make your own history and not follow in his footsteps. For this I give you...”

Then the hat decided her fate.

GRYFFINDOR.

A roaring applause filled the great hall.

Rosalind sat numb on the little stool. ‘How is this possible.’ Rosalind shook her head slightly. And gripped the edges of the hat firmly. How could he? Did he not know where she belonged?

Rosalind was ushered off her stool and promptly another name was called. Rosalind walked slightly dazed to her seat. They can’t know. I must conceal my true feelings. Then, as if nothing bad had happened Rose let out an angelic laugh and started conversations with her fellow housemates.

Rosalind dreaded the moment her father would learn of her mistake. Things would not be pleasant.

History will decide if I am a hero or a villain.

Tracey stood waiting among all the other first years. She looked around, most of the others were nervous, she wasn't. The small girl was waiting somewhat impatiently as she watched the hat. When they started calling names, it was last name, then first, which was awesome for her, the sooner the better right? It still took too long for Tracey to be called up, but that was probably for the best. She had seen some people get sorted and had gathered enough information to know that she was getting sorted, nothing else. Her observations meant nothing. She laughed a bit thinking about how everybody probably only knew that much. Then, at long last, her name was called.

"Cooper, Tracey"

She walked up with a bounce in her step, she was ready to be sorted. That's when a wave of nervousness hit her. She tried to ignore it as she walked up to the stool and the hat was placed on her head. With luck, she would be in her mother's house, Ravenclaw. She smiled at the thought, her nerves calmed.
"Well what do we have here?" The hat spoke. Tracey's mind started wandering, she thought about the other houses, what about Gryffindor, she once had a cousin in that house. Or Slytherin where her eldest brother would have surely been sorted into. "I can tell you want to be a Ravenclaw," Tracey slightly nodded, amazed by the hat's mind-reading abilities "Hmm, maybe not, you aren't very shy, I can tell that much" Tracey didn't know how to respond. The hat didn't seem to need a response anyway. It talked on for a bit reading Tracey's thoughts. Then, it stopped. When it spoke to her again, it had made up it's mind. "To me, it seems, that you best belong in" Well, not Ravenclaw apparently Tracey thought just before that hat called out her house name

"HUFFLEPUFF"

Tracey took off the hat and put it back. She walked over to her new house's table. She had almost gotten there before she tripped. Thank goodness no one saw, except some other Hufflepuffs. And hey, at least this time she didn't get hurt. Tracey's mind, like many times before, began to wander again. This time, about her new life at Hogwarts, the friends she might make and people she will meet. And with luck, there won't be too many cute fluffy animals in the Care for Magical Creatures class. But there's nothing wrong if there is. Sitting there, she finally directed her attention back to the other first years being sorted

Linley nearly tripped over the doorsill as he entered the Great Hall. He kept looking around, taking in all the sights, sounds, smells, everything. Everything seemed so big and open, he felt like he was walking though a giant's house. While craning his neck to try to look at the ceiling a bit better, he actually did a full spin. He almost immediately was knocked off balance as he backed into another student.

"S-sorry!" He yelped. Then, without looking the other person in the face, shimmied his way through the crowd in an effort to find a wall to stand by.

Linley listened intently to the headmaster's words, and- Merlin's pants was that a talking hat?! He'd heard about the Sorting Hat from his father, but seeing it in person was way cooler. He watched in awe and excitement as the Sorting Hat called out the house of each student in turn. As the names got into the Cs, Linley began to think: which house would he be in? His dad was in Slytherin, and Linley thought it would be awesome if he got into that house; he'd be just like his dad! Sure, his dad had warned him that people sometimes didn't like Slytherin and called them evil, but Linley didn't care. He didn't think he was smart enough for Ravenclaw, but he thought that Hufflepuff seemed like a lot of fun. They seemed friendly and kind. As for Gryffindor, Linley had heard all about Harry Potter--who hadn't, at this point--and he decided that while it would be a great honor to be in the same house as The Boy Who Lived, he didn't think he was really cut out to be a Gryffindor.

"Linley Rockefeller!"

Linley jumped, startled, then squeezed his way to the front and sat down as the sorting hat was placed on his head.

Ah, aren't you an interesting one? the Sorting Hat said in his mind.

What do you mean by that? Linley asked.

Inquisitive, I see. And loves to learn. loves knowledge... That's quite a Ravenclaw trait.

I was wondering something, Linley said. Could I be in Slytherin? My dad was in Slytherin, and I think it would be awesome!

Awesome? repeated the Sorting Hat. But surely you've heard that Slytherin is where all the dark wizards come from. A lot of people hate Slytherins. Linley shook his head.

I think that bad people can be in any house, he told the hat. My dad was a Slytherin, and he's not evil. And besides, I don't care if people don't like Slytherins; if they said that to me, I'd tell them where to stick it! The Sorting Hat chuckled.

What brave words, it said. I know where you belong now.

Where's that? Linley asked quickly.

GRYFFINDOR!

Linley's eyes widened in surprise. Really? He was in Gryffindor now? Even as he stepped off the stage and headed towards the Gryffindor table, slight bewilderment still lingered in his expression.

"It's not that I don't like people; I do. I just also think that people are intimidating."

Green eyes glistening at the majestic sight of the sky-like roof. Clearly, magic provided endless possibilities. With no limit whatsoever - or so had Euphaustus thought. Little did he know that there were specific obligations and rules, every witch and wizard had to follow. That being said, not everyone did, but he was not aware of such specifics, given he was only but a first year, and hadn’t been introduced to the magical world properly yet. However, a tingling excitement for the trials to come had fulfilled the boy with nerve-wracking emotions, to the point where he was unable to not think about Hogwarts, or anything magical. One could say that he was obsessed, addicted, and he wanted more.

The long tables occupied by numerous students that stretched far along the whole hall had prying eyes on the first years. As the older students were all curious to see who were their new Housemates going to be. Euphaustus had no prior knowledge regarding the Houses, but from what he had been told, after asking tons of students who had bothered to read about each group, he had gotten the simple, basic idea of how does one get sorted. Traits, personality, ambitions. It made sense, he had no doubt that according to the House he was about to find himself in, friends were going to be made. As so, later on, had explained the Headmaster. A stern-looking man.

After the magnificent, echoing song that hollowed the Great Hall, names started being called out. It felt like it was taking forever for his name to be shouted out. His legs ached to step on the short stone stairs, fingers stretching, hair scratching. If he was the last one on the list, Euphaustus was going to throw a fit. But fortunately for everybody - he was not.

“...Boppity,” a few random cackles broke the tiny bit of silence in between, “Euphaustus Boppity!” Until one student snorted so loud that Euphaustus’ eyes gave a piercing look, like a steel dagger after getting sharpened with a whetstone. He ignored the interference and proceeded to climb up to sit on the wooden stool. Then the hat sat on his curly-haired head.

“Hmmm,” the hat grunted, moving around, making itself sit comfortably on the boy. This was quite literally the most amazing thing he had seen so far. And considering he had a lot of first times prior to arriving at the sorting ceremony, it was very shocking to admit so. A talking hat - like, come on?!
“Curiosity I see, but no patience, if you want something you’d want it immediately,” Euphaustus’ gestures with his head and facial expressions replied silently to what the hat was stating: Facts. How did this thing know him so well?
“This is what I do best,” the hat replied, at the boy’s utter surprise. It made sense now.
“But onto the more important matter; friends. You enjoy those indeed. As long as they accept you as you are, there will be no trouble. You seek to find the truth about them, learn. Ravenclaw could teach you all that, but if you insist…” silence fell upon the hall. If a needle dropped on the floor, it would be the easiest thing to hear at the moment. Euphaustus didn’t mind any House, Gryffindor was only his favourite because it was popular, according to some. But then…

“Hufflepuff!”

Friends.
Fitting.
The boy smiled, a cheery grin across his face as he stood up the second the hat was pulled off his head, as he made his way towards the Hufflepuff table, where other fellow students greeted him, their yellow and black robes pridefully expressing their admiration to the new member.

Euphaustus was fine with the decision, he couldn’t argue with the hat, how could he? It answered his only need and if Hufflepuff could provide it, so be it.

Everything was so... new.

Everywhere Brionna looked she saw new. New faces, new rooms, new clothes. Brionna silently gaped at the world of unknowns around her. She could not wait to start learning! Oh the things she could learn from the upperclassmen- that is if she ever got the courage to talk to anyone. Even on the train and boat ride there, Brionna had yet to say a single word to another 1st year. She ticked it in her head as something to work on and scanned the faces around her. The majority of faces were nervous, a few showing genuine excitement.

The brunette let out a quiet sigh as she waited. She was a patient person, after years of dealing with her brother's, she learned it was a helpful trait. But there were so many people. The more she thought about the situation the more offset she became. In her awe of her surroundings, she had neglected to notice the very task she had to accomplish. Going on to a stage, in front of a room full of people, sit on stage, and wait to be judged based on her "character". The thought sent the girl into a blind panic. She simply stopped breathing- she went rigid.

Brionna took a hesitant glance at the people around her again. She looked past the nervous first years to the faces of the revealed second years, and joyous third years. She wasn't permitted to carry anything with her, so her fingers were left to fiddle with her bracelets rather than the comforting pages of a book. The other students looked rather... happy. It was enough to boost the girls moral, even if just slightly. The young female took a deep, trembling breath, trying instead to focus on the Headmaster and Sorting Hat's voices. She listened to the Hat ponder the pupils beneath it, before proclaiming them into their house for the next seven years.

Seven years was a long time, though much shorter than her years in muggle school. Brionna pondered which house she would be put in. With only knowing her adoptive father's family, they were all Gryffindor's, though Brionna felt she wasn't particularly brave. Brionna knew the basics of the Houses from her many "interviews", closer to interrogations, of her extended family members. As far as she knew, any house was okay, except Slytherin. The girl couldn't wrap her head around how there could be a bad house in this wonderful world. When explained that many evil witches and wizards originated in the mentioned house, she simply responded that, "History does not define a being." She then ranted to her family on how just because one is born into a group does not make them bad as well, and said the same applied to these houses.

After being told the unbiased summary for the four houses, Brionna wondered for many nights which she would call home. She knew her family hoped to keep the Gryffindor streak alive, but deep down, Brionna knew it wasn't the right one. The other's, she was at a lost. She knew she was ambitious, but was she in the way the Slytherin's were? Brionna always put others before herself, but she could also be blunt and forget to soften the blow of harsh words, even with friends. Above all, Brionna loved to learn, but was that enough to be a Ravenclaw- the "brain-iacs and nerds" as her Gryffindor family put it.

Brionna drifted back to hear the person before her declared, "Hufflepuff!" , before her heart stopped at the next name.

Her name.

"Wolf, Brionna."

The girl's legs turned to jelly, her lungs felt full of lead, and her face on fire. She knew just from the heat that her face and ears were a bright shade of red, telling everyone just how nervous she was. Brionna trained her features into neutral, or tried to, but the slight furrow of her brows paired with the blush, gave her away to anyone looking. She took a calming breath before taking one step forward. “One foot, after the other, I climb higher and higher,” she thought, singing the song to herself.

Her heart was practically leaping out of her chest by the time she made it to stool with the hat and Headmaster. She took a seat slowly, afraid she’d miss if she sat too fast or she’d make too much noise. The curly haired, green-eyed girl took a last glance around the room before her eyes were covered from the Sorting Hat. The Hat, slightly large for the small girl, covered her eyes, resting softly on the bridge of her nose.

Brionna thought about pushing the Hat up, but decided it was better not to as it blocked her view of the intimidating crowd staring… at her… right now… Oh god- what was she doing- her thoughts were cut short as the Hat began talking to her.

Ah, a quiet Wolf? That’s a first- oh- now I see… Your a Pines… bunch of Gryffindor’s there too, but more diversity in the houses over all…” the Hat’s voice boomed in her head, but out loud was almost silent.

A Pines?” the girl wondered. Brionna quickly made the only possible connection she could have to another wizard name- her biological father. “My biological dad's last name is Pines?” she asked.

Ah- you're a quick one,” the Hat seemed to chuckle, “Nonetheless, you’re a Wolf now, but at heart you are as curious as a Pines… So where to put you… You are not like your family… I can see you value friendship, although you have a hard time trusting… You're very ambitious, I think you could do rather well in Slytherin...

"But is that where I will be able to learn the most?" Came Brionna's timid but curious reply. She felt Slytherin would work just fine, but if she could learn more elsewhere, she felt that would better fit her ambitions.

"Eh? Is that what you think? Always thinking you are...hm- I know just where you belong."

RAVENCLAW!

The girl's heart stopped, then started again. Ravenclaw, the “nerds”. She would fit in nicely there. Brionna jumped slightly as the Headmaster removed the hat, causing her to blush once more. She quickly stood and rushed over to her new House, tripping in her hurry. She plopped down rather gracelessly and smiled as her table clapped and cheered around her. The brunette high-fived a random upperclassman who held out his hand, startling herself. The girl sighed in relief as the attention turned back to the front, another student being called. Brionna looked around and admired her housemates, this is where her journey begins.

And boy, was she ready for adventure.

Slade was amazed by what he had seen this night. He had overheard some kids talking on the train about some sort of enchanted ceiling, but hearing stories and seeing with ones own eyes was a whole other spectacle.

The halls were huge, and the ceiling was lit up as if you were seeing the stars up close. The amount of food at the tables was a sight to behold in and of itself. Slade had never seen such a feast, except for on TV shows and in movies. And seeing actual ghosts was exciting, especially as they weren’t as scary as he was told in scary stories; some of them had quite an elegance to them.

As the headmaster was making his announcements, Slade's eyes wandered with excitement, and he definitely missing the part about the sorting hat and the houses. Slade's attention refocused, however, when he started hearing names being called.

Leaning over to one of the kids, he whispered, “Hey, what’s going on here? Why are they calling their names and putting on that old hat?”

His bewilderment only increased as the hat shouted, “Ravenclaw!!”, and cheering and clapping erupted from one side of the room.

The girl replied, “Were you not paying attention to what the headmaster was saying?”

Reddening with embarrassment, and feeling the heat rise in his ears, Slade replied, “I’m sorry, but no. I know I should have been, but this place is so cool and definitely not what I was ready for. I heard some tidbits on the train, but seeing it in real life is something else, isn’t it?”

The girl sighed. “I suppose that can’t be helped. Hogwarts is an amazing place. Anywho, basically they call your name, you go up, put the hat on, and the hat decides what house you belong in. The four Founding houses of Hogwarts are Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin.”

With a smile on his face, Slade thanked the girl and proceeded with paying attention to the ceremony. After a handful more students, Slade's name rung out through the halls. “Deol, Slade!”

Slade nervously shot straight up, but was excited and determined. He was curious about the Hogwarts Houses, and how the House he was about to be sorted into would help shape his future. To shape him into the type of person he would become, and the friendships he would make throughout his years at the school. He started walking up towards the hat. Climbing the steps, he almost tripped on his robes, but caught himself with just a little stumble. He heard laughing from behind and cast the crowd a toothy grin before turning to the headmaster and apologizing. Then, without further ado, he proceeded towards the hat, sat down, and put it on.

......Hmmm...... well aren’t you an intrepid one. Hmmm..... determined are we, and a bit plucky, too, I see. You’re not from around here. Made a big trip over, hmmm.....

Hello, Mr. Sorting Hat! Slade thought excitedly. I trust wherever it is you’d like to place me. I’m ready to go, his thoughts continued, determined.

Well..... then my boy, it seems to stand I know the perfect place for you! Best place for you is in Gryffindooooor!!!

He heard another side of the Hall cheer with such an intensity that Slade knew that was where he belonged, and proceeded to join his fellow Gryffindor classmates.

"Abellera," A voice called, signaling for the sorting.
He nervously sat down, shaking, being raised a muggle left him almost extremely clueless. He couldn't say anything, he couldn't smile. He stood there, body tense and eyes wide open. He went up slowly and almost tripped. He felt as if anyone would yell at him, telling him to go faster, he sat down. He heard someone in the crowd say, it's going to be okay, he smiled. The headmaster placed the large, magical hat on his head. Dakotas smile shifted on his face, as he looks up and faces the crowd. His palms started to sweat and his throat became dry.
"So what do I-" he turned to the headmaster but was interrupted by a voice.
The hat upon his head started to sing, which made Dakota jump. Dakota didn't know what to do, he knew magic was weird, but not this weird. Everything felt so foreign, but he reassured himself.
"Whatever the hat puts you in, you belong there. You trust the headmaster, so why have doubt?" He thought. "If Dante was here, hed be so brave, and he'd be happy if I was brave too." He looks up and pulls an awkward smile across his face.
"Seems familiar..." the sorting hat said. "Not the first time with an Abellera, a great Ravenclaw household."
"What?"
"If bravery is what you keep, Gryffindor is what you seek!"
"No,"
"Ambition for oneself and to those, Slytherins is where you'll be chose."
"I gue-"
"Wait, I sense a burning passion for love, Hufflepuff might be the on all above."
"Love?"
"This vision is becoming clear, Hufflepuff is where you stay near. Modesty, loyalty, patience, and Fairness, friends and family is what you cherish. Shy and secluded on the outside, guidance from the best won't be outsized. So, follow a journey and choose your path, a Hufflepuff is here with all their wrath!"
Dakota's eyes brighten, somewhere he belongs. He wonders what the other houses would be like, but Hufflepuff seemed nearly perfect for him.
"HUFFLEPUFF!" The sorting hat roared, and a satisfied Dakota stepped off, and look for the table.
