Interacting with @Lark Flaer
Wren was walking or rather running down the corridor on her way to her next class, late again, as always. She had laid down for a quick nap after lunch, but as it turned out she had almost slept enough to be late. Potions was one of her favorite subjects so she had no desire to skip it.
As she walked into the class, she saw that her normal obscured seat in the back was occupied by another boy she didn't know, so she was forced to sit in the front row next to a girl with hair the color of honey with pale blonde ends. She was rather pretty in Wren's mind. Looking at her warm smile, with a beckoning aura about her, Wren decided that this seat would be a good place to sit. She hoped she would be able to become friends with her and not scare her off with all her chattering. She decided to test her theory. So, turning to the girl with a warm friendly smile, she said:
"Hello, my name is Wren. Is okay if I sit here? My usual seat in the back is occupied and it looks like this is one of the only seats left."
She sat not waiting for an answer from the girl, but wondering what her name was. The girl looked like an Annalise in her mind, but meeting kids from the wizarding world that was probably very far off.

Anxiously awaiting the start of class, Lark set out her supplies for the day. Journal.. Quill.. Book... She placed her leather bag under her feet as she sat up in her chair. Potions was easily her favorite class, tied with Astronomy. Lark had started out completely terrified but after the first class of they year she had fallen in love with everything the class offered. Structure, knowledge, organization.. After that she had made sure to be to class early and get a good spot. Front row. Only the best spot for her to absorb all she could from the Professor. James had sat with her a couple of times and groaned about the spot but when he got good grades Lark was sure he wouldn't complain quite as much. Plus, if he moved she would surely badger him until he chose to sit with her again. Her father had laughed at the way she recounted classes over Winter break. He had said that she was taking it a little too seriously which had not gone over so well with Lark. The reaction had not been what she expected and was yet another thing to add to her long list of frustrations with her parents.
Adjusting the journal in front of her she set it in line with the edge of her desk, a smile on her face in anticipation for what Professor Price had in store for them today. Lark turned and quickly checked the rest of the room behind her. James wasn't here yet... A small nervous feeling bubbled in the pit of her stomach. If he didn't make it soon someone else might take his seat. She stared at the empty desk and debated placing her bag there. 'He better not be goofing off with Gem..' Lark bit the corner of her lip. Maybe she should just save it in case-- Lark turned and was faced with a girl standing next to the seat for James. Lark froze in her chair. 'Jameesss..' She inwardly groaned and made a mental note to give him grief later.
Trying to shift her expression, Lark forced a smile onto her face hoping it wasn't too painfully obvious she felt her space being intruded upon. Routine was something she relied on and well... right now she felt rather protective of the spot for James. Enjoying class wouldn't be the same without her best friend by her side moaning over lists of potion side effects being much too long to memorize. Sizing the girl up Lark felt her face flush as she turned to return the smile. Had she noticed her studying her?
"Hello, my name is Wren. Is okay if I sit here? My usual seat in the back is occupied and it looks like this is one of the only seats left."
Lark barely parted her lips to protest when the girl sat herself down. She nodded, her posture still stiff. She hadn't even waited for a reply! Lark thought a bit put off. Why bother asking?
"I uh.. I'm Lark." Her voice felt strange as she forced an introduction. Of course the girl was from Gryffindor... she seemed pretty brazen. Lark thought back to the awful interaction with the Gryffindor at James' birthday this past Fall.. Hopefully she hadn't been friends with her being a fellow first year. Hopefully the rest of class went well... Absentmindedly the young Ravenclaw's hand immediately went to her journal and straightened it once more.
As the Professor started his lecture, Lark peered at the girl next to her out of the corner of her eye. Goodness... if they had to use partners today she would for sure end up with Wren... It was sort of distracting to have a new face sitting next to her and drew a lot of Lark's attention away from the lecture and more on the anxiety brewing in her chest.
"- In fact, that's exactly what your going to do right now."
The Professor's words finally drew in Lark's full attention as she realized what their task was going to be......... mucus.... Not that Lark was squeamish when it came to certain tasks for class even with creatures but she could feel her breakfast wanting to make a come back as the Flobberworms wriggled in their cages, one for each table.... Lark peeked at Wren again and swallowed hard. Of course it was a day for group participation. James was really going to get an earful for this. Reaching into her desk she revealed the spoon that the Professor had prepared and looked at Wren.
"Well... might as well get it over with."

sorry I took so long to respond xD. I had a bit of a writer's block on this one. xD We good now tho!
Wren hadn't exactly been listening to the lecture.
All she knew was that they were going to do something that involved Flobberworms. 'ugh the slimy, mucusy disgusting little things' she thought.
She was pretty squeamish when it came to things like this because she didn't enjoy anything that had to do with slime. She hadn't had to interact with the little things very much but she could already tell she wasn't going to like them. Her partner --Lark-- didn't look too happy about it either.
She needed to ask Lark, (how ironic that two girls with names that both were birds would sit together!) what they were supposed to do.
"Hey, Lark? What are we doing? I um, didn't really hear Prof. Price." She could tell that Lark was pretty shy, but she would gradually warm up to her. Wren hoped. Some people never got used to her chatter.
Lark seemed like the type of person that had a few enemies but not a whole lot, and for the most part, got along with almost everyone, but the more Wren interacted with her the more that it didn't seem the case. Wren had already taken a seat usually occupied by another boy.
With a spoon in her hand, she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing. She sat there contemplating her next move.

Letting out a long breath, Lark grabbed one of the tools the Professor had shown them to use in extracting ... or well scooping, slime off of the Flobberworms. A shower was going to be top priority after this class. As much as she loved Potions this did not seem very appealing.. Wistfully her eyes scanned the room for James and saw him sitting with who she could only assume was Gem. If only she had been paired with them.
"Hey, Lark? What are we doing? I um, didn't really hear Prof. Price."
Slowly she turned to face her partner. The Flobberworm giggled against the cage that sat on their table. "So.. we have ta scoop off... the well... that." She gestured at the mucus that covered the creatures body and was now beginning to slide down the cage walls and onto their table. Setting her spoon down, Lark moved her notebooks back into her bag and made sure none of her things would get slimed.
"I think he gave us some.. ah ye right here." Lark leaned over the table past the Flobberworm who seemed to make some sort of wet gurgle at her coming so close. Grabbing the container the Professor had left for them to collect the mucus in, Lark placed it between herself and Wren. "They seem pretty docile but ah... still hafta be careful with them. Can't imagine what it's like ta have someone scrape a spoon along your skin." The looked pretty mushy... sort of soft and tender.. Lark had never really been this close to one before. Her mother had tended to some in her garden eating up bits of vegetation she didn't want but that seemed more of a foster thing and not long term care. They were there for a job then gone.
