On the scarlet express!
Anna, after saying goodbye to her parents, who wished her luck and promised they'd write frequently, pulled her trunk onto the Hogwarts express, where lot of students talked with each other, or leaned out of the window to wave a goodbye to their parents. Anna really liked this train, it seemed comfortable, and really nice. She walked into one of the compartments, which was mercifully empty. Anna didn't like people staring at her, and she hated drawing much attention to herself. After pushing her trunk under the seat, she sat down on one of the seats and looked round her. The seats were red cushion and very comfortable with wood armrests and separators. The curtains were lilac with a bronze keeper and as Anna looked out of the window, she saw that the train had started, but not picked up much pace. Instead of sitting there with nothing to do, she pulled out her school books and wand and started practicing some of the spells in the book. They did work, and Anna soon got bored of this. Luckily, she had brought something else to do, a sudoku puzzle book. These were really fun, and Anna loved these. They were something that would sharpen your brain, and after all, that's what you need to excel in school and life of course - a sharp brain.
After finishing ten such puzzles in the difficult category, Anna got bored. This had only whiled away less than fifteen minutes. Those were the downsides of being a really smart kid and a nerd. She really hoped someone would come into the compartment soon. It would be really nice just to talk to somebody, even if they were years older than her.
Just as Anna was thinking these things, she heard the door slide a bit and turned to look. It looked like just the wind. Sighing, and thinking what wouldn't she give to have some companion and hopefully a future friend at Hogwarts, she bent back over her books and began to re read the paragraphs thinking that if she didn't have a friend yet by the time she arrived at Hogwarts, at least she'd have the year's syllabus mastered before she set foot in the castle

On the scarlet express!
Lily had spent the whole day with her family, trying out new things and just having fun. Now she was here, standing right in front of the Hogwarts Express, her trunk near her feet, her owl in her cage on top of it. Her sister, Isabella, bid a quick goodbye and went towards her friends standing nearby. Lily remained there, shifting weight from one foot to another. This was it; she was finally going to a place she dreamt for days, maybe months and even years. "This is it then. Bye!", she said, looking at her parents. Her parents waved cheerfully, as she stepped onto the train.
"How much does this thing weigh? It is so heavy...", she thought, dragging her trunk with one hand, and holding the cage with another.
She soon saw a compartment pretty nearby. She stepped closer, hoping it would be mostly empty, but unfortunately it was already filled with a group of friends, laughing and chatting away the journey.
She wandered a bit more, finally seeing a compartment. She went there, peeping through the small gap, and saw that only a girl was there, peering over a book. "Perfect!", she exclaimed, opening the door fully. The girl stopped what she was doing and looked up. "Hey!", Lily said. "Can I sit here?", she asked.

Anna looked up to hear the door of the compartment open fully. A girl had opened it, pulling her trunk through. As she was thinking thank god my trunk has wheels, the girl asked if she could sit here, and judging by the 'perfect', she also didn't want to enter a full compartment either. Smiling broadly, Anna said "Sure you can! It's great to finally have someone else here, I've been sitting alone for way too long."
Noticing the girl was still trying to pull her trunk into the compartment, she instantly got up and saying, "Here, let me help you", helped her put her trunk under the seat opposite to her.
Now Anna was able to take a closer look at the girl. She had shoulder length black hair, thick eyebrows, black eyes and seemed to be someone who enjoyed being left alone. But hopefully she'd be okay to talk for some time she thought anxiously.
"Hi! I'm Anna! What's your name?", she said, carefully watching the girl's expression in case she got annoyed that she was interrupting her from her thoughts. But the lure of the view outside the window was way too strong. Giving in to the lure, she glanced outside to see the lush green countryside. The train had picked up speed. Turning back to the girl, she asked "Are your family wizards? And your friends?" hoping for an answer soon. The girl didn't seem very extroverted, but Anna hoped she would at least answer her questions, however irritable the response would be.
