first transfiguration class

aeron sat near the middle of classroom, not too close to the front but not hiding in the back either. he looked at his robes,he still didnt recover from being sorted into gryffindor, tonight he will receive letter from parents - first for this year and he can already sense it wont be anything good.
everyone was still half awake from breakfast and a bit nervous — it was the first real lesson after sorting. he kept glancing at the board where the word transfiguration was written in neat handwriting.
he’d heard stories about this subject being one of the hardest ones. turning one thing into another — it sounded simple but wasn’t. the professor walked in and the room went silent almost instantly.
aeron straightened his quill, trying not to look too excited. he didnt pay much attention to interlude focusing on class interior
their first task was small — turning a matchstick into a needle. the professor demonstrated it first and everyone tried but it didnt have any succes
aeron finally looked at his seatmate - girl from gryffindor,he looked with little jealousy at her green robes and then focused on his own task
by the end only few did task right,Aeron did only half but since it was first lesson it wasnt big deal.
when the bell rang, everyone started talking at once, showing each other their results.he looked at his seatmate and asked: What is your name?

Well, that's a course I'm likely going to fail, Luna-Katherine thought as she scowled at her matchstick. It had gone silver, but only at the tip, and had splintered the rest of the way down the middle of the wood. I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but still...
Realizing the boy next to her was speaking, to her nonetheless, she blinked, startled out of her mind. What on earth was he doing? She wasn't anything interesting. If anything, she'd done well to sit where she wouldn't have to be called on, next to someone she wouldn't have been bothered by---the black-haired boy had seemed too preoccupied with his own learning to care who she was. Her initial observations must have been wrong, as his light eyes are trained on her, imploringly waiting for a response.
Such a forward introduction, too---LK frowned to herself before replying quietly, "Erm...it's Luna...Luna-Katherine...and yours?" A nice, polite response; hopefully he would be satisfied enough with her answer to get her out of this situation quickly, because she was aching to hurry to the library and figure out what on earth kind of books on apothecary practices could exist in a magical library.

Aeron blinked when the girl beside him finally answered. For a second he wasn’t sure she’d even heard him — she’d been staring at that poor matchstick like it had personally offended her.
“Luna-Katherine,” he repeated, then with little hidden disgust he said. “never heard that name, may i assume you are muggle?”
He twirled his wand lazily between his fingers. “Aeron,” he added simply. “Aeron Blackthorn. You can just call me Aeron though—Im not sure if muggles are intelegent enough to understand.”
He observed her,it was written on his face he barely communicated with muggle-borns. "Before you came here did you read any spellbooks?'',he asked looking at her result he added "im not saying my work is art,but when people like you fail it just proves not everyone deserve to be here"
"but since we share one house i wont neglect you too much, after all i have to share 7 years with someone like you"
Aeron knew he sounded rude but it was his chance to spit his anger and sadness on someone,he didnt care about his reputation in front of muhhle-born
"you look like you already want to escape",he chuckled and added "sorry if i scared you,i just like when people like you get humbled"

Luna-Katherine blinked, bristling slightly. The rude tone of him, so condescending. As if he knew anything about medicine, or poisons. "People like me?" she said, raising an eyebrow. "I assume, then, that you, Aaron Blackthorn, think you're better than me?"
Her tone might have sounded slightly offended, but her tone immediately switched with her next statement, as she grabbed the matchstick and squinted at it with curiosity. "Well, you're right, I'm rubbish at this. Good on you for your surface-level observations—I assume those are all you can manage? You do know that you failed the task as well, right?”
Pocketing the matchstick, she rolled her eyes and spun on her heel, a light having come on in her eyes as she rummaged for a small jar before turning back to Aaron. "Do you know what this is?" Inside the jar were curled leaves, tiny hairs lining the edges and prominent veins jutting out to fill out each individual green spear shape. "Genuinely curious, by the way---I'm not sure if people like you are able to understand regular human herbs. Since you're so all-knowing and everything, though, you're bound to be able to tell me what this is, right? Whether it's toxic or whether it's helpful, how it presents itself, et cetera? Though, of course," she adds with a laugh, "it's probably beneath someone like you to understand such mundane things."

OOC: i love just how highly aeron holds himself in regards to LK, it provides for such a fun contrast between them! i'm also operating off of the notion that Aeron knows very little about Muggle herbs and plants, so let me know if y0u want me to change that

Aeron’s smirk deepened, one eyebrow arching as he folded his arms.
“Better than you?” he echoed slowly, like the idea amused him more than anything else. “No, Luna-Katherine. I wouldn’t say that. But you do have that muggle-born… earnestness about you.” His eyes flicked to the matchstick in her hand
When she spun on her heel and showed the small jar, he raised his chin slightly “Ah, a jar of leaves,” he said "Of course i know what it is" he declared but in truth he would see something like that but never bothered to find out more.
He said proudly "It's troll's nose!",he answered thinking he was right,"You really think i dont know what is it?It grows in my dorms room", he lied shamelessly. "But you know what? After all we both are gryffindor even if you are muggle and beneath me i still treat you as equal in someway". His voice had that little hint of arrogance he didnt even try hiding, and his face had sly smirk of someone who didnt see Luna-Katherine as his equal
He took her matchstick and started playing with it. "I doubt i can ignite something close to fire with it." He laughed rudely

Luna-Katherine couldn't help but chuckle to herself. He didn't know. He was obviously bluffing---she didn't know what troll's nose was, or if it was even a plant, but it sounded like something he had made up on the spot. Well, she could work with that. If he wanted to act like he was so high and mighty, she could give him something to be "high and mighty" about.
"Oh, really?" she said, her tone high with fake interest as she fiddled with the jar loosely between her fingers. "I'm assuming, then, that you know its scientific name? All plants have one, you know; I'm assuming magical plants are the same. You know, Matricaria recutita for chamomile, Zingiber officinale for ginger root, Lavandula angustifolia for English lavender..." As she spoke, her fingers circled the cork of the small glass bottle in her hands, a smile quirking up the corners of her mouth in amusement. "And of course, you have its purpose. Is it just a pretty-looking plant? Does it have medicinal uses? Is it poisonous to humans, to animals, or to neither? All plants have a use, even weeds.
"Of course," she adds, blinking innocently at Aeron, "if you don't know, I can tell you. I know a lot about plants. I'm training to be an apothecary, so I have to know plants. And this is most definitely not called 'troll's nose', and you absolutely can't have it in your dorm room. But if you're sure you know all you need to know about this one..." She trailed off, beginning to pocket it.

OOC: that match was in her pocket lol, I'm assuming you just didn't notice that part so I skipped over it. Unless, of course, he reached into her pocket and got it out; then I'll revise this
