You got it wrong!
Kayden tiptoed down the hallway, trying, and partially failing, to not make a sound. As he rounded a corner, he began to wonder if this was really a good idea.
Probably not. He thought. He didn't want too, but he had to know. He had to know. Sneaking into the headmasters office wasn't something that he had planned doing upon coming to Hogwarts, but he would in return for some answers.
Walking up to the headmasters door, he took a deep breath. He could do this. He had to do this. He had been hoping the door was unlocked, and it was, thank god. Entering the room, which had a pleasant smell of flowers to it, he was relieved to realize Mr. Lear wasn't there. Doing a 360, he spied what he was looking for. The sorting hat. Sitting there on a shelf, surrounded by books and whatnot, he walked up to it.
"Mr Hat?" He said cautiously. "Mr sorting hat?" When he got no response, Kayden began to panick and look around the room, making sure that indeed, Solomonwas not there. Irritated, Kayden poked the hat slightly. "Mr sorting hat wake up!" The hat opened a crevice, revealing a mouth. It looked grouchy, and said in a slightly annoyed tone, "You... I had a feeling you'd be back here."
Kaydens head spun. What could that mean? Had the hat been expecting him? "Mr hat, I don't belong in Gryffindor." Kayden said in a slightly rushed tone. "And why is that?" The hat croaked. Kayden looked around again, and dropped to a whisper, as if fearing someone would hear him. "Mr hat, I.. I don't have courage. How could you have thought I was meant for Gryffindor?" The hat chuckled. "Boy I have seen many minds in my time, and few were as puzzling as yours. You might not rush headfirst into a battle, wand blazing, but you have courage when it counts." Kayden sighed. "Mr Hat, I believe you got it wrong. I'm book smart, I'm not brave." The hat growled. "Do not question the sorting hat! Now leave me be, I have spoken!" Kayden rolled his eyes. He wouldn't be getting any more out of him.
