A New Friend
Shae sat down next to Sage to eat. "You know, I'm actually kind of hungry!" She said, laughing to herself. "It's a good thing you suggested food." She started piling food onto a plate. She smiled at Sage and lookd at her plate for a moment before diving in. "I guess I haven't eaten since this morning." She said, thinking about her day. She stuffed a forkful of food into her mouth and thought while she chewed. She ate silently, her hair started slowly turning red as she got lost in her thoughts. She dropped her fork when her hair fell into her face and she noticed the change. She muttered under her breath. "Oops." She closed her eyes and concentrated to turn it back to normal. When she was opened her eyes again, she still had red streaks, but they weren't very noticeable. Shae bit her lip. "I really need to get a handle on that happening," She joked to Sage. "Really awkward sometimes." Shae smiled and returned to her eating. "Sorry, it must be weird to see sometimes," she said to Sage. "I mean, I don't mean to do it usually, but it still must be weird for you to see my hair just suddenly turn red," Shae looked down, embarrased.

A New Friend
"It's just weird seeing red hair appear next to my red hair, made me think someone cursed me with growing hair for a second." She laughed a bit as she grabbed some food and began to eat. She was glad that Shae was hungry too because she hadn't eaten since breakfast. Plus, she was glad that she had a new friend sitting with her. "You know, I'm kind of excited for the class of Care of Magical Creatures. I wanna see what kind of animals the wizarding world has. Of course, I could just read Newt Scamander's book, I wanna see them up close. Hey! Maybe I could ask the Grounds Keeper if they know where I can find any or if they can show me anything! That would be so cool, I read about Centaurs in my other books, I'd love to meet one of them. Though I heard you have to treat them with the highest respect, as long as Hippogriffs also. Gosh, when I'm older I might get licenses and certifications to own all of the good magical creatures and own a big piece of land where they can live. Maybe I could even own a good dragon too!" Sage rambled on about this big dream she had when she was older.

A New Friend
Shae laughed. "I can imagine that." She said, smiling. "I know I'm going to be good with Transfiguration. I mean, being a metamorphmagus helps with that sometimes." She thought for a moment. "Well, sometimes it helps, so I don't know, maybe I won't be good with it." She put a forkful of food into her mouth as she thought. "Anyway. I'm excited about it all, I mean I know magic from growing up with it, but I'm just excited to actually be able to learn it all." Shae looked at Sage as she went on about Care of Magical Creatures. She thought about what she knew of it and bit her lip. It wasn't much, but Sage seemed to know a lot. She smiled to herself, glad to have made a new friend. They'd be able to help each other with class and everything. She never had much of that growing up and she was excited about finding it here.
When Sage stopped, Shae was smiling at her. "You know, I'm really glad I'll have a buddy to help with Care of Magical Creatures if I struggle with it." She laughed a bit and turned to her plate. "I'm really glad I've made a friend."

A New Friend
Sage giggled a bit loudly and snorted a bit too, covering her laugh and ignoring anyone who looked over at her. "Me too! Who knows! I could be bad at every class except that one and you'll be able to help me with all the other ones I'm bad at" she laughed a bit and took a bite of her food. Already she was feeling a strong connection with Shae and it made her happy to know that she wouldn't be alone anymore. The thoughts made her smile widen as she chewed and stuffed her mouth with food again.
"I think I might head to the library after this and study a bit on the creatures. I don't think we have that class this year anyways but I'm excited to wait for it because hopefully, it'll be worth it. Anyways, didn't you say you were looking forward to a class? Which one was it? I'm glad you're my friend Shae, I have a feeling we'll end up being sisters or something, I mean not biologically of course. You know what I mean...right?" Sage asked. Now she was getting too comfortable because she was rambling on things she wasn't even paying attention to or caring about.

A New Friend
Shae laughed with Sage. "I mean, that's true." She smiled at her food for a second."Well, Sage, there's no denying that you're a Ravenclaw. You want to, not only study ahead, but years ahead." She started laughing uncontrollably, her hair turning platinum blonde. She stopped laughing and closed her eyes, changing the hair color back, then she looked at Sage. "I mean, no classes are super in my mind right now that I'm excited to learn. I'm just excited, but I think I'll be good at transfiguration, but I'm not sure." She looked down, thinking for a second, then looked back up and smiled again and nodded at Sage's mention of them being "sisters". "I know what you mean, like...friends so close it's like we're sisters." Her smiled dropped as she had an idea, then she grinned mischievously. "Wait a second," she said as her hair changed colors again. It was red like Sage's. Shae closed her eyes and her hair started to curl and mimic Sage's. It wasn't a perfect match, but it was close. She opened her eyes and laughed to herself. "Did it work? In time I could look like your twin!" She laughed again and left her hair red and curly.

A New Friend
Sage watched in amazement and giggled when Shae's hair changed and curled like hers. "That would be so cool! We could switch in classes or something" she joked with another giggle as she continued to eat. She was grateful that she had met Shae, she knew how to cheer her up when she needed it, and knew how to make her laugh. Sage felt more and more comfortable around her and felt like she could talk to her about anything. "So, did you find a date for this Valentine dance?" She asked her "if not you can go with me as friends, although I got something to gossip about, but later though. I'm still hungry and all this food is so good!" She said and continued to eat.
When she was full she looked at her with a smile "now what should we do? I guess you could help me get ready for the dance? A boy asked me to go with him and I want to look nice for him." She said with a soft smile. She was also nervous about mentioning her date also. Shae was still more than welcome to join her and her date at the dance if she didn't have anyone to go with.

A New Friend
Shae shook her head. "I don't have a date." She told Sage, shrugging. "But if you want I can help you and tag along." She smiled at her. "I haven't talked to many boys since coming here, so it's not been easy finding a date." She laughed. "I don't really care for one anyway. I've always found these things more fun without one." Her hair color turned back to its original color as Shae lost herself in her thoughts for a moment. "I've always liked dances better as just hanging out with friends." She bit her lip. "I guess I haven't ever had a date either, so I wouldn't know if it was better with a date." She had started rambling about dances and dates and friends. She was now lost in her thoughts with it and kept rambling for a few moments. Her hair grew to her waist and changed color. It now showed multiple colors: red, pink, blue, green.
When Shae realized her hair was long and multi-colored, she stopped rambling. "Well that's awkward." she joked, looking at Sage. She blushed, thinking about all her rambling. "Sorry I guess I got carried away with my thoughts." She said, her face turning red.

A New Friend
"It's okay, I understand" she hugged her to try and comfort her "you're more than welcome to join me and my date at the dance. I don't even know when it starts honestly." She said nervously and looked at the time. "Besides, he's really nice, maybe he'll dance with you too if you ask him. I don't know him that well, but he's a Gryffindor. Can you believe it though? A Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw? Odd combination people say but I don't care." She smiled widely as she started to braid Shae's hair.
"Maybe if you keep it braided it might help a little bit, it can still change color but might not grow as much?" She suggested as she finished the braid and looked at her from the front. "Besides, it's cute! I like your hair like that." She smiled and remembered how soft her hair was. It was almost therapeutic because it was so soft. She pushed that thought aside and looked around again, wondering what to do next. She wanted to figure out what time the dance started to she could figure out how much time she had to get ready. Luckily her mother had gotten her a few dresses for special ocassions and they all went well with her hair too.

A New Friend
Shae smiled and looked at her hair. Looking at Sage, Shae thanked her for helping. "We should go find out what time the dance starts." She finished her food and stood up. She stopped, just realizing she didn't know where Sage planned to go to find out. "Where do we go to find out?" She smiled shyly, feeling embarrassed. "Big castle, lots of places." Her smile dropped for a second and she looked around the great hall. "I mean this one room is bigger than some houses." She joked and laughed a bit. "I mean, it's crazy," she muttered to herself. She turned back to Sage. "So, anyway, where to go?" She asked Sage again, playing with her newly braided hair. It was still multiple colors and Shae looked down and smiled at it. "I like my hair all multi-colored like this." She grinned to herself. As she thought about how much she liked her hair, it changed colors, back to platinum blonde. "Ugh really?" She groaned, then chuckled. She looked at Sage. "Sorry, I'm getting sidetracked." she said, dropping her hair, it's color returned to normal as she dropped it. Her face was red and she looked down at her feet.

"It's okay, I honestly don't know where to go either. I'm still getting used to the castle. Maybe we should wait a little bit, it'll probably happen in a few hours anyways and I'm sure people will start rushing to get ready once it's announced to the others." She nodded, satisfied with her response as she grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it. "Well what are we supposed to do now? I suppose we could go work on our hair, or at least me and then you put on a dress and I can tell you what kind of hair would go good with it" she smiled, hoping Shae would like that idea. It made her smile thinking that they could do that.
She was still processing that Shae could change her hair color and looks at times, but she knew eventually that she would get used to it. Maybe use it to their advantage? No she wanted to stay out of trouble.
